I love this competition because it has great creative themes and it gives me a challenge. I also find the critiques to be fair and non bias. Being in this competition has helped me to expand my creative skills and see things in a new way. I think Lexie should win P4F Top Models, because she has a positive attitude, a great personality, a natural walk for runway shows, she photographs extremely well, and she has a drive to be #1!

If I win this competition I would be ecstatic!! I think everyone in this competition did a great job! I am honored and grateful to be among the top 3!

This photo is a tribute to my college roommate Kricky. I've been missing her a lot lately--moreso than usual--and so I've been thinking of her and decided to do a picture for her.

This protrays one of the stories that we find the funniest from our days of living together. We lived on the eighth floor at the time. As many of you know, sleep is a precious commodity to college students. Kricky and I had a break on several days a week together so instead of enjoying sunlight or socialization, we napped in our dorm room. (We had horrible, horrible neighbors-sorority girl cokeheads-so, daytime sleep is awesome!) One day, people kept calling my stupid cell phone just about every thirty minutes and these nap were often two hours long. Once more, at noon or two or sometime, the noise again, so I grab the noise maker and say: "Hello?....Hello!" No answer. It also didn't stop making noise because it wasn't my cell phone that I was answering: it was my alarm clock.

We had a lot of really hilarious times including a chink-chink eyebrow raise, a tower of birthday cards, but more hilarious than most was Kricky's sleep talking. No one sleep talks quite like this girl. Here are some examples:

Kricky: Did you put dinosaur scraps in my bed?
Me: What?
A more frustrated Kricky: Did you put dinosaur scraps in my bed?!
A more confused me: What?!
Kricky: UGH! NEVERMIND!

I can't think about these times without laughing so hard I start to cry and wheeze. I am probably missing a bunch, but she is by far the best roommate ever. She even followed me when I went to meet my then-ex-boyfriend/now-husband to discuss things and watched from a parking lot nearby. You do NOT make friends like her everyday. If I could go back to one part of college, it would be living with Kricky. When we first moved in together, I thought it was going to be a disaster. I was so unbearably shy and she just thought I hated her so we never spoke. And then she "locked me out" for a few hours one day and everything turned around.

This little mischief maker is my 100th photo to be Explored, and the 75h this year - Thank you everyone, sure never expected that it would happen.

Despite the arduous task of moving and not being able to find anything other than the computer, cameras and TV, we still have our sense of humor intact, even if it is aching a little. I don't watch TV so why did I let them talk me into more channels that one can watch in a year? Really only care about internet...hmmm. Anyway, my entire life is moved and it is time to go to the store and find some food - will start catching up with everyone this evening.

My Last Photo on Film "Waks Red Bike"

Last year (2009) I was cleaning out my Camera equipment from storage when I noticed my old film camera still had film inside. So amazed, dumbfounded, puzzled as to what images were registered in that film. I rushed to one of the few processing center still around and lo and behold, the last photograph i took using my film camera, processed and printed 10 years after, was of my son Joaquin riding his red scooter...

Sometime year 2000, I bought my son a red electric scooter, he was about 2 years old then, you could not erase the smile in his face. I got my Canon EOS SLR loaded a fresh batch of Kodak 36 shots colored film, and took some photos of Joaquin enjoying his ride. Just about 4 shots were taken. Then I just never used the camera again and totally forgot about the photos...

Half of it is expired (mostly finished and not in the photo) and rest is second hand (not used) film which is dated 2012 (but world is gonna end before that anyway xD).

1. Cut black paper to fit your frame
2. Print the collage in Word a little smaller than your frame size. Color to suit. Glue to black paper.
3. Crop the collage to the size of the dragonfly and print. Cut out dragonfly. Color to suit.
4. Since the collage is shorter on one side than the black paper, adhere green strip of ribbon.
5. Insert Collage under glass. Use double-sided tape or adhesive of your choice to stick cut-out dragonfly to glass-top on top of the other dragonfly.

You could print out the dragonfly from the dragonfly stamp, but I wanted an exact
match, so I cropped the same collage.

To CROP:

In Word (I have Microsoft Office Word 2003), go to View/Toolbars/Picture and click on Picture. Your toolbar for cropping will appear. As soon as you touch your picture in Word, the grayed-out double Xs will become active. Click on the double Xs and put the curser on the corner where you want to start cutting off the picture and move it up/down or right/left.

American Graphic Design

My graphic design in 1969. An independent study bulletin for the University of Iowa.

I followed the rural mailman in my volkswagen beetle taking photographs of him delivering mail. He finally stopped and asked what I was doing and I explained that I was taking pictures to use at the university. That cleared things up as Iowans have a deep respect for their universities.

At least I didn't have to develop and print my shots as the university handled that through their photo lab and it was just as well. I had very little spare time because my youngest daughter played in the Iowa City high school marching band. If you've ever lived in the mid-west you would understand. I knew every high school football field from Keokuk to What Cheer. And I never realized how many kids and musical instruments could fit into a volkswagen!

Murlough Bay Nature Reserve

Murlough Bay was declared Ireland's first nature reserve almost 40 years ago and to many it remains the finest place in Ireland to see some wonderful species of wildlife.
Situated on the County Down coastline and in the shadow of the spectacular Mourne Mountains, Murlough's ancient sand dune system is 5,000 years old.
Some of the highest sand dunes found anywhere in Europe provide shelter for birds in autumn and winter, but during the summer it's probably the top spot in Northern Ireland for flowering plants and around 20 species of butterflies.
From the dunes to the sea, Murlough is also a fantastic spot for Seal watching with between 50 and 130 common and Grey Seals regularly returning to the area for moult, rest and feed
The rising sand dunes are one of the best areas to get a great view of the Seals.

The dunes also offer a panoramic view over the coastline and the Dundrum Inner Bay estuary, which also attracts wildfowl and waders.

Nature's Curtain Closes

The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and The Creator.
Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that the great Creator wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature.

Sharpe has big ears, Edward's head is too far up, Amy's face seems really flat, Pacho's nose is very long (he was a plantsim baby), Adam...i personaly don't think he flaws, Butch gets annoying quickly cuz he likes singing a lot but is very (suprise) caring, Chanelle has a very thin face, Lily looks really cheeky and chubzy, June's eyebrows are weird and Fang pulls weird faces alot.
BUT I LOVE THEM (this sounds weird)
They all grew up and became mature (Apart from Lily, she was made in college)

I forgot how much I truly enjoy photo editing.......I have a confession:

I think I actually enjoy it more than photo taking. GASP! lol

I love the challenge of restoring, enhancing or editing photos. I find myself always trying to edit every single photo I take because I want it to look better. I enjoy photography but I know that whatever I lack in skill I could make up in editing. LOL

I know there is a variation of opinion on what Photography is but I love taking my creativity and ideas to make a photo better.

I will be doing a lot more edits and putting them in my stream....I'm hoping I can make a business out of it someday.

Lincoln Motel sign

I was really pissed at the developer of the condo building in the background, since when I tried to take a pic of the sign on the other side, a part of their damn sign covered up a noticable part of the Lincoln Motel sign. There was no way I could get an angle of a pic of that side without that occuring, unless I stood in the street, and got a bad angled shot(not to mention risking getting hit by cars). Not to mention I noticed this too in a pic someone got of the other side of this sign on flickr(will put up the link to this one later).

Very belated edit(since I was creating a new set on neon signs): this one has been gone for several years now.

Quantel eQ RED multlayer conform timeline

This is a screen shot of a timeline from Filmworkers Nashville's Quantel eQ of a music video conformed from the RED native raw .R3D files via Automatic Duck from Final Cut Pro. The Auto Duck list allowed the conform of multiple layers, speed changes, repositions, dissolves and opacity so the online editor did not have to to any of that work by hand. This will now go to the DaVinci for color grading.

(built between 1745 and 1755); was first burnt by the British in 1779; rebuilt in 1826 only to be bunt again by General Sherman in 1865.

Located in Northern Beaufort County in between Sheldon and Yemassee. It is a very popular location for outdoor weddings.

YMBT Summer Photo Contest

Now THIS is a way to enjoy the sights, smells, wind and yes even rain during
your summer vacation!

We had been to Washington, DC for the Rolling Thunder demonstration over
Memorial Day weekend. From there we rode to the Blue Ridge Parkway at Fancy
Gap, VA and down to Boone, NC where we stayed in a GREAT Best Western motel.
Next it was over to Johnson City, TN to see my wife's college campus (East
Tennessee State Univ) and then into Knoxville, TN to visit her family.

This picture was taken somewhere on Rte. 129 in western North Carolina as we
headed through the mountains on our return to Florida. They call this
stretch of road the "Tail of the Dragon" as it has 318 curves in 11 miles!
While the wife enjoyed the scenery, I had to concentrate on the road or risk
riding off the side of the mountain!

Thanks Best Western! Every motel we have stayed in has been clean,
convenient, and the people are warm and friendly.

Movin' on Down the Line

Three trailing Burlington Northern Santa Fe engines pushing a 60 car train fully loaded with low-sulfur coal through the Ozarks hills. The train had stopped to allow the passage of another train, and was just getting up speed, about 30 mph. Taken at Cedar Gap, Missouri.

Last weekend's photo contest: I entered my Greer Spring photo and my Topaz Mill photo. Greer Spring won First Place and Topaz Mill won Third Place. Several contestants brought in STACKS of framed photos, so I guess there wasn't any limit to how many photos one could enter. : ) There were a LOT of great photos there!

is an historic Hindu temple located in the holy city of Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is dedicated to god Shiva - in the form of Sundareswarar or Beautiful Lord- and his consort, Parvati in the form of Meenakshi. The temple forms the heart and lifeline of the 2500 year old city of Madurai. The complex houses 14 magnificent Gopurams or towers including two golden Gopurams for the main deities, that are elaborately sculptured and painted. The temple is a significant symbol for the Tamil people, and has been mentioned since antiquity in Tamil literature, though the present structure is believed to have been built in 1600. The tallest temple tower is 51.9 metres (170 ft) high

Porthamarai Kulam, the sacred pond inside the temple, is a very holy site for devotees. People go around the 165 ft (50 m) by 120 ft (37 m) lake before entering the main shrine. The name means the Pond with the Golden Lotus, and the lotus that grows in it has a golden color. According to legend, Lord Shiva promised a stork that no fish or other marine life would grow here and thus no marine animals are found in the lake.[2] In the Tamil legends, the lake is supposed to be a judge for judging a worth of a new literature.
