"Cooking the books"
The signaller (the photographer) annotates the TRB (Train register book*) at Swanwick Jn signalbox at the Midland Railway, Derbyshire, 26/01/11. I was attending the railway to a photographers charter, and couldn't resist a posed self portrait inbetween train shots.
* A TRB is used to record all occurrences at a manual signalbox, times that trains are offered, accepted, entering & out of section, Plus recording of possesions of the line being taken etc.
"A stranger is shot in the street, you hardly move to help.
But if, half an hour before, you spent just ten minutes
with the fellow and knew a little about him and
his family, you might just jump in front of his
killer and try to stop it.
Really knowing is good.
Not knowing, or refusing to know is bad,
or amoral, at least. You can’t act if you don’t know."
