When does it end?



Mislim da se incidentu koji se dogodio između Sebastiana Vettela i Marka Webbera ne vidi kraj. Svaki dan neka nova vijest vezana za to.
Prvo što smo saznali jest da je Webber bio u modu za štednju goriva te to objašnjava zašto mu se Vettel približio.
Poslije smo saznali da je Webber od momčadi tražio da uspore Vettela. Možda jesam fan Vettela, ali mislim da svatko dijeli moje mišljenje....Odakle mu pravo? Ako je Vettel u tom trenutku bio brži, Webber nije imao pravo ništa tražiti od momčadi da ga uspore. Zašto bi Vettel bio drugi, kada je imao brži bolid? U svakom slučaju Red Bull nije mogao to tražiti od Vettela jer je on morao se braniti od Lewisa Hamiltona, te da je usporio Hamilton bi ga prošao.
O samome događaju incidenta možemo raspravljati godinama,i dalje bi svatko imao svoje mišljenje. Ja sam u početku svu krivnju prebacila na Webbera, jer sam naravno bila bijesna, no ako pogledate snimku ispočetka nekoliko puta možete vidjeti da: vettel je bio brži, webber je samo držao svoju poziciju. Vettel je bio preagresivan, mogao je pustiti taj zavoj, napasti u sljedećem, sigurno bi ga prešao jer je imao veću brzinu. Webber je samo držao svoju poziciju, ali nije ostavio ništa mjesta Vettelu, ako su oni toliko dobri momčadski kolege da je on mogao tražiti od momčadi da uspore Vettela, onda je on mogao toliko momčadski kolega da njemu ostavi malo mjesta jer Vettel stvarno nije imao nigdje, nego da izleti sa staze.
To je jednostavno bio vozački incident, i Red Bull je dobro reagirao kad je krivnju podijelio na dva dijela.
No sa mišljenjem momčadi se ne slaže njihov savjetnik Helmut Marko, koji tvrdi da je sva krivnja na Webbera i vjerujem da će se protiviti produženju njegovog ugovora, što je on rekao blažim riječima, ali ja sam samo izvukla zaključak koji ste i sami mogli donijeti.
Mislim da najveći gubici u svemu ovome nisu bili bodovi, nego mir unutar momčadi, prijateljstvo između Seba i Marka i ugled Red Bulla. Oni su bila prava mala momčad koja je svima draga, imali su jednak tretman prema obojici vozača (koji će se nastaviti) nikad nisu upadali u neke afere, svađe, sad sve to treba vratiti. Moraju biti složni, zaboraviti ovu noćnu moru i najvažnije pomiriti Vettela i Webbera jer imaju najbolji bolid, i ako vozači pokušavaju uništiti jedan drugome utrku sve će završiti tako da će naslov prvaka otići McLarenu ili Ferrariju.

Turkish GP 2010: Race; Hamilton win, Seb DNF because of Webber

Ne mogu vjerovati! Molim vas neka mi netko reće da se ovo danas nije dogodilo!!! Utrka je bila sjajna, zanimljiva, puna uzbuđena sve ono što Turska inače nije. Vettel je odustao zbog najveće gluposti, McLaren na poklon dobio dvostruku pobjedu, a Sauber uzeo prve bodove, no krenimo ispočetka:
Na startu utrke Webber je zadržao svoju poziciju, dok je Vettel uspješno prešao Hamiltona, no on nakon nekoliko zavoja vraća poziciju. Isto tako Button koji je bio na nečistoj strani je izgubio poziciju od Schumachera, ali ju je u sljedećem krugu odmah vratio.
Webber, Hamilton, Vettel i Button su danas bili klasa za sebe i cijelo vrijeme su bili odvojeni od Mercedesa, Ferrarija i Renaulta.
Nakon prvog (i jedinog) ulaska u boks Vettel je uspio prijeći Hamiltona te bio drugi iza Webbera. Hamilton je pritiskao Vettela no kad je vidio da neće proći je odustao, ali valjda je trebao i paziti na gume.
Zabavljali su nas dvoboji u stražnjem dijelu: Kobayashi, Petrov, Sutil i Alonso.
Onda oko 25 krugova prijekraja jedna šokantna vijest: kiša! Kiša u Turskoj. Komentatori nisu mogli vjerovati. U početku su prognoze kasnile,a dok smo čekali kišu Vettel se drastično približio Webberu. I tada se u 41.krugu dogodila katastrofa nad katastrofama. Vettel je išao prijeći Webbera s unutrašnje strane i imao je veću brzinu (jer je Webber biu u sustavu za čuvanje bodova) no Webber se nije želio maknuti, držao je svoju poziciju te su obojica izletili sa staze. Iako Red Bull nije želio okriviti niti jednog vozača, ali očito je Webber kriv. Toliko ga u ovome trenutku mrzim, prije sam ga poštovala kao vozača, a sada je sve to nestalo, iskreno mu želim sve najgore. Seb očigledno dijeli moje osjećaje jer je poludio i naravno otkrivio Webbera. Vettel je ispao iz utrke dok je Webber nastavio,samo je u boks trebao promjeniti krilo. Imao je jako veliku prednost ispred Schumachera te je na kraju završio treći što me još više frustrira.
Poslije su pale kapi kiše, ali ništa ozbiljno jer nitko nije otišao u boks po kišne gume.
I onda nekoliko krugova prije kraja još malo uzbuđenja. Hamilton je bio na vodećoj poziciji, a iza njega njegov sunarodnjak i momčadski kolega Button.Njemu očito nije bilo ovoljno drugomjesto te je napao Hamiltona i svi smo mogli vidjeti jedan od najboljih dvoboja koji je bio toliko pošten, nitko nije želio nikoga izgurati sa staze. Nažalost glavni u McLarenu su vozačima naredili da prekinu dvoboj (valjda zbog onoga što se dogodilo s Red Bullom) zbog toga što nemaju dovoljno goriva (i Hamilton i Button) pa su vozili jako sporo do kraja utrke.
Na kraju je još bio dvoboj Alonso i Petrov, gdje je dobio naravno Alonso, dok je Petrov imao oštećenu gumu te je morao u boks, izgubio bodove koje je osvojio Sauber. Utjeha Rusu je sjajna utrka i najbrži krug. Sjajno za Renault je vozio i Robert Kubica na 6. mjestu.
Ferrari je imao dosta lošu utrku.Alonso jeuspio doćido 8.mjesta,dok Massu nismo vidjeli cijelu utrku. Mislim da dosta kasne za Red Bullom i McLarenom.
Dobru utrku je imao i Mercedes te je Schumacher opet bio brži od Rosberga.
Hamilton mi je na postolju izgledao dosta ljuto, niti malo sretno očito zbog dvoboja. Nije svjestan da se i Button zna boriti i da mu neće popuštati.

SV: “If you watch it on the TV, you can see what happened. I’m not in the happiest of moods. I was on the inside going into the corner. I was there, I was ahead and focusing on the braking point and then we touched. Mark’s car hit my rear right wheel and I went off – there’s not much more to say. We were all on the same pace during the race, I think I was a bit quicker than Mark for two or three laps, I was catching him and thought I could get him on the back straight. I was very close and passed him on the left, that’s the story. This is something that happens, no one needs it, but there’s not much you can do now.”

Christian Horner: “It’s disappointing for the team to have got into that position today. The one thing I always ask the drivers is that, yes, they can race each other, but give each other room, and that’s exactly what didn’t happen. They were too far over on the left, Sebastian got a run on the inside of Mark, but then came across too early. They didn’t give each other room; it’s as simple as that. It was a massively close race between us and the McLarens up until that point. We managed to get ourselves ahead with a better pit-stop and a better strategy for Sebastian and were first and second. Sebastian was a bit happier on the prime tyre than Mark and was looking quicker at that point in the race. He got a run on Mark up the inside and we saw what happened. It’s massively disappointing and the situation shouldn’t have occurred. To give McLaren 28 points on a plate is very frustrating for everyone in the team - especially after so much hard work. We’ve lost a lot of points today with what’s happened. We need to learn from it, so we don’t find ourselves in this position again.”


Najbolji trenuci GP vikenda u Turskoj:



Mislim da Webber nije sada u dobrome položaju za produženje ugovora, iako Red Bull ne favorizira nikoga svi znamo da je Seb njihova mala beba i središte cijele momčadi, te kad se bude odlučivalo o Webberovom ugovoru da će Vettelovo protivljenje produženju imati veliku važnost. Ako ne znate što je Seb Red Bullu, pomoći ću vam: isto ono što je Schumacher bio Ferrariju.
Za dva tjedna eto nas u Kanadi, napokon se vratila, jako mi je falila. Valjda će tamo Vettel napokon dokazati da je bolji, od svih, ali pogotovo od Webbera.

Red Bull ustanovio da je na Vettelovom bolidu puknuo roll-bar

Red Bull Racing je u subotu navečer objavio da su problemi koje je njihov vozač Sebastian Vettel imao na kvalifikacijama za VN Turske bili uzrokovani slomljenim spojevima roll-bara.
Vettel se, podsjetimo, nakon kvalifikacija žalio na blokiranje prednjeg lijevog kotača u posljednjem kvalifikacijskom segmentu, što ga je onemogućilo da se sa svojim momčadskim kolegom Markom Webberom bori za najbolju startnu poziciju.
Premda sportski pravilnik ne dozvoljava promjene na bolidima između kvalifikacija i utrke, FIA će Red Bullu ipak dozvoliti da sutra ujutro zamijeni oštećene dijelove.

Turkish GP 2010: Qualifying; Webber pole, Seb only 3rd

Jedne od najgorih kvalifikacija ako mene pitaš. Turska jednostavno ne daje mnogo uzbuđena, jednostavno nema gledatelja i nije toliko užitak kao na primjer u Monaku. Osim toga Vettel je sa sjajnim bolidom završio tek treći zbog oštećenja na kočnicama, dok je njegov momčadski kolega Mark Webber osvojio svoj četvrti ovosezonski pole position i treći uzastopno. Red Bull izgleda sjajno sa svih 7 osvojenih pole positiona i uvijek su se nalazili u top 3.
U Q3 su standarno ispali Virgin, HRT i Lotus, a jedan bez sreće ili "sedmo prase" je bio Luizzi u Force Indiji koji je kasnio otprilike sekundu za Sutilom.
Q2 nam je donio malo uzbuđenja i po meni jedinu dobru stvar, a to je što se Ferrari kockao i Alonsa u zadnji tren poslao na stazu na mekim gumama te nije prošao i starta s 12. pozicije. Još su ispali dva Williamsa Hulkenberg i Barrichello, dva Torro Rossa Buemi i Alguersuari, de la Rosa u Sauberu i tužnija vijest je Sutil na 11. mjestu.
Zbog toga što je Schumacher izletio krug prije kraja Q1 Rosberg i Kubica su morali usporiti i nisu mogli odvoziti svoje leteće krugove, a Vettel je imao problema s kočnicama te je jedini kandidat za pole bio Webber iako je McLaren dosta bio brz. Iskreno mislim da je Vettel bio brži u Turskoj i da je on trebao osvojiti pole, ali njemu se dogodi svaka nesreća koja je moguća. Drugi je bio Hamilton u McLarenu, a njegov momčadski kolega Jason Button četvrti te dijeli startni red s Vettelom, iza njih su dva Mercedesa od kojih je Rosberg bio brži. Renault je sjajan i u Turskoj s Kubicom na 7. i Petrovom na 9. mjestu. Rusu je ovo prvi prolazak u završnu rundu. Između njih se ugurao Felipe Massa što dokazuje jako lošu formu Ferrarija te bi trebali hitno reagirati. Deseti je bio sjajni Kamui Kobayashi u Sauberu.
Vidila se tuga na Sebovom licu i znao da je mogao do pole positiona.

SV: "Q1 and Q2 were very smooth; I was happy with the car and there were no problems. In Q3, the first lap was brilliant up to Turn 12, then under braking I slightly locked the front which was no issue, but it was very weird as the inside front just kept locking and never came back. Going into Turn 13 I was turning to the right and the wheels started turning again and then the same thing going into Turn 14. I locked the inside wheel very easily, the car didn’t seem to stop, so I lost time. On the second run I got confirmation in the first turn there was a problem, as I hit the brakes and went straight - I lost the ability to stop the car and the inside wheel didn’t do what it was supposed to. In Q1 and Q2 we were on top of the game, but in Q3 we were not, so it’s quite frustrating. All weekend I have felt very good, particularly today. Third is still a good position; I’m on the clean side of the grid tomorrow and it’s a long race. It’s difficult to make up places now with the new regulations, but we’ll see what we can do.”

Christian Horner: “Another great performance by Mark today for his third consecutive pole and the team’s seventh of the year, which is a great achievement. It was difficult for Sebastian who, having been the quickest car during Q1 and Q2, experienced a car problem in the last part of qualifying. We need to understand what it was, as it cost him quite a bit of time. However to salvage third place is still excellent. I also have to say congratulations to Cengiz, one of our drivers, who delivered some last minute parts to Mark Webber’s car just in time for the start of the session. So, three very fast drivers today.”

Q: Sebastian, for three quarters of a lap on your first flying lap it looked absolutely brilliant. Then it started to go wrong. Talk us through the latter stages of qualifying?

After turn 12 going into turn 13 turning to the right then the wheel started turning again. Then the same thing going into turn 14, the last corner. I locked the inside of the wheel very easily. The car didn't seem to stop. I just went straight. I did lose a lot of time there. That was quite bad, otherwise I think it should have been easily quite a lot quicker. Then the same thing. I thought 'ok, maybe I was just a bit late.' Then the second run I got the confirmation in the first lap, the first turn, when I hit the brakes and I just went straight, so I lost the ability to stop the car properly. Especially the inside wheel, it didn't do what it was supposed to do. I think there is no question. Q1 and Q2 we were top of the game. Then Q3 we were not anymore which was a bit frustrating. All weekend I felt pretty good, especially today. The car is back to normal, so I was able to push. Then something else turns up. We will see, but it is good to be third. I think we are quite lucky not to be fourth, just for a couple of hundredths just to Jenson. Otherwise I would have had to start from the dirty side. We are on the clean side tomorrow, so let's see, it's a long race. But with this year's regulations and no more fuel pit stops it is a bit difficult to make up places but we will see what we can do.

Q: Sebastian, third on the grid, do you feel that locking brake is something that's going to re-occur? Is that something that worries you for the race itself?
SV: We need to see what it was. Obviously it was very strange and I had another run afterwards. I locked the front in the first run at turn 12 in Q3 which was not a problem, you can carry on, but it didn't stop locking and then as soon as I changed direction and got up to speed again, and then into 14, the last bit where you just need a bit of brakes the same thing happened, I went straight on. Then, obviously, I had the confirmation on the last run: approaching the first corner the same thing happened, so we need to see what exactly happened. I think there's no question that before that we were quite comfortable and quickest in Q1 and Q2, so we need to see what it was. We can't change it now, the story is written. It's still good to be in P3 with a horrible last sector on the first run but, yeah, I think in the end we are a bit lucky not to be fourth. Still, we need to understand why - what exactly happened?

Q: And up until then you had been so happy with your new chassis.
SV: Yes, definitely, I think we made a big step forward. Apart from the chassis we had a couple of other things we found that possibly let us down. Obviously in Monaco we finished second but at some stage we lost more than a second to Mark, so that was obviously too much and I think that for the whole of this weekend it was quite a bit better, especially today, so back to normal but when it counted today it didn't all come together, so we need to see why.

Q: (Frederic Ferret - L'Equipe) Sebastian, does your brake trouble look like the same problem you had in Malaysia, Australia or in Spain, or is it different?
SV: In Australia I had no real chance to carry on. In Barcelona it was something completely different. I don't know what it was. We need to see. It was just strange. It's not a big deal if you lock up the front left going into 12, this is what all the guys do; it's just a question of why it felt so weird from the inside and then obviously into 13, I lost a little bit but then again in 14 it didn't work and I just went straight as if something is wrong. I thought that at this stage OK, maybe I just made a mistake. I have to do it again, but then on the second lap in Q3 arriving at turn one the same thing happened, so I was not able to stop the car as well as I usually could, so then the front left locked again, didn't come back and I just went straight and I had already lost a lot of time. Obviously the second run in Q3 was done.

Q: (Livio Oricchio - O Estado de Sao Paulo) Sebastian, you used to qualify in front of Webber and in the last few races you were always in the back...
SV: Pretty bad, isn't it? In the back… we're still third.

Q: (Livio Oricchio - O Estado de Sao Paulo) What's your interpretation for that? You have always had problems to justify it or maybe you have to admit that Webber is faster than you at the moment?
SV: Well, I think if you look at all the races, I think we have always qualified in the top three so far, which I think is not too bad. If you take the last two races in particular, Barcelona and Monaco, I think it's difficult to say, looking back, how much we lost because of potentially the chassis being damaged or other things going on in the car which we didn't want to. I'm not the type of guy who just says the car was broken and then that's it. I always try to do my best and if I'm too slow I try to do better. But nonetheless, I think if you look today, Q1/Q2 is a pretty straightforward answer. We were quick enough and then in Q3 for some reason we lost it. As I said, we need to see why. Obviously if you look at the whole picture… you mentioned every race is its own story, so we need to see what happened here and then we will see what we can do tomorrow. I think the pace should be very good.

Sutra bi mogla biti dobra utrka, Vettel starta s čiste strane te samo treba prijeći Hamiltona na startu i tijekom utrke Webbera. Naravno ako mu se ne dogodi još neki kvar!

Turkish GP 2010: Free Practice 3

Red Bull Racingov vozač Sebastian Vettel je postavio najbrže vrijeme na posljednjem slobodnom treningu u Istanbulu, premda se činilo da će prvo mjesto pripasti McLarenovom vozaču Lewisu Hamiltonu koji je sve do završnice držao najbrži krug.
Nakon što je u prvom letećem krugu izletio u 8. zavoju, Vettel je u sljedećem navratu bio oprezniji te je odvozio 1:27.086, čime je za 0.3 sekunde bio ispred ostalih vozača.
U završnim sekundama treninga, na treće mjesto je skočio Mercedesov vozač Nico Rosberg, poguravši Lewisa Hamiltona tako na treće mjesto.
Mark Webber, koji je i danas imao tehničkih problema, je na kraju imao četvrto najbrže vrijeme. Najprije su ga mučili problemi s gasom, a zatim je imao izlaske na 1. i 4. zavoju te spektakularno okretanje na zahtjevom 8. zavoju u svom posljednjem krugu.
Hamiltonovi problemi su bili gotovo jednako spektakularni jer je i on izletio u 8. zavoju i izvrtio se, uništivši tako obje stražnje gume.
Robert Kubica je bio konkurentan tijekom cijelog jutra i trening je zaključio s petim najbržim vremenom ispred Alonsa u Ferrariju, Schumachera u Mercedesu i sporijeg McLarenovog vozača - Jensona Buttona.
Jedini vozač koji nije postavio vrijeme je bio Adrian Sutil, koji je imao problema s hidraulikom.

Turkish GP 2010: Friday; Vettel: Randy Mandy je super / Red Bull neće u nastavku VN Turske korisitit F-duct

Po završetku prvih slobodnih treninga u Istanbulu, Sebastian Vettel je izjavio da je odluka o promjeni šasije uoči turskog GP vikenda bila ispravna.
Vettel ipak nije dobio potpuno novu šasiju, nego su ga vratili na onu s nadimkom "Randy Mandy" koju je koristio na prvoj ovosezonskoj utrci u Bahreinu.
"Sada se osjećam puno prirodnije i promjena je bila dobra odluka. Općenito sam prilično zadovoljan balansom kojeg bolid ima. Na stazi je danas bilo jako malo gripa jer ovdje gotovo nitko da i ne vozi, osim možda nekih bogatih Turaka s Ferrarijma. Ali, gripa nije bilo... Moramo napraviti puno posla i položiti još gume na stazu pa će sutra biti bolje."
Red Bull Racing je danas prvi put od početka sezone testirao i vlastitu interpretaciju F-duct sustava, a Vettel je prilično zadovoljan viđenim.
"Mislim da sam zadovoljan današnjim danom. Sve je bilo normalno, ali i teško jer smo testirali F-duct. Stvar funkcionira, ali ne još 100%. Moramo odraditi fina podešavanja, ali za sada je dobro. McLaren izgleda jako konkurentno, njihov sistem funkcionira iz onoga što smo zaključili. Malo su brži od svih drugih na pravcima. McLaren je ovdje sigurno malo jači, ali ni drugi nisu predaleko. Sve je jako izjednačeno."
Unatoč tome Red Bull je odlučio da F-duct neće koristiti u nastavku VN Turske jer im nije toliko koristan te gube downforce. Ponovno će ga testirati na slobodnim treninzima u Kanadi.

Zahvaljujući najbržem vremenu Jensona Buttona, McLaren je i na drugom slobodnom treningu u Turskoj ostao na vrhu poretka, dok su Red Bullovi vozači Mark Webber i Sebastian Vettel imali drugo i treće najbrže vrijeme, usprkos tehničkim problemima koji su se na njihovim bolidima pojavili u zadnjim minutama.
Drugi slobodni trening se u prvoj polovici nije puno razlikovao od prvog; barem kada su u pitanju bile vodeće pozicije jer su Hamilton i Button prva dva mjesta okupirali sa svojim prvim letećim krugovima.
Slijedili su ih Red Bullovi, Mercedesovi, Renaultovi, Sauberovi i Force Indijini vozači, čineći tako formaciju momčadskih kolega do 12. mjesta.
U 40. minuti prije kraja Hamilton je prešao na mekše gume i svoje je vrijeme unaprijedio za 0.020 sek., odvozivši krug od 1.28.672. No, samo nekoliko sekundi kasnije, Vettel vozi još brže - 1:28.590.
Nijemac je na prvoj poziciji ostao još pet minuta, nakon čega je Button odvozio najbrži krug od 1:28.280, što će ostati najbržim vremenom i do kraja treninga.
Webber je uzeo drugo mjesto od svog momčadskog kolege Vettela, no pet minuta prije kraja treninga je se zaustavio na stazi. Još nije poznato o kakvim se problemima radi, osim što je bio primjetan izlazak dima iz stražnjeg kraja njegovog Red Bulla.
Vettel je, pak, preko radija izrazio zabrinutost zbog pritiska vode.
Hamilton je do kraja treninga ostao na četvrtom mjestu, a peto najbrže vrijeme je u završnici odvozio Ferrarijev vozač Fernando Alonso.
Mercedesovi vozači su bili šesti i sedmi najbrži, no ovog je puta brži bio Nico Rosberg. Slijede ih dva Renaulta te Felipe Massa u Ferrariju.

SV: “It was a reasonable day - and quite tough as we introduced the F-duct. We still need to do some fine tuning, but it looks good. I think McLaren looks very competitive here, their system seems to be working well and they seem quite a bit quicker than everyone else on the straights. You can make up time in the corners, but there are quite a few straights joining them. We’ll see if we keep our system on. It feels more natural now with the new chassis, it was good to change it and overall I was happy with the balance of the car.”

McLarenov vozač Lewis Hamilton je postavio najbrže vrijeme na prvom slobodnom treningu u Turskoj, a s gotovo sekundom zaostatka ga slijedi momčadski kolega Jenson Button, drugi najbrži jutros.
Hamilton je na prvo mjesto došao na polovici treninga, koja je bila vrlo intenzivna nakon prilično tihog početka.
Premda je nekoliko momčadi, uključujući Mercedes i Force Indiju, odradilo više instalacijskih krugova nego obično, i to zbog testiranja novih dijelova, trebalo je proći još pola sata prije nego što su prvi vozači odvozili svoje leteće krugove i još 15 minuta prije nego što su vodeći vozači uhvatili brzinu.
Prvo mjesto su najprije držali Sebastian Vettel i Robert Kubica, nakon čega su McLarenovi vozači započeli privatnu borbu. Hamilton je najprije postavio najbrže vrijeme od 1:29.672, na što je Button nakon nekoliko krugova odgovorio s 1.29.623.
Nakon pet minuta, Hamilton je odvozio najbrži krug od 1:28.653, čime je od Buttona bio brži za čak 0.962 sek. Situacija je takva ostala do kraja treninga.
Schumacher od Rosberga brži za desetinku
Mercedesovi vozači su bili treći i četvrti najbrži, a prednost Michaela Schumachera ispred svog momčadskog kolege Rosberga je iznosila jednu desetinku. Krug prve šestorice zatvaraju Vettel i Kubica, kojeg na dobrom sedmom mjestu prati momčadski kolega Vitalij Petrov.
Mark Webber je bio osmi najbrži u Red Bullu, dok je Fernando Alonso s devetim vremenom bio najbrži Ferrarijev vozač.
Prvi trening je prošao bez većih incidenata, a jedini je bio Sutilov. Nijemac je izgubio kontrolu nad svojim bolidom u 8. zavoju, izvrtio se i udario u zaštitnu ogradu.
Od vozača iz novih momčadi je najbrži bio Heikki Kovalainen, koji se Jaime Alguersuariju u Toro Rossu približio na pola sekunde.
Umjesto Bruna Senne, na 1. sl. treningu za HRT je vozio Sakon Yamamoto. Japanac, inače bivši Agurijev i Spykerov vozač, je bio najsporiji.

Vettelu laknulo kad je saznao da će dobiti novu šasiju

Red Bull Racingov vozač Sebastian Vettel je izjavio da mu je laknulo kad je saznao da je na posljednjim utrkama bio sporiji od svog prosjeka zbog kvara šasije.
Podsjetimo, od Vettela je na VN Španjolske i Monaka bio brći i njegov momčadski kolega, nakon čega je austrijska momčad detaljnom inspekcijom utvrdila oštećenja na Vettelovoj šasiji, premda nisu precizirali o čemu se točno radi.
Kako bilo, Vettel će od VN Turske voziti s potpuno novom šasijom, što bi ga trebalo vratiti u prijašnju formu.
"To vam nikako ne može biti prednost. Nikako nisam bio zadovoljan s posljednje dvije utrke. To posebno vrijedi za zadnju utrku. Ako pogledate ponovljene startove iza sigurnosnog automobila, vidjet ćete da je Webber od mene u nekim krugovima bio brži i za cijelu sekundu. Monako, srećom, nije mjesto na kojem ima pretjecanja jer sam imao problema s i Robertom koji je vozio iza mene. Već se nekoliko utrka žalim da nešto nije kako treba i bila je dobra vijest kada sam u nedjelju navečer saznao da ćemo svejedno mijenjati šasiju. Mislim da to puno toga objašnjava. Iznad svega, također smo pronašli i neke druge stvari koje nisu radile kako treba." izjavio je Vettel.
Premda smatra da je njegov momčadski kolega Webber imao dobre nastupe na posljednjim utrkama, Vettel misli da je njegov zaostatak ipak bio presumnjiv.
"On je cijelo vrijeme bio prilično zadovoljan, a ja nisam. Ali, svejedno mislim da je napravio jako dobar posao." rekao je.
No, upozorio je da ne bi trebalo očekivati da će s novom šasijom automatski nadoknaditi zaostatak i biti brži.
"Ne, to ne znači da ćemo se samo pojaviti na utrci i da će sve odjednom biti riješeno. Imamo još jako puno posla i moramo dati sve od sebe da opet budemo na vrhu poretka."
I samo da napomenem da će Red Bull u Turskoj po prvi put koristiti svoj tek razvijeni F-duct.

Horner: Vettel je spreman osvojiti naslov

Red Bull Racingov direktor Christian Horner smatra da je Sebastian Vettel ove godine spreman osvojiti naslov svjetskog prvaka.
"Dovoljno je zreo da uzme prvenstvo. Prošle je godine ipak bilo malo prerano. No sada ima iskustvo, znanje i kompletan je. Ima tri kvalitete: prirodnu brzinu, inteligenciju i snažnu osobnost. Uz to je i duhovit. Momčad ga obožava." izjavio je Horner za Gazzettu dello Sport.
Isto tako Horner je pohvalio Marka Webbera, vodećega u prvenstvu:
"Prošle godine je također pokazao sjajnu konzistentnost jer je od ljeta pa do kraja sezone bio Buttonov najopasniji suparnik, izuzev nekoliko loših utrka. Samo ih nekolicina ima njegovu brzinu. On prisiljava Vettela da bude još brži, odlično se slažu." zaključio je Horner.

Povijest:
Ova turska staza još je jedno remek-djelo uglednog njemačkog arhitekta, Hermana Tilkea. Staza je po prvi put uvrštena u kalendar utrka svjetskog prvenstva Formule 1 2005. godine. Ono što ju čini na neki način posebnom jest to da se bolidi voze u suprotnom smjeru kazaljke na satu. Prema planiranjima, ova staza može ugostiti oko 155 000 posjetitelja.
Na premijernoj V.N. Turske 2005. godine pobjedu je slavio Kimi Raikkonen u McLaren-Mercedesu. Iako je bilo gotovo sigurno kako će drugo mjesto pripasti Juanu-Pablu Montoyi, te da će McLaren slaviti 1. i 2. osvojeno mjesto, samo tri kruga prije kraja Tiago Monteiro se zabio u stražnji kraj Kolumbijčeva bolida. Montoya je uspio zadržati drugu poziciju samo jedan krug, nakon čega je proklizao zbog oštećenja na bolidu i tako omogućio da ga Fernando Alonso prestigne.
Srećom za Juana-Pabla, četvrtoplasirani Fisichella je bio toliko daleko da je na kraju ipak zauzeo najnižu stepenicu postolja.
Na drugoj V.N. Turske, održanoj godinu dana kasnije, pobjedu je odnio Felipe Massa ispred Fernanda Alonsa i momčadskog kolege Michaela Schumachera. Massi je ovo bila prva pobjeda u F1 karijeri, koju je osvojio samo dan nakon prvog plasmana na pole poziciji.
2007. godine, baš kao godinu dana ranije, Felipe Massa je ponovno završio na najvišoj stepenici podija. Brazilac je ovoga puta bio završio ispred momčadskog kolege Kimija Raikkonena, te Fernanda Alonsa.
Godinu dana kasnije, Felipe Massa je treći put za redom slavio pobjedu. Drugi je završio Lewis Hamilton, dok je treći bio Kimi Raikkonen.
2009. na turskom je tlu Jenson Button stigao do svoje šeste pobjede u sezoni. Na podiju su mu se pridružili Red Bullovi vozači - Mark Webber i Sebastian Vettel.

Red Bull Racing traži naslovnog sponzora

Odlične forme austrijske momčadi Red Bull Racing, koja ove sezone bilježi svoje najbolje rezultate od osnivanja, nisu svjesni samo navijači i suparnici.
Dolaskom modne marke Pepe Jeans i brokerske kuće FXDD, Red Bull Racing je svoj proračun potpomogao s nešto više od 4.5 milijuna eura, a vlasnik Red Bulla, Dietrich Mateschitz je u intervjuu kojeg je dao novinama Express otkrio da se spremaju dovesti glavnog i naslovnog sponzora u momčad.
Miljarder inače rijetko komunicira s medijima, no ovog je puta učinio iznimku zato što je s druge strane bio ugledni ekonomski analitičar Formule 1 Chris Sylt, kojem je rekao da "će dolazak naslovnog sponzora postati moguć čim Red Bull Racing bude priznat kao etablirana momčad."
S obzirom na formu i rezultate koje postižu, Red Bull Racing definitvno nije daleko od tog statusa, u slučaju da ga još nema.
Još nije poznato kojim sponzorima bi Red Bull Racing dozvolio da se reklamiraju na njihovim prestižnim površinama, no navodno ciljaju na marke koje proizvode ili trguju luksuznim dobrima. Naslovno sponzorstvo bi im godišnje moglo donijeti i do 45 milijuna eura, što je ipak nešto manje od svote koje neke druge marke plaćaju pojedinim momčadima za isticanje njihovih zaštitnih obilježja. Jedan od razloga zbog kojeg Red Bull Racing ne može dobiti više je i taj što će budući glavni sponzor momčadi oglasni prostor i ime dijeliti s etabliranim i globalno poznatim brandom kakav je sam Red Bull.
Dolazak sponzora bi rasteretio i kompaniju Red Bull koja u svoju momčad godišnje injektira približno 120 milijuna eura, što bi im bilo još značajnije s obzirom na aktualne trendove prema kojima bilježe 1.7 manju zaradu nego prošle godine (4.2 milijarde eura).
Vjeruje se da je Red Bull Racing trenutno najveća investicija kompanije, od koje gotovo da i nema nikakve izravne financijske koristi. Jedan od razloga je i nepostojanje glavnog i naslovnog sponzora, a drugi razlog je i činjenica da je za sponzoriranje Red Bull Racinga općenito zainteresirano manje kompanija, nego što je to slučaj s drugim momčadima.
Prema procjenama Formula Moneya, Red Bull Racing godišnje primi oko 30.9 milijuna eura sponzorskog novca, što je osjetno manje od prosjeka svih drugih momčadi zajedno, što iznosi 59.8 milijuna eura. Za razliku od drugih momčadi, Red Bull Racing trenutno ne nudi veće oglasne površine, s obzirom da njihovim vizualnim identitetom u potpunosti dominiraju boje vlastitog energetskog napitka.
Ipak, Mateschitz kaže da Red Bull u Formuli 1 "nema dugoročne ili srednjoročne poslovne planove," što se ne bi dalo zaključiti s obzirom na opseg investicija od 2004. kada su momčad od Forda kupili za simboličnu jednu funtu. Vjeruje se da samo Adriana Neweya plaćaju više od 10 milijuna eura, no Mateschitz vjeruje u snagu Formule 1.
"Globalni dosezi Formule 1 su jedinstveni i realno se mogu uspoređivati jedino s, možda, nogometom. Utrke se organiziraju i prenose na gotovo svim našim tržištima, uz iznimku SAD-a gdje je Formula 1 još uvijek daleko od realizacije svog punog teoretskog potencijala."

Prelazak u Ferrari nije vjerojatan za Vettela?

Red Bullov motorsportski savjetnik dr. Helmut Marko sumnja da će Sebastian Vettel ozbiljnije razmišljati o prelasku u Ferrari.
Vjeruje se da je dvadesetdvogodišnji Vettel s Red Bullom pod ugovorom do kraja 2011., a prije nekoliko dana je rekao da na Ferrari gleda kao na svog mogućeg budućeg poslodavca.
No, Austrijanac Marko smatra da prelazak u Ferrari u tako bliskoj budućnosti možda i nije baš dobra ideja.
"Ferrari je nešto vrlo posebno za svakog vozača," rekao je Marko novinskoj agenciji APA.
"Ali, samo pogledajte situaciju. Zašto bi uopće išao tamo i bio s Alonsom kada mu je s nama i više nego dobro?"
Marko je otkrio i da Red Bull nema ugovor s Vettelom koji ga obvezuje da cijelu F1 karijeru provede s njihovom momčadi.
"Nismo to željeli. Ovdje bi se trebao osjećati kao doma i trebao bi željeti voziti za nas."
Austrijanac je još otkrio i da su pregovori s aktualnom vozačkom postavom Red Bull Racinga u "tijeku" te je dodao da je Red Bull u dobroj pregovaračkoj poziciji.

Sebastian Vettel će dobiti novu šasiju

Sebastian Vettel će od Velike nagrade Turske voziti s novom šasijom, nakon što je Red Bull Racing ustanovio da je šasija koju je koristio u Monaku bila oštećena.
Riječ je o šasiji koja je numerirana s brojem 3, a oštećenja su utvrđena nakon što je u bazi momčadi, u Milton Keynesu podvrgnuta detaljnoj analizi.
Red Bull nije želio precizirati o kakvim se oštećenjima točno radi, no upravo bi ona mogla dati odgovor na neobičnu situaciju u kojoj Vettel tijekom posljednje dvije utrke nije mogao držati korak sa svojim momčadskim kolegom Webberom.
Kako Red Bull obojici svojih vozača želi pružiti jednake šanse u prvenstvu, odlučeno je da će Vettel na raspolaganje već od sljedeće utrke dobiti potpuno novu šasiju.
"Sebastian Vettel je iskusio neke neobične karakteristike upraljanja trenutne šasije tijekom VN Monaka. Nakon detaljnje istrage, utvrđen je maleni defekt na šasiji pa će za utrku u Turskoj dobiti novu," izjavio je direktor momčadi Christian Horner.

Q&A with Red Bull's Christian Horner

Šef Red Bulla Christian Horner odgovorio je na nekoliko pitanja nakon dvostruke pobjede momčadi u Monte Carlu:

Q: Christian, how does it feel to become a serial winner?
Christian Horner: Well, obviously it feels very good - in fact it’s fantastic. The Monaco Grand Prix and the Silverstone race are the two big ones for the team to win and to get a one-two finish here is a brilliant team result.

Q: You went to pick up the constructor’s trophy. Obviously Monaco is the place where team principals always go themselves…
CH: This is such a fantastic place and if both your drivers have delivered a one-two victory, well, on this occasion I went up. It was a great feeling.

Q: Did you envision such a result? Robert Kubica could have spring a surprise?
CH: Robert was fast all weekend long and he did a great job to push Sebastian hard through the race - and obviously we had to manage the tyre situation. All three drivers on the podium did a great job.

Q: Vettel said on Saturday that he hoped to out-accelerate Kubica into the first corner. Was that the strategy you talked about before the start?
CH: We have had very good starts this year and here again both drivers had excellent starts, and it was great to see both Red Bulls leading into the first corner.

Q: Is Vettel happy? He’s the kind of driver to whom finishing second makes him feel like he’s the first loser…
CH: Sebastian knew that Mark would be very difficult to beat. He gained a position at the start and both are leading the championship with the same amount of points - even though Mark has one more win under his belt - so Sebastian should not be too disappointed. It’s a long season and we are very fortunate to have two competitive drivers.

Q: How well do Vettel and Webber work together?
CH: There is a great balance, probably because of the particular characteristics of both drivers. They work together very well and for a team out to win championships it is always great to have two drivers who are at different stages of their career and that makes a great balance in the team.

Q: Will you have an ‘F-duct’ in Turkey?
CH: Well, it could play a role in Turkey. We are doing the research and for sure at the next couple of races we will have a look at it, but we will only introduce it when it earns a place on the car.

Q: Does it make sense to introduce it when the RB6 is outperforming all the other cars - those with and without an ‘F-duct’?
CH: We have to do all the R&D and the research, but as with all our upgrades it will only find a place on the car when it makes sense.

Q: Have you already received a call from Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz?
CH: I hope he had the opportunity to watch the race because I think he would have loved to hear the Austrian national anthem being played in Monte Carlo. It is a very proud moment for him and the team.

Nakon odlične utrke za oba Red Bullova vozača Marka Webbera i Sebastiana Vettela moraju odgovoriti na nekoliko pitanja prije nego što se ode slaviti ovako sjajan rezultat:

Q: Mark, how does the champagne taste in Monaco?
Mark Webber: Very, very sweet! And in the evening I’m sure I will give it another try. But yes indeed, it was a very special day. Even a special week. Two race wins within one week and bagging 50 points is already very special, but to win in Monaco is a quite unique thing in itself. There is no driver that raced in Formula One that would not have liked to win here and it sure is the biggest highlight of my life in terms of race wins. It’s a very special event and a very challenging race for the driver. The walls are everywhere and the concentration is at its maximum, and with the safety cars you always had to get back into your rhythm and get everything to temperature again - tyres, brakes. Obviously Seb (Vettel) had little problems at the re-starts, which helped me a little bit. In the end he drove a very strong race as well and we made it a one-two.

Q: It’s been not only two race wins within one week, it’s been two pole to podium wins…
MW: Yeah, it was indeed an amazing week for me and obviously I enjoyed every minute of it. After we came back from China I thought that I have to get my finger out when we get back to Europe and to win the first European races is amazing. I wouldn’t mind if it would go on like that - I like it that way.

Q: So in the end the safety car was your biggest opponent today?
MW: Yes, happily enough I only saw the safety car in front of me and not another Formula One car. True it is not good to have so many safety cars in one race - it only can be distracting and you can pick up debris that might lead to a serious issue. We had people crashing, we had a few fires, but hey, that is Monaco. Fortunately for us we’ve been able to keep out of all that. Our race obviously was straightforward and boring - that’s how we like them.

Q: Can you tell us how your race unfolded?
MW: Well, the start was not the best, but I got into a good rhythm very fast and managed a gap to Sebastian early in the race. Then I was just focusing to get the maximum out of the tyres, but not too much. The first pit stop went very well and I settled in very easily. But then came the safety car - in fact we had a lot of safety cars in my second stint and it is always difficult to get everything restarted again. In fact I had to win the race four times today! You probably risk a little more to get away from the other guys and then the safety car equalizes everything again and you have the same guys on your heels again. In the last 15 laps I had the impression that the barriers seem to come closer and closer. This race is really testing you.

Q: Frank Williams, your team boss before you joined Red Bull, said that you are now a contender for the title and that there is no point in denying it…
MW: Ah, let’s see. It’s nice to have a lot of points at the moment. But the season is still long and we will go to venues like Montreal or Budapest and other tracks where we have to go with eyes wide open to get a result. But there is no need for the Italian people to panic yet: Ferrari are also very strong and everything is still wide open. There are not only two drivers who fight for the championship.

Q: Your Monaco triumph marks only the second Aussie win here since 1959 and Sir Jack Brabham - that must make you very proud…
MW: To be honest I wouldn’t be here without Jack. My father started to follow single-seater racing when he was very young and was a huge fan of Formula One, and when Jack started to win my father really got into it and I am the result. To win here in the same streets as Jack did obviously two generations ago is an amazing thing for me.

Q: You seem to be like a very fine wine - getting better with every year…
MW: Well, yes, the last two races went very well for me, but I sure have to keep pushing and my motivation is very good. I’ve always taken every year as it comes and this year feels very right.

Q: Sebastian, what is your take on the championship now?
Sebastian Vettel: Well, Mark and I are obviously equal in points, but Mark has already two wins and in such a situation that is what makes the difference. But that is the momentary situation. It’s a still a long season ahead and in two weeks in Istanbul things can look very different.

Q: Is it easier to battle you team mate or easier if it were someone else?
SV: It definitely is easier with your team mate because you know what he has and what he is doing, whereas if you are fighting someone else you’re only guessing what his next steps will be. But in the end it’s not only about Mark and myself. You never should underestimate your other opponents. Teams like McLaren and Ferrari - even if they are a little bit behind at the moment -will come closer for sure in the course of the season.

Q: Obviously you had a good start - seems you made everything right in those crucial few seconds…
SV: I was not that satisfied as I realized that the engine speed was dramatically going down and that immediately made me think, ‘Oh boy, now it’s going to be difficult.’ But obviously the grip was there and then I immediately noticed that I was starting better than Mark in front of me. Then a look to my left side told me that I was also accelerating better than Robert (Kubica) and heading for the first corner I had a comfortable second position - and that was crucial.

Q: How hotly was Robert breathing down you neck? Sometimes he came pretty close…
SV: Thanks to the wind I didn’t really feel it so much! But yes, the yellow car was always there and there was no way to deny that when looking into the mirror. The ‘bee’ was there behind me throughout the race, but sometimes it’s good to know that overtaking here in Monaco is one of the more difficult endeavours. So I was relatively relaxed and I focused on those corners where it could become critical, so no real problem.

Q: Mark probably drove the best race of his career here and seems to have huge self confidence. What is your plan to catch him?
SV: Well, I think the likelihood there is that it goes the other way around. Today I’m happy with my second place - I would say no more was possible. At the beginning and after the safety-car phases I always had a bit of a problem getting up on temperature and you could see that I was losing time on Mark and was able to get closer only after a few laps. Why that happened we have to find out when analyzing the data. Overall I consider it a good race for me with good points - points that can make the difference for the title win.

Q: The RB6 seems to work perfectly well on any race track, no matter fast or slow. Are you both your biggest competitors?
SV: Never underestimate the other teams. Maybe at the moment we have a good run and the car feels great on any kind of track, but in this competitive environment you always have to push the hard for the next development step. For sure at the moment we are in good shape but you should never rest on your laurels.

Q: How did it feel to walk up those stairs and receive the trophy?
SV: Well, in fact only three stairs - and I would say that a traditional podium as we have at all the other races is more impressive. But sure it is a special moment. It was the first time for me here so that will linger in my memory.

Monaco GP 2010: Race; Red Bull 1-2 win by Webber

Monaco, dvostruka pobjeda Red Bulla, 4 sigurnosna automobila... Da, bila je odlična utrka na uskim ulicama i to bez pomoći kiše:
Na startu je Webber zadržao svoju vodeću poziciju, ali Vettel je uspješno prešao Kubicu u Renaultu jer je on startao s šporke strane. Svoje pozicije su zadržali Hamilton na 5.i Massa na 4. mjestu. Poredak prvih pet se nije promjenio sve do kraja utrke.
Dok je jedan McLaren bio među vodećima, drugi McLaren Jasona Buttona se zaustavio samo nakon nekoliko krugova jer se pregrijao motor i utrka je bila gotova za njega.
Vettel iz nepoznatoga razloga nije mogao pratitit tempo momčadskog kolege Marka Webbera, koji je svaki put nakon sigurnosnog automobila uspio izgraditi prednost i do 10 sekundi. Vettel je imao dosta tešku utrku jer je bio stalno i pod pritiskom Kubice koji je odvezao još jednu sjajnu utrku za Renault.
Prvi SC (Safety Car) je izašao odmah na početku utrke kad se Nico Hulkenberg u Williamsu razbio na izlazu iz tunela, što je iskoristio Alonso koji je startao zadnji te odmah otišao u obavezni ulazak u boks po tvrđe gume te drastično napredovao u utrci.
Nije bilo puna pretjecanja, uglavno su pretjecale jake momčadi novije vozače, pa to nije i bila neka borba, zato su se bitke za pozicije prebacila u bokseve. Najzanimljivija je bila Schumacher i Rosberg, u kojoj je ovaj put pobjedio sedmerostruki prvak.
Drugi SC je aktivirao drugi Williams, Barrichello jer se razbio u zavoju Massenet, no kontroverze je izazvala reakcija Rubinha kada je bacio volan na stazu jer je bio ljut te je volan pokupio bolid koji je naišao.
Treći SC je izašao 12 krugova poslije, zbog sumnje u odlomljene drenažne elemente na samoj stazi.
Nakon što su svi obavili odlazak u boks utrka je bila mirna, bez zbivanja (procesijska).
No Monte Carlo nam je dao jedan jako dobar kraj utrke: Nekoliko krugova prije kraja razbili su se Chandok u HRT-u i Trulli u Lotusu, doslovice jedan bolid preko drugog. i tada je izašao 4. SC.
SC se maknuo upravo u zadnjem krugu i tada je Schumacher to iskoristio te prošao Alonsa u zadnjem sprintu., suci istražuju taj događaj.
Žalosno je da niti jedna nova miomčad nije završila utrku.
Update:
Mercedes je vjerovao da se SC povukao u zadnjem krugu te su rekli Schumacheru da može pretjeći Alonsa, no na kraju ispada da se SC nije povukao u zadnjem krugu, nego po nekom članku on skreće u boks, a bolidi bi trebali bez pretjecanja i normalno završiti utrku. Schumacher je kažnjen s 20 sekundi, te je završio 12. Zadnji bod je osvojio Sebastien Buemi u Torro Rossu.

SV: “I’m happy. I think we achieved our optimum from third on the grid - normally it’s hard to pass anyone, so second is good. I had good acceleration at the start and was able to dive down the inside and get into the first corner ahead of Robert. That was crucial to finishing second. I couldn’t keep up with Mark today and we need to see why that was. It was difficult, especially at the beginning and after all the restarts. Later on I finally felt I had more grip and wasn’t too far off Mark’s pace, but by then he was already down the road. There was no point trying to catch him, as overtaking is so difficult here. I also had to look more in my mirrors today. Robert was pushing quite hard and it was quite difficult to get away from him at the restarts. I was going sideways rather than straight at times. But, I’m happy. I think we couldn’t have done better today - and we take away good points, which counts for a lot.”

Christian Horner: “A tremendous result for the team today - I think Mark Webber’s had the week of his life. To win two Grands Prixs in a row including the Monaco Grand Prix, which is probably the most prestigious on the calendar, is a very proud day for the whole of Red Bull Racing. And we didn’t only win Monaco, but finished first and second so it’s a great day for the team. It puts us first and second in the drivers’ championship and first in the constructors’ championship. It’s a great result and testimony to all the work that goes on behind the scenes, which goes to make results like today’s possible. Congratulations also to Renault on their one-two-three finish.”

Q: Sebastian, second place today but you didn’t seem able to take the fight to Mark. What happened?
Sebastian Vettel: Well, we need to see. Especially in the beginning and the restarts I wasn't able to keep up with him, there was a big difference. Later on when I finally felt the grip I wasn’t too far off but by then he was already 10 seconds down the road and winning the race by five, six, seven seconds, so there was no real point to make the effort trying to catch him. Obviously overtaking is too difficult and I had to look more in the mirrors. Robert was pushing quite hard and it was quite difficult to get away from him at the restarts. I was going more sideways than straight or forward, so it was quite difficult. But in the end I think it was our optimum today. I am very, very happy. I think we couldn’t have done better. A lot of good points and those count at the end of the year by quite a bit. It is a long season but I am very happy today.

Q: Sebastian, tell us about your move on Robert at the start?
SV: Well, initially I had quite a bad feeling for the pull away. The revs dropped quite a lot. Still I felt that my start was better than Mark’s who was ahead and also then I saw Robert. He mentioned his car had a lot of wheelspin and I could see that, so I was driving down the inside. The sprint down to turn one is not that long, so I was able to get side-by-side, even a bit ahead, so I could take it a bit easier into turn one, not to do something stupid and maybe run into the back of Mark. It was quite important and it was the key to finish second today.

Q: Sebastian, you seemed to be coming back a bit at the end; did you feel you had some tyres left?
SV: Yeah, it was absolutely no problem with the prime tyres. I think they were bomb-proof. I don’t know when we stopped in the beginning because stops were obviously delayed because of the safety car, but to do around fifty or sixty laps on the primes was absolutely no problem today. It was getting better and better. For sure, tyres start to wear and you start to slide a bit more but I think it was fine. For me, the main difficulty today was to switch the tyres on after the stop. I was quite a lot clear of Robert when I came out of the pits and then obviously within a couple of corners he was right there again, so it was quite difficult. I was sliding a lot. Also the restarts - maybe not the first initial lap, but then after the first five timed laps, I was struggling to keep up the pace. Obviously that was when Mark disappeared and when Robert was pushing from behind. So we need to see. Then afterwards we really got a lot of laps in and I was able to find the rhythm more and more and then I think also in terms of lap times it stabilised and then we were more or less competitive. All in all, I think it was very good day for us. I’m very happy, we achieved the optimum so, yeah, I can sleep well tonight.

Q: How close did Robert get to you?
SV: Obviously, in Monaco it’s difficult to pass, and I knew that if I didn’t do anything stupid and always got good exits and take care of my tyres, there would be no way for him to pass. So I focused on that, it worked. Sometimes he was close and sometimes he was a bit behind, but I think he was always between half a second, a second and two seconds, so not far off, but enough.

Q: It was still fairly close.
SV: It was still close. It’s not nice, obviously it would have nicer to have a bit of a gap. In the end what matters is the track position.


Q: (Flavio Vanetti - Corriere della Sera) Sebastian, which aspect do you have to improve to try to catch Mark again?
SV: Well, every weekend is a new challenge. I think this weekend we did our optimum, it wasn’t enough to win, Mark was a little bit better. Maybe next time it might look different.

Q: (Joris Fioriti - AFP) Sebastian, is there a certain amount of frustration not being able to get the rhythm of your team-mate?
SV: I think, in all respects, it could have been much worse. I think I’m happy with today’s second, as I say. Obviously, yes, I would love to win but today it didn’t work, so we try next time, but for now I’m very pleased. As far as I know, maybe you know differently, as far as I know you still get some points for second, so it’s not a complete disaster.

Nakon dva tjedna dolazi nam ne toliko zanimljiva Turska, ali nakon ovoliko uzbuđenja mislim da bi mi dobro došla jedna dosadna procesijska utrka na kojoj bi naravno pobjedio Vettel.

Monaco GP 2010: Qualifying; Webber najbrži, Vettel treći

Još jedne sjajne kvalifikacije za Red Bull,, nisu bile nešto posebno zanimljive, ali su nam dali zanimljiv startni poredak sa Webberom na pole positionu te s Kubicom i Vettelom iza sebe. Seb će se sigurno htjeti iskazati na ovoj utrci jer ga Australac "šamara" na kvalifikacijama, ali i na utrkama pa bi bilo dobro da se probudi. Kubica je odvozio još jedne sjajne kvalifikacije te je bio jedan od glavnih favorita za pole.
Jedini Ferrari na kvalifikacijama je bio Felipe Massa na četvrtome mjestu jer je Alonso razbio bolid na 3. slobodnom treningu. Massi hitno treba jedna dobra utrka jer ga mnogi već zamjenjuju s Kubicom.
Izgleda da ovogodišnjem McLarenu ne odgovara ulična staza u Monaku jer se Button na 8. i Hamilton na 5. mjestu uopće nisu iskazali.
Između njih su se ugurala dva Mercedesa i opet je Rosberg bio brži od Schumachera koji se jako sporo oporavlja.
U Q3 su se još probili Barrichello u Williamsu na 9. poziciji. te sjajni Luizzi u Force Indiji. Ne znam zašto ali Force Indija me skroz podsjeća na Red Bull: kad su došli svi su im se smijali, a sada su na vrhu, gdje uskoro očekujem Force Indiju.
Drugi Renaultov vozač Vitalij Petrov kreće sa 14. startne pozicije, ispred Sauberovih vozača i Jaimea Alguersuarija, koji je danas bio brži od svog momčadskog kolege Buemija za čak sedam desetinki. Španjolcu je ovo prvi nastup u Monte Carlu u karijeri.
Samo da napomenem da "bolje" momčadi nisu imale problema s prometom na stazi te su svi uspjeli odvoziti svoje brze krugove.

SV: “Even though there were only ten cars on track I got a little bit of traffic, which was quite a surprise. It wasn’t ideal to use the tyres properly, they came in nicely but when there was the peak I couldn’t use it. I got space in the end, but obviously the lap time wasn’t enough. All in all, it’s a good result for the team, congratulations to them and also to Renault; it’s great for them to have the top three cars on the grid. I’m looking forward to tomorrow, it’s a long race and a lot of things can happen.”

Q: Sebastian, you weren’t in it until right at the very end. Where did you find the time in the end?
Sebastian Vettel: Well, it was quite a surprise even though you have only got 10 cars. I got a little bit of traffic, so it wasn’t ideal to sue the tyres properly. They came in nicely but I think when there was the peak I couldn’t use it. Then I did it at the very end. It wasn’t enough but all in all still a good result as Mark said, so compliments to the team. Also to the Renault. I think there has been some criticism on the power side. We know it is probably not the strongest engine but we know around here it counts a lot to have drivability and if you have the first three cars in qualifying with the Renault engine I think that’s a positive note, so looking forward to tomorrow. It is along race here, a lot of things can happen. Obviously it is good to be in the front, so let’s see.

Q: Traffic wasn’t too bad out there, then, Sebastian?
SV: No, it wasn’t too bad, but obviously it depends where you are. If you are in a group of people then obviously you get stuck. It always depends on what the guys ahead are doing and if they are on a clean lap or not, if they’ve got traffic themselves. It’s always been bad here, we know that, especially the last sector.

Q: You said the car was OK on Thursday; it didn’t sound as if you were ecstatic about it. Did you make many changes?
SV: Yeah, we did actually. I think we made a good step forward but perhaps the way the circuit ramped up in qualifying, I think we still made a good step forward but it might be better in the race than in qualifying. We are now third. If they don’t crash in the first corner there won’t be a lot of clean air tomorrow but you never know here. It’s a long, long race, a lot of things can happen, especially with the backmarkers, so let’s see.

Q: And you had a moment on what I guess was your penultimate lap.
SV: Yeah, the second last lap, I lost the rear at the chicane. I was probably a bit too late and had to abort the chicane or cut the chicane. Yeah. It happens.

Q: (Joris Fioriti - AFP) Sebastian, are you starting to fear your team-mate more by the race?
SV: Yeah, I’m not afraid of him. As far as I remember, he fell off a bike a couple of years ago or last year, so his leg is still a bit unstable, so I can always run away, plus I’m younger, so there are good chances for me.

Q: (Livio Oricchio - O Estado de Sao Paulo) Mark and Sebastian; you have been fastest in most circuits up to now and ones with very different characteristics: Bahrain, Malaysia, Monaco. What’s your comment about that?
SV: I think we have a very good car. We have very good people on board and they’re working together, as a group, as a team and not against each other. As Mark said, I think that’s a good foundation but if you think you are unbeatable then you are a fool. It’s always tough. So far, looking back is always easy but looking in the future is always a question mark. So we need to wait and see and keep pushing. You can’t let go.

Monako katkad zna dati jako zanimljivu utrku (pomoću kiše), ali uglavnom nije puna zanimljivosti. No dovoljno je reći Monte Carlo i svi pomislimo na luksuz, poznate, jahte i GP vikend koji je pun zbivanja i uvijek zauzima posebno mjesto u našim srcima, barem meni. I da ne zaboravim na izletanja neiskusnih vozača koja znaju biti zabavna.

Monaco GP 2010: Free Practice 3

Nakon impresivnih vremena na slobodnim treninzima u četvrtak, Robert Kubica je na posljednjim treninzima uoči današnjih kvalifikacija za V.N. Monaka postavio najbolje vrijeme i potvrdio Renaultovu brzinu na uskim ulicama Monte Carla.
Felipe Massa postavio je drugo najbolje vrijeme, 0.046 sekundi sporije u odnosu na Poljaka, dok je treći najbrži bio Mark Webber, s 0.139 sekundi zaostatka.
Lewis Hamilton postavio je četvrto najbolje vrijeme i plasirao se ispred njemačkog trojca - Sebastiana Vettela, Michaela Schumachera i Nice Rosberga. Sebastien Buemi, Adrian Sutil i Jenson Button zaključili su poredak vodeće desetorice.
Jednosatne treninge obilježio je broj manjih incidenata, poput lakših proklizavanja pri kočenju u skromne zone izlijetanja, zaustavljanja Time Glocka u šikani zbog mehaničkog problema i Sutilovog lakšeg sudara s ogradom kod Casina, te nešto ozbiljnijeg izlijetanja Fernanda Alonsa u Massenet zavoju, u kojemu je Španjolac otkinuo oba kotača s desne strane, te svojim mehaničarima ostavio pune ruke posla i svega nekoliko sati do početka kvalifikacija koje će najvjerovatnije propustiti.

Sebastian Vettel Q&A: Driving at Monaco out of this world

Q: Sebastian, are you a fan of Monaco?
Sebastian Vettel: When you're not racing on a wet track! Ah, that was only a joke. Monaco is very special. Everybody, including the drivers, is a bit more excited than at any other race. And the driving here is almost from another planet. It really is fun. The fans in front of the TV probably don’t see that the track goes up and down too. It’s like a rollercoaster.

Q: Would a win here be special for you?
SV: Yes. Definitely!

Q: Can you explain why?
SV: It is that extra challenge on the track and the huge tradition and history that makes a win here so special. It’s been 60 years now and the race has lost nothing of its distinctiveness.

Q: Ste Devote seems to be a crucial point of the track for you. What do you have to do differently this weekend?
SV: You mean because my race ended prematurely at that point last year? First of all the strategy has to be better than last year as we were been railroaded almost after a few laps. I think the secret to this race lies in qualifying. The best case scenario is to be on pole position or at least on the front row because overtaking is a rather impractical thing here. Don’t forget too that it is a long race - 78 laps in total. For the car and the engine it is probably a piece of cake, but for the drivers to keep a high concentration level it is quite difficult, because of the layout rather than the speed.

Q: Is the Red Bull unbeatable here?
SV: No car is unbeatable, at any time. The car is strong for sure, but we really have to focus on the right set-up for qualifying and deliver a good race on Sunday.

Q: Is the right strategy here more important than at any other track?
SV: Well, at least this year it is rather simple. Everybody starts with the same weight and then you look to find the right slot for your pit stop. It is more about reacting to things rather than trying to find the ultimate and perfect time for the stop. So strategy is a rather negligible thing here. If your reaction is right! What is a bit tricky is to find the right timing. The track is rather short, but the number of cars is the same, so you have to find your own perfect slot.

Q: Does the driver play a bigger role here in Monaco than at other race tracks?
SV: Could be. Even though I think it is wrong to believe that here in Monaco the driver is the only thing that makes a difference. Without a good car you are nowhere - even here. It’s the whole package that makes or breaks it.

Q: So far the Red Bull has been the car to beat this year, but technical issues have prevented you from exploiting it to great effect on several occasions. Are you worried?
SV: We are not the type to panic at the first little breeze. We know where we are, and just because three out of five races have been rather unsatisfying for me, doesn’t change our confidence.

Q: Where do you think you’ll end up on the grid on Saturday? And what will be the biggest stumbling block?
SV: Q1 will be crucial. You’ll have so many cars on very different speeds on a relatively short track. That will make it quite difficult to find the right time for your fastest lap.

Q: Is there anything these backmarkers can do to make it easier for you fast guys?
SV: There is nothing really that they can do as they are pushing as fast as they can, and it’s not their fault if their cars are not faster. It is something that we have to deal with. For sure nobody is willingly holding somebody up. But you can get held up - especially here.

Q: What part of the track do you like best?
SV: The Tabac corner and the Swimming Pool area because they are very fast and the walls are very close. It feels great!

Q: At every race this year so far we have seen a Red Bull on pole position. Will that also be the case on Saturday?
SV: Well as I just said before, it will be crucial to get through Q1 - and then we’ll see. It’s no secret that the grid position here in Monaco is key! From what I’ve experienced today we are very competitive, so things should work out for us. We have tomorrow to contemplate qualifying - to really let this track sink in - and then close in on pole on Saturday.

Q: Your record here could be better. Is that fair to say?
SV: My record here is rubbish, when you take 2009 into account. In 2008 I think I finished fifth when it was raining, so that was not too bad. So you have one nil and one okay race. For sure my record for Monaco should be better on Sunday! I intend to finish on the podium

Q: So far you and Mark Webber have claimed one win each. What’s your impression of the battle between you and him?
SV: It is good to have a team mate like Mark, who is pushing. We always do our best and always try to beat the other guy. There is not much else to say.

60. years ago...first F1 race

Subota, 13. svibnja 1950. povijesni je nadnevak u svijetu automobilističkih utrka. Toga je dana na bivšem uzletištu Kraljevskih zračnih snaga Silverstoneu, četrdesetak milja sjeverno od Londona i prerađenom za tu prigodu u trkaću stazu, održana prva od sedam utrka svjetskoga prvenstva vozača Formule 1 (Velika Britanija, Monako, Indianapolis, Švicarska, Belgija, Francuska i Italija). Na automobilističkoj pozornici podignut je zastor skromne priredbe koja će s vremenom prerasti u veliki spektakl i opravdano steći epitet cirkusa u kojem se okreću milijarde dolara i eura. Vjerojatno nitko tada nije nije razmišljao o tako velikom rastu i komercijalnom uspjehu onoga što je prvi put u povijesti organizirao Kraljevski automobilistički klub (RAC = The Royal Automobile Club) i što je tom prigodom nazvano Velikom nagradom Europe, premda je kasnije prešlo granice staroga kontinenta. Jedno svjetsko prvenstvo u brzinskom automobilizmu održano je doduše još 1925. u Monzi, a sastojalo se od samo te jedne utrke, no svjetskim prvakom nije proglašen vozač (Gastone Brilli-Peri), već automobil (Alfa Romeo). Poslije 25 godina ideja je ponovno oživjela ciklusom utrka u kojima je prvakom proglašen čovjek, a ne stroj. Kada je te svibanjske subote markiz Antonio Brivio, predsjednik CSAI-a i bivši vrhunski vozač spustio startnu zastavicu okrenuta je nova stranica u automobilizmu i to ne samo simbolično. Na startnoj se rešetki zatekao 21 natjecatelj iz Argentine, Italije, Francuske, Monaka, Švicarske, Tajlanda, Belgije, Irske i Velike Britanije. Bili su odjeveni u široke plave tute, poput mehaničarskih, a glava im je bila prekrivena platnenom ili kožnatom kacigom. Jedino je Piero Taruffi imao kacigu od tvrđeg materijala, donekle otpornog na udarce. Glave su im stršile izvan školjke i gledatelji su mogli vidjeti svaki njihov pokret. Napore organizatora nije ugrozio ni brzojav koji je stigao iz Maranella 96 sati uoči početka utrke. U njemu je priopćeno Ferrarijevo odustajanje od utrke, a razlog tome bila je Ferrarijeva nepripremljenost da se suprotstavi tada najmoćnijoj svjetskoj momčadi. U istom je brzojavu potvrđen nastup četiriju Ferrarijevih automobila u idućim utrkama svjetskoga prvenstva. Ferrarijev vozač, 32-godišnji Alberto Ascari, držan je tada najboljim svjetskim vozačem i da je svjetsko prvenstvo postojalo 1949., kao primjerice u motociklizmu, naslov bi sigurno pripao njemu. U momčadi je uz sebe imao 41-godišnjeg Luigija Villoresija, prvaka još krajem tridesetih. Do tada su utrke bile uglavnom pozivnog karaktera i njihovo je održavanje ovisilo o volji i mogućnostima organizatora, no pravo prvenstvo nije postojalo. U tom je stilu započela i nova sezona utrka. Prva je postaja bila Pau, potom San Remo, Mille Miglia i Modena. Zanimanje za utrke raslo je u poraću s povećanjem gospodarske moći. Brojnost utrka uvjerilo je međunarodna sportska tijela u potrebu usmjeravanja najpoznatijih utrka u jedinstven međunarodni kalendar. Najpoznatije Velike nagrade s dugotrajnom tradicijom još s početka stoljeća, postale su utrke novoga svjetskog prvenstva rezerviranog za vozače. U tom je kalendaru sve do 1960. bila uključena i utrka 500 milja Indianapolisa, s nadom da se uspostave tehničke veze s automobilističkim svijetom s druge strane oceana. No tamošnje su se utrke desetljećima održavale prema vlastitim normama i pravilima. Bila je to uzaludna nada, jer su u Indianapolisu nastupali gotovo isključivo američki vozači. Prvo svjetsko prvenstvo održano je prema tehničkim pravilima iz 1947. koja su predviđala automobile obujma 1500 cm3 s kompresorom ili 4500 cm3 bez kompresora, a nisu postojala ograničenja glede težine ili goriva.
Velika nagrada Europe vozila se prvi put u Velikoj Britaniji i prvi joj je put prisustvovao britanski suveren. Osim kralja Georgea VI., kraljice Elizabete, visokih vladinih dužnosnika i diplomatskog kora, utrku je promatralo i 150.000 gledatelja. Tvorničku momčad Alfa Romea činili su 44-godišnji Nino Farina, vozač neosporivih kvaliteta koji je u mnogim prigodama znao ugroziti i slavnog Tazija Nuvolarija. Drugi Alfin vozač bio je 52-godišnji Luigi Faigoli, uz Nuvolarija i Varzija jedan od najboljih talijanskih vozača iz tridesetih. Jedini stranac u momčadi bio je 39-godišnji Juan Manuel Fangio, a za tu prigodu i Englez Reginald Parnell. Sjedili su u crvenim Alfettama 158 iz 1938. Ovi su automobili izrađeni u Ferrarijevim pogonima u Modeni prema projektu Gioachina Colomba i Alberta Massimina. Kasnijim preinakama 1,5-litarskom 8-cilindričnom motoru s kompresorom snaga je 1940. povećana od 195 KS pri 7200 okretaja u minuti na 225 KS pri 7500. Kasnije je snaga dodatno povećana na 275 KS, a 1950. na 350 KS pri 8500 okretaja. Osim spomenutih favorita na startnoj su rešetki bili zastupljeni modri i glomazni Talboti T26C, šest privatnih Maseratija 4CLT te britanske marke ERA i Alta s mnogo manjim automobilima koji nisu imali gotovo nikakve šanse da se bore za pobjedu. Većina je vozača za današnje pojmove bila u poznim godinama: Chiron (50), Étançelin (54), Sommer (44), Bonetto (47), Sanesi (39), Taruffi (44). Među njima bilo je i onih plave krvi koji su oduvijek punili startne rešetke, poput švicarskog baruna Emanuela de Graffenrieda i tajlandskog princa Birabongse Bhanubana, zvanog jednostavno princ Bira. Nedostajalo je prestižno ime Tazija Nuvolarija kojega su Englezi oduvijek zvali majstorom. Imao je 58 godina i još uvijek se nije ćutio svršenim vozačem. Velike je nade polagao u Cisitaliju Grand Prix koja se, međutim, nikada nije pojavila na stazi.
Engleski kralj rukuje se s vozačima Velike nagrade Europe
Istog je dana ujutro održana utrka Formule Junior u kojoj je pozornost privukao mladi Stirling Moss, ali je pobjeda pripala Franku Aikensu, pukovniku Kraljevskih zračnih snaga. U stanki između dviju utrka gledatelji su mogli razgledati izložene BRM-ove jednosjede koji su u mnogih probudili nadu da će se i britanska automobilistička industrija u budućnosti moći ravnopravno nositi s talijanskim trkaćim automobilima. Britanski tisak detaljno je pisao o utrci, a u prvom su planu bili princeza Margareta te grof Mountbatten i njegova supruga koji su dočekani pljeskom gledatelja. Vozači su najprije napravili krug zagrijavanja, vrativši se svojim mjestima na startnoj rešetki. Najbrži na treningu bio je Farina (1'50''8), a u prvome redu do njega bili su momčadski kolege Fagioli, Fangio i Parnell. Najbolje plasirani vozač u drugome redu bio je princ Bira. Sirena je označila minutu do početka utrke i 21 vozač pokrenuo je motor svojeg automobila. Jedino su četiri Alfina vozača prema nalogu voditelja momčadi Giovannija Battiste Guidottija (bivšeg Nuvolarijevog suvozača) učinila to u trenutku kada je nedostajalo pola minute do početka utrke.
Bira se na početku uspio probiti između crvenih automobila iz prvoga reda, ali je već u zavoju Copse Farina preuzeo vodstvo. Već u drugome krugu postavio je rekord kruga 1'50''6, vozeći prosječno 151,311 km/h. Ostatak utrke bio je trijumf talijanske mehanike i jedini koji su im se pokušali suprotstaviti tek nekoliko krugova bili su princ Bira i De Graffenried. Jedino je donekle razočarao Fangio koji je zbog oštećenog ventila morao odustati osam krugova prije kraja.
Jean-Paul Delsaux, jedan od kroničara utrke ovako je opisao ono što se događalo u Silverstoneu: „Alfe su diktirale zakon. Uske zavoje prolazile su veličanstveno, bez problema i ponovno su naglo ubrzavale na ravnim dijelovima. Na stazi na kojoj se uglavnom koriste samo veći stupnjevi prijenosa, osim na startu, Alfa se zabavljala. Fangio se prvi zaustavio u boksu radi punjenja goriva, a poslije njega Farina, dok su Fagioli i Parnell to učinili gotovo istodobno. Milanski mehaničari prosječno su potrošili 25 sekunda, čineći to velikom brzinom i preciznošću, pokazavši se u tome nedostižnima...“. Prema Delsauxovim tvrdnjama razlog Fangiovom odustajanju bila je oštećena cijev dovoda goriva. Farina je pobijedio vozeći prosječno 146,370 km/h u vremenu od 2.13'26''3, a na ciljnoj je crti bio bolji za 2,4 sekunde od Fagiolija i 52 od Parnella. Četvrtoplasirani Giraud-Cabantous u Talbotu zaostao je za dva kruga. Nakon završene utrke britanski kralj George VI. čestitao je momčadskome vođi Guidottiju koji je o tome kasnije pripovijedao novinaru talijanske Gazzette dello sport: „Bio je to trijumf Italije. Čitavo postolje bilo je Alfino: prvi Farina, drugi Fagioli, treći Parnell. A Englezi su mislili da će nas pobijediti... Sjećam se nelagode lorda Howea koji je htio odsvirati naš kraljevski marš. „Vidite“, rekao sam mu, „talijanska himna je drukčija“. Ravnatelj orkestra pritrčao je iznenađen i pokazao mi je partiture koje su mu stajale na raspolaganju: „Imam samo ove, odaberite vi“. Bile su to operne arije, sjećam se marša iz Aide, ali sam mu rekao: „Svirajte ovo, bit će dobro“. I na stazi u Silverstoneu, umjesto talijanske himne, zasviran je O sole mio“.

Monaco GP 2010: Free Practice 2

Fernando Alonso je postavio najbrže vrijeme i na drugom slobodnom treningu u Monte Carlu.
Ferrarijev vozač je bio za desetinku brži od Nice Rosberga u Mercedesu, dok je treće najbrže vrijeme imao Sebastian Vettel u Red Bullu.
Alonso je na čelno mjesto poretka izbio u 37. minuti sesije, postavivši vrijeme od 1:15.435 na mekšim gumama. Već u sljedećem krugu je svoju prednost povećao na pola sekunde.
Na prvoj poziciji je ostao sve do kraja slobodnog treninga, jer je lagana kiša spriječila druge vozače u pokušajima da voze brže krugove.
Premda je padala, kiša ipak nije bila toliko jaka da neki od vozača na stazu iziđe na intermedijima. Zato su svi koji su tada vozili ostali na slickovima, učeći što mogu napraviti u takvim, skliskim uvjetima kakvi bi mogli vladati i u nastavku vikenda. Lagani dodiri ograde i izlasci sa staze u Ste. Devoteu su tako bili redovna pojava na drugom treningu, no nije bilo niti jednog ozbiljnijeg kontakta s ogradom ili incidenta.
Nakon što je većinu prvog treninga proveo u boksu, Rosberg je u posljepodnevnim satima kompletirao ukupno 38 krugova te je bio brži od svog momčadskog kolege Schumachera, koji je imao peto najbrže vrijeme.
Robert Kubica je u nekim trenucima vozio spektakularno i na kraju je odvozio šesti najbrži krug. Tijekom prvog sata sesije, Poljak je bio jedan od vozača koji su imali i najbrže vrijeme.
Blijed nastup su imali McLarenovi vozači Lewis Hamilton i Jenson Button, koji su bili sedmi odnosno deveti najbrži. Između njih se ubacio Adrian Sutil u Force Indiji, dok krug prve desetorice zatvara Red Bullov vozač Mark Webber.
Razlika između Alonsa i Vitalija Petrova na 11. mjestu iznosi svega osam desetinki.

SV: “We did a lot of laps today, which is good as that’s important in Monaco. The car feels alright, but if you look at the times it’s difficult to judge where we are. One thing that’s clear it will be very, very tight over the weekend. The top four teams are split by a couple of tenths and fuel loads are not as important here, so it’s close. It looks challenging. Qualifying has been good for us at the last races and I hope it continues on Saturday.”

Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel i Robert Kubica izborili su se za vodeće tri pozicije na prvim slobodnim treninzima u Monte Carlu koje se voze četvrtkom (posebnost Monaka). Trojac je završio unutar vremenskog razmaka od svega 0.089 sekundi.
Četvrto najbolje vrijeme, ispred Felipea Masse i Michaela Schumachera, postavio je Mark Webber. McLarenov dvojac, Lewis Hamilton i Jenson Button, plasirao se na sedmo i osmo mjesto ispred Adriana Sutila i Sebastiena Buemija.
Bilo je izletanja i manjih grešaka novih vozača, dok su Chandok i Kobayashi izletili sa staze i BMW Sauber Kobayashia je bio dosta oštećen.

Vettel: Uvjeren sam da se problemi s kočnicama neće ponoviti

Sebastian Vettel je uvjeren da se problemi s kočnicama koje je imao na VN Španjolske neće ponoviti u budućnosti.
Premda Red Bull Racing još uvijek nije potvrdio što se točno dogodilo s Vettelovim kočnicama, on je rekao da je momčad već poduzela preventivne mjere kako bi se problem izbjegao u budućnosti.
"Mislim da smo shvatili što se dogodilo," izjavio je Vettel u Monaku. "100% smo sigurni i imamo soluciju, tako da očekujemo da ćemo imati još sličnih situacija. Vidjet ćemo kada dođemo na stazu."
"Ove godine smo imali nekoliko problema s pouzdanošću, i svi su različiti i dva se nikad nisu dogodila iz istog razloga. Uvijek smo reagirali vrlo brzo i sad sam uvjeren da se ovo više neće ponoviti. Vjerujem u to jer smo još jednom pronašli soluciju."
Unatoč frustrirajućem početku sezone, u kojem su mu pobjede u Bahreinu i Australiji procurile kroz prste, Vettel u ukupnom poretku zaostaje samo 10 bodova za vodećim Jensonom Buttonom.
"Ne možemo promijeniti utrke koje smo imali. Prošlog tjedna smo ponovno imali isti cilj i ključ je bio u osvajanju maksimalnog broja bodova, ali ni treće mjesto nije katastrofa. Moglo je biti puno gore."
"Sve je još dobro, stvari nisu kao prošle godine kada smo imali očajan početak sezone. Ne zaostajemo za suparnicima. Deset bodova je puno, ali sada imamo novi sistem bodovanja tako da to i nije baš puno."
"Sve to pokazuje koliko je važno završavati utrke, ako pogledate evoluciju prvenstva i bodova. Jenson ima dvije pobjede, a na ostalim je utrkama bio peti, šesti ili tako nešto. Njegov primjer pokazuje koliko je važno završavati sve utrke."
Vettel je rekao i da uživa u partnerstvu s Markom Webberom.
"Drago mi je što sam u istoj momčadi kao i Mark. Obojica pritišćemo jedan drugoga i u tome je ključ. Niti jedan zato nema priliku zaspati. Volimo ono što radimo, uživamo u tome. Oduvijek sam govorio da ćemo pokušati pobijediti, a to smo dokazali ove godine."
"Ne znam kako to kažete na engleskom, ali on obično nema problema s korištenjem jačih riječi, uvijek je vrlo izravan."
"Ponekad je takav, ali kada je u pitanju utrkivanje, obojica imamo svoje ciljeve i znamo što želimo."

Monaco GP 2010: Tuesday at Monte Carlo: Football match

Nekoliko dana prije početka Monaco GP vikenda, vozači F1 su kao i občno sudjelovali u dobrotvornoj nogometnoj utakmici koju promovira Princ Albert na Louis II stadium.
Sebastian Vettel, Fernando Alonso, Felipe Massa, Jarno Trulli, Nico Rosberg, Lucas di Grassi, Jaime Alguersuari i Vitaly Petrov su bili u Nationale Piloti timu koji su igrali protiv Friends of the Prince tima.
Sav novac prikupljen od utakmice ide u organizaciju World Association of Children's Friends, koja je osnovana u Monaku, a pomaže djeci cijeloga svijeta.
Svo vozači su se zabavljali, igrali opušteno (osim Alonsa koji je veliki fan nogometa) i uživali. Utakmica je završila 4-2 za vozače F1, naravno.

Povijest:
Velika Nagrada Monaca zbližuje najbogatije ljude na svijetu. Sama staza je smještena na luksuznim ulicama Monte Carla i na njoj se vozi jedna od tradicionalnih utrka. Sam krug staze po ulicama Monte Carla kreće sa Ste devote zatim se kreće uzbrdo do Casino trga da bi se odmah potom spustila do Mirabeaua prije oštrog Loewsovog zavoja. Tunel koji vodi prema marini u Monte Carlu i šikani smještenoj tamo jednostavno odzvanja od zvuka koji stvaraju moćni V10 motori. Ovo je staza na kojoj su prestizanja gotovo neizvediva.
Prva utrka vožena na toj stazi bila je 1929. godine, a do 1950.-te bila je druga utrka na kalendaru. Bila je to godina kada je legendarni Fangio odnio pobjedu nakon velikog spektakularnog sudara koji se dogodio u prvom krugu utrke a u kojem je učestvovalo deset bolida. Jednostavno ova staza ima toliko bogatu povijest da ona jednostavno ne može biti izrečena u nekoliko rečenica. I upravo zbog toga staza zauzima svoje mjesto u srcima mnogih, kako navijača i gledatelja tako i samih vozača. Jer uspjeh na stazi ne ovisi o brzini bolida već o vozačevoj sposobnosti i talentu.
Stirling Moss pobijedio je 1956. godine, dok je godinu dana poslije pobjedu morao prepustiti Fangiou jer je on bio sudionikom sudara u šikani. Moss je u toj vrijeme bio vozač koji je diktirao tempo. Njegova najveća pobjeda na ovoj stazi zasigurno je ona iz 1961. godine kada je majstorski odoljevao napadima dvaju Ferrarija.
Na prvoj utrci poslije Sennine tragične smrti na stazi dominira Michael Schumacher koji izgleda nedodirljiv i godinu dana kasnije, 1995. godine. Već je slijedeće godine svijet Formule 1 bio iznenađen pobjedom Panisa za Ligier. Ali već godinu dana poslije, 1997. godine ponovno smo vidjeli dominantnog Schumachera ali ovaj puta u utrci voženoj po kišovitim vremenskim uvjetima.
1998. godine Mika Hakkinen odnosi pobjedu u McLarenov tabor, međutim Schumacher ponovno brani boje Ferrarija pobjedom 1999.godine. Sezona 2000. je bila uspješna za Davida Coultharda. Bila je to utrka u kojoj je pobjedio ispred Ferrarijevog vozača Rubensa Barrichella i Benettonovog vozača Giancarla Fisichelle.
2001. je David Coulthard veći dio utrke utrke bio "zaglavljen" iza Arrowsa Enriquea Bernoldia. Zbog uskih zavoja na stazi, Coulthard je izgubio mnogo vremena te je na kraju pobjedu utrke ostvario Michael Schumacher.
U 2002. su stvari za Davida krenule na bolje. Na Monte Carlu je ostvario svoju jedinu, ali pošteno zasluženu pobjedu u sezoni.
Monte Carlo je 2003. dobio novog pobjednika. Juan-Pablo Montoya je pobjedio na utrci na klaustrofobičnim ulicama Monaka sa samo 0.6 sekundi prednosti pred Fincem Kimiem Raikkonenom. Treći je završio Michael Schumacher sa punom sekundom zaostatka za Raikkonenom.
Iduće je godine Jarno Trulli na V.N. Monaka ostvario svoju prvu pobjedu u F1 karijeri i tako prekinuo Schumacherov niz od pet uzastopnih pobjeda u sezoni. Talijan je utrku pobjedio sa samo 0.4 sekunde prednosti u odnosu na drugoplasiranog Jensona Buttona. Najniža stepenica postolja je pripala Rubensu Barrichellu koji je barem malo utješio svoju momčad nakon što je njegov momčadski kolega, Michael Schumacher doživio nesreću u tunelu sa Juanom-Pablom Montoyom i to odmah iza sigurnosnog automobila!
2005. pobjednik V.N. Monaka bio je Kimi Raikkonen, kojemu je ovo bila druga utrka zaredom u kojoj je vodio od početka do samoga kraja. Na pobjedničkom postolju su mu se pridružili Williamsovi vozači, Nick Heidfeld i Mark Webber, koji su do postolja stigli u samoj završnici utrke kada su pretekli Fernanda Alonsa čiji se Renault doslovno "vukao" po stazi s posve istrošenim gumama.
Iduće dvije godine pobjednik utrke na ulicama Monte Carla bio je Fernando Alonso. Španjolac je pobjede slavio vozeći za Renault i McLaren-Mercedes.
Na kišnom Monte Carlu 2008. godine, pobjedu je odnio Lewis Hamilton, 3 sekunde ispred BMW Sauberovog vozača Roberta Kubice i 4.8 sekundi ispred trećeplasiranog Felipea Masse. Tom se pobjedom Hamilton probio na prvo mjesto u poretku, 3 boda ispred aktualnog svjetskog prvaka Kimija Raikkonena.
Godinu dana kasnije, u maloj je kneževini Brawn GP slavio svoju treću dvostruku pobjedu sezone. Jenson Button i Rubens Barrichello završili su ispred Kimija Raikkonena.

Red Bull od Turske s F-ductom?

U namjeri da izvuče još više brzine iz svog RB6, Red Bull bi od Turske mogao uvesti F-duct sustav, kakvog koriste suparnici na svojim bolidima.
"Još uvijek nemamo novo stražnje krilo ili F-duct te je stoga neminovno da postoji istraživački projekt o tome koji je u tijeku," objasnio je direktor momčadi Christian Horner. "Istanbul bi mogao biti staza na kojoj ćemo to uvesti."
Horner je rekao i da je impresioniran napretkom kojeg je dizajnerski tim Adriana Neweya s RB6 postigao od početka sezone, a to se posebno odnosi na poboljšanja koja su pripremili za Veliku nagradu Španjolske.
"U Španjolskoj smo imali evoluciju onoga što je predstavljeno u Bahreinu. Adrian i njegovi dečki su doista rezultate iz Bahreina pretvorili u ovo. Postigli su i neka nevjerojatno luda vremena u kojima su ugradili komponenten na bolide, što je dokaz sposobnosti svih naših ljudi u tvornici."
Dodajmo ovome i da momčadi Formule 1 ovog vikenda u Monaku najvjerojatnije neće koristiti F-duct sisteme, zbog zavojite i specifične prirode ulične staze.

Timovi izglasali zabranu F-duct usisnika

Uoči današnje V.N. Španjolske, na kojoj je prednost kontroverznog F-duct usisnika vjerojatno došla do najvećeg izražaja u dosadašnjem tijeku sezone, timovi su izglasali njihovu zabranu od iduće godine.
McLaren je ovaj revolucionarni sustav, kojim na dužim ravnim dijelovima staze može ostvariti i do 10 km/h veću krajnju brzinu, predstavio već na početku sezone, no ostalim timovima nije bilo potrebno dugo vremena da implementira svoju verziju sustava. Uz momčad iz Wokinga, ovaj sustav trenutno koriste BMW Sauber, Ferrari, Williams i Mercedes.
Ipak, zbog zabrinutosti u pogledu rasta troškova i sigurnosti korištenja ovakvog sustava, timovi su se složili oko zabrane F-duct usisnika već od iduće godine, iako je McLaren, inovator ove ideje, pokušao svoje konkurente odgovoriti od toga.

Red Bull upozorio suparnike da im u Monaku neće biti lakše

Red Bull Racing je upozorio svoje suparnike da u Monte Carlu ne bi trebali očekivati lakši GP vikend, premda su njihovi bolidi tradicionalno manje konkurentni na toj stazi.
"To je utrka za koju smo, također, odlučni napraviti dobar posao," izjavio je direktor momčadi Christian Horner. "Riječ je o stazi na kojoj prošle godine nismo bili posebno jaki, ali mislimo da smo od tada značajno unaprijedili bolid i zato vjerujemo da u Monaku možemo biti vrlo jaki."
Njihova prva kaciga, Sebastian Vettel je se za prošlogodišnju VN Monaka kvalificirao na četvrto mjesto, no tijekom utrke je imao problema s prekomjernim trošenjem guma, nakon čega je udario u zid.
Prve ovosezonske utrke, a posebno Velika nagrada Španjolske, su pokazale da je RB6 korak unaprijed u odnosu na prethodni model u brzim zavojima. No, Horner vjeruje da je tim njihovog glavnog dizajnera Adriana Neweya napravio veliki korak naprijed i s performansama u sporim zavojima, što će biti vitalno za Monako.
"Dio posla kojeg su naši dečki napravili u ranom razvoju RB6 tijekom izjednačene prošle sezone je da su zadržali naše performanse u brzim zavojima, ali da su pritom unaprijedili performansu u sporim zavojima," objasnio je. "Puno je faktora u toj kombinaciji i zato je bilo vrlo zadovoljavajuće gledati rezultate iz posljednjeg sektora u Španjolskoj, koji nije bio baš najjači za RB4 i RB5."
Jedan od problema s kojim će se suočiti suparnici austrijske momčadi je i mogućnost RB6 da ekstrahira više brzine i potencijala u jednom letećem krugu, što bi moglo biti krucijalno na kvalifikacijama u Monaku.

Spanish GP 2010: Race; Webber takes victory, Seb dramatically 3rd

Ne mogu vjerovati! Jel moguće da Sebastian i Red Bull imaju jednu sezonu, ma jednu utrku bez drame? Očito da nije, nakon ovakve utrke presretna sam sa trećim mjestom Vettela i svaka čast Webberu na sjajnom vikendu i pobjedi. Webberu je falio najbrži krug kako bi osvojio "hat trick" u Formuli 1.
Start utrke za vozače je prošao bez veće drame, Vettel je pokušao, ali nije uspio prijeći Marka na startu. Prva šestorica su uspjeli zadržati svoje pozicije tijekom starta, ali Španjolska se odlučila malo poigrati sa svima njima i pokušati ne biti toliko dosadna. Na startu su se jako dobro probili Barrichello u Williamsu i Alguersuari u Torro Rossu, a najveći gubitnici su bili Kubica i Kobayashi.
U početku se činilo da će biti procesijka utrka, ali nakon prvog i za mnoge jedinog ulaska u bokseve, koji su bili vrlo rano - oko 15 kruga Hamilton je uspio prijeći Vettela preko bokseva jer se Sebastian nije uspio odvojiti i Hamilton je ušao jedan krug prije njega. Ali kod Hamiltona nikad nije sve čisto, dok se Vettel borio za svoju poziciju, Hamilton ga je samo izgurao sa staze, što mi se čini totalno ne sportski. Tako da je Hamilton bio drugi, a Vettel treći. Alonso je vozio mirno na četvrtoj poziciji. Isto tako Schumacher je kroz bokseve uspio prijeći McLarenovog Jasona Buttona, koji ga je poslije stalno pratio i vršio pritisak, no kasnije je očito odustao, jer mislim da je Schumachera malo teško prijeći na stazi koju vozi po devetnaesti put i koju tako dobro poznaje. Taj dvoboj koji je trajao nekoliko krugova je iskoristio je Felipe Massa da im se približi, no njegove šanse da poboljša svoju pozicju bile su minimalne nakon što je udario u stražnji dio Chandokovog bolida, te mu je prednje krilo bilo uništeno. Nije ga otišao promjenuti jer bi tada izgubio 3 pozicije, a poslije su mu preko radija javila da s oštećeim krilom vozi 0.5 sekunde bolje vrijeme.
Poslije toga opet je bilo, amo reći jedan miran dio utrke gdje su bili zanimljivi dvoboji vozača koju su bili na kraju poretka.
No 15 krugova prije kraja eto ti opet drame - pogađate za koga, zar ne? Red Bull. Ili točnije za Vettela, jer Webber je cijelu utrku odvozio u miru na prvome mjestu imajući prednosti i do 16 sekundi. No Vettelu su kočnice bile istrošene, ili je jednostanije reći da je pa skoro vozio bez kočnica. Zbog toga je izletio nakratko sa staze, no uspio se vratiti i otići u boks po novi set guma. Vratio se na četvrtu poziciju iza Webbera, Hamiltona i Alonsa te je ispred Schumachera imao prednost od 23 sekunde. Njegov tim mu je govorio da se vrati u boks, da mu je oštećenje na kočnicama preveliko, no Sebastian je želio dalje voziti kako bi sakupio nekoliko bodova jer nemaju šta izgubiti (Seb u tom trenutku nije niti bio svjestan da se nalazi na 4. mjestu). I tako je Vettel 10 krugova vozio skoro pa bez kočnica i impresionirao jako puno ljudi.
Drama nije bila samo za Red Bull, nego ovaj put i za McLaren. Lewisu Hamiltonu je dva kruga prije kraja utrke pukla lijeva prednja guma te je izletio i utrka je za njega bila gotova. Mnogi su upozoravali na to da se prednja lijeva guma najviše troši u Barceloni, a poznato je da Hamilton u svome stilu vožnje uvijek blokira prednji lijevi kotač. Žao mi je Hamiltona, nije ovo zaslužio, ali njegovo odustajanje je značilo da Vettel nakon ovako teške utrke će ipak završiti na postolju skupa sa Markom Webberom i Fernandom Alonsom koji se tamo našao ni kriv ni dužan.
Bodove su još osvojili Sutil, Kubica, Barrichello i Alguersuari.
Utrku je izvan bodova završio Nico Rosberg, ali i dvojica Sauberovih vozača, što je za njih posebno razočaravajuće.
Osim nesretnog Hamiltona, utrku nisu završili Heikki Kovalainen, Bruno Senna, Pedro de la Rosa, Karun Chandhok i Sebastien Buemi.

SV: "A lot of things didn't go my way today. The start was okay; there was no chance to get past Mark, but also it wasn't worth taking the risk. It was quite slippery, so I didn't want to take a run down the outside. I was not quick enough today. I struggled a lot with the balance of the car. The car's fast - Mark was in his own league today, but for some reason I found it difficult. There were a few problems. Christian Horner: "It was a fantastic race from Mark and a very commanding performance from him today. He has been sensationally quick all weekend and this was a fitting result. Sebastian had a much more eventful race. We had a right front wheel issue at the first stop that cost him a bit of time and unfortunately allowed Lewis to sneak past. Thereafter he was comfortable, but stuck in dirty air until a brake issue appeared with about fifteen laps to go. We made a pit stop for a precautionary look at the brake disc – we could see it was still there, but it was a bit damaged and then it was a question of managing the pace of the car until the end of the race. Sebastian did a good job of building in a big enough safety margin in the braking areas for it not to be an issue. Ultimately first and third is a great team result – one place off a maximum score. We've enjoyed a good step forward in our performance this weekend, which is credit to the effort put in by the whole team."

Pres konferencija s troje najboljih vozača s VN Španjolske: Mark Webber (Red Bull), Fernando Alonso (Ferrari) i Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull).

Q: Sebastian, is there anything that didn’t happen to you today? Unscheduled pit stop, brake problems and what about that incident with Lewis?
Sebastian Vettel: Well, a lot of things went wrong today. The start was okay. There was no chance to get past Mark. It was not worth taking the risk as it was quite slippery down the inside where he was, so I didn’t want to take a run on the outside. I was not quick enough. I struggled a lot with the balance of the car. We see the car is quick. Mark was in his own league today but for some reason I struggled. Then a lot of problems. I think we came in too early. Probably expected Lewis to come in the same lap and it turned out not to be. The primes, the hard tyres, were a bit difficult to switch on, so we couldn’t do the undercut and get him on the strategy side. Also we were a bit unlucky as we had to wait in the pit box a long time for the Ferrari to drive past and Jenson (Button) was coming in, so it was probably nine seconds. It felt like a nine second pit stop, so we lost a lot of ground and lost the position. It was very close where Lewis came out but there was no way, so to avoid contact I went wide. After that impossible to pass. I felt the car was getting a bit better but as soon as you get closer no chance to pass as you lose the grip. Then 15 laps from the end I lost the front left brakes and the last 10 laps I was lucky as there was so much gap to the back, to Michael. I was able to bring the car home. I don’t know how to feel. Third is not a bad position and I think we had a horrible, quite bad race, with a lot of things happening we didn’t want to. It is good to take some points but we need to work and keep pushing. The car is fast but you have to be able to use that every single time. It is 50-50 per cent chance of getting through. Mark had a race without any problems but for me it was the other way around, so difficult.

Q: What did they do when you came into the pits? Did you have a puncture?
SV: Just changed tyres. They probably had a quick look but there’s nothing that you can fix quickly. And then I went back out, I still had three brakes around the car, I think, so then obviously towards the end it was getting critical because you don’t want to have another failure, so I think we were just lucky to bring the car home, to be honest.

Q: (Michael Schmidt – Auto, Motor und Sport) Sebastian, for most of the race you drove behind somebody else. Is it possible that the Red Bull loses more speed or loses more balance than other cars in traffic?
SV: I haven’t driven another car this year. I don’t know. I think any car loses grip all around, loses downforce when you follow another car, depending on the gap. On top of that, I think this afternoon, as far as I could see outside from the inside of the cockpit, it was very, very windy today with a lot of gusts, especially in turn seven where I think you had a tail wind under braking, it was very difficult to get in, and then sometimes with a gust, it just blew you away. So it was difficult, I think, and obviously when you have another car in front, the closer you get it doesn’t get easier. I don’t think necessarily we are worse than others. I think we’ve had other races this year where I was able to follow and it wasn’t a problem. For sure you lose grip, you damage your tyres, but that’s the usual procedure for everyone.

Q: (Juha Päätalo – Financial Times Deutschland) Sebastian, can you just clarify why you came into the pits in the first place, 15 laps before the end? Were your primes finished or was it a safety option?
SV: I was braking for turn seven – boom! And then I went straight on. Obviously I saw that something flew off the car and I had some brake failures in the past, so it was extremely difficult. Every time I then touched the brakes the car was massively pulling to the right and didn’t stop properly, obviously, so I knew that something was wrong. I thought at that stage that that was it. So what you do, obviously, is that you pit. They changed the tyres, they probably had a quick look, couldn’t see anything and I was sent back out. The lap after I got the call to come in and retire and then I said ‘is there no chance to save some points?’ Obviously at that stage I didn’t know I was fourth but then I was telling the team that I would love to try and keep racing and try to save some points. At that stage I thought maybe two or three points were better than nothing, but it turned out to be a lot more and I even finished on the podium. So like it or not, I think it was a very lucky day.

Q: (Heikki Kulta – Turun Sanomat) Sebastian, five races and three times you’ve had reliability problems. How much more pressure does that give you?
SV: Nothing for me, there’s not much I can do differently. Obviously I knew that I was behind Lewis. To be honest I was seconds faster. It’s very difficult to judge your true pace but he wasn’t slow at the end, as Fernando said. They were also on a similar pace, so I think all us three were within a couple of tenths. So I was looking to finish the race in third and trying to save engines, save tyres and save brakes as well. As I said, it was a surprise and then boom, the failure.

Najbolji trenuci GP vikenda u Barceloni:



Za samo tjedan dana nas čeka spektakularni Monte Carlo. Bile su rasprave da slabije momčadi voze odvojene kvalifikacije da ne bi smetali ovim "većim" momčadima, no nisu se uspjeli dogovoriti pa se kvalifikacije voze kao i uvijek, pa postoji mogućnost da netko od favorita za naslov ispadne odmah u Q1, što nije tako lako nadoknaditi u Monaku...

Spanish GP 2010: Qualifying; Webber pole, Vettel 2nd

Na ovim kvalifikacijama za pole positionu su se borili dva Red Bullova vozača Sebastian Vettel i Mark Webber. Oni su jednostavno postavili standard za kojim drugi timovi kasne otprilike 8 desetinki. No mislim da nema brige da će ovo biti dominatna sezona jer Red Bull jednostavno kao da je uklet i uvijek im se dogodi neka nesreća pa su tu McLaren i Ferrari da pokupe pobjedu.
Ovaj put najbolju startnu poziciju je osvojio Mark Webber, a Sebastian Vettel je bio odmah iza njega. Seb kaže kako je za pole ključni bio treći sektor u kojem gubi puno vremena i koji je Webber ovaj put odvozio bolje. Očito je da je između njih veliki momčadski dvoboj u kojem obojica uživaju i žele pobjediti jedan drugoga.
Lewis Hamilton u McLarenu izborio je treće mjesto i uvijek je tu negdje pri vrhu kao i njegov stariji momčadski kolega Jason Button koji je ovaj put završio na petom mjestu.
Između ta dva McLarena ugurao se Fernando Alonso koji je na svojoj "domaćoj" utrci odvozio dosta solidne kvalifikacije. Španjolsku publiku mora se pohvaliti stvarno dolaze u velikome broju, imaju tri Španjolska vozača iako su skoro cijele tribine obojane u crveno (ima nešto i plavoga što je ostalo od prošle godine). Drugi Ferrarijev vozač Felipe Massa se stvarno nije iskazao i dosta kasni za momčadskim kolegom, jedini sporiji od njega je bio Kobayashi koji se sjano uspio izboriti i ući u Q3.
Izgleda da se Mercedes i Schumacher pomalo oporavljaju dobili su cijeli novi paket i Schumacher je završio na šestome mjestu te bio brži od momčadskog kolege N.Rosberga (prvi put) koji je na osmome mjestu.
Da se Renaultu ne može otpisati i da je uvijek pri vrhu potvrdio je Robert Kubica na sedmome mjestu.
Kobayashiev ulazak u završnu rundu je značilo da među najboljom desetoricom neće biti Sutil, no on može biti zadovoljan na 11. mjestu jer je njegov momčadski kolega Luizzi završio tek na 17. poziciji. Drugi BMW-Sauber del la Rose je na dvanaestom mjestu što znači da se momčad Petera Saubera oporavlja.
U Q2 su još ispali dva Torro Rossa Buemi i Alguersuari, Petrov u Renaultu kojeg su mehaničari uspjeli srediti za kvalifikacije nakon nesreće na 3. slobodnome treningu.i N.Hulkenberg u Williamsu.
U Q1 je uz Lotus, Virgin i HRT još ispao R. Barrichello koji kaže kako se našao u prometu i nije uspio složiti krug. Samo da napomenem da je Lotus bio brži od Virgina.
Karun Chandhok koji je završio na 23. mjestu dobio je kaznu od pet mjesta nižeg starta zbog promjene mjenjača.
Vitaly Petrov je isto tako deplasiran pet mjesta jer je morao promjeniti mjenjač nakon sudara na 1. slobodnome treningu.
Kaznu su još zaradili Virginovi vozači di Grassi i Glock jer FIA nije na vrijeme obaviještena o omjerima stupnjeva prijenosa (!?).
Novčanu kaznu je dobio i Ferrari zbog krivog navođenja Alonsa pa je on izletio ispred Rosberga te je morao naglo kočiti. Scuderia Ferrari će platiti kaznu od 20 000 dolara dok Alonso nije kažnjen.
Svi znamo da Catalyuna nije staza za pretjecanje i utrka nije toliko uzbudljiva, ali se isto tako vidi dokle je koja momčad dogurala sa svojim bolidom. No možda kiša i ovaj put poremeti planove...

A tenth is not that much, but unfortunately it was too much for me today. Still, it was a good qualifying session from us and I think starting on the first row is a good result. Q: Sebastian, nothing to choose between you, but this race - I don’t have to remind you - has been won from pole for the last nine years. Do you feel like changing history tomorrow?
Sebastian Vettel: Yes, of course. First of all, congratulations to Mark. He was not beatable today. It was close. I think I had good laps throughout qualifying, especially at the end but it was just not enough, so a tenth is not much, but today it was a bit too much for me. Still, I think it was a very good qualifying from us. Obviously the race is tomorrow, so no points today. It will be a long race. For sure, at the moment, it looks comfortable but we know how quickly things can change, so we have to stay focused and see tomorrow. It will be a tough one. Maybe there is some rain, so we will see, but it’s a long race, as I said. I think starting second, first row, is a good result. As Mark said, the team especially has made an incredible effort to bring all the new bits and they work, so that’s a good thing. Back in the factory they have also been flat out for the last two or three weeks, so congratulations to them.

Q: Sebastian, I guess the battle is good fun providing you are winning it?
SV: As Mark said and as you said we are enjoying ourselves. Mark wants to beat me and I want to beat Mark. That is not a secret. That is normal in every team. Once you are ahead and another time you are behind. He did a very good job today. Congratulations. It was a very smooth run through all the qualifying sessions. He seemed to beat me always too much in the last sector, so I am looking forward to seeing the data and seeing where I have lost the time. Maybe I can find something for tomorrow, but it was close, one tenth, but most important is that we are on the front row both of us and even if it might look comfortable from the lap times I think we have to keep the feet on the ground as tomorrow is the most important day. So far we have been quick and we have done a good job but we see tomorrow.

Q: But you have got a margin of seven-tenths-of-a-second over the rest of the field.
SV: If we are here tomorrow and we can confirm then I will be very pleased. But we are not living in tomorrow. We are living today and it is a long race. Anything can happen, maybe it will rain. I think it is not 100 per cent clear yet, well it is never, but people were talking about some possible showers, so we will have to see.

Q: You started second last year. Do you remember the start and how you might make up the one place?
SV: I had a good start but unfortunately last year we had a system called KERS which didn’t help me as I got stuck behind Felipe (Massa) for 50 out of 56 something laps, so it was quite boring. I think I knew everything about the Ferrari rear wing at the end of the race,. But we see tomorrow. It is a long, long way down to turn one. There is a difference as I am on the dirty side but statistically you can now argue and say the pole setter is in a better position or the second guy or the guy in third but it is always open and that is why we are racing.

Spanish GP 2010: Free Practice 3

Red Bull je nastavio jučerašnju dominaciju na španjolskoj Catalunyi, te sa Sebastianom Vettelom i Markom Webberom ponovno zauzeo vodeće pozicije na trećim slobodnim treninzima.
McLarenovi vozači, Lewis Hamilton i Jenson Button, završili su na trećem i četvrtom mjestu ispred Michaela Schumachera, kojega prate Felipe Massa i momčadski kolega Nico Rosberg. Fernando Alonso je pred domaćom publikom stigao do osmog mjesta ispred Roberta Kubice i Adriana Sutila.
Tijekom posljednjih slobodnih treninga bio je samo jedan prekid - onaj kojeg je izazvao Vitalij Petrov. Rus je u četvrtom zavoju izgubio kontrolu nad bolidom i završio u gumenom zidu, ostavivši svojim mehaničarima dosta posla oko popravljanja štete.

Nakon jutarnje dominacije McLarena, vodeće pozicije na drugim slobodnim treninzima pripale su Sebastianu Vettelu i Marku Webberu u Red Bullovima. Treće najbrže vrijeme ponovno je postavio Michael Schumacher.
Fernando Alonso bio je četvrti najbrži ispred Lewisa Hamiltona i Roberta Kubice. Nico Rosberg ponovno nije uspio pratiti tempo momčadskog kolege, te je završio na sedmom mjestu - 1.3 sekunde iza vodećeg sunarodnjaka.
Poredak prve desetorice zaključili su Felipe Massa, Jenson Button i Adrian Sutil.
Jedini prekid treninga izazvao je Nico Hulkenberg, koji je izletio u posljednjem zavoju i oštetio prednji i stšražnji kraj Williamsovog bolida.

SV: "We've got a few changes on our car, but I don't think anything as significant perhaps some of the other teams have. There's a little bit everywhere on ours and I think we've proved today that our changes work. I think the lap times are irrelevant from a Friday. It's good to be fast, but I think the McLarens are quick here - I don't think they were pushing hard this afternoon and I think it will be much closer tomorrow."

McLarenovi vozači, Lewis Hamilton i Jenson Button zauzeli su vodeće pozicije na prvim slobodnim treninzima za V.N. Španjolske. Dvojac je završio ispred sedmererostrukog svjetskog prvaka, Michaela Schumachera, koji je danas nastupio s unaprijeđenim Mercedesovim bolidom.
Četvrto i peto mjesto zauzeli su Red Bullovi vozači, Mark Webber i Sebastian Vettel, nakon kojih slijedi Nico Rosberg u drugom Mercedesu i Robert Kubica u Renaultu.
Fernando Alonso plasirao se na osmo mjesto, ispred Vitalija Petrova, uz zaostatak od 1.2 sekunde.
Samo da napomenem da je C.Klien postao test vozač HRT-a te je vozio za njih na 1. slobodnom treningu.

Q: Sebastian, Red Bull always bring loads of modifications to every race.
Sebastian Vettel: We try our best. Similar for all the teams in the top. You try to at least stay where you are if not make a step forward, so we brought some new parts. I think we are in the same situations as the others as I said trying to make a step forward. I had a haircut. I saw Fernando had one to. I dropped more than he did, so I hope that our car will make a bigger step than his and we can stay ahead, so we have to see. Obviously it is a lot of work tomorrow. Not quite sure if we are in the right country. Usually it is always sunny. It is quite cold I think for Spain, but if any, it should help us coming from the north. We are used to this kind of weather but wouldn’t mind if it was a bit warmer, so what is wrong with your country?
FA: You have to go to my home town. It is hot.

Q: Another question to all of you. What is your target at this stage of the season? What are you looking to do to improve over the next few races? Jaime, would you like to start again.
SV: I think for us, like everyone, we had four races. One out of four was perfect. Two out of four we struggled for reliability, so we didn’t finish where we wanted to and then another one out of four was chaotic. In the end I think we saved a couple of points at least. It was not our strongest weekend in China but at least some points, so it is a bit up and down. For here and for the next couple of races just trying to execute a clean Sunday. On Saturdays we have always been very strong, so just trying to convert Saturday’s strength into a good Sunday result.

Q: Sebastian, you’ve had three poles, and actually won from the time that you didn’t have pole position. The last nine races here have been won by the pole-winner, you might like to hear. So, how important is pole going to be this weekend?
SV: Pole is always important. As Pedro said, where you put the car on Saturday will determine your race result by quite a bit on Sunday, but the race is there to find out and there are no points on Saturday. I think we have had good Saturdays. In the race that I won in Malaysia I started third which is still at the front, so not too bad, but obviously the target is the same again: start from pole and try to win the race. I had a similar comment, I remember, last year in Istanbul where someone came to me on the grid and said the last five winners at Istanbul all came from pole position but it turned out to be different on that day. Statistics are nice for you guys but for us it’s more the day that counts and the moment, so we try to do our best. First of all we need to focus on tomorrow, trying to get every part to work and then we will see where we can put the car on Saturday on the grid and on Sunday we will have a long race, so it will be tough.

Q: (Joris Fioriti – AFP) Sebastian, you’ve had the best car, but you’ve only won one race out of four, so now the championship starts. Do you think you can make it in this new championship?
SV: Well, that’s our target. I think I am in the wrong place if I don’t believe in us and in myself. Yes, the first four races were a bit up and down. We had only one win but in the end that’s history, we can’t change it any more. We have to look ahead and that’s all we try to focus on first of all tomorrow and then Saturday and Sunday and whatever comes after that is of zero importance now. All eyes are now on this weekend, so we try to go step by step and I think that’s the only way that you can be consistent and the only way that you can ultimately fight for a championship.

Sebastian Vettel: Well, to start from pole and end P6 is not as intended by the inventor, but it was a very turbulent race and on top of that we weren’t fast enough at some parts of the race and probably lost the race in those moments. It also might be argued that strategically we could have done better in some situations, but to have a clear vision and judgement is always easy in hindsight…

Q: How do you see the fact that the RB6 was by far the fastest car in the first three races but not in the fourth race?
SV: Well, I think that Sunday in Shanghai was a hot pot - and I don’t mean that in terms of temperature. The conditions were extremely unpredictable - like obviously also this weekend here in Barcelona. Five minutes ago it was raining, now the sun is out again. I hope that is no sign for Sunday! Generally I don’t see anything to worry about because our car has the right pace and we’ve some upgrades on the car, so let’s hope that will do for the race. Hopefully better than P6!

Q: The first European race almost feels like a new start to the season. What have those four flyaway races taught you so far?
SV: One race felt really good: Malaysia was ours. At two races we’ve been en route to the top spot on the podium, but something came between the trophy and the RB6. And then there was that race in Shanghai that was rather chaotic, with a kind of fluctuation in the positions that we weren’t able to use to our advantage. In the end we were able to pocket the points for P6. Shanghai was one of those races where in the end you are just happy to finish and to collect points.

Q: What you’ve just said was a narration - but not an interpretation…
SV: The interpretation I’ve given before: the car is fast and there is no reason to worry. The season is still very young and there are many opportunities for wins ahead. Sure, it’s about time that the car delivers on Sunday and we have a smooth race ahead.

Q: How happy are you that the European season has finally started?
SV: The biggest difference for sure is the distance to the venues. There is no real change in the conditions this weekend, so I was told. It is pretty cold for Spain at this time of the year and there is even a chance of rain on Sunday. But let’s see what the weekend brings.

Q: You are still talked about positively in the media commentaries, in contrast to Michael Schumacher. Is that something that you follow and do you think these commentaries as just?
SV: I think it a bit unjust. Sure, people expected a lot but if would be fairer to give him more time. Sure, everybody has his own window of time so I don’t want to add another commentary to this discussion. All I can say is that I am sure that he knows what he is doing and it is always difficult to comment on internal team matters from the outside. But I am sure that if there is someone to pull it off after three years of sabbatical then it is Michael. I am sure that we will see him fighting for the front in the next couple of races.

Q: If you look at the current pecking order in the paddock - Red Bull, McLaren, Ferrari and so on - do you think that this will change in the near future to the advantage of Mercedes? Or is the situation rather stalled?
SV: It is possible. If you are able to make a huge leap in development - more than all the other teams - then it is within reach. But of course I don’t believe in a real revolution in the hierarchy of the pecking order. If you bet money on the big four you sure can’t go wrong.

Q: How far along is the development of Red Bull’s ‘F-duct’ system? Wouldn’t that be the huge leap you just mentioned?
SV: We are developing and planning to introduce it at one of the next races, but that’s not so easy as people might think. The chassis are homologated since the first race and to add it to a fully designed chassis does not happen in the twinkling of an eye - but we are close.

Q: A leap forward in a personal way: how huge will your jump be on Sunday? When looking at the standings is there already some sort of pressure when it comes to the championship?
SV: I don’t think that 15 points behind is the end of the world if you get 25 points for a win!

Heinz Kinigadner i predsjednik Red Bull kompanije Dietrich Mateschitz organizatori su udruge Wings for Life koja je dobila dva nova ambasadora, vozače Red Bulla Sebastiana Vettela i Marka Webbera. Oni su se pridružili ostalim ambasadorima Davidu Coulthardu, Gerhardu Bergeru, Philippeu Streiffu i Felixu Baumgartneru.
Sebastian Vettel kaže kako je već sudjelovao u ovoj udruzi te mu je jako drago što je postao ambasador: “Jako sam ponosan što sam postao ambasador. Kroz moje prijateljstvo s Heinzom i njegovim sinom Hannesom koji je u kolicima od 2003. nakon strašne sportske nesreće, postao sam umješan u Wings for Life. Kao su njih dvojica zadržali svoju vjeru me impresioniralo. Vjerujem u važan posao organizacije kako bi paraplegija postala izlječiva." kaže Vettel koji je prošli vikend bio na motorsportskome showu udruge.

Povijest:
Staza u Barceloni je napravljena 1991. godine nakon što je Španjolska auto-moto federacija odlučila prestati dijeliti VN Španjolske sa četiri druge staze. Sama staza smještena je nešto sjevernije od Barcelone, a njen izgled i izvedba su bolji od većine drugih staza iz kalendara natjecanja. Pri projektiranju staze dizajner je uzeo u obzir činjenicu da većina gledatelja voli gledati utrke sa mnogo prestizanja i uzbuđenja.
Prvi zavoj na stazi je oštri desni sa velikom šljunčanom zamkom odmah pokraj staze tako da vozači trebaju biti jako oprezni te moraju prilično jako kočiti prije samog zavoja. U prvoj utrci na stazi 1991. godine pobjednik je bio Nigel Mansell. Njegovi tada veliki protivnici Gerhard Berger i Ayrton Senna nisu bili uspješni u prvom nastupu na stazi. Bergeru je eksplodirao motor dok je Senna pogriješio pri odabiru guma jer su vremenski uvjeti bili promjenjivi.
Nigel Mansell je po drugi puta slavio u utrci na stazi u Barceloni već slijedeće 1992. godine dok je drugo mjesto zauzeo tada novak u Formuli 1 Michael Schumacher. Senna opet nije imao uspjeha na stazi jer se je njegov bolid zavrtio na stazi te zabio u zaštitni zid nekoliko krugova prije kraja utrke. 1993. godine na stazi je dominirao Alain Prost vozeći Williams i to ispred Ayrtona Senne koji kao da nije imao sreće na stazi. Damon Hill bio je pobjednik 1994. godine te je svojom pobjedom uspio vratiti osmjeh na lica ljudima iz svoga tima, nakon velike tragedije u kojoj je smrtno nastradao Ayrton Senna.
Te godine Michael Schumacher je ponovno osvojio drugo mjesto u utrci na toj stazi. Ta osvojena dva druga mjesta za Michaela Schumachera kao da su najavljivali njegove dvije uzastopne pobjede 1995. godine i 1996. godine kada se utrka vozila po kišnim uvjetima koje je Michael znao iskoristiti jer je sa 6-og mjesta na prvo došao već u 12 krugu. 1997. godine Williamsov bolid se pokazuje kao najbolji jer pobjedu odnosi njegov vozač Jacques Villeneue.
Nakon te Williamsove pobjede dolazi do trogodišnje dominacije McLarena i njihovog vozača Mike Hakkinena. '98., '99. i 2000.-te McLaren se činio nepobjedivim i nadmoćnim u odnosu na bolide ostalih timova. Iduće godine Ferrari uspješno zaustavlja dominaciju McLarena na stazi te Michael Schumacher ostvaruje i svoju treću pobjedu na stazi.
U iduće dvije godine, pobjednik Velike Nagrade Španjolske se nije mijenjao. Michael Schumacher je u 2002. i 2003. nastavio svoju dominaciju na Španjolskoj stazi te je jednostavno bio nepobjediv.
2004. Michael Schumacher je na Španjolskoj stazi ostvario svoju petu uzastopnu pobjedu sezone i tako po drugi put sustigao svoji rekord kojeg je izvorno postavio bivši svjetski prvak, Nigel Mansell 1992. godine zahvaljujući odličnom Williamsovom bolidu sa aktivnim ovjesom.
Godinu dana kasnije pobjedu u Španjolskoj slavio je Kimi Raikkonen u McLaren-Mercedesu. Finac je vodio utrku od samog početka kada je startao s pole pozicije sve do prolaska kroz cilj. Nakon Kimija slijede Alonso u Renaultu i Trulli koji je ostvario još jedan podij za Toyotinu momčad.
2006. godine Fernando Alonso je napokon slavio na domaćem terenu. Španjolac je uvjerljivo pobijedio ispred Michaela Schumachera i momčadskog kolege Giancarla Fisichelle.
2007. na španjolskom je tlu Felipe Massa slavio svoju drugu pobjedu u sezonu ispred McLarenovog dvojca - Lewisa Hamiltona i Fernanda Alonsa.
Iduće godine Ferrari nastavlja svoju dominaciju započetu na prethodnoj utrci s dvostrukom pobjedom Kimija Raikkonena i Felipea Masse. Na trećem mjestu je završio jedini vozač McLaren-Mercedesa Lewis Hamilton, jer je njegov timski kolega Heikki Kovalainen u 21. krugu utrke doživio tešku nesreću, udarivši u zid.
2009. je Brawn GP sa svojim vozačima, Jensonom Buttonom i Rubensom Barrichellom, ostvario drugu dvostruku pobjedu u sezoni. Treće mjesto pripalo je Marku Webberu u Red Bullu.

2010 Fullgas at Kini (Wings For Life)

Vozač Red Bulla Sebastian Vettel je sudjelovao na dobrotvornoj akciji Wings For Life ovaj vikend u Austriji gdje je isto tako bio njegov bivši šef iz Torro Rossa Gerhard Berger.
Na sjajnome motorsportskome showu još su bili Heinz Kinigadner, Jimmy Verburgh, Adam Raga... Isto tako su bili izloženi sjajni trkači auti te motori.
