We made it! After waking up early to finish the last packing and
cleaning, the apartment checked out- we'll be expecting a full refund-
we were off to the airport, 4 hours or so later we were in Beijing!
The airport was super slick, all new from the olympics and I'm
surprised how much English there is around, although once we go south,
we'll have to bust out the phrase book.
We're staying at a great hotel near the forbidden city, and a close
walk gets us to a line up of street carts! We tried some fried gyoza
type things and mini dumplings, it was great, but again I can't taste
much with this damn cold. We were offered sheep penis and testicles,
but we refused, jeff got a good shot at some other not so appetizing
stuff on a stick:) tomorrow we'll explore a little around the
forbidden city, but for now I can't wait to lay in our comfy bed and
veg and not worry about cleaning and packing!!!
Finally, HOME!
after 20+ hours stuck in Japan, I finally got back in Beijing, had to stay at a hotel in some bonnies near Narita airport. the flight was cancelled yesterday due to heavy snow in Beijing.
WAIT WAIT WAIT, the last 30 hours were all about waiting.
from tropical summer Hawaii, to freezing Beijing, the beginning of the new year is pretty impressive.
I'm exhausted.
