My V8 Killer
This is a very old scan of a photo I setup 19 yrs ago on the way back from the Bathurst 1000. Promise I'll find the neg and rescan because it's one of my favourite photos of my favourite car (I've owned 29).
Thanks for the kind words. Yes it was an awesome car. For anyone interested in the specifications:
1970 model Datsun 240Z. One of the very first to be imported into Australia.
Engine: L28 (2.8L) lifted from a later model Datsun 280ZX
Mild cam, TRIPLE 40mm Dellorto Carburettors, interference headers, stainless steel 2.5" exhaust, lightweight cooling fan, solid state fuel pump, Yokohama 352 tyres, lightened body (metal removed) 4 speed gearbox from Patrol 4WD, R200 diff from 260Z. Sports Steering wheel (small diameter and no power steering, ouch). Deep front spoiler.
It was easily the fastest car of any of my friends and that includes some worked 5L V8's. A downshift to 3rd and squirt to catch an orange light would guarantee muted fear from any passenger. My brother once left dents from his fingers in the top of the dash from holding on for dear life. My now departed uncle Ghazy (may Allah have mercy on him) once asked if he could drive it. He got about 50m down the road, hit the brakes, got out, walked over and handed me back the keys saying "how could you let me drive that thing!".
