Gyaaahhh!! I love kids!

Personally I'd like a boy someday (far far far far away) but if I had a baby girl, she'd likely look like Jeeni* here!

*That may or may not be her name. Ha. -_-" Maybe I should pay attention.

I learned something about shooting kids today! (Wow, that is NOT a good sentence.) Anyway, some kids get pressured and nervous with a big SLR in their face. A fast zoom from further away would have been preferred. But all I had was the 35mm prime, so that was out.

Better technique? Prefocus on the kids eyes, take your eye away from the camera, and...wait! If you're not looking through the camera, the kid forgets about you.

Which is good!

Then they're free to play and interact, and all you have to do is anticipate and push the shutter release!

Of course, that may present some cropping fails, like in the comments, but sometimes those can turn out well too!
