Royal Albert Old Country Roses Salad Plate

Royal Albert's "Old Country Roses" tableware design is one of the most popular bone china patterns of all time. It has sold over 150 million pieces since it was introduced in 1962. The success of Royal Albert, founded in 1896, billows from its quintessentially English grace and elegance and its sense of timeless, romantic fantasy. These qualities are reflected through the delicate floral decoration and flowing curves.

Designed in 1962 by Harold Holdcroft, Royal Albert's Old Country Roses has become one of the most popular china patterns in the company's century-long history. The sumptuous design is enhanced by the pieces’ sophisticated shape, graceful floral ornamentation, and rich feminine colors, with a style and elegance that are uniquely English.
Measuring 8 inches in diameter, this round salad plate beautifully complements the entire line of Old Country Roses tableware pieces. The crisp whiteness of the plate gracefully showcases the outer ring of country roses in shades of pink and soft yellow. Set on a bed of greenery, the delicate flowers resemble those growing in a classic English garden. A fluted pattern and hand-trimmed border in 22-carat gold completes the romantic design. The Mad Hatter visits 1 Ramsey Lane Edinburgh off Castlehill former Edinburgh's poor school which was here years before woodcarver George Robertson started his apprenticeship iunder Thomas Good Sculptor and wood carver before taking over business as Master Woodcarver.
It was on these premises that Mr Robertson modelled and carved Edinburgh's cuckoo for The Floral Clock in 1952.and many other fantastic objects including repairs in churches and n 1947 cornices at Bank of Scotland The Mound and war memorials.Before setting up The Rest and be Thankful cafe 1959-1962 renamed Jacobean cafe & Gift Shop 1962 - 1976 now part of The camera Obscura Outlook Tower development who are now installing a new staircase at other end of building.
