I am from Croatia, a stupendous country on the Adriatic Sea, with 1,185 islands and islets that make Croatian archipelago the second largest in the Mediterranean (after Greece). Croatia has 8 national parks with the Plitvice Lakes being among the most beautiful sights in Europe.
I live on the peninsula of Istria that borders Slovenia on the north and has a maritime border with Italy. Istria is the most popular destination for foreign visitors to Croatia. There are many sightseeing places like archaeological sites, medieval forts, water streams and pitoresque towns on the coast. You can get to Porec easily by car, bus, train and plane or look at the 2009 schedule for low-cost flights from U.K.
My hometown Porec is located on the western coast of Istria. It is a 2,000 years old town that has frequently been proclaimed the top resort in Croatia. The main tourist areas are two bays south of the town, called Zelena (Green) and Plava (Blue) Laguna (lagoon). These are touristic villages, with many hotels, camping, marinas, shopping, entertainment areas and over 100,000 beds available, but hotels and other facilities are widely spread so the place never feels too crowded.

I spend all my summer (May to Sept) here, by either playing volleyball or kayaking, rollerblading, jogging, biking or just chilling on the beach.
