SNALAZENJE U ZA MENE NOVOJ VIZUALNOJ FORMI

Naucio sam novu tehniku, tehniku stop animacije. Napravio sam tri filma. Potom sam to animirao i smontirao. Treci je ORKESTAR CRNO BIJELE TEHNIKE.

“GETTING BY” IN THIS (FOR ME) NEW VISUAL FORM

I learned a new technique—technique of stop animation. I made two films. The first is The Arrival of the Invisible. The second film emerged—contrary to the first which is more formalist—out of existential need, while I was sitting in scorching Pocitelj and dreaming about the seacoast. I simply got up and went outside to record what I thought up. Afterwards, I animated and edited that material.

PRIMLJEN NA WORKSHOP REUTERSOVOG FOTOREPORTERA DAMIRA ŠAGOLJA Izazovi novinskog fotoreportera

Hvala toj divnoj djeci kojoj cu opet organizirati filmske projekcije.

ACCEPTED INTO THE WORKSHOP ORGANIZED BY REUTERS' PHOTOREPORTER DAMIR SAGOLJ
“Challenges of a journalistic photo-reporter”

Damir Šagolj, our acclaimed journalist-photographer, opened with a brilliant and extremely honest keynote lecture the workshop organized by Sarajevo Media Center on the topic of “Challenges of Photojournalism.” He talked about his experiences from the war zones, the ways in which he comes by different opportunities to photoreport, about the techniques he uses, about technology etc.
So, as a response, I produced a short video, which I subsequently screened, with the help of my friend Halid Bunic, at the Organization for the Blind and Partially Blind. This short film is about their members. The idea was to open up the lens and increase exposition to produce photographs which are “naturally” blurry, to emulate the way in which these kids see the world.
During the screening, one blind boy wanted to know what's a still camera, so I explained it to him. He then wanted to take photos. I am guarding all of his photos even more carefully than my own. I am grateful to those wonderful kids for whom I will surely organize other film screenings.

On sada predaje u Dubaiu.

INVITED TO THE WORKSHOP OF GRAPHICS AND ANIMATION IN POČITELJ

A dear friend and colleague, professor Zlatan Filipović, who left Sarajevo because such a great young guy could “not” work at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, invited me to attend his workshop in the gorgeous town of Počitelj. He now teaches in Dubai. I had a beautiful time during the workshop; I made several works of animation which was a new experience for me, an experience in a new medium. I am happy to be continuing my journey, step by step, which follows the genius refrain from Do You Remember Dolly Bell? that goes something like this: “Each day, in every way, I detect a new progress in my self-development…” You can watch these shorts on the next page, under the rubric CINEMATOGRAPHY.
