1990: Endangered Species
The camera I was using was a reasonable but limited point and shoot Konica. The downside was that I couldn't set the shutter speed to stop a moving vehicle. I took a gamble here and it paid off, probably because the bus was slowing for a junction.
By 1990, there was very little left to remind anyone of Coventry Transport but the last buses they ordered, could still be seen. There were 40 of these East Lancs Fleetlines, new in 1977-78 to the West Midlands PTE but fewer than half were still running by early 1990. I had no inside knowledge of or connections to West Midlands Travel and it seemed to me as though they had little time left to serve. I was glad to proved wrong.
This is 6743, new in 1977, about to turn into Daventry Road on route 21, in March 1990. The building behind is the start of a 1930s shopping parade, of a type which sprung up all around the UK in the inter war years.

sakal published an article on my homemade lenses
Camera Lens, a different way…
To make good pictures, you need a good camera with good lenses. Such lenses are expensive in India. “What if we make lens at home?” was the question that came to the mind of Pune based Meghana Kulkarni, an architect by profession. Who went ahead and successfully experimented on making lens at home. Today, she is also known for her lens along with photography.
While studying architecture, Meghana, fell in love with Photography. From here her search for lens with special effects started. While searching the internet, she stumbled upon people in foreign countries who made lens at home. She thought, “What if I made those lenses?” This triggered her experimentation with home made lens for “special” effects.
Till date Meghana has made 3-4 special lenses, like a Macro lens for close up photography and a Lens baby. What’s even more special about these lenses is that she made them using stuff easily found at home: paper, cloth, driller and glass from old magnifying glasses. She has also made a pinhole camera using old cameras.
She publishes information abt her experiments on her website too.
Even though she is an architect, photography has become her passion. Some of her photos have also been published in travel magazines. Such magazines are always open to different types of pictures.
Apart from this, she also wants to try film photography and developing.
Errors:
1. I publish information about my experiements on my blog. I don't have a website... yet
2. I made a pinhole camera out of a sweet shop box and not out of an old camera.
Things I'm unsure about:
1. if a driller is commonly found in every household.
2. If travel magazines really open to different types of photographs.
CERTOFIX Pronto (1938)
Certofix Pronto, Dresden, 6 x 9 cm, 120 film, Josef Schneider & Co. Kreuznach, No.: 355288, Radionar, 3 lenses in 3 groups, f:4,5 F=10,5 cm, Alfred Gaulthier Calmbach, 1/25 sec., 1/50 sec., 1/100 sec., T, B, Aperture 4,5 - 5,6 - 8 - 11 - 16 - 22 - 32, Focus 1m - infinity, selfshutter, brilliant viewfinder. Built aprox. 1938.
Unfortunately there is not much information on the internet. I got this camera in unbelievable good condition. It´s like new, no scratches or dents, no fungus, no rust or similar. Just a little dust on the lenses wich where easy to clean. But that´s o.k. with an age of 73 years.
Also the box is nearly mint.

It's getting about that time
To start looking at new cameras.
My Canon Rebel XS has served me well. But I'm hitting the limitations of what it can do now.
#1 is high ISO. This camera tops out at 1600 but it's unusable as there is just too much noise even with high ISO noise reduction and dark frame activated.
#2 is speed. As in next shot. Even with a class 10 card I'm still only good for about 8 shots (haven't really counted) before it starts to slow. Shooting in RAW slows it even more and is the #1 reason I rarely shoot in RAW.
I want to do more stat shots and do not have the ISO needed to get the nice pinpoint stars cleanly.
Trains my #1 subject if you have not guessed (LOL) move fast and need a fast camera. Clean high ISO helps there as well.
I have thought of a Canon Revel T2 or T3 as my next step. But under some advice I should move beyond entry level DLSR's. I have looked at the reviews on a Canon D60. It got good reviews but still had noise problems above 800 ISO. Have not looked at the reviews on Canon 7D or 5D.
Will review those soon.
Also thinking if I will stick with Canon or go with Nikon or even another brand. Canon and Nikon are easiest to get lenses and parts for local anyway. Since I only own three lenses switching brands before I get more involved in Canon get still be done.
The one Canon vs. Nikon comparison (closest in specs) review I watched the Nikon beat the Canon in ISO. Yes they both had they good and bad and neither was the clear winner. It was down to what you shoot. Since I do a little of everything I need something that does well all around. Yea not asking for much I know.
Budget is a factor as we all know. Right now I can swing a $2,000 or shoot even a $1,000 camera.
Just hitting a wall and getting frustrated at this point.
After 15,000 or more shots I would say this camera had done me well.
Updates:
Canon 5D is off the list for now. $2500. :<(
Canon 7D sounds good and can nab 3200 ISO well and $1200 still steep but more in my price line.

Forgive them Father cause they do not know what they do
Walking through an antique store I saw these cameras, and my photographic heart went out to them. They looked so lonley, in such great condition. It felt as if I was at the dog pound looking at a caged dogs begging to be set lose in someone's backyard to play. These camera's was begging to take pictures.
Before I leftI gave the owner of the store a roll of film to give to whomever wants purchase one of these caged cameras.
Nikon EM Manual Camera
Picture of my Nikon manual EM camera.
I just made a DIY light tent from a bin from Walmart, this was a shot taken while testing it out. There are 2 pieces of 11x17 printer paper on either side of it with 2 bare YN460-II flashes. I have a piece of white poster board for the seamless background.
I think that the only thing it needs is a reflector for the front or possibly another flash to fill with.
