Once upon a time in a place far away, lived a man named Gary Larson who used to draw cartoons. It was a cartoon that appeared for many years in daily newspapers and was loved by millions. (And was confusing to millions more.) But one day he stopped.
Gary went into hiding. He made a couple short films. He played his guitar. He threw sticks for his dogs. They threw some back.
Yet Gary was restless. He couldn't sleep nights. Something haunted him. (Besides Gramps.) Something that would return him to his roots in biology, drawing and dementia--a tale called There's a Hair in My Dirt! A Worm's Story.
It begins a few inches underground, when a young worm, during a typical family dinner, discovers there's a hair in his plate of dirt. He becomes rather upset, not just about his tainted meal but about his entire miserable, wormy life. This, in turn, spurs his father to tell him a story--a story to inspire the children of invertebrates everywhere.
And so Father Worm describes the saga of a fair young maiden and her adventuresome stroll through her favorite forest, a perambulator's paradise. It is a journey filled with mystery and magic. Or so she thinks.

The Kills -Terminal 5 Show T-Shirt

Last time I went to see a live band, I didn't get the t-shirt that they had at the show. It so happens, it was the last time NIN would perform forever (according to Trent Reznor). What I didn't know was that the t-shirt at each show, were exclusive to that Venue. I regret it so much, especially after the inflated eBay prices, that I told myself that I would buy every t-shirt at the end of each show I see (if available).

Here we have an exclusive t-shirt that can only be bought at The Kills performance. Pretty damn kool print and interesting concept. I'll be going to see them again on August 8 for their second Horrahh show in NYC and intend to buy another shirt. Hopefully they have a different one...

It was also interesting to see the result I got with these settings because there was only one light on it.

1. books, I cannot imagine narrowing it down to one but possibly i could fit them all in one bookshelf.

2. clothes, Jeans and a t-shirt have always been the way for me.

3. comfort, I find enormous comfort in the unknown the open and endless possiblity's of space and time. I find comfort in art, the way it can catch our eyes and turn our minds to the different possiblities of perception. I find comfort in the ablity to put your life aside and emerse yourself and your emotions in a good book, or movie.

4. place, The lands and places i find in my books and the time i spend inside my head exploring the neverending imaginary worlds.

5. possessions, I value my teddy bear at number one he is as old as me and has been loved dearly, he now sits on top of my shelf next to my bed, watching over me as i sleep.

6. music, I love my ipod it allows me too escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. And also singing in the shower is a favourite.

7. shoes, Gumboots are the greatest possible shoe invented, they allow you to splash and dance and play in puddles will keeping your toesys warm and dry.

8. weather, I love a good thunderstorm where you can sit on the balcony and be in awe of great lightning bolts throwing themselves to the ground and the sound of thunder rolling around the great hills invading every home and reverbrating till the house starts to shake. I love a beautiful sunny day just after a storm when a rainbow comes out to great you.

alright, he's gone for now.... that was the weirdest thing that has happened to me....

ANYWAYS...I am going to bed soon and I don't know if I'd be up to take a picture in the morning or when I wake up.... So I took one now. I've been wanting to this one for a long time...this was my very first 365 idea, but I waited until now.
I don't know if you can tell, but that's a light socket I'm sticking my finger in! I wish my hair was a lot more messy. I had the fan blowing so it would look like I was just freshly getting shocked.
My shirt is awesome! it has a robot with a boombox and lightening bolts...now that would have been cool if you could see it, but my back is towards my turtle's light. I wanted more light in the only corner of my room with free wall space and a socket not being used for anything important.
hmmm, i really need to get photoshop...
Happy August! 11 days until my 17th birthday!.....yay I can go see rated R movies legally! hahahaha.

The beam is made using cross grain laminated wood construction. This gives the beam its strength and prevents warping or twisting. No center support is needed. The core is planed and sanded to the competition oval beam shape. Our beams are built as close as possible to competition beams for a realistic training experience. My mind still can't process this. Every time I try to associate words like 'dead' or 'passed way' with Dan, I just break down all over again. I feel so heartbroken, so I can't even begin to imagine what Susie, his babies, and the rest of his family and friends must be going through. My condolences go out to them; I only wish I could do more.

I Heart the Tweed Ride!!

I had a fantabulous day today at Toronto's first Tweed Ride. Even with blustery and a bit wet weather (very British you know), we had a great turn out of riders of all sorts. More shots to post later but now I'm *exhausted*! Time to hit the hay!

The Intermountain Indian School

The Intermountain Indian School is located in Brigham City, Utah, and was originally the Bushnell Army Hospital. The hospital was open from 1942 to 1947 serving wounded soldiers of World War II. After the hospital's closure, the buildings sat empty for a short time and in 1948, Brigham City got a proposal for an Indian school and by January 1950, 542 students were accepted at the federally run Intermountain Indian School. The school was for Navajo children who were bused in from Arizona and were taught from elementary to high school. The school had its own medical facility and printing press. The school was closed in 1984. The Indian school (as it is known today) is a favorite haunt for Ghost Hunters who believe the school to be haunted. My wife and I were there all day; I didn’t see a single ghost. The place sure looks haunted though!

No Smoking in Japan

A rather humorous but fairly common sight here in downtown Tokyo. The sign informs all the people in this park (80% of them smoking away) that there is ni smoking here. Several years ago, a number of districts in the downtown area passed ordniances making it illegal to smoke in public areas. It pas part of a big movement to reduce smoking and some behaviors associated with smokers.

Inparticular was the ban against smoking on the street. Many smokers in Japan are very polite and carry portable ashtrays in thier pockets, but a lot of them would just drop thier butts on the street or smoke while walking on crowded sidewalks. I once had a shirt sprinkled by hot ash by some jerk waving his cigarette wildly around while he was chatting away on his cellphone.

There are some areas set up as "smokers paradise" and they get heavily used. In fact, they get so smokey you don't even need to print your own cigarettes. Just walk in and breath deeply ;)

If you are a smoker visiting Tokyo, better keep the rules in mind and ask before you light up. But the bright side is Japanese stores have some very cool portable ashtrays you can get.

This guy told two older gentleman to move there boat so he could put his boat in, even though they were not in his way, then he threw his truck in reverse and backed down the ramp too fast making his boat fall off the trailer, not noticing what happened he backed the trailer in to the boat and pushed it down the ramp and in to the water. All the while dragging his wife down the dock who had a hold of the rope to the boat and to their child. If he can be this big of a jerk on a beautiful Sunday in December just days after Christmas,
what is he like the rest of the year?

Intramural champion, back

Here's a vintage IM Champion shirt from my junior or senior year, when Hale House were undergraduate football champions. I think we ended up losing to the med school in the overall championships, but I wasn't there because I had to stop playing halfway through the season after I got tackled by some jackass (it's TOUCH football, Einstein) and developed a blind spot. I still got a shirt out of it, though.

I did vote for Obama myself, but I somehow dislike seeing all this merchandise getting sold in the street. He hasn't done anything for this country yet, but he is already getting iconized. Is that a good thing? I'm not sure.
