DEATH:ALBUM SYMBOLIC RICI OD SVAKE PISME NA ALBUMU

1. SYMBOLIC

I don't mean to dwell
But I can't help myself
When I feel the vibe
And taste a memory
Of a time in life
When years seemed to stand still

I close my eyes
And sink within myself
Relive the gift of precious memories
In need of a fix called innocence

When did it begin?
The change to come was undetectable
The open wounds expose the importance of
Our innocence
A high that can never be bought or sold

Symbolic acts - so vivid
Yet at the same time
Were invisible

Savor what you feel and what you see
Things that may not seem important now
But may be tomorrow

Do you remember when
Things seemed so eternal?
Heroes were so real...
Their magic frozen in time
The only way to learn
Is be aware and hold on tight

I close my eyes
And sink within myself
Relive the gift of precious memories
In need of a fix called innocence

When did it begin?
The change to come was undetectable
The open wounds expose the importance of
Our innocence
A high that can never be bought or sold

Symbolic acts - so vivid
Yet at the same time
Were invisible

2. ZERO TOLERANCE

In the dark of night...
Abusing a portion of light
While others are sleeping
And some are escaping
A serpent spews out fantasy -
Unjustified blasphemy
That cannot be condoned

It must be strange to not have lived
So far into existence

This is not a test of power
This is not a game to be lost or won
Let justice be done

There will be zero tolerance
For the creator of hallowed intentions
There will be zero tolerance
Fate is your deciding God

Karma comes crashing down
Leaving a very deep scar
Exposing a door to the
Source of a verbal whore
Machines supply the altar
Where virtuous lives are sacrificed

It must be strange to not have lived
So far into existence

This is not a test of power
This is not a game to be lost or won
Let justice be done

3. EMPTY WORDS

Ashes and promises share a bond
Through the winds of change
Words are blown away
When visions that should be
Are tattooed in your mind
The power to let go
Is sometimes hard to find

The answer cannot be found
In the writing of others
Or the words of a trained mind
In a precious world of memories
We finds ourselves confined

Claws so razor sharp
Ripping at the spirit

Promises a potential to hurt
Is anything real?
When forever is to be until
Deep inside, in the world of empty words...
No escaping from those haunting
empty words...

Do you ever feel it?
A craving that is so strong
To by thought rewind in order to find

Expectations that shined through the doubt
That soon would turn into the price
Of what a word will be worth
When tomorrow comes
To be and we are left
Standing on our own -
And seeing what is real...

The answer cannot be found
In the writing of others
Or the words of a trained mind
In a precious world of memories
We finds ourselves confined

Claws so razor sharp
Ripping at the spirit

Promises a potential to hurt
Is anything real?
When forever is to be until
Deep inside, in the world of empty words...
No escaping from those haunting
empty words...

4. SACRED SERENITY

Wherever we go, whatever we do
Your shadow is not far behind our steps
And our breath
Protecting and watching all...
Observing spirits on the wall
What are they telling you?

Following all instincts that are pure
Oblivious to time that may be the cure

Sacred is the gift that they
have without knowing
Serenity is knowing it's safe
from destruction of time

Maybe we could take a step back
And discover what leads us to attack
Time that is short - distance unknown
For them, each day life has just begun
Observing spirits on the wall
What are they telling you?

Following all instincts that are pure
Oblivious to time that may be the cure

Sacred is the gift that they
have without knowing
Serenity is knowing it's safe
from destruction of time

5. 1,000 EYES

Crossing the line into the other side
Emerging as prisoners
To the emptiness of time

To the left and to the right
From behind - they're out of sight
Plunging into a new found
Age of advanced observeillance
A worldwide, foolproof cage

Privacy and intimacy as we know it
Will be a memory
Among many to be passed down
To those who never knew

Living in the pupil of a 1,000 eyes

Was it overlooked in front of all our faces?
Now, all the mistakes and secrets
Cannot be erased

Viewing the blind complexity
By which laws were justified
To erase simplicity

To the left and to the right
From behind - they're out of sight
Plunging into a new found
Age of advanced observeillance
A worldwide, foolproof cage

Privacy and intimacy as we know it
Will be a memory
Among many to be passed down
To those who never knew

Living in the pupil of 1,000 eyes

We are enslaved now....

6. WITHOUT JUDGEMENT

Guilty until proven innocent
We condemn your soul and fate
Never mind the possibilities
Too busy for logic or to calculate

Take part in a diminishing breed
Where complex turns to simplicity
When pain is acknowledged
Frivolous calculations will be abolished

Without judgement what would we do?
We would be forced to look
At ourselves emerged in lost time
Assuming what may be
Without judgement
Perception would increase a million times

Distracted by the imagination
That experiments with ease
If you could taste it, it might be addictive
Where life will crush those who defy

Take part in a diminishing breed
Where complex turns to simplicity
When pain is acknowledged
Frivolous calculations will be abolished

Without judgement what would we do?
We would be forced to look
At ourselves emerged in lost time
Assuming what may be
Without judgement
Perception would increase a million times

7. CRYSTAL MOUNTAIN

Built from blind faith
Passed down from self-induced fantasy
Turn a page to justify
Conjuring power - it opens wide
On your seventh day,
is that how it's done?
Twisting your eyes to perceive
all that you want
To assume from ignorance
inflicting wounds with your
cross-turned dagger

Inside crystal mountain
Evil takes its form
Inside crystal mountain
Commandments are reborn

All the traps are set to confine
All who get in the way of the divine
In sight and in mind of the hypocrite
A slave to the curse forever confined

Shatter the myth
Don't cut yourself
On your words against
Dreams made of steel
Stronger then any faith
That inflicts pain and fear,
is that how it's done?
Twisting your eyes to perceive
all that you want
To assume from ignorance
inflicting wounds with your
cross-turned dagger

Inside crystal mountain
Evil takes its form
Inside crystal mountain
Commandments are reborn

8. MISANTHROPE

From above and around,
observations are collected
Knowledge is taken in by curious life forms
That may bring hope from beyond
Beneath the giver of life, our sun
An examination of another kind is done

A view from those who stood high
And breathed the sky
An opinion from below and from above

Some were decided, some wer not
A few looked away, but none forgot

Misanthrope
Hater of all mankind
There is some hope
For those who own their mind
They came, they saw and acknowledged
Some good, some bad
Opinion: Dangerous

Stay where you are, don't get consumed
By what they created from sheer neglect
In denial of years and years of
shattered souls
That were lost to the power of
Fragile, frightful minds

A view from those who stood high
And breathed the sky
An opinion from below and from above

Some were decided, some wer not
A few looked away, but none forgot

Misanthrope
Hater of all mankind
There is some hope
For those who own their mind
They came, they saw and acknowledged
Some good, some bad
Opinion: Dangerous

9. PERENNIAL QUEST

The journey begins with curiosity
And evolves into soul-felt questions
On the stones that we walk
And choose to make our path
Sometimes never knowing
Other times knowing too much

Filtering out the bad that holds us back...
Take hold of what is true to your hunger
A hunger that will not go away
Plans for tomorrow, they will remain

Won't you join me on the perennial quest
Reaching into the dark, retrieving light
Search for answers on the perennial quest
Where dreams are followed, and time is a test

No time for mental crutches
The maker has moved on
I will take it raw and be on my way

Those that stood beside me
I'm glad you understand
Behind these written words
I share the simple plan
To hang on to the way that we feel

From rivers of sorrow
To oceans deep with hope
I have travelled them
Now, there is no turning back
The limit, the sky
I ask my questions Why? What today?
When tomorrow?

Filtering out the bad that holds us back...
Take hold of what is true to your hunger
A hunger that will not go away
Plans for tomorrow, they will remain

Won't you join me on the perennial quest
Reaching into the dark, retrieving light
Search for answers on the perennial quest
Where dreams are followed, and time is a test

DEATH-ALBUM SCREAM BLOODY GORE SVE PISME S ALBUMA:

1. INFERNAL DEATH

Piling the bodies
Burn them in the night
Skin grows black and withered
Decayed smell will rise

Existence fading
Into ashes
Burn those bodies
To infernal death

Human coals are burning
Repulsive yet so true
Open graves are scattered
When the work is through

Existence fading
Into ashes
Burn those bodies
To infernal death

2. ZOMBIE RITUAL

Revengeful corpse out to kill
Smell the stench, your guts will spill
Vomit for a mind, maggots for a cock
With his axe the corpse will chop

State into his eyes
Now in his spell
Kiss the rotting flesh
Now you're in hell

Drink from the goblet, the goblet of gore
Taste the Zombie's drug, now you want more
Drifting from the living, joining with the dead
Zombie dwelling maggots, now infest your head

Zombie ritual
Zombie ritual

Ceremony now complete
Chosen one is now deceased
Fucking, raping Zombie whores
Killing, feasting no remorse

Stare into his eyes
Now in his spell
Kiss the rotting flesh
Now you're in hell

Drink from the goblet, the goblet of gore
Taste the Zombie's drug, now you want more
Drifting from the living, joining with the dead
Zombie dwelling maggots, now infest your head

Zombie ritual
Zombie ritual

Zombie ritual
Zombie ritual

3. DENIAL OF LIFE

In your dreams
The pain so real
Before the dead
You'll have to kneel
Hear your future screams
See your epitaph
As you scream
The dead they laugh

Pain, growing stronger
Life, exists no longer
Welcome, to a world of pain
Death and despair

Denial of life (vile denial)
Denial of life
Denial of life

Created by your mind
To overtake your life
Sacrifical suicide
End it with a knife
Much too late
To change your mind
A bloody corpse
Is left behind

Pain, growing stronger
Life, exists no longer
Welcome, to a world of pain
Death and despair

Denial of life (vile denial)
Denial of life
Denial of life

4. SACRIFICIAL

With chainsaw in hand
Your death I demand
Slicing through your fat
My awaited gore attack

Manipulating lies
Is your way of life
Riding on cheap glory
Your life is getting gory

Watch you bleed to death
Gasping for last breath
Choking on your blood
I shit onto your guts

Sacrificial cunt
I despise
Sacrificial cunt
No more lies

Slabs of fat
lay on the ground
Ram an axe
into your mound

Time to pay the gruesome price
A stupid cunt we sacrifice

Watch you bleed to death
Gasping for last breath
Chocking on your blood
I shit onto your guts

Sacrificial cunt
I despise
Sacrificial cunt
No more lies

Sacrificial cunt
I despise
Sacrificial cunt
No more lies

5. MUTILATION

Massacred, naked to death, my revenge
Slicing deep, into your flesh, the pain intense
Dreams of hate, misery, fill my mind
Puke in your face in disgust, it's time to die

You must die in pain
You must die in pain
You must die in pain
You must die in pain

Staring your severed head in the face
I celebrate a faggot's death, human disgrace
Hanging your mangled corpse for display
My revenge was fulfilled upon this day

You must die in pain
You must die in pain
You must die in pain
You must die in pain

Mutilation
Mutilation
Mutilation
Mutilation

You must die in pain
You must die in pain
You must die in pain
You must die in pain

Mutilation
Mutilation
Mutilation
Mutilation

6. REGURGITATED GUTS

Suicidal preacher hangs himself
Unfaithful servant goes straight to hell
When he returns your life will end
Down from the skies maggot's descend
Least expecting his horrible face
Your decayed guts you soon will taste
Unholy feeling grows deep inside
Choking on your guts you open wide

Regurgitated guts
Satisfy his needs
Regurgitated guts
Now you're gonna bleed

Visions of death are growing clear
Life as a corpse is what you fear
Searching through the graves to be set free
From the curse of the priest that's come to be
So unaware of what's to come
Your guts are his when he's done
Reaching for your cross to end this pain
Your life and blood he will have drained

Regurgitated guts
Satisfy his needs
Regurgitated guts
Now you're gonna bleed

In his trance
Your eyes they bleed
Your guts come forth
For his own need

7. BAPTIZED IN BLOOD

Under command a newborn child
Submerged in blood, the dead they smile
Growing possessed, burning inside
A bloody feast for us tonight

The way of death
Is growing near just take my hand
Skies grow black
Unholy corpses upon their land

The dead they gather around
Praising the child they found
Possessed, the child small kill
The future is now revealed

Baptized in blood
destined to burn
Baptized in blood
Reborn they'll learn

Gather around, watch and see
A new creation of misery
Taking the place of the elderly dead
Forbidden ways now in his head

The way of death
Is growing near just take my hand
Skies grow black
Unholy corpses upon their land

The dead they gather around
Praising the child they found
Possessed, the child small kill
The future is now revealed

Baptized in blood
destined to burn
Baptized in blood
Reborn they'll learn

Baptized in blood
destined to burn
Baptized in blood
Reborn they'll learn

8. TORN TO PIECES

Out to find the truth
Behind the myth of
Man eating man
Finding bodies tied
Up to a stake
You cannot understand

Filled with ignorance
You watch them eat your friends
Ask for evidence
A hook right through your tits

Torn to pieces
Torn to pieces
Torn to pieces
Torn to pieces

Trying to escape
They torture you by
Cutting off your cock
When you're dead
They'll feast upon your flesh
Your brains they'll
Eat and chop

Pray if you want
Pathetic rancid cunt
Face reality
Death your final plea

Torn to pieces
Torn to pieces
Torn to pieces
Torn to pieces

Torn to pieces
Torn to pieces
Torn to pieces
Torn to pieces

9. EVIL DEAD

Trapped inside a life which is not yours
Spirits within causing terror, fear and darkness

Evil dead
Evil dead

Voice speaks out, all will die tonight
Insanity fills your mind, you hear them calling

Evil dead
Evil dead

Covered in blood, all hope is lost
Forever to rot, controlled by the powers of the

Evil dead
Evil dead

10. SCREAM BLOODY GORE

Decapitated head licking your cunt
Sucking all the blood from your stump
Intestinal guts taking their hold
Leaving you dead, stiff and cold

Controlling the minds of the bloodthirsty dead
Unholy seizure slicing through your head
Who will survive only time will tell
Dripping from your mouth comes a rancid smell
Labotomized corpse shredding your flesh
Leaving your body a bloody mess

Scream bloody gore
Scream bloody gore

Inject the reborn terror, blood comes spurting out
Another to control add it to the count
Orders to destroy, rip and tear apart
Wishing for the end, your death is just the start

Controlling the minds of the bloodthirsty dead
Unholy seizure slicing through your head
Who will survive only time will tell
Dripping from your mouth comes a rancid smell
Labotomized corpse shredding your flesh
Leaving your body a bloody mess

Scream bloody gore
Scream bloody gore

Armies of the dead
Hail their leader's head
Hungry for the flesh
While it's warm and fresh

Through the smoke wind will see
Who will come out alive
Now it's your turn to feel the pain
Now it's your turn to die

DEATH-THE PHILOSOPHER

Do you feel what I feel
see what I see, hear what I
hear, there is a line you must
draw between your dream
world and reality.
Do you live my life or share
the breath I breathe.
Lies feed your judgement of
others.
Behold how the blind lead
each other.
The philosopher.
You know so much about
nothing at all.

Ideas that fall under shadows
of theories that stand tall.
Thoughts that grow narrow
upon being verbally released.
Your mind is not your own,
what sounds more mentally
stimulating is how you make
your choice.
So you preach about how I'm
supposed to be, yet you don't
know your own sexuality.
Lies feed your judgement of
others.
Behold how the blind lead
each other.
The philosopher.
You know so much about
nothing at all.

DEATH-LOCK OF COMPREHENSION

A condemming fear strikes down
Things they cannot understand
An excuse to cover up weaknesses that lie within
Lies
Laying your guilt and pain
On people that had no part in the molding of a life
That creates its destruction
Lies
Right before your very eyes
A reflections of the mistakes
To the end you will deny
Your part in the demise of a life
Lack of Comprehension
Thriving on your cliché
Compelled by self-resentment

Reaching into the minds of those that created
The depression in which they
In which they drowned their flesh and blood
Lies
So easy to blame the
Everlasting fear on a pathetic attempt
To justify the ending of life
Lies
Right before your very eyes
A reflections of the mistakes
To the end you will deny
Your part in the end of a life
Lack of Comprehension
Thriving on your cliché
Compelled by self-resentment

DEATH- SPIRIT CRUSHER

It comes from the depths
Of a place unknown to the
Keeper of dreams
If it could then it would steal
The sun and the moon from the sky
Beware

Human at sight, monster at heart
Don't let it inside it could
Tear you right apart

No guilt, it feeds in plain sight
Spirit crusher
Stay strong and hold on tight
Spirit crusher

Speaking in killing words
The vicious kind that crush and kill
No mercy, its pleasure to taste
The blood that it bled

When it's time to feed to fulfill
The need to consume a breath
Some will rise standing tall
Breathing out all the breath from
The voice of a soul

Human at sight, monster at heart
Don't let it inside it could
Tear you right apart

No guilt, it feeds in plain sight
Spirit crusher
Stay strong and hold on tight
Spirit crusher

Speaking in killing words
The vicious kind that crush and kill
No mercy, its pleasure to taste
The blood that it bled

DIMMU BORGIR

Progenies Of The Great Apocalypse

The battle raged on and on
Fuelled by the venom of hatred for man
Consistently, without the eyes to see
By those who revel in sewer equally

We, the prosperity of the future seal
Cloaked by the thunders of the north wind
Born to capture the essence of
The trails of our kind

Zero tolerance must be issued forth
Behind the enemy's line
So it shall be written
And so it shall be done

[repeat 1st and 2nd verse]

Discover and conceive the secret wealth
And pass it unto your breed
Become your own congregation
Measure the sovereignty of it's invigoration

We, who not deny the animal of our nature
We, who yearn to preserve our liberation
We, who face darkness in our hearts with a solemn fire
We, who aspire to the truth and pursue it's strength

Are we not the undisputed prodigy of warfare
Fearing all the mediocrity that they possess
Should we not hunt the bastards down with our might
Reinforce and claim the throne that is rightfully ours

Consider the god we could be without the grace
Once and for all
Diminish the sub principle and leave it's toxic trace
Once and for all

[Music by Mustis]
[Lyrics by Silenoz]

3. Lepers Among Us

Annihilate!
The commotion breeding the perverse
For bloodbath is on your doorstep
A mass impending threat
The perfection of religion
Becoming our death

Do not respond blindly
To growing gardens in decay
Stand guard when visitors fall silent
Blow the candles out, end the road here

No solace will be found
Within elements of the tribe
When covered with filth from all sides
Compassion will fail

Their promises are honored
In a mind controlled state
The absence of reality, reason and logic
Prove failure of faith

Enriched by the presence of it's clarity
Darkness descends, everyone dies

[repeat 3rd and 4th verse]

For wisdom aligns in our favor
Illuminated before our eyes

Uncover!
A new beginning, the inevitable dawn
Justice will be given where justice is due
And guide the righteous ones
Back to the final resting ground
To perceive the truly hellbound

Demonstrate superiority
A grand gesture of liberation need no judge or jury
Demons rate inferiority
Scatter the remains of the prey

[repeat 2nd and 7th verse]

[Music by Galder/Silenoz/Shagrath]
[Lyrics by Silenoz]

Sorgens Kammer / Sorgens Kammer - Del II

[Sorgens Kammer]

[Instrumental]

[Sorgens Kammer - Del II (released on "Stormblĺst"'s re-release (2005)]

Minnenes ekko stiller timen
Men endelig fĺ lengselens slukket - Etter ĺ dra

Repet strammer rundt min nakke

Stumme viner kan ei gi trřst
Menigmann i gravkorets forsamling vil aldri fatte

Behersket siden tidens morgen
Men noe jeg aldri lot slippe taket - Var sorgen

[English translation:]

[Chambers Of Sorrow Part II]

The echoes of silence sets the hour.
Gagged in the chains of "depression", I fall away.
No more I will be bolted fast in the anchor of "melancholy".
But finally get my longing "fulfilled" - for leaving.

Did I drink too much from the goblet of "lifehope"?
Did I take the vanity of joy for granted?
For my battle against the pain of emptiness - this intoxication of the angst of death,
Is all that is left... that is mine.

In my loneliness I still know,
That I have none to thank but myself.
This is why I remain calm,
As the rope is tightening around my neck.

Silent witnesses can not give comfort.
The ordinary man in the assembly of the "gravechoir".
Tha land of perdition
I created by my own hands.

This intense attraction to the portals of death
(I have as) A wandering study of tearful messe-noir.
Controlled since the dawning of time,
But something I never would let go.. was the sorrow.

Mourning Palace

Daylight has finally reached it's end
As evenfall strikes into the sky
Far away in the dark glimpsing moonlight
Sickening souls cry out in pain

Whispering voices summoning screams
Waiting for Satan to bless their sins
Blackhearted angels fallen from grace
Possessed by the search for utter darkness

Hear the cries from the Mourning Palace
Feel the gloom of restless spirits
Hear the screams from the Mouring Palace
Feel the doom of haunting chants

Eternal is their lives in misery
Eternal is their lives in grief
Abandoned in a void of nothingness
A chain of anger, a fetter of despair

In this garden of depraved beings
This unsacred place of helpless ones
Satan blessed the creatures
Inswathed them in endless night

Whispering voices, summoning screams
Waiting for Satan to bless their sins
Blackhearted angels fallen from grace
Possessed by the search for utter darkness

SATYRICON

Fuel For Hatred

Scornful, relentless memory
Ripped of all but drive
Undressed by betrayal
Zero tolerance for the souldead
Wish I was the violence,
Inflicted upon you

Fuel for Hatred, air raid siren to mankind

Little you,
Still like a claw in my eye
Pulsating organic rage
I should have let you off of the hook
Mind drifts
Into dynamic pain
Universal onslaught
I'm on my own (One soul, one hate)

Fuel for Hatred, air raid siren to mankind

Damnation, holocaust
Devil horns for you to ride
Time for the angel
To spread his wings and fly
World opponent,
Wishmaster of gruesome pain
Stormtroops' frantic fury,
Demoniac spitfire!

Abortion of religious life, distinguish the rot
I hate you
To a level of intoxication
Don't feel alone,
I've got enough
I wish you slow death,
Slow death by grinding

Fuel for Hatred, air raid siren to mankind

Mother North

Mother north - how can they sleep while their beds are burning?
Mother north - your fields are bleeding

Memories... The invisible wounds
Pictures that enshrine your throne (gone?)

A Future benighted still they are blind
Pigeonhearted beings of flesh and blood
Keeps closing their eyes for the dangers that threat... ourselves and our nature
And that is why
They all enrage me

Sometimes in the dead of the night I mesmerize my soul
Sights and visions prophecies and horror
They all come in one

Mother north - united we stand (together we walk)
Phantom north - I'll be there when you hunt them down

IMMORTAL

At The Heart Of Winter

[Music: Abbath - Lyrics: Demonaz]

Greatest Blashyrkh wait for me your deepest realms i'll find
with songs that sound eternally for you my call is ever so strong...
Winterlandscapes pure and clear a walk into the glacial valleys
deep under forests alive only my torches fire light...

Greatest Blashyrkh waiting me your realms ever splended
songs were made eternally the call is ever so strong...
Blashyrkh mighty be your name victorious a kingdom we made
with strength and pride all the way you are at the heart of winter

As the face of glacier your mountains tower against the sunset
unforgetting what was made a bond so strong and ever so real...
The statue watches the kingdom your giant wings make all beneath
i'm staring forth the raventhrone I know i'm at the heart of winter...

AMON AMARTH

Death In Fire

The wait is soon at end
Always charge never bend
Morning is here, make your stand
Live for honor, glory, death in fire!

Total war is here
Face it without fear
Age of sword, age of spear
Fight for honor, glory, death in fire!

See the fire rise
Flames are raging high
Soon all will burn and die
Burn for honor, glory, death in fire!

Storm of lethal flames
Only death remains
Ragnarok is closing in
Die for honor, glory, death in fire!

Forces of chaos is on the move
Everyone, choose your side
And know the end is coming soon
The day for all to die

The day is here when Bifrost breaks
Nor sun or moon will rise
When the dead rise from their graves
and Surtur spreads his fire

All you know will wither away
And sink into the sea
A new world will be born one day
Where everyone is free

[Lead Sćderberg]

Total war is here, face it without fear
Age of sword, age of spear
Fight for honor, glory, death in fire!

Storm of lethal flames
Only death remains - Ragnar?k is our fate
Die for honor, die for glory
Die, death in fire!

EMPEROR

I am the Black Wizards

[6:16]

Mightiest am I,
but I am not alone in this cosmos of mine.
For the black hills consists of black souls,
souls that already dies one thousand deaths.
Behind the stone walls (of centuries) they breed their black art.
Boiling their spells in cauldrons of black gold.

Far up in the mountains,
where the rain fall not far,
yet the Sun cannot reach.
The wizards, my servants,

summon the souls of macrocosm.
No age will escape my wrath.
I travel through time and I return to the future.
I gather wisdom now lost.
I visit again the eternally ancient caves,
before a mighty Emperor thereupon came.
Watching the mortals "discovering" my chronicles, guarded
by the old demons, even unknown to me.

Once destroyed their souls are being summoned
to my timeless prison of hate.
It is delightful to feast upon the screaming souls
that were destroyed in my future.

How many wizards that serve me with evil, I know not.
My empires has no limits.

From the never ending mountains black, to the bottomless lakes.
I am the ruler and has been for eternities long.
I am them.

(I am them.)
(I am them.)

From the never ending mountains black, to the bottomless lakes.
I am the ruler and has been for eternities long.
My wizards are many, but their essence is mine.
Forever they are in the hills in their stone homes of grief.
Because I am the spirit of their existence.
I am them.

I am them.
I am them.

Wrath of the Tyrant

[Originally released in 1992 on the demo album "Wrath of the Tyrant".]
[Re-recorded.]

[3:56]

The wolves bark with wind in summertime.
As the moon passes the shadows. It was a grim tale.
The wolves pry the limbs from the conquered ones.

Carnage consumes the emptiness.
Wait till my spirits come forth.
Violate all his chosen ones.
Drink the fires of death.

Carrying the deaths of his fallen warriors
deep inside of him, in his eyes.
Walk upon this Earth tonight,
carrying the staff of cold souls.

Appear the sign of evil will.

They appear, Death and Destruction,
to a time (when) the angel cries.
Open your eyes again now, he is here.
He is the master of fear.

He is the wind, He is the storm.
He is the woods, He is the roots.
Nobody will escape the wrath of the Tyrant.
Forever the Beast shall wander the Earth.

......BLACK LABEL SOCIETY......

ZAKK WYLDE

"The sole purpose of this whole fucking album is to kill bands like Third Eye fucking Blind and all those cheesy-ass fucking boy bands. Let me see, who else can we put on that Shit list? Who's that other fucking crap band? Blink 182. Blink 182's gotta fucking go! Put it this way, you know how Black Flag kills roaches dead? Well, Black Label kills fucking cheese pop bands dead!"
That's Zakk and that's always been Zakk. Trash-talking axeman to the stars (just ask Ozzy, the Allman Brothers band and Guns -n- Roses) big, brash, blues-based metalhead, cooler than you, Stronger Than Death. Stronger Than Death, indeed, which happens to be the name of Zakk's self-produced, second album under the alcohol-fueled moniker Black Label Society.

Zakk plays bass, piano, a snarling mean guitar and sings his whiskey-soaked liver off. His buddy, Philth Ondich "mashes" the drums and is also responsible for the resplendent tattoo artwork throughout the cd booklet. "Beer is basically the whole philosophy of BLS," explains Professor Wylde. "When you are in search of an answer, just drink beer and, if you still don't know what the fuck you're thinking about, just drink another one." So a volatile concoction is served, a one-two punch combination that makes for black -n- blue classic metal, a craft Zakk practices with grace, guts and unswerving integrity. Taking fully two months to construct this soulful, power-chorded banquet, double the duration of the band's wicked debut from '98.

But the pleasure is all his. "To be honest with you, I've never had a bad experience making a record," reflects a basically optimistic Zakk. "If you're doing what you love, it's not a job. I mean, how could it be bad? As long as I'm not swinging a fucking hammer doing construction, like I used to. Fuck that! As long as I can keep a roof over my family's head and the refrigerator full of beer, I'm good to go."

Stronger Than Death is definitely good to go. Wind it up, then stand back and watch the blue smoke and burning black rubber. Pounders like "All For You" (Zakk calls it "your basic, morbid, riff-driven love song"), "Phoney Smiles, Fake Hellos", "Counterfeit God" (we may want to add something about this tune, it will be the first single) and paean to Zakk's Rottweiler "Superterrorizer" recall the thicker, more malevolent grooves from the man's work with Ozzy on "No Rest for the Wicked" and "No More Tears". Chase with a liberal shot of Sabbath-dark doom, a trace of industrial, and a blast of southern rock and you've got a mean mutha of a metal record. "I guess Pride & Glory is beer music and Black Label Society is fucking hard alcohol," offers Zakk, comparing his latest band to his well-received Pride & Glory album he and his bad ass mates made back in '94. Undeniably, the Ozzy comparisons seem entirely plausible "Of course, I'm the one who wrote those riffs. Ozzy and Sabbath, that's the stuff I was weaned on. That's how I learned to play."

It's not all hammer and nail though, Zakk makes sure to put his mournful, deep soulful singing voice to good use. A phenomenon most evident on gray-skied ballads, "Just Killing Time" ("about facing your own mortality"} and "Rust" ("a tune I wrote for my wife"). With respect to this voice of his, one you don't expect out of a man famous for his six-string fireworks, Zakk figures that it suits the blues vibe of his music and that of his traditional rock forefathers. "The majority of the songs have to have a groove, know what I mean?" It all comes from the riffs but yes, there is that bluesy influence from The Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, that side of things. I listen to everything but vocally, some of the guys that I look up to are Elton John, Gregg Allman, Ozzy, Ray Charles and Ronnie VanZant"

Ironically, "Rust" contains one of Zakk's favorite solos on the album and it is quite the ripping break for such an introspective piece. The composition is obvious, something that comes from studying the unsung greats of the discipline. "The guitarists I listen to are Frank Marino, Robin Trower, Al DiMeola. I mean, at the end of the day, I'm a musician*.not a rock star. I listen to Neil Young as much as I do Pantera. I just try to see how far I can take a pentatonic scale (laughs). I do more or less compose my guitar solos. I do think about them. Like the one in "Counterfeit God", I'll take the backing track and sit in the garage with a fucking case of beer until I get something I'm happy with. Just so it has structure, you know? So it doesn't sound like I'm just bullshitting."

Other crowning moments on Stronger Than Death include "13 Years of Grief", which finds Zakk exploiting his vast repertoire of axe textures to a venom-spit lyric about supposedly tough teens. "I wrote that song about these punk-ass kids I saw on a talk show. They had these kids on there that thought they were hard-asses. One of these kids beat his mother repeatedly. Anyway, these kids had to go to jail or to a correctional facility. They're all "Bring it on man, I'm not afraid". As soon as they got to jail they shit their pants." "Ain't Life Grand" finds Zakk in similar terrain, grinding shocking metal heft, layering carnal axe upon screech, creating alchemy between his slow grooves and his foggy pipes. "Lyrically, it's just about life in general. It's just about how people idolize things were so much better in the old days. But its still the same. Same face, different name." Oddly enough, the most Sabbath-soaked track on the album is the closer "Love Reign Down", a song Zakk says he "wrote about my mother". Methodically bashing the record to a close, "Love Reign Down" is a punishing example of Zakk's inherent dark metal sense. A characteristic that becomes rich, convincing and timeless when stitched to the man's reverence for traditional country and blues rock.

But despite Zakk's denial of rock star tendencies, Mr. Wylde lives life to the fullest. Don't expect him to rest on the laurels of a mighty sledge of a record. There is undoubtedly touring, which will start in Europe and Japan and go to America. Zakk is also "a British beer-guzzling, guitar hero" in the Warner Bros. feature film "Metal God" starring Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Aniston. Based loosely on the life of Judas Priest's Ripper Owens, Zakk also created the soundtrack album. In addition, Zakk doesn't rule out more acoustic albums similar to his gorgeous, heartfelt and surprising Book Of Shadows from 1996. A live album is also set to be recorded during the upcoming Japan tour. Then again, Ozzy and Zakk are talking about Zakk and the Ozzman writing another record together, quite possibly Ozzy's next one for late 2000. "I plan on doing it All. Black Label Society, Ozzy, films, and soundtracks. I'll rest when I'm dead."

Even if music courses through the veins of this multi-talented platinum axeman, it competes cell and molecule with the brown elixir of life. "I'm working on brewing my own beer commercially. Oh yeah. That's going to be the next thing. I'm going to have my own Black Label fucking micro-brewing company. Sammy Hagar is the tequila guy. I'm the beer guy."

BIOGRAFIJA

Zakk Wylde was born Jeffery Philip Wielandt to a Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Wielandt on January 14, 1967 in Bayonne and raised in Jackson, New Jersey. He also has a sister, Amy. Zakk was given the nickname “Flip,” short for his middle name Phillip, by his dad. This is what friends and family called him. Zakk began guitar at the age of eight, only to quit a short time after due to lack of interest. Zakk then attended Jackson Memorial High School were he then picked up the guitar again at age 14. He began taking lessons from his high school football coach’s son, LeRoy Wright. And later studied classical guitar with a guy from Freehold, NJ, and later with a guy in Manhattan. Zakk formed his first band “ Stone Henge” playing songs at parties like Ozzy’s “Bark at the Moon” and other songs by Black Sabbath and Rush. It was at that time when Zakk started dating a classmate named Barbaranne Caterina, who would later become his wife.

After graduating from Jackson Memorial High School in 1985 at the age of 18, Zakk was working at a local supermarket, doing roofing, working at Silverton Music, and playing in various bands. That’s when Zakk began to write originals and joined a band called “Zyris” replacing guitarist Dave Linsk who left to form his own band and is currently playing for Overkill. Upon joining Zyris is when he started calling himself Zakari Wyland. He got the name from the TV show Lost In Space’s character Dr. Zachary Smith. Zyris played original material as well as covers by their favorite bands, like: Black Sabbath & Led Zeppelin. It was at that time Zakk gave guitar lessons in Jackson, New Jersey. Zyris played some, but not many gigs in the southern Jersey area. Many believed they toured up and down the whole eastern coast of Jersey, but that is not true, though they did get a special gig at the infamous “Stone Pony” made popular by Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi.

Hearing on the Howard Stern Show that Ozzy would be auditioning unknown guitarists, Zakk never thought it to be more than a fantasy. At one Zyris show Zakk was discovered playing by rock photographers Mark Weiss and Dave Feld. Amazed at Zakk’s playing, Dave confronted Zakk, and mentioned that Ozzy was looking for a new guitarist and that they would pass along a press kit. Zakk got the audition with Ozzy. He took the audition figuring, “Well I’m only working at a gas station, what do I got to lose?!” During the audition Zakk played a few Ozzy songs and some acoustic and classical stuff. After the audition he returned home thinking he didn’t get the job. One day he received a phone call from Sharon Osbourne asking if he would join the band.

Zakk had joined up with Ozzy at the age of 20, in May of 1987. It was then he was given the last name “Wylde”, which he was called for obvious reasons. Ozzy introduced Zakk as his new guitarist at the Hard Rock Café in New York City, on Dec.15, 1987. Zakk Wylde made his debut with Ozzy Osbourne on album in 1988 with "No Rest For The Wicked." Zakk quickly became a big name in the guitarist community, due to his instantly recognizable guitar sound and style.

In 1989, Zakk got to tour the world playing guitar for Ozzy. He basically went from an unknown kid playing small clubs in New Jersey, to playing huge arenas. Ozzy and his band were booked to play the Moscow Peace Festival during the summer of 1989, along with Skid Row, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, and the Scorpions, among many other bands. The live E.P. "Just Say Ozzy" was released in 1989. It featured Ozzy, Zakk, Geezer Butler, and Randy Castillo playing three No Rest For The Wicked tunes, a version of the Jake E. Lee penned song "Shot In The Dark" from The Ultimate Sin, which is universally recognized as way better than the studio version, and two Black Sabbath classics, "War Pigs," and "Sweet Leaf."

In 1990, Ozzy, Zakk, Randy, and Bob Daisley & Mike Inez recorded No More Tears, the second studio release in which Zakk appears on. No More Tears is generally regarded as one of Zakk's best performances. From the mega-hit title track with the amazingly breathtaking solo, to the thunderous Mr. Tinkertrain, and the mellow acoustic ballad Mama, I'm Coming Home, the album was perfectly balanced. Zakk's style changed a lot from No Rest For The Wicked until No More Tears. There is more of a southern rock style "chickin' pickin'" element to his playing that was virtually nonexistant on most of No Rest.

The tour for No More Tears, aptly titled "No More Tours" was billed to be Ozzy's final farewell tour. He was in the best shape he had been in in years, completely sober (except for a pill-popping problem that was not known by the public at the time), eating healthy, excersizing, and boxing, etc. Ozzy's voice was in top condition, he was moving around and jumping onstage more than he ever had. The energy was there. Zakk, Mike, and Randy clicked perfectly. Many beleive this to be Ozzy's best line-up to date. The band went back into the studio during the tour to record a few new studio tracks that were to be included as bonus tracks to the live album they were going to release. The studio tracks that were recorded, "Aimee," and "See You On The Other Side," one of which containing Jeff Scott Soto (of Yngwie Malmsteen fame) on backing vocals. More tracks are beleived to be recorded back then, but no titles are available. Unfortunatly, the songs were not released on Live & Loud, and as a matter of fact, those 1992 versions of the songs have never been released. Live & Loud was a double disc set of live recordings from Ozzy's supposed final tour. Zakk formed a band called Lynyrd Skynhead with James Lomenzo and Greg DeAngelo of White Lion fame in 1992 while he was still with Ozzy. They jammed a bunch of classic rock and southern rock tunes from bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Bros, ZZ Top, and Mountain. This lineup recorded the track "Farm Fiddlin'" which appeared on the "Guitars That Rule The World Vol. 1" compilation album, which is now out of print.

On August 1st, 1993, Zakk Wylde got to fill-in for Dickey Betts in the Allman Bros. Band for a show. This show is heavily bootlegged and is an amazing show. Everytime someone mentions Zakk Wylde's numerous bands, the Allmans are always brought up, but in actuality, he only did one show with them.

Greg DeAngelo was replaced by a much better drummer, Brian Tichy in 1994, and the band name was changed to Pride & Glory. Pride & Glory released their self-titled debut (and also final) album in 1994 on Geffen Records. Zakk made an appearance on Headbangers' Ball in 1994 by himself and performed the Pride & Glory song "Machine Gun Man." Pride & Glory, a potent mix of country, southern rock, blues, and heavy metal acheived limited success, although touring with the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aerosmith, Ted Nugent, and Whitesnake. James Lomenzo left the band in November 1994 after a tour of Japan. There was only a 3 day gap before a US Fall tour began, and Zakk found a replacement for James, his long-time friend J.D. Pride & Glory played their final show on December 10th, 1994 in Los Angeles. Slash of Guns N Roses appeared at this show and jammed "Voodoo Chile" and "Red House" with the band. A live album was supposedly recorded and intended for release, but it was scrapped. But the next best thing to a live album, asoundboard recording of one of Pride & Glory's final shows which was recorded on the last Japanese tour is now heavily bootlegged as "Fadin' Away."
In 1995, Ozzy came out of retirement and recruited Zakk, Geezer Butler, and Deen Castronovo to record his next album. Ozzmosis came out in 1995, which featured the pounding leadoff single "Perry Mason." Zakk did not write every single track on the album, though. One of the tracks was written by Steve Vai ("My Little Man"), and several others by different people. The songs "Aimee" and "See You On The Other Side" we re-recorded for Ozzmosis. "Aimee" was released as a B-side track, but was recently added to the 2002 remaster of the album. During the recording from Ozzmosis, Zakk used to go to a restaurant called Brew's in New York after a full day in the studio and jam some stuff he was writing but was unable to use on Ozzmosis, due to obvious reasons. According to Kieran Brew, Zakk would come in around 3:30 a.m. when few people remained in the restaurant, and would sing and play guitar. Brew's became the proving grounds for the material that would later become "Book of Shadows".

It was during this time that Zakk began jamming with a few of the guys from Guns N Roses. Several songs were demoed with the band, including a song with an early version of the riff for "The Rose Petalled Garden." Zakk was torn between joining Guns N Roses, and touring with Ozzy. He waited too long, and Ozzy eventually hired a guitarist by the name of Joe Holmes for the Ozzmosis tour. Zakk received a message from Guns N Roses that his services would not be needed.
Also, around this time Geffen Records was wanting a new album from Zakk. He decided to record and release all of the excess material that he had laying around, which became "Book Of Shadows" Zakk called up former Pride & Glory bassist and asked him to play on the album, and Joe Vitale, veteran drummer from Joe Walsh and Crosby, Stills & Nash was recruited to play on the album as well. "Book Of Shadows" was released in 1996 on Geffen Records.

Nick Catanese, a guitarist from Pittsburg emailed Zakk enquiring on whether he needed another guitarist or not, and he actually got the job playing backing guitar for Zakk on the B.O.S. tour. Zakk started jamming an unreleased song live in 1997 called "Spoke In The Wheel. "During this tour, a drummer by the name of Phil Ondich met Zakk in California. Towards the end of the tour in Roanoke, Virginia, Phil met Zakk a second time and gave him a tape of him playing with a a band called Raging Slab. Outside of a radio station there in Roanoke, Zakk jammed a new song on acoustic called "Beneath The Tree." Phil kept time for Zakk by patting his hands on his legs loudly. A recording exists of this rare performance, but it has never seen the light of day.

Zakk did a solo electric Japan tour in the Fall of 1997 with Nick on rhythm guitar, Ian Mayo on bass, and Brock Avery on drums. A pro-shot video exists of one of these performances called "Rock Around The Bay '97." Zakk also performed at the Jason Becker Benefit on November 17th, 1997.

On January 31, 1998, the original Pride & Glory band reunited for a one-off reunion show at the Whiskey in Hollywood, CA. This momentous occasion was beleived to be bootlegged, but no video has turned up anywhere.
Zakk Wylde, Mike Inez, and Randy Castillo, the No More Tears band, were rehired by Ozzy Osbourne in early 1998 for a tour in New Zealand, Australia, and Japan. Mysteriously, the entire band was let go without reason by the Ozzy camp after they got back from Japan. They were supposed to play Ozzfest '98 in the US, but this never happened. Zakk went to Italy in early May 1998 to do a one-off show by himself, and then he called up Phil Ondich (due to Nick Catanese recommending him as the drummer to use...) and what became Sonic Brew was recorded in May 1998 in Miama, FL. Zakk loved the lyrics on the song "Beneath The Tree" that he had jammed with Phil in Roanoke the previous year, so he wrote a new song and kept the lyrics for it. This haunting song was recorded during a huge thunderstorm, and it was eerie as hell. You can tell that the creepy feel of the song was most-likely inspired by the setting in the studio that night. Zakk and Phil decided to call the band "Hell's Kitchen" and the album was to be called "Sonic Brewery." Phil designed all of the artwork and layed out the booklet for the album. But, after a few weeks, it was decided that they were changing the band name to Black Label Society, because they were unable to get a trademark for the Hell's Kitchen moniker. The front and back artwork for the album had to be changed, but the inside booklet was kept almost exactly the same. If you look, all of the art inside the booklet is set up like a kitchen menu. Hilarious liner notes and artwork (a devil devouring a chef, etc) fill the booklet, and if you replace the word "society" with the word "kitchen" in a lot of the liner notes, it makes a lot more sense; such as, "its the height of bad manners to hieve in somebody else's kitchen" makes much more sense than "somebody else's society."

Sonic Brew was released in Japan on October 28th, 1998. It contained 13 tracks ("Lost My Better Half" and "No More Tears 2000" did not exist yet), an awesome album cover that was printed on clear plastic, with a seperate paper booklet. The back cover was printed with golden ink, and the packaging was, overall, a lot better than the USA version ended up. There was a long delay for the USA album release, because everyone collectively decided that it needed remixed. The drums & vocals were buried on some of the tracks towards the end of the disc, so it was decided to remix it for the US release. Zakk and Phil decided to give the USA an extra bonus track for the album, and went to the studio in California and recorded "Lost My Better Half" as a one-off bonus track for the album. It was Zakk's heaviest song to date. Sonic Brew was finally released on May 4th, 1999.

The band needed a bass player, so Zakk put out an ad in all guitar magazines: "Looking for a bassist. Preferably a guitarist who's willing to play bass. Fender P Bass preferred. Mid/Late 20's, early 30's. CRUSHINGLY HEAVY. If you don't dig Cliff Burton don't bother replying." Evidently, finding an unknown bassist didn't work out, because Zakk ended up hiring his long-time friend and former P&G replacement bassist J.D. as BLS' bass player. Black Label Society's lineup was now complete. Zakk, Nick, J.D., and Philth.

BLS performed their first ever show in Japan on May 1st, 1999 at Club Quattro, Shibuya Tokyo. On the final Japanese date of that tour, Stephen Pearcy, lead (out of key) singer of the washed-up '80's band Ratt joined BLS onstage for an encore of Black Sabbath's "Paranoid." After the Japanese tour, BLS went to Europe for a tour, playing for what was probably their largest crowd they've played before and since, Dynamo Open Air '99.

After the European tour, the American tour dates that were scheduled all got cancelled, and there was a wait before the US tour. A rumor was put out that said that Phil had broken his arm while jet-skiing; this was a completely untrue rumor. As a matter of fact, Phil doesn't even jet-ski. Around the same time, the Johnny Walker whisky company issued a cease and desist order to Zakk on the album cover, which looked just like a bottle of Johnny Walker's black label whisky. The band decided to reissue the album with a different album cover, and as an added incentive, they wanted to record a bonus track for the fans who wanted to buy the new version of the album. Zakk, Phil, and Mike Inez recorded the song "No More Tears 2000" as a bonus track. The reissue of the album could be bought at merchandise stands on the tour before it could be found in stores. A guitar pick was inside of the early pressings of the reissue as an added bonus to those who got it early. Black Label Society finally kicked off their tour of the US in mid September 1999, with the band Loudmouth opening for them for many of the dates. They played most of the songs from Sonic Brew, a few Pride & Glory songs, and at a few shows, they covered "Miracle Man" by Ozzy. The tour was wrapped up without a hitch.
In the winter of 1999/2000, Zakk and Philth headed to the studio in California to cut their sophmore effort "Stronger Than Death." Mike Piazza, catcher for the NY Mets was hanging with them in the studio, and recorded backing vocals/growls on the title track. Axl Rose was actually in the studio next to theirs and hung out with them on several occasions, but no collaboration occured. Phil did all of the artwork yet again on the album. Stronger Than Death was released in Japan on March 8th 2000, and in the United States on April 18th 2000. J.D. decided to leave the band to persue other interests, and he was replaced by Steve "S.O.B." Gibb, son of Berry Gibb from the BeeGees. Black Label Society kicked off the Penchant For Violence tour in Japan on June 14th, 2000. The band was playing new songs from Stronger Than Death, songs from Sonic Brew, and an amazing cover of Ozzy's "Demon Alcohol."

After the Japanese tour ended on June 21st, the US tour began right away and there was no break. The entire band came back from Japan sick. The first show was June 23rd, to a packed crowd at The Sun Theater in Anaheim. About 5 songs into the set, Phil collapsed from his kit due to his stomach flu and exhaustion. Craig Nunenmacher of the band Crowbar (who were touring with BLS) came back on stage and played a few Sabbath songs with BLS, and the show ended. The next 2 shows were cancelled, and then the band returned, playing what some say were their best shows to date. When BLS got to Indiana on July 6th, 2000, about 3 songs into the set, there was a brawl on stage between Zakk and Phil, and Phil was fired from the band. They did a few Sabbath songs with Craig on drums again, and he replaced Phil as BLS' drummer from that point on.

"Alcohol Fueled Brewtality Live", BLS' live album was recorded in October of 2000, and was released on January 16th, 2001. Black Label Society was added to Ozzfest 2001 that summer as the main stage opener. Superterrorizer was recorded at one of the Ozzfest shows and added to the live Ozzfest 2001 cd; the track featured an intro which later became the song "Battering Ram." Steve Gibb left the band mid-Ozzfest tour, and was replaced by former Ozzy/Alice In Chains bassist Mike Inez. Mike Inez had to fly back to California because he had obligations with another band, and the bass tech, Frey Theiler filled in on a few dates towards the end of Ozzfest.

During Ozzfest, Zakk recorded a few demos with a guy by the name of Christian Werr on drums, to show Ozzy, for possible inclusion on Ozzy's next album. Ozzy rejected these tunes, so Zakk kept them for the next BLS album. The demos that were recorded were "Bleed For Me," "Life/Birth/Blood/Doom," "Demise Of Sanity," an alternate piano version of "Bridge To Cross," and a demo with an unknown title. The latter two tracks were never released. Robert Trujillo, who played bass with Zakk in Ozzy's band, played on "Life/Birth/Blood/Doom" as well.

Zakk recorded a new album with Ozzy in the Summer/Fall of 2001, but did not write any of the tracks for it. "Down To Earth" was released on October 16th, 2001, and Ozzy and Rob Zombie toured together as the "Merry Mayhem" tour. In Ozzy's Far East tour, they recorded a live album, "Live at Budokan" at Japan's world famous Budokan arena on February 14th, 2002.

Somewhere around this time, either before or after the Merry Mayhem tour, Zakk and Craig went into the studio and recorded what became "1919 Eternal." The album was supposed to be called "Deathcore Warmachine Eternal" but the title was changed in light of the tragic events of September 11th. The album was released on March 5th, 2002.

Black Label Society toured mainstage on all of of Ozzfest 2002, with Robert Trujillo, also Ozzy's bassist, playing bass for them. Both Zakk and Robert played double duty in BLS and Ozzy's band. The tour was highly successful, despite the European trek being cut short due to Zakk suffering exhaustion and fatigue and being sent home, several cancelled dates, and several "No-Ozzy Ozzfests" (Ozzy missing two shows because of Sharon Osbourne having Chemotherapy). Black Label Society got more publicity on this tour than they ever have, and they were recieved really well by the Ozzfest crowd. Zakk Wylde joined SOiL onstage and recorded a version of their song "Halo" which was released on the Ozzfest 2002 compilation cd on September 3rd.

BLS did a short two-week tour after Ozzfest, with the band Brand New Sin opening for them, and doing on festival show with Disturbed. Their show at Harpo's in Detroit was filmed for a live DVD which would be released August 12, 2003. Zakk and Craig went back into the studio in the fall & winter of 2002 to record the next Black Label Society album, entitled "The Blessed Hellride" which was released April 22, 2003. The first single off of the album was "Stillborn" and featured Ozzy on vocals. The track went to #1 on many radio stations across the USA and was definitely a big break for the band. The video for "Stillborn" was directed by none other than Zakk's friend, Rob Zombie. The band did a short 2 week tour in Japan with Mike Inez on bass before the album was released, then Zakk went back on tour with Ozzy in Canada. After the Canadian tour, Zakk and Nick went out to a few acoustic radio shows in Philadelphia PA, Allentown PA, and Boston MA. After the mini-tour on the East Coast, Zakk set out to do Ozzfest 2003 with Ozzy again, but this time without Black Label Society.

August 12, 2003, Black Label Society's first DVD is released, entitled "Boozed, Broozed & Broken-Boned" and goes straight to #1 on the charts. In November, Zakks original bullseye, "The Grail" was found at a pawn shop in St. Louis MO and returned to him. There was also a supposed to be a European tour in the winter of 2003, but Ozzy had an unfortunate mishap with an ATV (All-Terrain-Vehicle) breaking broke eight ribs on his left side, a vertebra, his left collarbone, and put him into a coma for a few days. During this time, Zakk and Craig went into the studio to record the 6th Black Label Society album released on April 20th 2004 entitled, "Hangover Music Vol. VI" Afterwards, BLS once again hit the main stage at Ozzfest 2004 with Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Slayer, Dimmu Borgir, and Superjoint Ritual. However, BLS did not support Hangover Music Vol. VI while on Ozzfest. During this time, Ozzy and Sharon were filming "Battle for Ozzfest" where several bands competed against each other in order to get on Ozzfest. Zakk made several appearances on the show during Ozzfest and the BLS colors were in full force.

After Ozzfest, Zakk, Craig, and James Lomenzo hit the studio and recorded "Mafia" which would be the first release on the new label, Artemis Records due out March 8th 2005.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usImage Hosted by ImageShack.usImage Hosted by ImageShack.us

Šesti studijski album Amon Amartha "With Oden On Our Side" ipak nije tipično Amon Amarth ostvarenje.

Puno njima specifičnog headbanginga, testosterona, isklišejiziranih ratničkih elemenata, malo blastbeata, dva amonamarthovska riffa, solidan vokal i opet ta 'catchy' kompozicija.

"Asator" je ipak brutalnija pjesma sličnija nizozemskim death metal bendovima, no malo je iznenađuje da se na albumu pojavljuju i dvije relativno sporije pjesme, a to su "Under A North Star" i "Cry Of The Black Birds". Zanimljivo je koliko Johanov vokal itekako paše sporijim pjesmama i više je nego jasno da bi Amon Amarth možda u budućnosti proizvesti još koju sporiju i osjećajniju pjesmu.

"With Oden On Our Side" bi se mogla lako proglasiti krunom cijelom albuma - epična, s efektnim bubnjevima, te zaraznim tremolo riffovima.

Jer Amon Amarth svi volimo, ma koliko mi šutjeli o tome.

NORDIJSKI VIKING METALCI DOLAZE U BOOGALOO

Švedski death metal vikinzi Amon Amarth dovršili su šesti studijski album, koji će se zvati "With Oden On Our Side".

Popis pjesama:
01. Valhall Awaits Me
02. Runes To My Memory
03. Asator
04. Hermod's Ride To Hel - Lokes Treachery Part 1
05. Gods Of War Arise
06. With Oden On Our Side
07. Cry Of The Black Birds
08. Under The Northern Star
09. Prediction Of Warfare

Deeply rooted in death metal with firm beliefs in Viking mythology, AMON AMARTH formed in 1992 in Tumba, Sweden, a southern suburb of Stockholm. They began writing material with lots of melodies, harmonies and lyrics about Vikings and the northern gods. In summer 1993 they entered Lagret Studio to record the never released demo "Thor Arise". The band continued to rehearse and writing stronger material and again entered the studio. The result was the second demo "The Arrival Of The Fimbul Winter". This time the band was much more satisfied with the sound and songs and launched it to an unsuspecting underground. The response was overwhelming, quickly selling out of the first pressing and secured them a one off deal with Singapore's Pulverised Records.

This time they decided to use Abyss Studio, owned by Peter Tägtgren of Hypocrisy, and during five days in November 1995 the MCD "Sorrow Throughout The Nine Worlds" was recorded. The five track recording contained three new songs plus two re-recorded tracks from the band's second demo. The MCD was released in April 1996 and continued the band's build to world dominance. June 1996 saw the exiting of drummer Nico who was quickly replaced with Martin Lopez. During this time labels began to show interest and after much consideration the band chose to sign with Metal Blade. In March 1997 AMON AMARTH entered again Abyss Studios to record their Metal Blade debut "Once Sent From The Golden Hall" with Peter Tägtgren. The result proved that they were destined to become force of fury in the Swedish Death Metal scene and beyond.
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

After the recording of "Once sent...", guitarist Anders Hansson quit just a month before their first major tour with Deicide, Six Feet Under and Brutal Truth in June 98. They quickly recruited Johan Söderberg to make the line-up complete. The line-up was now solidified. "The Avenger" was recorded at Abyss Studios Sweden February to March 1999. Produced by the band, the seven track album is a lesson in pure Viking aggression and brutality blurring the line between death and black metal. The tour following this release was the X-mas massacre festivals, headlined by Morbid Angel.

In November 2000 the band entered The Abyss Studio for, as it would turn out, the last time. This time they recorded the album "The Crusher" (released in 2001). Living up to it's name, "The Crusher", the album is the most brutal album the band has produced so far. This release gave Amon Amarth the opportunity to tour a lot more than before and right after the recording they went on their first headlining tour through Denmark and Germany with Purgatory and Seirim. That tour ended up with great succes and they also managed to be the first metal band entering the German stages for the century. 00.05, 01 of January in 2001 in Guben. Then they went on the No Mercy Festivals 2001 with bands like Marduk and Vader. In the fall of 2001, AMON AMARTH was supposed to support Marduk on their American tour, but due to the events of September 11th, that tour was postponed until January 2002, and if that wasn't enough, Marduk couldn't make it over to the states. So AMON AMARTH got to headline their very first US tour, supported by Diabolic from Tampa, FL. The tour was a huge success, but unfortunately the tour agency decided to cut the tour short with one week. Returning to Europe, AMON AMARTH was offered the possibility to headline their own full European tour, and in April 2002 they went on the road together with Swedish "gore-masters" Vomitory. During the tour the band kept writing new material for an upcoming album.
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

August 2002 started with the bands second appearance at Wacken Open Air. Approximately 12 000 people saw the show, and the response was overwhelming. Almost going straight from Wacken to the Studio, AMON AMARTH began recording their new album "Versus the World" on August 7th. This time, however, the band had to use a new studio, since Peter no longer produces or records any bands, except his own, in his studio. The choice fell on Berno Studio in Malmö, and it turned out to be a great choice. Berno Studio has a great reputation in the scene and AMON AMARTH found it to be very easy to work with both Berno (owner, engineer) and Henrik (engineer). Recording in a new studio gave new dimensions to the bands sound. During the recording, the band managed to squeeze in a trip to Germany and the Summer Breeze festival, where they made a successful appearance. The new album is set to be released on November 18th, and proves to be a milestone in the bands career.

Varg Vikernes was born Kristian Vikernes on February 11, 1973, outside of Bergen, Norway. Known by the nom de plume Count Grishnackh during the early days of black metal in Norway, Vikernes was the man behind the one-man music project Burzum, and lately has become a prominent voice for Neo-Nazism.

He is currently incarcerated for the 1993 murder of his former friend and member of the black metal-band Mayhem Řystein Aarseth (AKA Euronymous), serving a sentence of 21 years, the maximum possible in Norway. Euronymous published the first Burzum records, though the circumstances surrounding the reason for the murder are not entirely clear. Aarseth no longer had control of Vikernes' material, but Vikernes claims Aarseth had threatened to kill him and that his act was in fact 'premeditated self-defense', which according to his own "Nordic" code of ethics was a perfectly viable reason. According to those who knew both, these claims are probably fictitious. Some say they had an argument about a girl.

Vikernes is a proponent of the Ásatrú religion and believes it is a religion for all Germanic peoples. He helped create the Odalist movement & co-founded the 'All-Germanic Heathen Front' (although he is neither a member nor a leader). He is the author of several short works on his personal weltanschauung, namely 'Vargsmĺl' (lit. 'the speech of Varg'), 'Irminsűl' & 'Germansk Mytologi og Verdensanskuelse'. Vikernes interprets the old lore in a fascistic way and belongs to the leading heads of modern esoteric fascism.

He terminated his musical project that he continued from prison in 2000 due to the 'negative notoriety' which he believed he continually received from it as well as believing he was constantly misunderstood and misinterpreted by an 'ignorant' "fan" base that saw contradictions in either his outlook or how things he has said correlated to his outlook which he assures were never contradictive but simply novel & pervasive.

Vikernes has written lyrics for several songs by the band Darkthrone ("quintessence," "as fittermice as satan's spys" etc) that make use of characteristics from old Germanic folklore. In these, "satan" is brought up in the context of an 'eye' which is a source of light (i.e. the Sun) with mentions of a 'spear,' a 'hall of battle.' All of which are masked references to the Germanic god Odin as he has been identified by the Christian Church. This was done with the double meaning that Vikernes does indeed consider Odin the "Adversary" of Judeo-Christianity as they could understand it. This has been mostly mistaken as 'proving' that Vikernes was at one time a "Satanist" and therefore someone who cannot adhere to one line of thinking, but in fact the case is that he is an artist as well as an ideologue. Vikernes has stated many times that he is entirely opposed to Satanism as he considers it a reactionary form of Christianity.

He was apparently fascinated with the fictional realm of Mordor from The Lord of the Rings, and claimed to have mastered the Black Speech, from which he took the name Burzum. Again this shows a double meaning in that the Christianized perspective of Teutonic sourced myths which J.R.R. Tolkien used in his Lord of the Rings books to create that language made him give the word 'Burz' the meaning "Darkness." When in the old Germanic language of heathen times "Berts" meant 'Bright,' 'Light' or 'Brilliant.' Vikernes was using fiction to empathize the truth on a Jungian archetypal level.

In October 2003 he attempted to escape from jail. After hijacking a car and apparently driving around with no clear plan he was apprehended by the police. He was caught with an Assault rifle, a handheld GPS system and had Military Uniforms/Camouflage clothes with him.

CRADLE OF FILTH-koliko god ljudi srali po ovon bendu, oni ce ostat prst na desnoj ruci black metala...

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Cradle of Filth is a black metal band formed in Suffolk, England in 1991. It has been embraced and disowned with equal fervour by various metal communities, and its particular subgenre has provoked a great deal of discussion (see below). Roughly speaking, the band's sound has gradually evolved from raw, traditional black metal, to a cleaner and more "produced" amalgam of gothic, symphonic and extreme styles, while its lyrical themes and imagery are heavily influenced by gothic literature, poetry, mythology and horror films. The band has successfully broken free of its original niche by courting mainstream publicity (often to the chagrin of its early fanbase), and this increased accessibility has brought coverage by the likes of Kerrang! and MTV, frequent main stage appearances at major festivals such as Ozzfest and Download, and in turn a more commercial image.

Early Years

Cover art for The Principle of Evil Made Flesh by Chris BellCradle's first three years saw four demos recorded amidst the sort of rapid line-up fluctuations that have continued ever since (Cradle has generally had around half a dozen members at any one time, but can boast more than twenty musicians in its history). The band eventually signed to Cacophonous Records and its debut album, The Principle of Evil Made Flesh, was also Cacophonous's first release in 1994. A step-up in production terms from the rehearsal quality of most of their demos, the album was still nevertheless a sparse and embryonic version of what was to come, with Dani Filth's vocals in particular bearing little similarity to the style he was later to develop. The album was well-received however, and as recently as June 2006 found its way into Metal Hammer's list of the top ten British black metal albums of the last twenty years.

Cradle's relationship with Cacophonous soon soured; the band accusing the label of contractual and financial mismanagement. Acrimonious legal proceedings took up most of 1995, and the band finally signed to Music For Nations in 1996 after only one more contractually obligated Cacophonous recording: the EP V Empire (or Dark Faerytales in Phallustein) which, it has since been conceded, was hastily written as a Cacophonous escape-plan. Despite the circumstances of its release however, V Empire, as with Principle, was enthusiastically received by Cradle's growing fan base. It may only have been "a ritual comprised of six parts and having a duration of forty minutes" (as the back cover attests), but its handful of tracks are staples of the band's live sets to this day.

The Music for Nations Era

Cover art for Dusk... and Her Embrace by Simon MarsdenDusk...and Her Embrace followed the same year: a critically acclaimed breakthrough album that greatly expanded the band's fan-base throughout Europe and the rest of the world. A concept album of sorts based generally on vampirism and specifically (though loosely) on the writing of Sheridan Le Fanu, Cradle's inaugural album for Music for Nations set the tone for what was to follow. The album's production values matched the band's ambition for the first time, whilst Dani's vocal gymnastics were at their most extreme. Global sales were impressive, and many fans still believe this to represent the band's creative peak.

The increasingly theatrical stage shows of the 1997 European tour helped keep Cradle in the public eye, as did a burgeoning line of controversial merchandise; not least the notorious t-shirt depicting a masturbating nun on the front and the slogan "Jesus is a cunt" on the back. A handful of fans have faced court appearances and fines for wearing the shirt in public, and some band members themselves attracted a certain amount of hostile attention when they wore the shirts to the Vatican. Alex Mosson, the Lord Provost of Glasgow from 1999-2003, called the shirt (and by implication the band) "sick and offensive". The band obviously approved, using the quote on the back cover of the 2005 DVD Peace Through Superior Firepower.

Cover art for Cruelty and the Beast by Stu WilliamsonCradle's star continued to ascend in 1998, as the band appeared in the BBC documentary series Living With the Enemy (on tour with a fan and his disapproving mother and sister) and released its third full-length album Cruelty and the Beast. A fully-realised concept album based on the legend of the "Blood Countess" Elizabeth Bathory, the album received rapturous reviews for its writing and musicianship and boasted the casting coup of Ingrid Pitt providing guest narration as the Countess: a role she first played in Hammer's 1971 film Countess Dracula. The self-produced album was criticised for its sound quality, however, and sales were initially disappointing.

The following year the band continued primarily to tour, but did release its first video, PanDaemonAeon, and an accompanying EP, From the Cradle to Enslave, featuring the music from the production. Replete with graphic nudity and gore, the video was directed by Alex Chandon, who would go on to produce further Cradle promo clips and DVD documentaries, as well as the full-length feature film Cradle of Fear. The apocalyptic millennial title track of the EP remains one of the band's best-known songs.

Cover art for Midian by JK PotterThe band released their fourth full-length studio album on Hallowe'en, 2000. Midian was based around the Clive Barker novel Cabal and its subsequent film adaptation Nightbreed, and the band's usage of his themes and imagery was approved by Barker himself. Like Cruelty and the Beast, Midian featured a guest narrator, this time in the form of Doug Bradley, who starred in Nightbreed but remains best known for playing Pinhead in the Hellraiser films. Bradley's line "Oh, no tears please" from "Her Ghost in the Fog" is a quote of Pinhead's from the first Hellraiser ("No tears, please. It's a waste of good suffering...") and Bradley would reappear on the later album Nymphetamine. Cradle's most accessible album to date, Midian was still by no means mainstream, but marked a major shift in the band's sound, which remained uncompromising but was becoming increasingly melodic. "Her Ghost in the Fog" spawned a video which received heavy rotation on MTV2 and other metal channels, and the track also found its way onto the soundtrack of the werewolf movie Ginger Snaps. Midian created a rift in fan opinion which has only increased with time: whilst taking them to new heights of popularity, it also provoked cries of "sell-out" from die-hard fans of the early albums.

The Sony Interlude
The longest ever interim period between full-length Cradle albums was nevertheless a busy time for the band. Bitter Suites to Succubi, a "transition mini-album" as Dani Filth later referred to it, was released on the band’s own "Abracadaver" label, and was a mixture of four new songs, re-recordings of three songs from The Principle of Evil Made Flesh, two instrumental tracks, and a cover of The Sisters of Mercy's "No Time To Cry." Stylistically similar to Midian the album is unique in featuring exactly the same band members as its predecessor, but is generally regarded as an EP and often overlooked in the band's canon. Further stop-gap releases followed in the form of the "best of" package Lovecraft and Witch Hearts and the live album Live Bait for the Dead, and the band (principally Dani) also found time to appear in Cradle of Fear while they negotiated their first major-label signing with Sony Music.

Cover art for Damnation and a Day by John CoulthartDamnation and a Day finally arrived in 2003; Sony's heavyweight funding underwriting Cradle's undiminished ambition by finally allowing a real orchestra into the studio (the 80-strong Budapest Film Orchestra and Choir replacing the increasingly sophisticated synthesisers of previous albums) and thus the band's belated gestation - for one album only - into full-blown symphonic metal. Though it disappointed some fans, Damnation featured the band’s most complex compositions to date, outran its predecessors by a good twenty minutes, and produced two more popular videos: the Švankmajer-influenced Mannequin, and Babalon AD (So Glad For The Madness), based on Pasolini's infamous Salň. Roughly half the album trod the conceptual territory of John Milton's Paradise Lost - showing the events of the Fall of Man through the eyes of Lucifer - while the remainder comprised stand-alone tracks such as the Nile tribute "Doberman Pharaoh" and the aforementioned "Babalon AD"; a reference to Aleister Crowley. Feeling that Sony's enthusiasm quickly palled however, Cradle jumped ship to Roadrunner Records after barely a year.

Roadrunner

Cover art for Nymphetamine by John Coulthart2004's Nymphetamine was the band's first full album since The Principle of Evil Made Flesh to not be based around any sort of overarching concept (although references to the works of H.P. Lovecraft are made more than once). A step back from the orchestral grandeur of Damnation and a Day, Cradle's bassist Dave Pybus described it as an "eclectic mix between the group's Damnation and Cruelty albums with a renewed vigour for melody, songmanship and plain fucking weirdness spat into the smelting bowl." As with every release since Midian, sales were strong and reviews in the rock press were positive, but fan reaction was mixed. The album's aggression was generally welcomed, but many lamented the fact that the band's self-aware humour was coming increasingly to the fore, not least in Dani's punning lyrics (always present but gaining prominence). Around this time Metal Hammer dismissively referred to them as "pantomime clowns", and the band's cover version of Cliff Richard's "Devil Woman" for the Nymphetamine special edition did little to convince its detractors of the band's integrity.

Cover art for Thornography by Samuel ArayaThe band began recording a new album, Thornography, in 2005. According to Dani Filth, the title "represents mankind's obsession with sin and self... An addiction to self-punishment or something equally poisonous... A mania." On the subject of the album's musicial direction, Filth recently told Revolver magazine, "I'm not saying it's 'experimental', but we're definitely testing the limits of what we can do... A lot of the songs are really rhythmical - thrashy, almost - but they're all also really catchy." The artwork by Samuel Araya featured to the left is a replacement for a previous album cover that was rejected by Roadrunner Records in May 2006, although numerous CD booklets had already been printed with the original image. The former album cover is still unreleased to the public. The scheduled release date for Thornography is currently October 17, 2006.

Genre
While many view the subject as an irrelevance, Cradle of Filth’s "true" black metal status has been in hot debate since near the time they became popular. Their format differs somewhat from most Norwegian black metal - which has led to them being deemed symphonic black metal - and they are often dismissed for a perceived lack of credibility, along with bands such as Dimmu Borgir whose pseudo-mainstream success followed in Cradle’s wake. It is arguably also the band's mischievous, self-aware humour that divides opinions and causes much of the controversy; black metal is not known for its jokes.

Some critics have labelled them and similar bands extreme gothic metal (although the term is not widely accepted) as their music draws inspiration from gothic metal. They have also, at one time or another, been labelled melodic black metal, satanic metal, vampyric metal, doom metal, speed metal, death metal, brutal death metal, melodic death metal and horror metal, some of which are regarded by critics and fans alike as entirely apocryphal categories.

However, the band's evolving sound has allowed them to continue resisting definitive categorisation. They are audibly influenced by Iron Maiden, have collaborated on projects like Christian Death's Born Again Anti-Christian album (on the track "Peek-A-Boo"), and have even dabbled outside of metal music with their controversial dance remixes ("Twisting Further Nails", "Pervert's Church" etc), although these have fallen by the wayside in recent years. In a 2006 interview with Terrorizer magazine, current guitarist Paul Allender said "We were never a black metal band. The only thing that catered to that was the make-up. Even when The Principle of Evil Made Flesh came out — you look at Emperor and Burzum and all that stuff — we didn't sound anything like that. The way that I see it is that we were, and still are now, an extreme metal band."

Appearing on the BBC music quiz Never Mind the Buzzcocks on April 9th 2001, Dani Filth wryly claimed Cradle's sound as "heavy funk", but his stated position on the band’s genre has generally been that "Cradle of Filth is Cradle of Filth."

Trivia
Sarah Jezebel Deva, though she has appeared on every Cradle release and tour since 1996, has never been considered a full band member. She has also performed with The Kovenant, Therion and Mortiis, and has her own solo project called Angtoria.
The opening line of the Midian song "Lord Abortion" ("care for a little necrophilia?") is a quote from Terry Gilliam's Brazil (voiced by Kim Greist in the film but delivered here by Toni King, Dani's wife). The torture room scene in the "From the Cradle to Enslave" video is also a Brazil homage.
Dani had a column in the British metal magazine Metal Hammer called "Dani's Inferno"
Cradle were described by The Guardian as proving that "the devil doesn't always have the best music".
"Dinner at a Deviant's Palace", from Bitter Suites to Succubi is actually The Lord's Prayer played backwards.
Cradle of Filth's cover of Samhain's song "Hallowe'en 2" for the Underworld: Evolution soundtrack is their first to feature clean vocals by Dani.
A live review in the February 2006 Metal Hammer described Cradle as "one part Satanic to three parts sarcastic".
Two tracks, erroneously attributed to Cradle of Filth, are widely distributed on internet file sharing sites and programmes. The first, a cover of Iron Maiden's "Fear of the Dark" is actually by Graveworm. The second purports to be a collaboration with Sepultura called "Fucked Up Life". Cradle have never recorded with Sepultura, although the two bands have toured together, and the song in question is really "Sewn Mouth Secrets" by Soilent Green. Similarly, Cradle's cover of Venom's "Black Metal" is often mis-labelled as a cover of Slayer's "Angel of Death". Cradle have covered Slayer's "Hell Awaits", but never "Angel of Death".
Episode 4 of The IT Crowd ("The Red Door") revolves around the goth Richmond; once an up-and-coming professional until his transformation into a Dracula-esque Cradle fan. At the funeral of his boss's father he handed the widow a gift-wrapped CD, recommending she listen to track four, "Coffin Fodder" (actually track nine on Nymphetamine). Ever since then he has been forced to work hidden in a cupboard. Richmond is played by Noel Fielding of The Mighty Boosh. He also turns up in part six, but not as the focus of the episode.
A tongue-in-cheek answerphone message by Dani Filth is available to download on most peer-to-peer file-sharing networks (listed under several different names). The message is one of a series from the British magazine Metal Hammer's cover-mounted CDs, dating from the late 1990s / early 2000s. It features sound effects of thunder, lightning and creaking doors, and promises that "someone... or something will get back to you... later... much later...".
The band is often perceived as satanic by casual observers, although its outright lyrical references to satanism are few and far between, and its use of satanic imagery has arguably always had more to do with the shock value than any deeply-held beliefs. Nevertheless, Andrea Meyer (the band's first female vocalist on The Principle of Evil Made Flesh) makes an uncorroborated claim in Gavin Baddely's Lucifer Rising (p.211) that she was employed as the band's "satanic advisor", protecting them from the foolish excesses she believes other bands guilty of: "A lot of black metal bands know nothing of Satanism. They like the image and... give proper satanists a bad name by claiming they indulge in sacrifices and drink blood or whatever... Look what happened in Norway... Still, I liked Euronymous. He wasn't stupid - just too extreme. It's a shame that he's dead."

EVO MALO SLIKA NEZNAM OCEM DA PISEM NEGO MALO O PANTERI KOJI VOLE POZZ SVIMA

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

FORGOTTEN PAST IN MEMORY OF CHUCK SCHULDINER

The Sound Of Perseverance - 1998

A powerhouse of previously "unknown" musicians. Previous lineups gave these guys a lot to live up to. It isn't easy to fill the shoes of Gene Hoglan, Steve DiGiorgio, James Murphy, Paul Masvidal, or Andy LaRocque. This album put Richard Christy on the map as one of metal's finest and busiest drummers, opening up doors for him to play in many other outfits like Iced Earth and Incantation. Long years of labor in the Houston, Texas scene paid of for lead guitarist Shannon Hamm when he joined forces with Chuck, likewise. All bassist Scott Clendenin brought with him a distinctive pick-playing style-and his love for progressive rock added lots of variety to the Death sound.

Symbolic - 1995

The lineup that crafted what many consider to be Death's finest and most well-rounded album. As far as personalities working well together, there was less trouble here than in previous lineups. This time only Kelly Conlon didn't fit the Death mold. Despite the fact that Steve DiGiorgio was unavailable for SYMBOLIC and the tour to follow, the album and tour was a crushing force to be reckoned with. As on INDIVIDUAL THOUGHT PATTERNS, Gene Hoglan battered the drums crazily. Guitarist Bobby Koelble, an old high school acquaintance of Chuck's, threw some very capable jazz-fusion influenced soloing into the mix.

Individual Thought Patterns - 1993

A killer team to pump out some of the most complex Death riffing ever. Gene Hoglan put aside some old bad vibes that existed between Death and his old band, Dark Angel-and he delivered a drumming performance that not only stood up to Sean Reinert's, but excelled in its own right. Steve DiGiorgio's fretless bass work fit INDIVIDUAL like a glove, and unlike on HUMAN they were very audible. King Diamond guitarist Andy LaRocque's fiery leadwork (how about that buttery guitar tone?) was a hard act to follow. Unable to tour with Death, Andy's shoes were more than adequately filled by Eyewitness & Millennium shredder Ralph Santolla on the INDIVIDUAL tour of the States.

Human - 1991

Just the band to push Death's already technical sound over the edge to the new evolutionary level Chuck envisioned. Cynic members Masvidal and Reinert both had killer metal chops that were empowered by their love for jazz-fusion. James Murphy was the first truly skilled Death second guitarist, and Paul Masvidal was more than capable of solos with melody, speed, and taste. Sean Reinert's drumming set a new standard for all Death drummers to follow. Skott Carino filled Steve DiGiorgio's shoes on the road, as Steve had prior commitments to his band Sadus. The guitars on the album drowned out most of the bass, and this was also the case on stage...But both bass-men are hailed by most Death fans as their favorites.

Spiritual Healing - 1990

This volatile lineup crafted the pivotal Death album that saw the introduction of clean production, tons of catchy melody, and more technical riffing and complex arrangements. Though James Murphy wouldn't last long in Death, his fluid axe-slinging on SPIRITUAL opened many doors for him when he went on to record with Obituary, Cancer & Testament. But Murphy wasn't the only one firing off ripping guitar solos. Chuck's long strle culminated on SPIRITUAL, and his lead guitar ability had matured immeasurably from the days of SCREAM BLOODY GORE and the demos before.

Leprosy - 1988

Though Terry Butler & Bill Andrews would stick with Chuck for two albums, Rick Rozz already had a strained relationship with Chuck from the Mantas demo days. Rick and Chuck patched things up long enough to cut LEPROSY and do a small amount of touring afterward, but this was definitely another volatile Death lineup. Where Chris Reifert was more of a thrash drummer, Bill Andrews' grooves were built on his love for early '80s metal bands like Anvil. Chuck's hyper speed solo style was evolving. Despite Rick Rozz's whammy bar fest, the album is still considered a classic, containing old school Death fans' perennial fave song "Pull the Plug". In the bass department, Terry seems to have followed Chuck's own formula from SCREAM BLOODY GORE.

Scream Bloody Gore - 1987

A two man Death machine! Chuck was about 19 and Chris was just 17 when they joined forces to blast out the MUTILATION demo, followed by SCREAM BLOODY GORE. Chuck tackled all the vocals, guitars, and bass-not one to let the lack of a permanent bassist hold his musical vision back! Little did they know that this would be the start of a band that would attain a huge following all over the world and release 7 studio albums. Death was Chris' door to forming his very own band, Autopsy. Chuck and Chris brought gore riddled song titles and lyrics together with fierce and fast metal axe grinding and drumming. In retrospect, it's rather amazing to note that just these two young men alone were able to cut such a heavy album. The SBG sound was quite brutal (although there was plenty of melody and a fair share of slower "doomy" grooves), but Death would only improve with age.

*EVO BIOGRAFIJA I MALO SPOTOVA UZIVAJTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*

1983
1984
Unquestionably one of the most important and influential death metal acts to have ever emerged from the North American continent, Florida's DEATH came together in late 1983 when guitarist/vocalist Chuck Schuldiner and guitarist Rick Rozz (real name: Frederick DeLillo) got together with drummer/vocalist Barney "Kam" Lee to form Mantas. Drawing musical inspiration from Venom and Slayer, the trio (no bassist had yet entered the picture!) went about composing original tunes and making very rough, crude rehearsal recordings to send out to various tape-traders around the world. Out of these sessions came a completely unproduced five-song "demo" entitled Death By Metal (mid-1984), which --in spite of its primitive nature-- ended up establishing the group as one of most promising contenders for the American death metal throne, a status that at the time was being firmly held by San Francisco's Possessed. The recognition they received, however, was not enough to help Mantas along in their hometown of Orlando, where the group were still not being taken seriously by any of the clubs or fellow musicians.

"The local situation was fuckin' nearly impossible," Schuldiner later recalled. "A lot of people looked down upon us. We got a lot of shit from the local band scene; all the bands from around (Orlando) thought we were pure shit. We were noisy back then, but we were putting out brutal death metal, and it was too much for people to comprehend." This complete lack of local support for the band's music was at least partly to blame for the constant internal turmoil within the group and Mantas' eventual break-up in late 1984.
THE PHILOSOPHER

Vowing to carry on making music that was "faster and heavier" than anything he'd done before, Schuldiner immediately announced his plans to form a new band -simply called DEATH- and relocate to either Tampa or California after his 18th birthday (which was to occur in May of 1985), a move that he felt could improve his chances of securing a stable line-up for the group. Within weeks, however, Chuck reconciled with Rozz and Lee and commenced the writing sessions for what would become the legendary Reign Of Terror demo.

We have gotten so much heav"ier (since reforming), it's almost beyond comprehension," Schuldiner stated on the eve of the demo's recording. Laid down over a five-hour period during October 1984 "in the back room of a music store where they keep recording equipment", Reign Of Terror cost a grand total of $80 and was never properly mixed down due to a lack of time in a proper recording studio. In spite of this, the six-song tape was circulated worldwide through the vast tape-trading network and put DEATH on the map as one of the genre's most extreme and brutal groups.

On December 30th, 1984, DEATH performed with local Tampa heroes Nasty Savage at Ruby's Pub and made an audio recording of the show that they would later release as an "official" live tape. "We're going to trash the (Reign Of Terror) demo, because it sucks compared to our live tape," Chuck was quoted as saying at the time.

1985 Three months later, on March 9th, 1985, Chuck, Rick and Kam finally got the opportunity to record a "proper" studio demo, a three-song recording made specifically for the purpose of finding a record deal. Not an "official" demo release, the Infernal Death tape (as it would later become known) was to be the last recording made with this line-up, as Chuck slowly grew apart from the other members and began to set his eyes on a Michigan bassist by the name of Scott Carlson (then of Genocide, and later of Repulsion).

"Scott sent us a tape of himself jamming, and he absolutely kills," Chuck enthused. By the time Scott relocated to Orlando (replacing Rozz), he brought along with him Genocide guitarist Matt Olivo, and the two joined Kam and Chuck in a short-lived incarnation of DEATH that ended when Lee finally exited, leaving the remaining three members drummer-less. Several frustrating months followed during which Chuck, Matt and Scott atempted to find a replacement for Kam, but the task proved impossible, ultimately causing Scott and Matt to return to Michigan and leaving Chuck the daunting task of finding an entirely new line-up.

In September of 1985, Chuck relocated to San Francisco at the urging of ex-D.R.I. drummer Eric Brecht, and the pair soon hooked up in yet another version of the band, this time with the intent of their band "being the fastest ever". Ultimately, however, Chuck realized that a full-speed assault did not allow for the different musical shades and colors which made DEATH such an import muscial entity, and in December of that same year, he returned to Florida, bandless once again. It was around that time that he got a phone call from Toronto death metal upstarts Slaughter, who -just a few short weeks prior to entering the studio to begin recording their debut album, Strappado-- asked him to move up to Canada and join their ranks. Frustrated with his local environment.

1986 Chuck accepted their offer and in January of 1986 moved to Toronto to start rehearsing with the group. Although initially enthusiastic about the prospect of being in an actual "band", Schuldiner quickly realized the need to pursue his own vision and not follow somebody else's lead, and promptly left Canada to return to Florida, where he started plotting his next attack. Within weeks he was back in San Francisco where he hooked up with a promising young drummer by the name of Chris Reifert, and in April of that same year, the pair entered a California studio to record the infamous three-song Mutilation demo. By far the best-recorded tape Chuck had laid down up until that point, Mutilation rapidly made the rounds in metal circles, and the demo soon found its way in the hands of Combat Records, who proceeded to snap up the group to a multi-album deal.
CRYSTAL MOUNTAIN

In July of 1986, Chuck and Chris entered a Florida recording studio to start work on their debut album for the label, but due to various technical problems, the sessions didn't go past the initial basic tracks and the whole project was moved over to Hollywood's Music Grinder Studios. Paired up with producer Randy Burns, DEATH spent only a few days recording the LP before Chuck and Chris returned home, leaving Randy to mix the album. While waiting for the album to be mixed and mastered, Schuldiner and Reifert came in contact with a young Californian guitarist by the name of John Hand, whom they welcomed in the band, even going so far as to have his photo included on the back cover of the upcoming record. It was a decision that would later haunt the group, as Hand would leave the group prior to the recording of their second album and thus never recorded so much as a single note with DEATH.

1987 Released in May of 1987, DEATH's debut record Scream Bloody Gore was immediately met with praise and accolades, with magazines and fans hailing it as one of the most important death metal releases of all time. However, with Chuck once again having returned to Florida and Reifert basing himself in San Francisco, Schuldiner --in yet another surprising move-- decided to join forces with three-fourths of Florida's Massacre (including Rick Rozz). This marked the first touring incarnation of DEATH, which made its first major live appearance at that year's Milwaukee Metalfest. During the successful club tour that followed, DEATH aired three brand-new numbers ("Born Dead", "Open Casket" and "Pull The Plug") that Chuck had written for the group's sophomore outing, which showcased a more mature, focussed direction for the band while retaining the brutality that had become the group's trademark.

1988
1989
By April of 1988, DEATH had returned to the recording studio (Tampa's Morrisound facility) and, under the guidance of Dan Johnson, laid down their much-anticipated second album. A polished-yet-savagely-heavy effort, Leprosy, like it's predecessor, had its roots firmly in the Slayer/Venom/Hellhammer school of songwriting, but with an increased emphasis on the kind of melodic passages that would later become central to the group's sound. Not surprisingly, this powerful combination was an instant "hit" in the metal underground and became a major influence on hundreds of bands that emerged during death metal's "resurgence" in the late '80's, including groups such as Entombed and Napalm Death (who ended up recording their Harmony Corruption album at Morrisound Studios in an attempt to recapture Leprosy's distinctive production).

Although the DEATH line-up would change once again, the band had made an indelible impression with their first two releases. Indeed, it was albums such as Leprosy that help to forge a path for the hundreds of death metal bands which would soon rise in subsequent years, although none of them would be able to erase the importance nor savagery of tracks such as "Pull The Plug". The fact that some of these songs remain fan favorites even to this day speaks of their time-tested craftsmanship and the importance of the band, not only in the American metal scene but with an impact whose influence would soon be witnessed throughout the world.
SPIRIT CRUSHER

An appearance at the Ultimate Revenge II video shoot (a live video/CD which also included Dark Angel and Forbidden, among others) took place in October, 1988, followed by more touring through much of 1989. By the end of that year, the volatile relatiosnship between Chuck and Rick had gotten virtually intolerable for Schuldiner and a parting of the ways became inevitable. "Rick was basically kicked out of the band due to the fact that we were all into progressing as a group and getting better as musicians, and he simply was not," Chuck was quoted as saying a few months later. "He was stopping me from writing the kind of material I wanted to write due to his inability to play the songs, and we all knew it was time for a change."

1990 In Rick's place, DEATH enlisted James Murphy, a Florida resident who'd previously spent time in Agent Steel and Hallows Eve, and began work on the all-important third album, entitled "Spiritual Healing". Produced by Scott Burns, Spiritual... represented yet another step forward in Chuck's quest towards incorporating an increased level of musicality into the group's songwriting, while at the same time shying away from the Satanic and low-budget gore movie-type lyrics that were becoming commonplace in the genre. "I think that Spiritual Healing is very much representative of what death metal can sound like when it's done with strong emphasis on musicality and less so on hyper-speed and stupid Satanic lyrics," Chuck said after the album's release. "We believe that we can turn a few more people into death metal with this record and change a lot of people's minds about what death metal is supposed to sound like."
LACK OF COMPREHENSION

Get this video and more at MySpace.com
In spite of some of the early criticism from the die-hard death metal fans who viewed the musical progression on Spiritual... as a negative one, the album went on to be a highly successful one for the group, with DEATH doing more touring and in front of larger crowds than ever before. Unfortunately, it also marked the last time the group would record with this line-up, as pressure in Chuck's personal life and internal band disagreements caused Murphy to be dejected from the group first, followed by drummer Bill Andrews and bassist Terry Butler a few months later.

In the decade that followed, DEATH issued several more critically-acclaimed releases while gradually gravitating towards a much more technical musical approach, one that would inevitably alienate some of the group's longtime fans. Along the way, Chuck came to be rightfully regarded as one of the pioneers of the death metal genre, while Spiritual Healing came to earn its place in the annals of death metal history as one the finest albums ever released under the banner.

Na njihovim prvim izdanjima ("Altars of Madness" 1989., "Blessed Are the Sick" 1991.) u postavi benda su bili Azagthoth, pjevač i basist David Vincent, gitarist Richard Brunelle i bubnjar Pete Sandoval. Ljeto 2001. Morbid Angel su proveli svirajući na turneji diljem SAD zajedno s bendovima Pantera i Slayer kao dio multi benda Extreme Steel Tour.

JOS MALO O EMPERORU

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Kao i vecina tadasnjih perspektivnih black metal bandova, i Emperor je zaokupio paznju diskografske kuce Deathlike Silence Productions, inace u vlasnistvu Euronymousa (Oystein Aarseth), gitariste i glave kultnog norveskog BM banda Mayhem, vlasnika malog glazbenog shopa Helvette i ideoloskog predvodnika kontroverzne teroristicke organizacije Crni krug.
Pred kraj 1992. godine, Emperor snima cetiri nove pjesme. Zajedno sa jos jednom mladom nadom norveskog black metala, grupom Enslaved, 1993. preko engleske kuce Candlelight Records izlazi Emperor/Enslaved split CD pod nazivom "Hordane's land".
Medjutim, problemi pocinju muciti Emperor. 1995.
14.2.1997. napokon izlazi novi znak zivota u obliku "Reverence" EPa koji je osim dvije nove pjesme sadrzavao i efektan spot za pjesmu "The loss and curse of reverence". Iste godine izlazi i drugi sluzbeni album pod nazivom "Anthems to the welkin at dusk".
Tijekom godina grupa svira jos pokoju obradu: fenomenalni cover Darkthroneove "Cromlech" i obradu Mayhemove pjesme "Freezing moon".
Zato je '99. bila puna novih izdanja. Krenimo redom: preko Moonfog productions izlazi "Emperor vs. Thorns" izdanje. Njihov debi izlazi '99. pod nazivom "Strangling from within", takodjer za Candlelight Records.
Iste godine genijalac Ihsahn izdaje jos dva izdanja za Peccatum: mini album "Oh my regrets" i drugi full-length album "Amor fati", inace snimljenih u njegovu vlastitu studiju.
Blizimo se polako kraju povijesti grupe Emperor...2001. godine izlazi prvijenac grupe Zyklon "World ov worms".
Ihsahn pise sve tekstove i glazbu za novi album naslovljen "Prometheus - the discipline of fire & demise" i sklapa ga u svom studiju.

Novi singl Hate Me pušten je u prodaju nedugo prije izlaska trećeg albuma Follow The Reaper. 2002. godine izlazi novi singl You're Better Off Dead, a poslije njega izlazi album Hate Crew Deathroll.

A sada "Oath Bound".
