In this photo my goal was to adjust the woman face as if she was 10 or 20 year younger. I used tools such as the patching, blurring, layer duplication with increased noise to photo and the doge tool to lighten her skin tone. The effect was undergoing an extreme makeover on photoshop.

Even though the PCL is designed to lift evenly, it's a good idea to occasionally walk around to make sure nothing is snagged--especially if you're a one-man operation team.
Success!
Needless to say, this PCL will work just fine, both home and abroad.

In New York City, the place to go for typewriter repairs and tune-ups is Gramercy Office Equipment Co. (212-674-7700), 174 Fifth Avenue. Ask for Mr. Paul Schweitzer or his son Justin Schweitzer. I’m a satisfied customer and I approve this message. The Schweitzers have been in the business at least since the 1930s; they’ve had a repair shop in the Flatiron/Gramercy Park neighborhood since the the 1930s. They were on the 8th floor of the Flatiron Building from the 1940s until just around 2008; now directly across Fifth Avenue from the Flatiron at 174, on the fourth floor. Not “stuck in the past,” they also repair Hewlett-Packard laser printers and fax machines.

AT Cure Spring 08 - Week 4.5
Finally tackling that backsplash. Bought a repair kit, sought advice at the hardware store, bought an extra patch, websearched a proper solution to CONTACT PAPER removal (use a blowdryer and peel slowly, then apply citrus-based adhesive remover), that's good ol' Goo Gone shining up the walls there. I applied with a toothbrush three times to limit the run off. No good. Spray it right on! Then wait and rub till your arm falls off.
I'll need more patches it seems. So doing the thorough cleaning tonight in preparation. After brunch tomorrow, I'll get the additional patches and spackle it up.

Before visiting The Impossible Project NYC Space, I had no idea just how small it is. You can see the main display case, and the Polaroid repair workstation in the background. Apparently the enlarged instant prints on the wall were taken with a 4x5 scanning back, so they're truly high quality. No cheapo scans here, my friend.

Wales Baseball Glove 9220 - Before 2
Wales 9220 Baseball Glove -- Made in Japan. I really like the design in the palm. Just don't do them like this anymore!
A Fun glove to work on. Not too much wrong except the knots borken off. Used a thinner lace - still a bit thick and some "not quite right" stuff at the bottom for the pocket. Very quick as it was not complicated - about an hour to redo the laces.

This was a nive Firstbase Glove - but had been restrung with shoe laces. It cried out to be redone! It was so bad that I had to research pictures on the internet and ebay, adking sellers to send me some details of the various areas. I am pretty sure that I have it repaired right - but welcome other opinions.

Robert Kubica's car after accident during Ronde di Andora Rally in Italy last weekend.
Robert Kubica's car after accident during Ronde di Andora Rally in Italy last weekend.
He hit a guardrail, the rail pierced the firewall, went through Kubica's limbs (nearly severing his right hand) and out the back of the car, at which point the car spun to a stop...
As of Wednesday, February 09, Kubica is still in critical condition, and doctors were able to repair much of the tendon damage and reattach his right hand. On Monday, he was able to move the fingers of his reattached hand, and knows of his condition.
BIO: Robert Kubica is a 22-year-old race driver, best known for his Formula One racing. he is currently contracted to drive for the newly-christened Lotus-Renault GP F1 team, but his accident last weekend, occurring just weeks before the start of the Formula One 2011 World Championship, will sideline him for much of the season, pretty much ending his season before it began.
Doctors expect that Kubica will be in the hospital for two to three weeks, and require between five months to a year of rehabilitation. As a consequence, there are people that doubt he will recover well enough to be able to race at all, putting the future of his racing career in general in doubt.
Joe sent me - Or, if you approach the door and knock, they may ask you to "speak easy." A note from the Finn below:
Yesterday I had surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff on my left shoulder. I also happen to be left handed. Please don't desert me if I am slow in giving comments. Everything is taking longer. Surgery took 2 1/2 hours - on Thursday I'll tell how I did it.
The rotator cuff helps to lift and rotate the arm and to stabilize the ball of the shoulder within the joint. The rotator cuff can be torn from a single traumatic injury. Patients often report recurrent shoulder pain for several months and a specific injury that triggered the onset of the pain. A cuff tear may also happen at the same time as another injury to the shoulder, such as a fracture or dislocation. Most tears, however, are the result of overuse of these muscles and tendons over a period of years. People who are especially at risk for overuse are those who engage in repetitive overhead motions. These include participants in sports such as baseball, tennis, weight lifting, and rowing. Rotator cuff tears are most common in people who are over the age of 40. Younger people tend to have rotator cuff tears following acute trauma or repetitive overhead work or sports activity.

Vélib'
We didn't ever use this system. It requires a credit card with a chip or a Maestro Debit card. Plus we didn't want to end up with a huge bill in Euro's beaciuse of some misunderstanding. But it does look like a good idea.
From Wikipedia:
"Velib’ (French: velo libre or velo liberte, English: free bicycle or bicycle freedom) is a public bicycle rental programme in Paris, France. The initiative was pushed by Paris mayor Bertrand Delanoe from the French Socialist Party. The system was launched on 15 July 2007, following Lyon's Velo'v success. Ten thousand bicycles were introduced to the city with 750 automated rental stations each with fifteen or more bikes/spaces. This number has since grown to 20,000 bicycles and 1,450 stations, roughly one station every 300 metres throughout the city centre, making Velib’ the largest system of its kind in the world.
Each Velib station is equipped with an automatic rental terminal and spots for dozens of bicycles. Maps showing the station locations are available at all kiosks.
The robust gray bicycles were produced by the French bicycle company Mercier, in Hungary.[1] The price per bicycle has been variously stated as $1,300[2], €300[3], or $3,460[4] apiece. They are three-speed bicycles, each weighing 22.5 kilograms, have always-on LED lighting powered by a fronthub dynamo, a locking system and a front bicycle basket.
The rental terminals display the location and numbers of available bicycles and free spots of the neighboring Velib stations. If a user arrives with a rented bicycle at a station without free spots, the terminal grants another fifteen minutes of free rental time. A fleet of twenty bicycle-transporting vehicles are used over night to redistribute bicycles to high-demand stations in time for the next morning.
In order to use the system, users need to take out a subscription, which allows the subscriber an unlimited number of rentals. Subscriptions can be purchased at €1 per day, €5/week or €29/year. With a subscription, bike rental is free for the first half hour of every individual trip; an unlimited number of such free trips can be made per day. A trip that lasts longer than 30 minutes incurs a charge of one to four euros for each subsequent 30-minute period. The increasing price scale is intended to keep the bikes in circulation.
A credit card or Maestro debit card with PIN is required to sign up for the programme and to rent the bikes. The credit/debit card will be charged €150 if a rented bike is not returned. The credit card is required to contain an EMV-chip in most cases[5] (this includes all French cards, most European cards, but as of June 2008[update], few USA credit cards). The sign-up can then be attached to a Navigo pass or a one year card[clarification needed], which allows direct use of the card readers at bikes' attach points; alternatively a numerical identification code can be used at the pay station.
The system is financed by the JCDecaux advertising corporation, in return for the city of Paris signing over the income from a substantial portion of the on-street billboard advertising. JCDecaux won the contract over a rival bid from Clear Channel.[4][clarification needed]
JCDecaux paid start-up costs of about $115 million and employs the equivalent of about 285 people full time to operate the system and repair the bikes for 10 years. The city receives all revenue from the program as well as a fee of about $4.3 million a year. In return, JCDecaux receives exclusive control over 1,628 city-owned billboards; the city receives about half of that billboard space at no charge for public-interest advertising.[2] (Slightly different numbers were reported in July 2008.)[4] This model was first used in France in 1998 by Adshel (now part of Clear Channel) in Rennes.
In the first year, three people have died in accidents on rented bikes; some car drivers complain that riders do not follow all traffic rules.[4]
Occasionally, people will chain a bicycle to its station, so that it will remain available for a subsequent trip; the Velib officials recommend cutting the locks in these cases[citation needed].
At least 3,000 bicycles have been stolen in the first year of operation, many more than had been initially estimated[4]
Some have been stolen and shipped to Eastern Europe and Africa. Others have been vandalized, thrown in the river, and Youtube videos made of the bicycles being vandalized."
Ol' Lonely and The Apprentice muse over the the repair kit belonging to Penn State's own Maytag repairman, Larry Taylor. The "kit" contained magazines, crossword puzzles and a deck of cards. Open Day
An open day was held at Crewe Works on Saturday 20th September 1975. It must have been phenomenally successful. I caught the 0820 Glasgow train from Bristol and took almost the last empty seat. At every station large crowds of mostly youngish men carrying Adidas bags and notable for their rather poor dress-sense were waiting. From Birmingham all the aisles and vestibules were packed with standing passengers. Other trains, similarly overcrowded, must have been converging on Crewe from all points of the compass. At Crewe a special connecting bus service had been laid on, operated by Crosville Motor Services. We shuffled up to the end of a queue of about 500 people. The wait was of surprisingly short duration, for empty buses drove up to the head of the queue every couple of minutes. I boarded an FLF Lodekka and paid 20p to the harrassed-looking conductor.
One of the small number of class 47s still running in BR two-tone green, with lion-and-wheel emblem, is seen laid up in one of the yards, minus batteries and secured by chocks.
On the way back I stood as far as Cheltenham.
Garage Door
I was driving around this neighborhood in South Austin when I saw this home with this painted garage door.

HOW TO REPAIR PAINT DAMAGE. HOW TO REPAIR
How to repair paint damage. Plastic bumper scratch repair.
How To Repair Paint Damage
- A how-to or a how to is an informal, often short, description of how to accomplish some specific task. A how-to is usually meant to help non-experts, may leave out details that are only important to experts, and may also be greatly simplified from an overall discussion of the topic.
- Practical advice on a particular subject; that gives advice or instruction on a particular topic
- Providing detailed and practical advice
- (How To’s) Multi-Speed Animations
- Put right (a damaged relationship or unwelcome situation)
- the act of putting something in working order again
- Fix or mend (a thing suffering from damage or a fault)
- a formal way of referring to the condition of something; "the building was in good repair"
- Make good (such damage) by fixing or repairing it
- restore by replacing a part or putting together what is torn or broken; "She repaired her TV set"; "Repair my shoes please"
- Inflict physical harm on (something) so as to impair its value, usefulness, or normal function
- inflict damage upon; "The snow damaged the roof"; "She damaged the car when she hit the tree"
- the occurrence of a change for the worse
- loss of military equipment
- Have a detrimental effect on
- A colored substance that is spread over a surface and dries to leave a thin decorative or protective coating
- a substance used as a coating to protect or decorate a surface (especially a mixture of pigment suspended in a liquid); dries to form a hard coating; "artists use `paint' and `pigment' interchangeably"
- apply paint to; coat with paint; "We painted the rooms yellow"
- Cosmetic makeup
- An act of covering something with paint
- make a painting; "he painted all day in the garden"; "He painted a painting of the garden"
"Autumn Landscape, Red Trees" Before Treatment
Before the 2006 conservation treatment of this painting at the IMA, the landscape was obscured under layers of thick yellow varnish and heavy layers of overpaint and overfill. The overpaint and overfill not only covered old damages to the painting, but also covered extensive areas of surviving original paint. The surface of the painting was very uneven, mainly from the misalignment of old tears and damages in the fabric support, but also from the heavy layers of overpaint and varnish that was on top of those old damages.
Was the yellow varnish original to the painting?
No, the yellow varnish covered the old damages and areas of overpaint, meaning that it was applied after those past restorations took place.
How can a conservator tell the difference between the original paint and the overpaint added by restorers?
There are several visual techniques that help a conservator to distinguish between original paint and overpaint. These include visual observations of the surface, often under magnification, and examination under ultraviolet illumination. Surface observations include a difference in color, opacity, and texture between the original paint and overpaint. Under magnification, it is often easy to see that the overpaint is on top of the original paint. In this painting, the overpaint also covered old damages—the damages were not original to the painting so we know that the overpaint was applied later. See the next image for information on ultraviolet examination.
What do you mean by the terms “overfill” and “overpaint”?
Those are terms used by conservators to describe fill material, which fills in the hole left by a paint loss, that has extended over the original paint. The same idea applies to the term” overpaint”. Today, conservators carefully infill and inpaint damages so that new material is added only where the original is missing.

It has been done. My dvd player (the thin box on the top) works as before.

Do not do the same unless you know what you're doing. Switched power supplies, like the one in this dvd22 are quite dangerous to touch. Also be sure that you know how to solder things to printed circuit boards and how to handle electrolytric capacitors before even thinking of doing this yourself.

The Impossible Project
Before visiting The Impossible Project NYC Space, I had no idea just how small it is. You can see the main display case, and the Polaroid repair workstation in the background. Apparently the enlarged instant prints on the wall were taken with a 4x5 scanning back, so they're truly high quality. No cheapo scans here, my friend.
Taken in The Impossible Project NYC Space, SoHo, New York City, NY.

YKK Zippers for Swap
Ok, so I'm really wanting to clean out my sewing/craft area and swap/trade for items I need to finish some of my UFO's.
Up for trade are 85 hunter green nylon zippers. Not sure who can use these many, because obviously it's not me, but if interested I'm looking to trade for some orange or aqua fat quarters to finish my orange and aqua quilt (see pic in the WIP).
Thanks for the help!
