minima Cackling Goose variation Photos taken near Vancouver, Clark County, WA, USA on 30 Oct 2011. Goose biologists have noted that there is a great deal of variation in the breast color of all taxa of Cackling and Canada Geese. The minima race of Cackling Goose is often thought as the darkest breasted subspecies of Cackling Goose, and the most consistently so. However, USGS biologists have noted that the breast darkness of this race nearly spans the Munsell Dirt Scale. These photos fairly well represent the range of darkness in the breast color of this taxon. Note that even the paler breasted bird has a bit of sheen or shine to the breast, making it more pearly than pale gray. This is pretty typical of minima, and rare in nominate Cackling Geese and Taverner's Cackling Geese. Band Geek, I I'm a freshman band geek here, in the fall of 1967. My grandparents invested early on in my musical education, I'm eternally grateful to them for the enrichment that has brought me over the years. That's my high school in the background- Thomas Carr Howe, Indianapolis, Indiana. Day 54: Band Geek Tonight was the first home football game. The band performed the show during halftime and it was kick ass. I finally got my own official uniform: bibbers, jacket, shako, and plume (spelling???) I'm so happy about that. Tomorrow night is the second competition. Nature's Viagra My wife and I ate seafood at this restaurant, the Rock Fish Grill, in Dallas. The place had great food, atmosphere, and reasonable prices. There were lots of cute sayings on the walls like the one in this photo and a crew of responsive waiters and waitresses who wore t-shirts that had things like "Your Fish is Our Command" on them. ohsnap again! Where are they Now? Apartment Apartment were a Post Punk band formed in Bristol, UK in late 1978. Fronted by Alan Griffiths -Vocals/Guitar, with Emil on Drums and Richard White playing Bass. They appeared on Heartbeat Records 1979 seminal 'Avon Calling' Bristol Compilation album with the track 'The Alternative'. In 1980 they released a double A-sided single 'The Car / 'Winter' also on Heartbeat. They were later joined by Steve Street from Europeans on Bass. The band split up in summer 1980, Alan Griffiths (with Emil) would later go on to form The Escape, and Steve Street continued his production work and briefly joined Bath band Interview. Subsequently Alan Griffiths went on to tour with Tears For Fears in 1985, and later produced and co-wrote several albums with the second line-up of Tears For Fears throughout the 1990s. In 2009 Bristol Archive Records released a downloadable album by Apartment called 'House Of Secrets'. In Sept 2010 two Apartment tracks "Broken Glass" & "The Retrospect" were included on the CD release of "Avon Calling 2" released by Bristol Archive Records. Singles ’’The Car’/'Winter’’ (1980, Heartbeat Records, UK, 7", PULSE 7) Albums ’’House Of Secrets’’ (2009, Bristol Archive Records, UK. - In Anthems - This is a new pop-punk band coming out of Richmond, VA that was started by two ex-members of recently departed band, A Suffocating Signal. From listening to their demos and hanging in the studio, I can tell you it's definately fun music to listen to. For fans of NFG and Rise Against, this could be your next favorite band. I did a few plain backdrop shots for their myspace layout. Chase (far right) does look super creepy in it, haha. I plan on later replacing another shot of him into the photo. I'm not sure they'll use this one or not, so that's why I decided to post it. Anyway, it's a rather simple edit with some dodge and burning. The other photos will be edited the same way. Snow and Sunny's agry bagry-India vs England 1st test Lords 1971 Cricket history is littered with no-nonsense characters, and two of the most single-minded ones came into contact when England met India at Lord's in 1971. Public-school educated and a writer of poetry, John Snow was a fast bowler whose career took some time to take off, but when it did he became one of the great English fast bowlers. He was at his best in internationals - the county grind often bored him and he made no secret of the fact; and he wasn't overly worried who knew it. In 1971 he was at his peak following an Ashes-winning winter in which he had taken 31 wickets. That tour was dogged by poor on-field conduct and it culminated in England leaving the field after Snow had felled Terry Jenner and sparked crowd trouble in the seventh Test at Sydney. Snow might have been a hero to supporters, but he was far from popular with those who ran the game. Sunil Gavaskar was a diminutive opening batsmen who had exploded onto the Test scene with 774 runs in his first four Tests in the Caribbean, including four hundreds, as India pulled off a remarkable series win. He arrived in England with a fearsome reputation as "a young batsman of quite exceptional ability". The three-match series kicked off at Lord's, where Snow starred with the bat, making a career-best 73 as they recovered from 71 for 5 to score 304. India replied with 313, Gavaskar making only his second score under 50. His dismissal came almost immediately after a dog had strolled on to the ground and sniffed around him. Gavaskar, who has a phobia about dogs, was rattled. India's spinners bowled England out a second time for 191 - unsurprising as they had taken 109 of the 124 wickets to fall on the tour coming into the game - and India were set a last-day target of 183. They lost two early wickets before Gavaskar and Farokh Engineer, who were both to open three years later, mounted a decent recovery. On the verge of lunch, Snow bowled to Engineer, who dropped the ball into the leg side and called for a quick single. Snow, whose follow-through had taken him off the pitch but ahead of Gavaskar, changed direction to intercept the ball. At the same time Gavaskar, sensing that he was struggling to make his ground if the bowler fielded, accelerated. Snow sensed that "Gavaskar was doing the one thing all batsmen are taught and expected to do when they find themselves in that type of situation ... namely run over the ball". Expecting a collision, Snow, who at more than six feet tall towered over the 5' 5" batsman, shifted his weight in anticipation. But Gavaskar did not do as expected and actually ran wider off the cut pitch. Snow, off balance, crashed into him. "I found to my surprise that he was level with me," Gavaskar said, "and, with the ball nowhere near him, the hefty fast bowler gave me a violent shove. Now, Snow is well-built fast bowler with strong shoulders, so that poor little me had no chance!" "As I made contact and Gavaskar started to fall, I could sense the shocked silence in the MCC committee room," Snow recalled. "I knew I was going to be in trouble. " Gavaskar was sent sprawling. As he got up, Snow picked up his bat and gently tossed it to him "with not the best will in the world" the Times noted. Gavaskar, though, wrote later that Snow "did not fling it as some newspaper reported". David Constant, the umpire, ambled towards Snow and said: "Come on now, we can't have any of that." It was just one of those things Gavaskar to Snow The over finished and the players headed off. As Snow entered the dressing room he was met by Alec Bedser, the chairman of selectors. "Sorry about that," Snow said. "It was a bit unfortunate wasn't it?" Bedser asked him if he was going to apologise. "Sure," Snow replied. "Just let me get my shirt off and wipe away the sweat." As Snow changed and prepared to head across the pavilion to the Indian dressing room, the door burst open and in stormed a fuming Billy Griffith, secretary of the Test & County Cricket Board (the forerunner of the ECB). "That's the most disgusting thing I've ever seen on a field," he spluttered. Snow explained that he was going to apologise but Griffith wasn't about to let it go at that, and Snow certainly wasn't the kind of man to be bowed by an authority figure such as the MCC secretary. In the end Ray Illingworth, England's captain, had to ask Griffith to leave. As a result of the row, Snow was in no mood to walk through the members to the Indian dressing room, and so he made his apology to Gavaskar when the players returned to the middle. "Sorry about that," he said. "Are you okay?" "Yes," Gavaskar replied. "It was just one of those things." In an era before match referees, that was thought to be the end of it, and according to Snow both Gavaskar and the Indian manag 99/365 Today I wrote an exam, didn't faint from stress, ate sushi, cuddled, and watched the last half of a exceptionally dumb romantic comedy. Craig and I are making a vegan layered vanilla cake with icing right now. I know that cake isn't particularly conducive to weight loss, but it DOES mean that my quality of life is automatically improved. We're also wearing matching American Apparel shirts, ordered from the internets (but from different comics - his is the Sick of Graphs one from PFSC and mine's one of the Exploding Dog ones. I gave that shirt to him for Christmas and I don't think he's taken it off since.) Brendan is sleeping on the couch. I like my roommates a lot. Peace Woman Yes I really did ride to my friends 50th birthday party in this outfit, much to the embarrassment of the neighborhood children. They all left the scene except for one brave boy who pretended he wasn't looking at me as I passed. Everyone else I passed did an artful job of seeming to not see me. It is the suburbs. Peace Woman was, however, a big hit at the party. I arrived just as the belly dancers came on. I made Catherine take the picture and she just about died of embarrassment. What is it the hat or riding a kids toy? (The Xootr is a viable transport machine in its own right.) Outtake? Photographs are snapshots of less than a second of time. They can capture people, animals, special events, a beautiful landscape, and so much more. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and this cliche is absolutely true. Looking at a picture can evoke every emotion known to man...passion, love, happiness, sadness, anger, etc. In our modern life, everyone has some kind of camera and these moments are captured nearly nonstop. With digital cameras we weed through these photos and delete all the non good ones. I take pictures every day and nearly all of them except for a couple will be deleted and a visual history of that moment deleted along with it. My excuse is that I take so many that my kids will still have 100x more of themselves as kids than I have of my childhood. Or that I am responsible for a photo of a certain moment even existing at all so if I never took the shot then there would have never been a picture at all. No biggie if I delete it. I was looking through my shots today and for some reason this ordinary shot of Hannah skateboarding would not let me delete it. There was something visual about it that caused an emotion. I look at it and I see Americana and the good life...skateboarding, white picket fence, a child having fun. I also see the only picture I have, and may ever have, of Hannah skateboarding. Without it, who is to say that she ever skateboarded? I also see her Spaghetti Cat t-shirt she got from a friend at her birthday last week. I am not even sure if she will remember the Spaghetti Cat when she is older but this picture will make her wonder and she will need to know. Anyway, this is an ordinary picture. One of many I have taken but one that luckily has survived the "delete" button. notice anything different? leff's desk is gone! the milk king came by and took it and two sets of shelves! we're now using the dining table for a desk. (i promised to buy leff a new desk once we moved. i can't wait until he finds one that he really likes! :D!) 48/365- friends remember that friends drama? well today we started to talk about it and how we all play a part for each of them. i was pheobe. lol. quite funny. anyway my friends came over for raya as usual. and we got to crap. i was suppose to go out with them today but i was sick. i dont think it is a fever i guess its just fatigue. bit im having bad headaches which makes me sleep most of the day. oh yeah. in the morning i was pretty pissed with my mums comment. she was like. go clean your room. and i said ok.(it was a mess anyway with my camera stuff all over the floor) and then she said something about me not doing the laundry properly and then looking messy and all. and she wants a friend of hers to teach me how to wash properly and to dry properly and fold properly. i was like WTF. i do the chores way better then you. i wash pretty ok. and i definitely hang ok. and most definitely i fold much more better then you. all in my mind but i could speak back to my mum. its rude and well its just very rude. i locked myself up in the room and refused to speak to her. and im not going to do the chores around the house anymore. i admit i have never done them last time so she had to do everything and got sick. hence i just do things which i use. like i do my own laundry etc. this year i changed and try to help out around the house if i could. (well i have no more maid) so that she would feel better and not neglected.( i admit i love my mum alot but at times i really cant stand what she says and her comments. it just really pisses me off alot) oh yeah. i did her laundry for her on that day by the way. because i thought why not i just hang it. also. (my clothes were,t much anyway and to leave the wet clothes in a bundle and not hang them, it would smell) so i went on to be a good daughter and hanged them all up. but what do i get, you never hanged it nicely. im like wtf, at least i hanged it up ok. and she loves to take advangtage of me now. i usually like do some of the chores without her saying and its a little thing. and she would add more to my chores and say do this do that. i really hate it. its like. gah. i hate it. and my morning really went bad. i didnt go with them because i was tired and had a bad migraine. what did i do at home pretty much the whole day? i slept. like a pig. i was really tired and much in pain. so yeah. i also watched quite a few movies today. actually when im not asleep. i was watching shooter and then the borrowers and starship troopers. was wanting to watch part 2 but i fell asleep halfway. lol. and waited for the guys to come. it was quite late when they came here. but only part of them came anyway. and we have school tomorrow by the way. we were crapping and talking(doing what we do best) while i let them taste my mums cooking and all. i ate tthe same dish 3 times. lol. fro breakfast, lunch and dinner. lol. the one in pink is iman. he was from the same team as me in camp. and beside him is farhana who was my classmate in year one semester one. and the one in white faizal was also my classmate in year one sem 1. then in black beside him is syafiq, who is faizals friend. and najib also faizals friend whom i always fight with and whack most of them time. the one on the floor with me, is their primary school friend i just knew him but he seemed like the other guys that i know anyway i sat on the floor because they as usual look so formal and im wearing, um t-shirt and trackpants. lol. i looked horible in this. photo. so sick. haha. anyway im off to slep again. and i hate school tomorrow. they are making us bring a thermometer to school. to train us for this epidemic preparedness. we are to take our temperatures and declare it and then go through the temperature scan. im already always late as it is. imagine waiting in line for it to happen. sheesh. i hate my school now. i feel like skipping school tomorrow but i cant afford to skip school anymore. sheesh. 19/10/08 Day 86/365: Quiet, chilly place As you see above, that is the picture I wore to church today. Simple and nice right ? CORRECTO :) After church, I wanted to go to a quiet place, so I went where I 'proposed' to my best friend HEHE. I needed some alone time which I kinda didn't get considering that it was cold and there were geese making a bunch of noises. Of course, work came along and it wasn't helping my mood. I felt as if we needed more workers to be with us and we were lacking on cookies. I was getting fed up on how the customers were saying but I just kept it cool and I did my own thing. I felt better as the minutes passed by and I felt like giving my friend/manager John company as he was counting money for each of the cashiers. I never stayed at Fudds when there were no more customers and all of the workers left. JEEEZ. It's especially scary when the lights in the place close. I would not like being a manager.. xD. Mar 27, 2011. PS. Sorry that I've been talking about my job lately.. that's what I've been doing for most of my weekend. On top of that, I have work AGAIN tomorrow. FANTABULOUS !
