workroom 18 workroom concrete floor poured
The old garage sloped down for drainage but the floor in the new garage attached to it was poured two inches higher. To bring the workroom floor even with the new garage floor, we had to pour cement to even out part of the workroom floor.

BAMBOO FLOORING GLUE : BAMBOO FLOORING
Bamboo Flooring Glue : Activa Flooring : Natural Flooring
Bamboo Flooring Glue
- Bamboo floors are manufactured from the bamboo plant. The majority of today's bamboo flooring products originate in China and other portions of Asia. The species of bamboo used for flooring is commonly known as "Moso".
- is a product of fast-growing trees and is more sustainable and durable than traditional wood floors.
- join or attach with or as if with glue; "paste the sign on the wall"; "cut and paste the sentence in the text"
- be fixed as if by glue; "His eyes were glued on her"
- An adhesive substance used for sticking objects or materials together
- cement consisting of a sticky substance that is used as an adhesive

What is bamboo? What are its advantages?
Bamboo is the fastest-growing woody plant on Earth.
It’s as durable as hardwood, even though the plant is technically in the grass family.
It grows incredibly fast. Under the right soil and climate conditions, bamboo can grow as much as 1.5 to 2 inches per hour.
While an oak tree may require 120 years to grow to maturity, some species of bamboo can be harvested in three years’ time.
Bamboo offers many green benefits. Environmental Building News sums it up thus: “It’s hard to argue with a wood substitute that matures in three years, regenerates without need for replanting, and requires minimal fertilization or pesticides.”
As a result, bamboo is recognized as a green material under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) building certification.
What bamboo facts will impress my friends at the next holiday cocktail party?
Bamboo produces up to 35% more oxygen than hardwood trees and absorbs four times as much carbon.
Owing to its high nitrogen consumption, growing Bamboo can detoxify wastewater and improve soil quality.
Bamboo also has natural anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.
Where does bamboo grow; how long has it been cultivated?
Most bamboo flooring comes from the Hunan province of China.
Bamboo has been used as flooring, paper, and medicines for approximately 5,000 years in Asia.
More than 6 million people in China are employed in the bamboo industry and 600 million people worldwide rely on income from it.
Do pandas eat the same kind of bamboo that we use?
No, the Moso species of bamboo—the kind used for flooring—is not a food source for giant and red pandas.
Bamboo comprises up to 99 percent of the giant panda’s diet. And because of bamboo’s relatively low nutritional value, a single panda can spend up to 16 hours a day eating as much as 40 pounds of the stuff. Yum!
However, pandas in the wild are suffering from shrinking habitat and food supply on account of human population increase and land development.
How is bamboo flooring made? What are its properties?
Bamboo poles are first sliced into strips, steamed to make them more flexible, then flattened and glued together. Finally, bamboo is finished with a protective UV coat.
Natural color variations develop through pressure steaming, a process called carbonization, which gives it a light brown tone without application of dyes or artificial finish.
Because the color is achieved by heating and not by staining, the longer it heats the softer bamboo becomes. Therefore, the darker the color, the softer the final product.
Because it is a native tropical plant, bamboo by its very makeup resists moisture; thus bamboo flooring expands and contracts less than do hardwood floors.
What are the environmental and health concerns about bamboo?
While some people describe bamboo as a true wonder plant, it isn’t. There’s no such thing.
The first concern is the use of non-sustainable growing practices; some growers use pesticides and fertilizers; others harvest using clear-cut techniques, encouraging monoculture and threatening biodiversity.
The second issue is that most bamboo flooring is laminated using urea-formaldehyde (UF) adhesives, which emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that are harmful to our health and unfriendly to the atmosphere—the planet.
The third potential problem is the use of dyes that may employ heavy metals and other toxic substances.
The fourth concern is that there is no Fair Trade certification for bamboo yet, so there is no way to guarantee that a given bamboo product was produced with fair wages and conditions for the workers.
The fifth question is transportation. Most bamboo flooring is shipped from China, as against a consideration for local sourcing

CONFESSIONS ON A DANCEFLOOR. CONFESSIONS ON
Confessions On A Dancefloor. Insulating Concrete Floor. Wood Floor Grates
Confessions On A Dancefloor
- Confessions on a Dance Floor is the tenth studio album by American recording artist Madonna. It was released on November 15, 2005 by Warner Bros. Records. The album was a complete departure from her last studio album, American Life (2003).
Madonna--Confessions on a Dancefloor
Never was a Madonna fan until I heard her most recent CD. Never was a techno fan until I heard this. Madonna really showed out on this one. It's consistently up-beat, and I like that.

Vintage Retro 50s Floor Tile Asbestos Kentile Sample - Edge Detail
Example detail image of chrysotile fibers in vintage, asbestos floor tile sales-sample representing Kentile-brand asphalt tile directly from its carton container. This close-up view depicts fibrous asbestos material protruding from an outer edge of the tile.
Many asbestos-containing asphalt and vinyl floor tile materials usually comprise very finely dispersed asbestos content too tiny for naked-eye observation. In fact, minute asbestos fiber within some tile are so problematic during certain laboratory analysis, even special standardized microscopic asbestos-identification methods (e.g.- PLM) sometimes have difficulty properly identifying and quantifying the asbestos content and must further rely upon more sophisticated analytical techniques, such as transmission electron-microscopy (TEM) for more definitive test results.
However, as shown, this particular product floor tile brand/style demonstrates obvious visible fiber bundles (identified as chrysotile asbestos) and even some miscellaneous, finer granular mineral particles upon careful, close examination.
The small, 3-inch square KENTILE floor tile sample contains imprinted product-data labeling on its reverse-side indicating a mottle-pattern called: "Random Tones", and a manufacture date of April-1957.

familyroom floor, stage 1
Introduction to the project: The carpet in my familyroom is pretty lousy and needs to be replaced with a Marmoleum floating floor. But before that can happen, there's the matter of some bad wood on one end of the room that needs to be replaced. Also, I have so much crap in this room (it's my library) and nowhere to put it that the plan is to start flooring from the door forward, then with half the room tiled move stuff over to the first half and continue on with the rest of the room.
Let's skip past the original beige carpet and the ripping-it-out steps. The big moldy stain at the right-center is from the freezer chest's condensation, and hiding under the refuse box at the top end is massive pet urine stains (plenty of my own, bad Cheddar, but he was lead there by previous piddling). I did the ripping out of the old carpet, oh, a month ago so it's about time I put some momentum into this project. I need somewhere to put the livingroom chair that sits where I put the Christmas tree!

Self Portrait 365 project | Day 187 [Explored]
My kids put a folded mattress up-side-down and crawled into it pretend it's a tent. Why can't I put a bed sheet over my tripod and camp in there. A little bit cramp, but that will do. Just a practise for tomorrow camping trip! Yohoo! We're going to Fraser Island for 3 days. Stress? What stress?!
----------------------------------------------------------
No flash was used in this shot. I have a floor lamp at the background behind the tent. And a TV front of me. It's quite interesting the TV light actually gave this pic a moonlight effect.

The guys (my husband and sons) were working hard on the bedroom floor to prepare it for laminate flooring. They were working with one tungsten light bulb until Mom came in and ::gasp:: opened the curtains! But before opening the curtains I took a tungsten shot of the staple remover just for my TDS photo.

Wilton House Wiltshire
Wilton House is an English country house situated at Wilton near Salisbury in Wiltshire. It has been the country seat of the Earls of Pembroke for over 400 years.
The first recorded building on the site of Wilton House was of a priory founded by King Egbert circa 871. This priory later due to the munificence of King Alfred was granted lands and manors until it became a powerful and wealthy abbey. However, by the time Wilton Abbey was dissolved during the Dissolution of the Monasteries by King Henry VIII of England, its prosperity was already on the wane — following the seizure of the abbey King Henry then presented it and the estates to William Herbert, 1st Earl of Pembroke (in the 1551 creation) in c.1544.
William Herbert
The East front of Wilton, photographed by Queen Alexandra circa 1907. The central tower is all that remains of the Tudor house.William Herbert, the scion of a distinguished family in the Welsh marches, was a favourite of the King. Following a recommendation to King Henry by King Francis I of France, whom Herbert had served as a soldier of fortune, Herbert was granted arms after only two years. Returning to England circa 1543, Herbert married Anne, daughter of Sir Thomas Parr of Kendal and sister of King Henry's last Queen, Catherine Parr. The granting of an estate such as the Abbey of Wilton to Herbert was an accolade and evidence of his position at court.
Herbert immediately began to transform the deserted abbey into a fine house and symbol of his wealth. It had been thought that the old abbey had been completely demolished; however, following renovations after World War II traces of the old abbey were found at lower levels of the existing walls.
[edit] Hans Holbein
It has long been claimed, without proof, that Hans Holbein the Younger re-designed the abbey into the rectangular house around a central courtyard, which is the core of the present house. Holbein died in 1543, so his designs for the new house would have to have been very speedily executed indeed. However, the great entrance porch to the new mansion, removed from the house and later transformed into a garden pavilion in the 19th century to this day is known as the "Holbein Porch" — a perfect example of the blending of the older Gothic and the brand-new Renaissance style. If not by Holbein, it is certainly by the hand of a great master.
Whoever the architect, nevertheless a great mansion arose. Today only one other part of the Tudor mansion survives: the great tower in the centre of the east facade. With its central arch (once giving access to the court beyond) and three floors of oriel windows above, the tower is slightly reminiscent of the entrance at Hampton Court. Flanked today by two wings in a loose Georgian style — each topped by an Italianate pavilion tower, this Tudor centrepiece of the facade appears not in the least incongruous, merely displaying the accepted appearance of a great English country house, which has evolved over the centuries.
Inigo Jones
Engraving of Wilton HouseThe Tudor house built by William Herbert, 1st Earl of Pembroke in 1551 was to last but eighty years. On the succession of the 4th Earl in 1630, he decided to pull down the southern wing and erect a new complex of staterooms in its place. It is now the second great name associated with Wilton appears: that of Inigo Jones.
The architecture of the south front is in severe Palladian style, described at the time as in the 'Italian Style'; built of the local stone, softened by climbing shrubs, it is quintessentially English to our eyes today. While the remainder of the house is on three floors of equal value in the English style, the South Front has a low rusticated ground floor, almost suggesting a semi-basement. Three small porches project at this level only, one at the centre, and one at each end of the facade, providing small balconies to the windows above. The next floor is the piano nobile, at its centre the great double height Venetian window, ornamented at second floor level by the Pembroke arms in stone relief. This central window is flanked by four tall sash windows on each side. These windows have low flat pediments. Each end of the facade is defined by 'corner stone' decoration giving a suggestion that the single-bay wings project forward. The single windows here are topped by a true pointed pediment. Above this floor is a further almost mezzanine floor, its small, unpedimented, windows aligning with the larger below, serve to emphasise the importance of the piano nobile. The roofline is hidden by a balustrade. Each of the terminating 'wings' is crowned by a one storey, pedimented tower resembling a Palladian pavilion. One must remember this style was a revolution in England at the time, a mere thirty years previously Montacute House had been in an amazing new style; and only a century earlier the juxtaposing mass of unplanned wings that is Compton Wynyates was just being completed.

Philcade Lobby, Downtown Tulsa
The Philcade Building is significant for its interior art work, its architectural design, and its association with the developing oil industry. The interior ground floor arcades of the building are surprisingly lavish. Pilasters of fluted and polished St. Genevieve marble support an ornamental plaster frieze covered with gold leaf at the mezzanine level. From this plaster frieze, arches form a ceiling that is also covered with gold leaf and hand painted with geometric designs executed in muted tones of red, blue, green, purple, and brown, the favored colors of the Art Deco period. These designs display the Zigzag Art Deco style of this era. An elaborate, bronze-filigreed chandelier is suspended from the center of each design. The ceiling treatment is complemented by the mahogany, glass, and bronze detailed store front units and the tan and black terrazzo floor.
The ground floor, mezzanine, and the second floors were originally arcades supporting commercial activities. This area of the facade is covered with a richly carved terra cotta and cast iron veneer. The terra cotta detail at the second level and at each corner reveals a passion for stylized flora and fauna. Each entrance to the building is flanked by fluted Egyptian Revival columns which terminate at a papyrus-reed inspired terra cotta beam. The large, ground-level showcase windows and entrances are very formal. The veneer for the office areas of this building, starting at the third-floor level and ending at the roof line, is a very rhythmic treatment of brick and large steel double-hung windows. The building is a prime example of the Art Deco movement in Tulsa which ended, for the most part, with the start of the Great Depression. Its durability is now unquestioned, and its excesses continue to delight the eye.
Waite Phillips, the building’s first owner, played a very important role in the history of Oklahoma oil. The building also served as headquarters for many developing oil companies and individuals connected with the oil industry. Many of these companies and their descendants are still active in the Oklahoma oil industry today.
The Philcade Building was listed in the National Register on September 18, 1986. It was listed under National Register Criterion C, and its NRIS number is 86002196.

Side view of "old jail"
View of north side of jail.
The brick building was the governor's residence, where he and his family lived. The small attached one-storey building to its right/north was his car garage.
Just beyond the small white addition is the turn-key's door to his residence.
Sometime, around the 1960's, the governor was replaced by the sherriff and his family. There are people who still remember visiting here and associating with his children.
By the time of our arrival (1987), the sherriff and his family were long gone (possibly when the province took over aound 1976). The main floor had become offices and the upstairs bedrooms were occupied by those serving weekend sentences. These two activities continue to this day. The tiny garage was being used as a workshop. It is now a fully equipped machine shop with compressors, welders, etc.
