Our Beautiful Haley Ann I can not even believe it but my baby girl is NOW ARMY CRAWLING and has been for awhile now. She definitely gets where she wants to go. She rocks back and forth, rolls constantly, and enjoys doing her version of an army crawl. At this rate she will be walking in a couple months. OH MY GOD. In the last couple weeks she has started saying "Mama", can you say heart melting?! We have no idea if she REALLY associates that word with me but I will take it anyway. Wow. It is amazing. It took Austin like TWO FREAKING years to say my name ha ha. She also says "Ga" a lot and "Ba" for bottle we think. She loves sticking her tongue out. She loves getting tickled. Her hair is getting a lot longer. Long enough that it is fuzzy and moves. OMG SOOOO CUTE. She loves sitting on furniture like a big girl. She loves watching her crazy brothers. OMG. She LOVES them and they love her. Nathan and Haley especially have an amazing bond. She loves dancing with Daddy every night on his knees. She is the best baby dancer EVER. *grin* She really loves her exersaucer and still enjoys her bouncer and swing from time to time. She like NEVER sleeps during the day. She can go from 5 or 6 am to 10 pm without sleeping more than a hour. OMG soooooo tiring for me but our kids have never been long sleepers. None of them. She is following her brothers in that aspect. For her entire fifth month she slept really good at night, I MEAN HELLO! the girl doesn't sleep at all, all day long. She normally goes to bed anywhere between 9 or 10 and wakes up around 5 or 6 for the day. About half the time she will wake up once for a feeding. She is still wearing 3-6 months and 6-9 months clothing. She is now taking 6 ounce bottles. She is my last baby and I am SOOOOO not in hurry for her to grow up so I have yet to start her on cereal. I know I know. Oh well they usually say to start that between 3 and 6 months so I am right at the cut off. ha ha. We need to start feeding her cereal ASAP. The girl is always looking for books and paper to eat. That is usually what she is on the look out for when she is rolling around and army crawling on the floor. She is an amazing HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY baby. It just warms our hearts so very much knowing how HAPPY she is. She is our little angel dolly. That's for sure. Day Eighty I used up the last of her apples for breakfast this morning. She was fine with them topped up with apple juice and cereal, here's hoping that she'll be ok with just cereal tomorrow mixed with apple juice. I hope so. I also used nearly all of the bottles today as well so I'll not only have to clean bottle but chop apples and pears and such. She didn't nap at all really today, a minute or two on the skytrain and maybe 30 minutes in the car ride home. But yeah we went out to see Brandi at work again. We took the skytrain out and stopped at Imperial Hobbies as they were having a sale. I picked up some D&D stuff for 25% off so I was keen on that. We visited a bunch at Brandi's work and then went up for lunch at the terminal. Isobel had a grand time flirt with all Brandi's co-workers. We headed home and picked up some groceries on the way, as well rented a couple games as Brandi needs some idea what to get me for my birthday. Also picked up Confessions of a Shopaholic (for Brandi) and The Reader (Naked Kate Winslet!!). Brandi bought a screamer for part of her dinner and fed Isobel some of the ice cream. She was very happy and yummed it up a lot. She would yell at Brandi if she didn't have any ice cream in her mouth. We had a bath and some naked time and then Isobel went to bed pretty easily. We stayed up and played some video games and Brandi knocked off earlier than I did. I'm going to bed super late >_> Oh and I nearly forgot. Last night Brandi went to sleep in the spare room as Isobel wasn't going down at all. I stay in the main bed and watched her crawl around and babble for like an hour before she went to bed. One of the reasons she took so long is that she was playing with our venetian blinds which I kept saying "No!" to. She would kind of look back in that "who me?" way. Now our bed has no frame, it's a foam mattress on a coil mattress on a box spring. It's about an inch higher than our window sill. She had one hand on the foam and one hand reaching up to grab the blinds (Daddy said No baby!!!) and her hand slipped, she did a faceplant on the window sill. Waaa!!!! Brandi rushed in and breast fed her to calm her down and bolted. Isobel still tried to get at the blinds...what am I going to do with that girl?? Raleigh Exotic Animal Show Baby guinea pigs, being sold by the same lovely people with the backyard bred yorkies. I was informed by a bored booth vendor that they were "about" 8 weeks old, and were of mixed sex. Which practically guarantees that all females in the bunch are pregnant. Some of the babies were clearly only 1-2 weeks old. ALL of them had thin fur and signs of mites. They were fighting tooth and nail in that small of a space, and screaming constantly. Next to them, in a same sized container, a baby dutch rabbit was for sale. It was dropped on it's head by a child with an inattentive parent. They caught it and put it back into the tupperware. I told the booth's vendor, and they seemed not to care. good first day of summer vacation i got a new baby today!!! but she/he isnt a hamham :3 i went to the petstore to look around and pet the animals and saw that a guinea pig was for sale, cage and all, for only 20$ so my sister said shed get it for me. my dad said get it and my mom was pissed that i did but she's over it now cuz the piggy is so cute she couldnt resist See also: baby music class baby d atl hoe baby in parents bed baby bjorn bouncer why are black babies born white free crochet baby pattern baby invitation shower ashanti baby music video baby monitor sounds |

BABY POOP HARD : POOP HARD
BABY POOP HARD : ORGANIC BABY BOTTLES : BABY SHOWER DECORATIONS FOR GIRL. Baby Poop Hard
Anthology Dismissed as a one-hit heavy breather after her orgasmic dance-floor sensation "Love to Love You Baby" became a worldwide pop chart-topper, Donna Summer has made a career of confounding expectations. This double-disc set gets all the highlights, from the definitive synthesizer pop of "I Feel Love" through the disco diva of "On the Radio" to the proto dance-rock of "Bad Girls" and "Hot Stuff" to the gospel-inflected "She Works Hard for the Money" and the pop uplift of "This Time I Know It's for Real." Plus, of course, "No More Tears," her duet with Barbra Streisand, is a credential not bestowed upon one-hit wonders. --Ben Edmonds (7) baby toes!!!!! I did my first official newborn shoot for one of my best friends and her baby the other weekend and I'm finally finishing up with the editing process. As my friend put it, I was "baptized by fire". As soon as we took her diaper off and I picked her up she peed all over me and the floor. I just laughed and cleaned myself up. Baby started fussing a bit so I sat down and rocked her until she calmed down. She made a gurgling sound and immediately pooped in my hand. My friend was mortified and I of course laughed so hard I had tears rolling down my face. My friend decided that she would just have to deal with diapers in her pictures because she couldn't sit by and watch me be "baptized by fire" any longer. I told her that I figured we were in the clear now! ...I was wrong. She fired again. Up my arm and down my pants. I had so much mascara rolling down my face, I looked like Alice Cooper. Needless to say the baby is sporting a diaper in all her pictures and I have a great story to tell her first boyfriend!!! Baby Bird This is a (not great) picture of our resident baby blackbirds very first outing! He managed to do quite a bit of damage while he was testing his wings, he got in our garage and pooped over absolutely everything :-/ again it was very windy, so it was hard to focus on him as the wind kept ruffling his feathers, hence the huge amount of blur. In antiquity, Nile crocodiles occurred in the Nile delta and the Zarqa River (Jordan), and they are recorded by Herodotus to have inhabited Lake Moeris. They are thought to have become extinct in the Seychelles in the early 19th century. It is known from fossil remains that they once inhabited Lake Edward. The Nile crocodile's current range of distribution extends from the Senegal River, Lake Chad, Wadai and the Sudan to the Cunene and the Okavango Delta. In Madagascar, crocodiles occur in the western and southern parts from Sembirano to Port Dauphin. They have occasionally been spotted in Zanzibar and the Comoros. Until recently, many permanent waters in the Sahara still housed relict populations. In West Africa, Nile crocodiles are found most frequently in coastal lagoons, estuaries, and in the rivers bordering the equatorial forest belt. In East Africa, they are found mostly in rivers, lakes, marshes, and dams. They have been known to enter the sea in some areas, with one specimen having been seen 11 km off St Lucia Bay in 1917. In Madagascar, they have adapted to living in caves. Nile crocodiles have a dark bronze colouration above, with black spots on the back and a dirty purple on the belly. The flanks, which are yellowish green in colour, have dark patches arranged in oblique stripes. There is some variation relative to environment; specimens from swift flowing waters tend to be lighter in colour than those dwelling in lakes or swamps. They have green eyes. Like all crocodiles, they are quadrupeds with four short, splayed legs; long, powerful tails; a scaly hide with rows of ossified scutes running down their back and tail; and powerful jaws. They have nictitating membranes to protect their eyes and have lachrymal glands, and can cleanse their eyes with tears. Nostrils, eyes, and ears are situated on the tops of their head, so the rest of the body can remain concealed underwater. Their coloration also helps them hide: Juveniles are grey, multicoloured, or brown; with darker cross-bands on their tail and body. As they mature they become darker and the cross-bands fade, especially those on the body. The underbelly is yellowish, and makes high-quality leather. They normally crawl along on their bellies, but they can also "high walk" with their trunks raised above the ground. Smaller specimens can gallop, and even larger crocodiles are capable of surprising bursts of speeds, briefly reaching up to 12 to 14 km/h (7.5 to 8.5 mi/h). They can swim much faster by moving their body and tail in a sinuous fashion, and they can sustain this form of movement much longer at about 30 to 35 km/h (18 to 22 mi/h). They have a three-chambered heart which is often mistaken as four-chambered due to an elongated cardiac septum, which is physiologically similar to the four chambered heart of a bird, which is especially efficient at oxygenating their blood. They normally dive for only a couple of minutes, but will stay underwater for up to 30 minutes if threatened, and if they remain inactive they can hold their breath for up to 2 hours. They have an ectothermic metabolism, so they can survive a long time between meals — though when they do eat, they can eat up to half their body weight at a time. They have a rich vocal range, and good hearing. Their skin has a number of poorly understood integumentary sense organs (ISOs), that may react to changes in water pressure. The bite force exerted by an adult Nile crocodile has been shown by Dr. Brady Barr to measure 5,000 lbf (22 kN). However, the muscles responsible for opening the mouth are exceptionally weak, allowing a man to easily hold them shut with a small amount of force. Their mouths are filled with a total of 64 to 68 cone-shaped teeth. On each side of the mouth, there are 5 teeth in the front of the upper jaw (the premaxilla), 13 or 14 in the rest of the upper jaw (the maxilla), and 14 or 15 on either side of the lower jaw (the mandible). Hatchlings quickly lose a hardened piece of skin on the top of their mouth called the egg tooth, which they use to break through their egg's shell at birth. Outside water crocodiles can meet concurrence with other dominant Savanna predators, notably felines such as lions and leopards. Occasionally, both will hunt and prey on each other, depending on size, if regular food becomes scarce. The Nile crocodile possesses unique predation behavior characterized by the ability of preying both within its natural habitat (where it is the apex predator) and out of its normal range, which often results in unpredicted attacks on almost any other animal equal or smaller in size. In the water, where the only possible threat the Nile crocodile can meet are species of its own kind, it is an agile and rapid hunter relying on both movement and pressure sensors MOVEMENT turnatables 1 Movement (weekly challenge). A Is for Atticus: Baby Names from Great Books Pick up a celebrity magazine and you'll see that the art of naming babies has reached new heights of self-expression, with recent choices like Shiloh, Sailor, Apple, and notably, Elijah Bob Patricius Guggi Q. Hewson. Baby namers today want monikers that reflect something personal. Where better to draw inspiration than the books you cherish and the characters you love? A IS FOR ATTICUS mines the classics for the best names and brings them all into one volume. Unlike massive baby name books, which offer endless, dry lists with cursory dictionary definitions, each of the carefully selected names (including Beckett after the Irish playwright Samuel Beckett and Esme from J.D. Salinger's For Esme with Love and Squalor) is fully profiled in a fun, savvy, info-packed listing that includes a name's meaning, uniqueness, modern appeal, and cultural significance. Helpful sidebars guide you to the perfect name for your perfect baby. (12) My Last Baby For those of you who don't know, this is Dalton. He is the sweetest, happiest little guy ever. Each time I think I have a happy baby, I go and have an even happier one! Lol. It isn't until they get older that they become more difficult. If they all stayed babies, I'd have a few more. Ha. I have been blessed with five wonderful kids, and I am finally finished! :) Baby the Capuchin Baby is named as such because, although hardly a young monkey, he still sucks his thumb. Most likely this is a result of isolated captivity during his younger years (before he was brought to the park). Baby is a pickpocket and a camera-breaker. Shrinking workers wages in USA under Pro Israeli/Zionist Unionized Politicians of America Israeli slaves Unionized Gangsters posing as Political Leaders, Bureaucrats, Judiciary, Religious, Media & Business Leaders are ruling USA. Out of the $3.8Tril US annual budget $1.5T is being spent to keep the Israeli/Zionist Masters happy on unnecessary wars & 153 Military bases around the world so that they can keep their illegal occupation of Palestinian land & continue with their on going human genocide of Palestinians since 1948. Since 2001 US forces are helping Zionist in Afghanistan which produces 95% of the world opium to control the world Drug trade besides their control on world banking, media, human body parts trading and military hardware & technology trading. Reps and Dems both work exclusively for the top 1%-2% income group that receives 36% of the annual national income and owns 94% of the nation's assets. The net worth of these top earners is increasing by $17 trillions every 10 years. In last 10 years oil companies alone made over a $1 trillion in profits. US Corporations have managed to achieve prosperity without anyone else having any prosperity by over pricing their services & products as well as without paying taxes on their earnings. The average American’s earning has gone down by 35% in real terms in these 10 years because of high taxes, medical & other insurances, high cost of education, utilities, gas, Federal & local business licences, banking and other services etc. provided by US Corporations. The average household net worth is now less than what it was in 1945. Today in America there are 50M people on food stamps, 20M unemployed & 30M underemployed who can not put adequate food on the table for their families. Over 5.5M homes have been foreclosed in 2009-10. Close to 50% of babies are born to women who are actually poor. Far too many children who are the future of US are turning up at school hungry, poorly dressed & unfit to study because of rising poverty. What kind of education will these people get? What kind of Leadership they will provide to their country or the world? Still America wants to spend $1.5T out of its $3.8T budget on policing the world and unnecessary wars to promote Zionist interest. So many crooks from the gang of Unionized Gangsters with conflicting agendas to loot the country have joined together with two common goals; first to serve/benefit Israel/Zionist and second to enrich themselves are in perfect unison. The American Political Philharmonic Orchestra of Unionized Gangsters must be the world’s most amazing cacophony of rogues, rascals and robbers. US Politicians, Judiciary, Media, Religious & Business Leaders are more loyal than dogs to their Israelis/Zionist Masters. I wish this loyalty they had for Americans & America; we would have avoided $15Tril debt, 911, 50 mil people on food stamps, 20 mil unemployed & 30 mil under employed. Desert Rose, my wife says this is really a camel and not a baby elephant, but we agreed that it's a rock! Ha Ha! Monzogranites (MGr) are biotite granite rocks that are considered to be the final fractionation product of magma. Monzogranites are characteristically felsic (SiO2 > 73%, and FeO + MgO + TiO2 < 2.4), weakly peraluminous (Al2O3/ (CaO + Na2O + K2O) = 0.98 - 1.11), and contain ilmenite, sphene, apatite and zircon as accessory minerals. Although the compositional range of the monzogranites is small, it defines a differentiation trend that is essentially controlled by biotite and plagioclase fractionation. (Fagiono, 2002). Monzogranites can be divided into two groups (magnesio-potassic monzogranite and ferro-potassic monzogranite) and are further categorized into rock types based on their macroscopic characteristics, melt characteristics, specific features, available isotopic data, and the locality in which they are found. IRISH BABY NAME. BABY NAME
IRISH BABY NAME. CHEAP BABY OUTFITS. STROLLERS FOR TWO BABIES. Irish Baby Name
Collins Gem Irish Babies' Names: Meanings, Pronounciation and Spellings Collins Gem Babies Names is number one in the best-selling stakes. Meet its Irish cousin! This detailed guide to more than 2,000 of the most popular Irish first names is the ideal gift for anyone wishing to choose an Irish name for their child, or interested in finding out a bit more about their own name. Irish names are spreading across the world. As well as being more common in Ireland, they now feature in most English-speaking countries of the world. The reason for this spread is not hard to find. Massive emigration, especially during the 19th century famines, left many people of Irish descent in Britain, the U. S., Canada, and Australia. These emigrants often had to give up the Irish language in favor of English, but they took their names with them, gave them to their children, and spread them in the new countries. Indeed some, such as Brian, are now so well-established that they are no longer considered Irish. Others have developed strong associations with their new countries, so that Oscar is sometimes thought of as Scandinavian, Barry and Sheila are associated with Australia, and for most people Darren is American. What then is an Irish name? In this book a very broad view is taken, with special attention paid to what has happened to names after they left Ireland. The names come from Gaelic (and are given in Gaelic and in an anglicized form), from translations from Irish forms of non-Irish names and from Irish surnames and words. (13) DSCF1043 this weekends i slept a lot. baby's mother, ema, tentatively separated her and our baby from me for days, and i got clear my departure from her was set. i hated to leave my baby son any moment, and the evil family of ema's, gathered strength these days to persuade her holding baby as her owning and prevent my holding dear to baby sooner the better. in most broking-heart moment i pray to God that he should know the demon, but in peace i know no one can alert the judge of Final. who owns, who has, who lost, all inscription. these days i felt burning upon the moment which gathering momentum after my girls in need of me, their bride and master in house as well as in world, sending me lunar new year's gift to let me equipped myself with my first camera and notebook, and new and first shoes in years, of reunited with my most beloved. i don't know where they r and how far we remotely contacted, but my balance was shaky with concerns with my awaiting sweat-hearts. i hope i can enjoyed living with my girl, zhou, masheng, while seeing my baby son under eyelids, till he start his journey necessary and independent on the earth. today in ema's house, i can't evade her softened attitude to me but i gradually made it that i don't belong to her, no matter how she recognize the fact. i belong to my Empire. never ema's dirty family can bargain with, including my baby son, the God. i don't want to hurt her, including her insults all years in my time unpolished and beneath under earth in the past ten and more years in Qiqihar, the eccentric place i don't like. who said i don't like snow? its again a saint moment of being baptized and saved by her, with her beautiful snow-white. dirty to dissolved in soil and hidden to be ignited like diamond. in the afternoon and night i was remind that my once beloved, girl Fang, now acted actively behind the scene. what she can get from me, i had laid it in my announcement in my google groups, like benzyrnill or faezrland, in the moment before i left Qiqihar to my home town last time in end of 2006, after my grand dad left me and my baby son admitted my absence in Qiqihar then. its a painful time but i never walk backward. its time for sleep, in this silent room, after baby slept earlier tonight and shifted by his mom and herself to our bedroom. God, u see my beloved girls, that's my life i put in u. look after them and wait me to re-bloom here or in another place. i oath i will take u all in my arms and under the crown. i oath i m ur God and bride forever, proud as the Godfather. God, just take me away to the palace i should in, and live with my pleasure and eye-candies. i never look back. November 28 The first full day home. Adventures, exhaustion and Slightly fewer guests. After a VERY long first night, Julie managed to get about 2 hours of sleep by 6am, and she then let me sleep for 3 1/2. Gail and Jack came by in the morning. Heather and Dan stopped in briefly with their little girl Zoe, before I made a quick lunch for Julie and her parents (chicken fried rice and baby bok choy). Jack and Gail left and I cleaned up. Not surprisingly, my sleep-deprivation-addled brain finds itself unable to remember what we did until Toby, Matt, Mary and Justin stopped by in the late-afternoon/early-evening. Oh right, I tried to do some video editing for a while. Complete failure. So I took some pictures of the kid. After Mary and Justin stayed for my son's first sponge bath at home (this was sort of oddly stressful for me—I kept thinking I might be getting water in his ears... I didn't), Julie and I ate some leftover turkey that my parents brought us yesterday and watched the "Happiest Baby On The Block" DVD, which frankly has terrible production values: awful lighting, telegraphed music, handheld interview shots, etc. But it was really helpful in explaining how to swaddle effectively. I am still waiting for the official announcement before I declare his name to the world at large, but I offer up this first clear shot my new baby boy. Mainly because I couldn't come up with any more excuses not to. Like I said, the editing is going SLOOOW. I wish I had more brain power. And a bit more time between feedings! But we did manage to get two hours of sleep together just now while the baby napped... progress! I actually have a legitimate excuse for not taking pictures lately. First, I accidentally left my camera in the backseat of my boyfriend's car and he went back to his apartment 3 hours away from me. Then, shortly after I got it back from him, I went hiking with a friend and left it in the backseat of his car... you'd think I'd learn my lesson, but no, apparently not. I just got it back today. It's been a weird year for me. I keep thinking I have it all figured out - what I want to do, who I want to be, where I'm going to school, you name it - and then all of a sudden, nothing makes any sense again. I feel like I keep going back to square one, and I'm at the point where I absolutely HAVE to make some decisions. Also, I'm turning 18 next Saturday, and I feel weird even writing that. I sound like an old person saying this, but honestly, I feel like I was just 6 years old the other day, sitting on top of the monkey bars and watching my brothers climb trees in Alabama.. or buying baby clothes from garage sales to dress my dolls in (I had quite a collection). It seems like everyone else just grows up and it doesn't even phase them, but me, I'm making every decision 100 times and I just want to crawl into bed and listen to my mommy read me bedtime stories again. As for this picture, I don't know why, but I took it today and for some reason it seemed meaningful to me right now. I guess I'm just sitting here, watching for something to pop out at me and scream "THIS IS WHAT YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO DO, DO IT!" even though I know that's not how life works. July 7: Lil Monkey Set Finished! Of course, I forgot to measure it so I have no idea how big it is. But it's laid out on a full bed, so that should give you some idea. This was a quick & easy project. One thing that I do wish I'd done was look more closely at the colors called for -- I wrote them down and one wasn't available, so I went by the name and ordered what I thought would be OK. I guessed wrong, and what looks light brown in the photos should have been done in a cream, and I think that would really help make it pop. Looks a little bit muddy as it is. pop monkey baby bedding Gender neutral 10 pc set; soft beige ground with blue , mocha, chocolate, green, yellow and toasted orange come together in a very sweet print of circles and dots. Knowing she liked Kaffe Fassett’s paperweight fabric, I bought several yards of it and set about designing a quilt block to show it off. My first attempts were disastrously boring, so I folded the blocks into different shapes and held them up in front of different fabrics in my stash. In the end, I cut the old blocks into thirds and surrounded them with rectangles of color. I found the end result quite pleasing and have been playing with variations on this quilt for a while now. Traffic Baby Quilt Back Another baby quilt to add to the mix. Inspired by Denyse Schmidt, Ashley from Film in the Fridge, and Joelle Hoverson's Last-Minute Patchwork and Quilted Gifts. I should also say that I am sad to see them go out of business. ROAD RECORDS IS CLOSING DOWN ! How do I begin a piece like this, without repeating everything I wrote nearly two years ago now. I suppose I would have to say its with great sadness to inform you we are finally closing the doors of Road Records. Its been a difficult two years since we first faced the prospects of closure and we have literally worked night and day to try and see if we could save the shop and make it a viable business again. The current economic situation in this country added to the many problems we faced in the past have finally caught up with us and we can no longer sustain this little shop. This time, I am sad to say, there is no alternative for us, we have literally tried everything in our powers to keep this place operating and nothing has worked for us. It hasn't been an easy decision to make, if anything its even more difficult than two years ago, we have had amazing support from people but nothing we do seems to work anymore. With debts beginning to build again Julie and myself have finally decided that we cannot take any more risks personally and before things get any worse we will have to finally walk away from the shop for the last time. I have to say I still have no regrets about the last 13 years, its been a real blast and a pleasure to be here over the years. We have met some amazing people and have become friends with some truly amazing bands. The level of support we have received since last year has been truly mindblowing but so much has changed economically since then that its just not possible to sustain such a small record shop like this anymore. I am not going to give out about the music business this time around, its just one of those things and we have finally come to a stage where I think the days of the small indie store are numbered. Its sad to have to admit that but this time I think its true, we cant blame digital sales, illegal downloading etc, the world is a changing place and I cant see any room in it for kooky little indie stores like ourselves. We will be starting our closing down sale this Saturday [17th July] and everything will be on sale at a 25% reduction. We will be open for just one more week after that with the final day being Saturday 24th of July. Literally everything will be going on sale so if you want to pick up a cheap stereo, cash register or stapler, then do drop in. We would both like to thank each and everyone of you for your support over the years, maybe we will catch up at some point in the future. We would also like to thank all our wonderful staff from the last 14 years, in person they are Dylan, Jonny, Jimmy, Gib, Colm, John, Chip and Aengus. As for what we will do next, the honest answer is we really dont know, hopefully we can pay off any debts we have and then at least we have a beautiful little baby boy to try and put a smile back on our faces. Thanks & Adios Dave and Julie See also: black baby t when to start solid food for babies baby first solid how big is a baby at 32 weeks babys only formula baby formula food for constipated babies toxic baby bottles |

The 'mum to be' was delighted with her baby shower cupcakes and we loved making them! zoo theme baby shower Welcome to the savage and surprising world of Zoo Story, an unprecedented account of the secret life of a zoo and its inhabitants, both animal and human. Based on six years of research, the book follows a handful of unforgettable characters at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo: an alpha chimp with a weakness for blondes, a ferocious tiger who revels in Obsession perfume, and a brilliant but tyrannical CEO known as El Diablo Blanco. Zoo Story crackles with issues of global urgency: the shadow of extinction, humanity's role in the destruction or survival of other species. More than anything else, though, it's a dramatic and moving true story of seduction and betrayal, exile and loss, and the limits of freedom on an overcrowded planet--all framed inside one zoo reinventing itself for the twenty-first century. Thomas French, a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter, chronicles the action with vivid power: Wild elephants soaring above the Atlantic on their way to captivity. Predators circling each other in a lethal mating dance. Primates plotting the overthrow of their king. The sweeping narrative takes the reader from the African savannah to the forests of Panama and deep into the inner workings of a place some describe as a sanctuary and others condemn as a prison. All of it comes to life in the book's four-legged characters. Even animal lovers will be startled by the emotional charge of these creatures' histories, which read as though they were co-written by Dickens and Darwin. Zoo Story shows us how these remarkable individuals live, how some die, and what their experiences reveal about the human desire to both exalt and control nature. My Fotolog Favorites - 1-2-05 U.S. Government - AP AP $1B Given to Faith-Based Groups in 2003 By LAURA MECKLER, Associated Press Writer WASHINGTON - The government gave more than $1 billion in 2003 to organizations it considers "faith-based," with some going to programs where prayer and spiritual guidance are central and some to organizations that do not consider themselves religious at all. All told, faith-based organizations were awarded $1.17 billion in 2003. That is about 12 percent of the $14.5 billion spent on social programs that qualify for faith-based grants in five federal departments. White House officials expect the total to grow. Elected with strong support of religious conservatives, Bush came to office promising to open governments checkbook to religious groups that provide social services. Often, Bush says, religious groups do a better job serving the poor. Civil libertarians fear the government will wind up paying for worship, eroding the constitutional separation between church and state. ______________________________________________________________________ Jim Towey, who directs the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, said the Bush administration has been clear that "government money is not to fund religious activities." ---------------------------------------------------------------------- In the past, government has refrained from giving money directly to religious groups, but has required that they set up independent, secular organizations to get taxpayer dollars. Bush tried to get Congress to change that. Congress refused, so he unilaterally put many of his changes into effect. To entice religious groups to apply for grants, the White House hosted several conferences explaining the relaxed rules and put out a book listing programs they might want to apply for. ______________________________________________________________________ "We feel much more at ease," said Louis Wonderly, past president of the Luther House Foundation of Southern Chester County, Pa. The group was awarded $10.3 million to build an apartment building for low-income older people. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- In New Haven, Conn., Women in Search of Health Education and Spirituality got almost $500,000 to help AIDS (news - web sites) patients who are just out of drug treatment. Each session begins with a daily affirmation, where each participant chooses something to read, religious or secular. ______________________________________________________________________ At the federal penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kan., Life Connections got more than $50,000 to help inmates who are about to be freed and who volunteer to participate and pick one of six religious programs to follow. Activities include a two-week spiritual retreat and six weeks of intense religious study. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The White House declined comment on whether these particular programs were appropriate. The grants on the White House list were not specifically targeted to religious organizations. Rather, the list includes all groups believed to be faith-based that won competitive federal grants open to all applicants. Specifically, it includes recipients of competitive grants administered by five federal departments: Health and Human Services (news - web sites), Housing and Urban Development, Education, Labor and Justice. Not included are the billions sent to the states for distribution. "We intentionally avoid references to God and his works in our educational material so that no one will feel intimidated or avoid our services because they`re of a different religion," said Sue Ortiz, a home ownership counselor at Inner City Christian Federation in Grand Rapids, Mich., which got $65,000 in 2003 and $150,000 in 2004. But religion inspires their work, she said: "We do what we do because of God`s love." Guestbook pcdoc @ 2005-01-02 14:50 said: President Bush is a liar and a decietful person, giving money only to those faith-based groups that his fundamentalist right-wing Christian bosses tell him to. What about Islamic Faith Based Organizations. What about Jewish Faith Base Organizations. What about Buddhist Faith Based Organizations. And On, And On... THERE IS A DAMN GOOD REASON FOR THE BUSINESS OF POLITICS TO BE SEPARATED FROM THE BUSINESS OF RELIGION, AND BUSH KNOWS DAMN WELL THAT HE IS SHREDDING THE CONSTITUTION, REVERSING PRO CHOICE, REVERSING THE EASING OF BIGOTRY IN AMERICA, AND COMPLETELY INTIMIDATING AND DEMOLISHING HIS OPPONENTS, BE THEY RIGHTEOUS, OR CORRUPT LIKE HE IS. delete buster @ 2005-01-02 15:02 said: american taliban. backward-looking fundamentalism. delete ann279 @ 2005-01-02 15:09 said: It is interesting to me that Bush is trying to avoid a theocracy in Iraq while trying to foster one here in the United States. This one was inspired when I noted the light coming through our bedroom window and wondered if it might make for a good portrait. I would have very much preferred using some pretty woman as my model, but I had the day off work and was home alone because my wife and children were in Utah for a few days. Thus, I was the only subject available. But as pictures of me go, I sort of like this one. I am getting older now, and while my hair is on the sparse side, I'm noticing more and more gray in what hair I do have, and it shows up in this image. And I have earned every one of those gray hairs, let me tell you! Update for the "Portrait 50" group: 1. I once recited a lengthy passage from Dante's Divine Comedy, in the original Italian, during a job interview. (I was a member of the panel interviewing the candidate for the position.) 2. I'm terrified of heights, but love to fly. 3. I hated practicing law, but take comfort in the knowledge that while I did it, I helped a lot of battered women. 4. When I was 8 years old, my father made me memorize the names of all U. S. Presidents in chronological order, and I have never forgotten them, although I've had to add eight more names since then. (Kennedy was in office at the time.) 5. I took up ballroom dancing because I wanted to give my wife a romantic surprise, then became hooked on it myself. 6. I hate being photographed, even by myself, which is why there are few self-portraits in my Flickr photostream. 7. A friend of mine, who has lived in Rome for about the past 25 years, once told me I had done well to learn Italian because it was a language that lended itself very well to verbosity. 8. My favorite song is "O mio babbino caro," from Puccini's "Gianni Schicchi." 9. I am convinced that country music is one of the plagues foretold in the Book of Revelation. 10. I love to cuddle. 11. My favorite TV programs of all time are "Bonanza," "M*A*S*H*," and "Touched by an Angel." 12. I was very skinny when I was young, and weighed 90 pounds between ages 9 and 13, even though I grew several inches in height during that time. 13. Ever since I was about five years of age, I have always loved old silent comedies, especially those starring Harold Lloyd. 14. I once spent most of a day wandering alone around East Berlin back during the Cold War era. 15. I have read the entire Bible, as well as the other scriptures of my church, in English, Spanish, and Italian. 16. I know several Mad Magazine parody songs by heart, and enjoy singing them occasionally, usually for the benefit and edification of my wife and children. 17. I dislike facial hair, and shave nearly every single day, including Saturdays. I also figure it makes my face more kissable. 18. I hate tattoos and body piercings. 19. I rarely get sick, and once went for three years without even catching a cold. 20. I love to travel, and wish I could do more of it. 21. I regret never having been a Boy Scout. 22. My best decision in life was to become a Mormon, and my worst was to become a lawyer. 23. I am quiet and reserved around people I don't know, but warm and effusive around those I do. 24. My wife once remarked that she didn't quite know what to make of a husband who loved Dante, AND "Calvin & Hobbes." 25. I once did a live, on-air ad (in Spanish) for a lumber yard on a radio station in El Salvador. 26. I had a very hard time with dating when I was younger, for reasons I now recognize were mostly my own fault; yet the overwhelming majority of my really close friends today are women. (They are all trustworthy, by the way, and my wife doesn't mind.) 27. A number of people want me to be a "Jeopardy" contestant, but the idea of appearing on national television absolutely horrifies me. 28. I once made up a song about Mao Tse-tung while I was taking a shower. 29. As a preschooler, my favorite obsession was cars, and I could look at a car a block away and correctly identify its make. 30. The human qualities I most admire are courage, sensitivity, and humor, in that order. 31. I once worked in a chicken slaughterhouse, as a result of which I was unable to eat chicken for more than a year. 32. My favorite fantasy is to be President of the United States and serve something really messy at an official state dinner -- tacos, spaghetti, or prime rib, perhaps. 33. My favorite kinds of music are classical (including opera), movie soundtracks, and "oldies" from the 1950s and early 1960s. 34. If I am late coming home, my wife never has to look very hard to find me, as I am most likely going to be at the public library, Border's, or Barnes & Noble. (She has recently added the nearby Fred Astaire studio to that list, and has in fact tracked me down there a couple of times.) 35.
