Audrey, Larry & Greyson came today for lunch. After last fall when Greyson slipped his collar and led Dad & Audrey on a muddy trek through the woods behind our house, we decided to let him off leash inside the fenced storm water containment area (no water in it of course). All was well and he was running around sniffing up a storm until he sniffed up a nest of ground bees. He got a bunch of stings including one on his nose. ..poor baby! All is well though. UPDATE FROM AUDREY He is fine, and he didn't exhibit any of the symptoms of an allergy or severe reaction. He's basically just miserable, but he's been asleep for a few hours now. His poor nose is so puffy. I loved watching him run and romp around. We would love to let him off the leash more often, and talked about trying the dog park again. Anyway, we knew he was ok because he played with his buster cube for a little bit after we got home. I didn't like anything I took from last night, so I grabbed my camera, tripod, and Leahy's 85mm lens, and took several pictures. This was my favorite of anything I took. This is in my backyard, since I haven't shot there in forever. This pole is just sitting there by itself. A few feet from it is another pole with a little fence attached to it that I could easily jump over. I think when they built the house, there was two fences, the one that was originally attached to the pole I'm attempting to balance on, and the one in the background that I use for when I forget my keys after school. Also, it's completely unedited apart from the text added to it. On another note, I feel like I'm still slumping in photo ideas. My last few have just been either really stupid, or just boring. In Asia. when there is wedding, especially a chinese one, a baby boy will usually be made to roll on the newly wed's bed. i think if he move towards the right side, the couple will have a baby boy in future. And if he lean towards the left, the a baby girl. I am not sure where our new nephew landed at our cousin's wedding though. anyway, I don't quite believe in such things. Baby L 13 day old little boy, we were very patient (the shoot took 5 hours) but we got him to sleep solidly for about 2 hours while we moved him around all over the place. Well worth the wait. So, when death was put forward as the answer, there was lots of suicides and fights. Strangely, death by toaster was the most popular. Video #2 for 09.27.2011 Jade was quite fond of the toy duck which she used to help Clark with during his visit. Seems it quacks out a song. Xavier has developed a flat spot on the back of his head that progressively got more noticeable. After his six month visit, we we referred to Monroe Technologies for potential cranial remolding treatment. We had a consultation & turns out he was a candidate for a helmet that will give his skull a chance to round out. This condition is much more common now that every baby is supposed to sleep on their backs to help prevent SIDS. Xavier is a great sleeper & don't roll over just, keeps on lying on his back. That & all the time in the car seat, another flat, relatively hard surface for his skull to rest on. We agreed to the treatment & thankfully it was covered under insurance but we we going to treat him no matter what. This treatment will last two to six months depending on how he responds to the helmet. We figured what ever social embarrassment we have to put up with during this time is instantly out weighed by a lifetime of not having hats fit right or getting teased about a funny looking head. Here he is roosting on his favorite pillow. I rescued him barely feathered in June 2007. I syringe fed him Exact Baby Bird Fourmula from the pet store every 20 to 30 minutes and carried him around in my bra :) until he could fly. I pre-chewed a little food from my dinner and fed him also. I went heavier on the meat protein but a variety of food I figured was best. He is a year old now and a real character. He has been outside twice but likes us better so he came right to me the last time. (To the amazement of my neighbors who thought I would never find him among the millions of sparrows outside, but we have a bond) He now lives loose in my home and sleeps in my silk tree at night. He has a cage with toys but the door is always open. He even gets along with my 6 dogs! Sometimes when my Newfoundland (150 lbs) goes to the water bowl to take a drink he will dive bomb him and swoop in first. He then hangs upside down from the edge of the bowl and takes a bath while my dog stands over him watching wondering what to do. He is fearless. Every time I open the fridge he flies to my shoulder begging for food. He is facinated by a vioce comming out of my cell phone. When it rings he will fly to my shoulder and pecks at my fingers as to say "move over! I want to hear too!" His wild instincts are strong. I am still learning all his bird rules! Bedtime is a dusk promptly. He is very grumpy if we upset his routine. He has a territory inside our home and has yet to explore the whole house even. Doesn't even try to get outside when we open the doors. When I take a nap he will sometimes sneak up to the top of my head and pull a hair out for his nest. Don't even think about sleeping with your mouth open or he will stick his head in looking for food. They make the best pets! and after dinner... can ANYONE help me figure this girl out ?? matea's got this obsession with her hedgehog. every night after dinner she'll retrieve her hedgehog and carry it around like a baby, whining and sometimes even howling (the only time she howls) with the thing in her mouth. she then hides the hedgehog behind a chair or in a corner of the closet...never covering it, just hiding it. and if she sees that you've noticed she'll move it to a new location....only to dig it out again the next night. she's also very worried that morley might find it, so i wonder if she's viewing it as food or a 'baby' or what?!? can ANYONE tell me why? The problem with collecting the works of prolific artists is that there's so much material; fortunately, Chess made some good selections. The Rotunda, as both a maternity hospital and also as a training centre is notable for having provided continuous service to mothers and babies since inception, making it the oldest continuously operating maternity hospital in the world. It is estimated that over 300,000 babies have been born there. In 1889, the first caesarean section performed in Ireland was performed at the Rotunda. Their soft, thick fur is usually red and black in colour but a few are known to have a white or pink patch on the back of the neck and/or a ring on the base of the tail in a similar colour. Lifestyle: Active during the day especially in the evening, often to be found feeding in trees with ripe fruit. Fruit makes up 75% of the diet. Growing Up: Red ruffed lemurs produce litters of offspring and can have up to six infants at one time, but more usually twins are produced. They are also unusual in that they do not carry their young on their stomachs or backs but instead leave their babies in a nest of leaves whilst they go off to find food alone. In zoos where red ruffed lemurs are living near to black and white ruffed lemurs, these two species can understand one another's calls. If one sounds the alarm, the others join in. It's like being able to speak and understand a foreign language. In the wild these two varieties live in different places and do not normally meet each other. Some workers say that taro produces fewer dental problems than other starch crops. Recent research indicates that plastics can be made to be biodegradable by adding taro starch grains. When Captain Cook discovered the Hawaiian Islands in 1778, the native population (est. 300,000) lived chiefly on dasheen (taro) and sweet potatoes (Ipomoea batatas), supplemented with things from the sea. Opening the curtains and letting the moon be the only source of light in the room. Pointing out constellations and naming stars after one another. I’m saying prank calls. Laying down next to each other, on our stomachs, looking through yellowpages, and practicing our british, indian, or asian accents before we dial the number. I’m saying just maxing. Snuggling next to each other, letting our bodies touch as if we’re about to dance the tango. Our chests are glued to one another and our arms and legs are interlaced. I’m not saying sex. After a bath and long nap we headed out to see what WalMart was all about. We of course we started at. When two women wouldn't stop staring, after 5 minutes Phil pulled out the tag that stated we were Americans adopting an orphan. Well every Tom, Dick and Harry had to come see what the badge said. By pulling out the badge for them to read it made our situation worse. Many times I found myself with my back against a wall and Emma strapped on my chest. Being a little taller than the rest of the crowd I would look over everyone and just keep walking. We found 2 outfits for her to wear at night and some snacks. After feeling like we had 5 heads each we went to a large park and ate our snacks. Then it was dinner time. A group of us went to a real nice restaurant and the food was awesome. It's served family style. It was a weird mix of this an that but was really good. The babies were very happy...they were finally getting a warm meal of things they were used to. The tofu soup was a hit. At 7:30 Emma passed out for the night. Through out dinner she kept falling asleep. When she's real tired...no one can touch her but Phil. She arches her back and stiffens up if I try. It is really really cold here. The day we got off the plane it was 43 degrees and today felt colder. Which brings me to a point. Most of the babies have flat heads from laying down a lot. Emma's head is real flat. You don't even have to feel her head to see that it's real flat. But when you think that there is NO heat in almost any of the buildings (Civil Affairs office, airport, department stores) and that she's been living in 4 layers all her life....no wonder when put to sleep on a super hard surface, the back of her head is flat. Emma was so bundled up she never was able to turn over and her arms would stick straight out. She is just now figuring out how to clap her hands and to feed herself. We're not worried at all, it will get better with time. She has one little tooth starting. For someone who's teething, she's pretty happy. 11 months young Since you haven't had a check-up in 2 months & won't have one for another month, I have no clue how much you weigh or how long you are! Gotta get out the measuring tape. It's been a big month for you! You got your first tooth just a couple of weeks ago. FINALLY. Now you're constantly running your tongue over it. Lucky for us you were a breeze to deal with when teething... we didn't even know until mommy saw a white line just under your gums. Such a strong boy! You've also started standing pretty much constantly. No steps yet, but it seems like it could be any day now that you attempt to walk. You're much taller than a lot of babies your age, so we wonder if your center of gravity is effected, hehe. That's what we tell ourselves. Then again, you walking means a new lifestyle...one of chasing you around as you get into anything & everything. Fun, but tiring. & I don't think I can get any more tired. You haven't said a single word yet, but buddy, you are SO smart. You play your xylophone & are super proud as you bang away. You also have two different tambourines that you adore shaking. We think you're going to be very musical, which is fine by us :) You may not have said a word yet but you know what lots of phrases mean. You are very vocal though & a day with you includes hearing lots of yelling, laughing & almost sing-songy sounds. You've also become a LOT more cuddly. Actually, I should say you've become cuddly, period, as you were never a cuddly sort until now. You'll grab at my legs or shirt for a quick snuggle & you'll lay your head on my shoulder & just stay there for a few minutes. You don't even know how much that makes my heart ACHE with an overwhelming amount of love. YOU, yes you, are one of the coolest, funniest, most amazing people I know. & I can't wait to watch you grow & change more & more, day by day.
