A few days ago I purchased a set of kenko extension tubes for macro use. I don't think I would shoot enough macro to buy a dedicated lens so I went with the more affordable option. For what they will be used for (mostly ring shots) I think I made a wise decision.

This is my fiances Simon G. engagement ring. With a 1.08carat F VVS1 center stone, It's worth more than all of my camera equipment combined!

Newport Construction Corporation Paving Equipment. Blaw Knox Paver, Hypac Asphalt Compactor and Tool Truck on Concord Avenue in Belmont Ma on October 5th 2009. Crews paved 1,802 Tons of Binder asphalt or 73 Truck Loads of Asphalt. It took Crews 12 Hours and they Started at 8AM and did not finish untill 8PM.

The center diamond which has been elegantly placed with an eagle claw prong set is I color, VS2 clarity weighing at 0.30 ct. - There are 8 diamonds, (4 on each side of the main diamond) resembling delicate leaves; H color, SI clarity. Over the generations people have sought out meteorites for their magical powers. The oracle of Delphi had a star stone to help divine the future. Mohamed shrine has a star stone. The great sword of King Arthur was forged from star metal as were many magic swords of legend. Meteorites are thought to bring powers of the stars and help to fulfill great destines and Aid in seeing the future.

I have cut this meteorite into five pieces To work into useable jewelry stones. This is a heavy, solid stone with a slightly porous nature. Its finish polished color is dark gray black with bright silver flecks of possible Nickel in a carbonized iron base.

I have recently been diving and Canoeing the Buffalo river and collecting a large cash of shells. As It is too insanely hot in my shop to work with the heat wave .
This is what becomes of them .
The skull was carver from TN River shell. I dive and collect these shells from the rives and lakes around Tn .
In the wall of this shell was a large bump in the other wise smooth surface. I cut it out and carver this skull from it. The colors rang from transparent, Bright white, gray white to golden. On the skeletal hand I mounted a small diamond in gold.

The ring is 9.2 size.

“Oh fiddlesticks!” I said. “Now we are in a pretty pickle. Any suggestions, Agrimony?”
“Not really,” replied Agrimony grimly. “I suppose we could run for it, but I’ve a suspicion we’re surrounded. Besides, quite frankly, I can’t be bothered.”
I turned back towards Spitmucus astride his fire dragon. I should make clear, I suppose, that while Draco diminutivus obnoxiosious is, as its name suggests, only a pygmy fire dragon, it is still roughly five times the size of the average cart-horse, with talons big enough to disembowel an elephant, purplish scales the size of dinner-plates, and rather hypnotic rose-pink eyes. Like all fire dragons (and, as I have told Agrimony a thousand times, like all birds, too), it walks on its hind legs, the front legs being in this species almost vestigial, having a very limited manipulative capacity. Fire dragons are, of course, the only creatures of the genus Draco to possess the unique pectoral girdle which accommodates not only the forelegs, but also a pair of membranous wings. The specimen in question was undoubtedly a monarch among pygmy fire dragons, and as he stretched his wings and yawned a spurt of flame two ells long, almost dislodging his rider, I was reminded how much I coveted the skeletal remains of Draco diminutivus obnoxiosious. However, under the current circumstances, I considered it impertinent to enquire whether he might consider donating his body to science.

Besides, the fellow lodged between his shoulder blades was also a specimen of peculiar interest. You must remember that I had only seen Griswald and Snotgobbler in their full Goblinish glory for the space of a few seconds, before Agrimony turned them into sheep in a fit of impatience. Faced with so splendid a dragon, however, Agrimony seemed less disposed to take offensive action, so that I was able to get a good look at Spitmucus as he prepared to address his captive audience. Being a military sort, and apparently one who had spent some time in the cavalry, Spitmucus wore knee-length riding boots, a pair of white military jodhpurs, and a red jacket festooned with gold braid and medals. But there were holes in the ends of his boots, out of which there protruded a disconcerting array of gnarled, green toes, with hooked claws where the toenails ought to have been. And as the pygmy dragon shifted his weight impatiently from foot to foot, and leaned against the half-ruined wall, sighing smokily to himself, I perceived that there was a wide tear in the back of Spitmucus’s jacket, out of which there protruded a hairy green back with rather prominent vertebral processes. His face was particularly unpleasant, so I tried not to look at it, especially after he cleared his throat and let the slime dribble down his chin.

“Oh, do hurry up and get on with it, Pukeslime, or whatever your name is,” said the dragon impatiently, giving Spitmucus the kind of look that a cat might be expected to give to a flea. “If you’re going to say something, say it, and let me get on with my part of the job.” And then, I am proud to say, he looked at me, groaned audibly, and said, “Why did I have to be the one to carry this pompous old coot? It’s just my luck, I can tell you. On any other occasion, I’d smother him with chestnuts and have him gently toasted, if only for the pleasure of shutting him up.”
“Now don’t you get sassy with me Polygonatum,” snorted Spitmucus indignantly. “Leave the wetorical part of pwoceedings to the experts!”
“Hum,” I could not help interrupting, “What does he mean by wetorical?”
Polygonatum gave another exasperated groan. “He means rhetorical, but he has a speech impediment. Trust me to be landed with a rider who can’t tell his rs from his ws. Cursed, rotten luck!”
Spitmucus ignored this, and, assuming as imperious a posture as possible, he commenced his speech. “Wesistance is futile, you are completely suwwounded,” he began, and as if to confirm it, five other pygmy fire dragons stuck their heads in through the windows and hungrily eyed the occupants of the hall. “We must expwess our gwatitude, Llew Llaw Gyffes, for depwiving us, at one fell swoop, of the twoublesome Pwince Eugene. He weally was becoming wather superfluous. I begin to think that you may make a perfect Pwime-Minister in a puppet government. As for the west of you, I am under orders to fwow you all into pwison.” (Here the pygmy fire dragons exchanged exasperated glances, and Polygonatum drooled steam to think of the tasty meal going to waste.) “No doubt our illustwious leader Scabpicker will wish to qwestion you all, and mete out such punishment as tweachewous cwiminals deserve. But I wather suspect he will leave you to languish with the wats and mice for a while, before he gets awound to intewwogating you -”

Family - NYMPHALIDAE.

Holy moly today has been so freakin busy! Katanas are one of the most popular forms of swords today. It could be because of the code of honor samurais lived by and how people want to uphold such a code, or it could be because they are simply an amazingly made sword with great detail put into it. This sword features a 26 ? inch blade of sharp carbon steel. The edge was created by half hand sharpening and half machine sharpening. The tsuba (guard) is a battle tsuba, of a rare square design made of cast metal featuring a scene of 2 samurais on horseback locked in combat. The saya (Scabbard) has been done in white with gold accenting to match the white wrap of the 11 ? inch handle. A white sageo, the cord around the saya, adds to the look of the katana. The wrap is around imitation rayskin. 41 inches overall.

Tonight, on his 30th birthday (!), Ed got down on one knee and asked me if I'd marry him (again). This time he had a proper ring. It is absolutely stunningly gorgeous. I love it -- and him! I said yes, of course.

Also, rings are freaking difficult to photograph.

All of the world's rose onyx is found in the Denver capitol building. In fact, they ran out of the rose onyx they had to finish some of the details with marble. The designers of the capitol wanted to use all Colorado products when building the capitol building. It made for a very expensive project.

Arriving at Llandudno Junction Station at 11.25am today: GWR Hall Class 4/6/0 4965 Rood Ashton Hall followed by GWR Castle class 5043 4/6/0 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe. Two beautiful Great Western Railway Steam Engines with a rake of Brown and cream carriages. This was a special Victoriana charter from The Midlands for the Victorian extravaganza in Llandudno. Unfortunately the sun was a bit bright for the shot.

4965 ROOD ASHTON HALL

4965 Rood Ashton Hall was built for the Great Western Railway in 1929 at Swindon Works. It was one of the mixed traffic Hall class engines, which did sterling work for the GWR and BR on all sorts of trains. Several of the type were allocated to Tyseley shed for semi-fast, parcels and holiday excursions and they also worked the fruit trains to Moor Street goods depot including the famous broccoli trains from Cornwall.

4965 itself was first allocated to Oxley shed in Wolverhampton and by 1948 was allocated to Bristol St.Phillips Marsh moving to Penzance and several other sheds.

In 1962, the engine underwent a change of identity during overhaul where we believe Swindon Works made one good engine out of two, and it emerged bearing the name and number 4983 Albert Hall. it was withdrawn in 1963 whilst then based at Didcot depot.

The engine was purchased (as 4983) from Barry Scrapyard in 1971 for the Tyseley Collection and over many years was restored to main line condition. It was during this overhaul at Tyseley Locomotive Works that the locomotive's identity swap was discovered.

Today the engine carries the true 4965 identity and is turned out in authentic GWR 1926 fully lined livery. Its return to the main line was marked by a re-enactment of the former 'SLS Special' trains with a run from Birmingham Snow Hill to Didcot on Sunday 18th April 1999.

Since then 4965 has been the mainstay engine used on the 'Shakespeare Express', the Sundays-only Steam Train service, which runs during the summer months (and occasionally at other times of the year) between Birmingham Snow Hill and Stratford-upon-Avon. The engine has also been used on many 'one-off' excursions including deputising for a mighty King locomotive on a trip from Snow Hill to Paddington, which is something that Halls used to do in the days of regular steam hauled trains. It has also hauled several trains double-headed with Tyseley sister Hall class engines 4936 Kinlet Hall and 4953 Pitchford Hall. The double-headed Hall combinations have exhibited great haulage capabilities over the notorious South Devon banks, Llanvihangel Bank on the Welsh Marches route and also on LMS metals with a spectacular run from Crewe to Carlisle & back over Shap carrying a Western Region style headboard entitled 'The Caledonian'. In October 2001 Rood Ashton Hall hauled the first of two 'Lickey Banker' runs up the legendary Lickey Bank ably assisted by stable mate GWR 0-6-0PT No. 7760 as the banking engine.

Rood Ashton Hall completed its 117th duty heading the 'Shakespeare Express' on Sunday 26th August 2007. Although it should have been withdrawn for overhaul in March 2008, an extension was granted due to recent boiler work and it was able to head the Shakespeare Express on a number of times again in 2008. It also managed to hand the Tyseley main line baton over to recently restored Castle class No. 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe on a double-headed run to Didcot in Novemver 2008 prior to its evental withdrawal for overhaul.

The engine's 10-year overhaul took just a few months due to an on going programme of maintenance work that had been previously carried out during periods of low main line activity. So it returned to the mainline in October 2009 and got staight down to business with a private charter.

In its first 10-year main line stint the engine has visited a great many places with tours, many of which had not previously been visited by a Hall class locomotive. Destinations include Paddington, Blackpool, Bristol, Carlisle, Chester, Coalville, Didcot, Holyhead, Kettering, Kidderminster, Lincoln, Marylebone, Melton Mowbray, Newport, Oakham, Ruddington, Worcester, York.

5043 EARL OF MOUNT EDGCOMBE

In 1923, C.B.Collett, Chief Mechanical Engineer of the GWR introduced a new express passenger locomotive for the Great Western, the Castle class locomotive. A 4-6-0 design, with four cylinders, superheated Swindon no.8 boiler and larger cab, the first of the class, 4073 'Caerphilly Castle' soon set records on the GWR, hauling heavier loads at higher speeds than its predecessors of the 'Star' class.

Production of more Castle class locomotives followed and in March 1936 number 5043 'Earl of Mount Edgcumbe' was out shopped from Swindon works at a cost of ?4,848 for the locomotive and ?953 for the Collett designed 4000 gallon tender. Originally 5043 was given the name 'Barbury Castle', after an iron age hilltop fort, five miles south of Swindon. It frequently hauled the GWR's 'Cheltenham Flyer', which was then the fastest train in the world.

In The lord of the Rings: War in the North you are one of these heroes. Inspired by events from the famous book trilogy and their retelling in Peter Jackson's films, the game features stunning visuals, brutally realistic combat, a unique and compelling new story, and innovative cooperative gameplay that pits you and your friends against the dark forces of Middle-earth. In this game you will form your own fellowship and fight against Sauron's forces at the North.
Playable Characters and Co-op Gameplay
The gameplay in The lord of the Rings: War in the North is all about cooperation. Players will take on the role of either Eradan, a Dunedain ranger, Andriel, an Elf or Farin, a Dwarf. Each will have special abilities tied to their race - for example, a Dunedain can combine different objects to create unique items for use or sale in-game; Elves possess superior sight, which will lead you to shortcuts and recognition of trouble ahead; and Dwarves have the ability to notice weaknesses at the walls and break them in order to find secret caves with different loots. Each race with have character class possibilities as well as legendary weapons. Once characters are established, they must band together in multiplayer action, working together to combat hordes enemies. These enemies include goblins pouring from their strongholds in the Misty Mountains, Uruk-hai from Isengard, savage wargs in the wilderness, giant spiders infesting Mirkwood, massive trolls and most dramatic and dangerous of all, bosses like Agandaur, a deadly Black Numenorean lord who long ago was tempted and turned by the lies of Sauron.
Along your journey you will also cross paths with Lord of the Rings characters familiar and not so familiar, fulfilling little known but important events of the wider War of the Ring. These include: Aragorn's scouting party of the North, while Frodo recovers in Rivendell from the wound he suffered at Weathertop; missions with the Elven sons of Elrond, Elladan and Elrohir; the responsibilities of the wizard, Radagast the Brown; encounters with the great eagles of the Misty Mountains and more.

Ornaments make up most of the life savings of many Khampa families, and so play an important role in Tibetan families' lives as well as in announcing the social status of the wearers. They are saved up for over many years and handed down for centuries from generation to generation within families. Until very recently, these families were nomadic and have to move every few months because of the snowy seasons in the Himalayas, so Khampas have always needed to store their wealth in portable form. So being unable to store wealth in the form of estates or houses or land or in a bank, for millenia wealth has been stored in art, precious fabrics, and particularly into ornaments.

Their culture is very conservative about the type of ornaments favored: for thousands of years jewelry made from amber, turquoise and coral have been worn because the stones are believed to hold spiritual power. Gold and silver and also naturally found in Tibet, and the use of these metals by the wealthy also goes back thousands of years. Their ornaments are very chunky, bold and colorful. While the gold earrings that Khampa women wear may have cost them a year or maybe several year's of their salary, ornaments carry so much social status in their society that probably didn't have to think twice about the purchase.

To the Khampa people these ornaments have the utmost sentimental value and significance, because they are the physical remnants of generations of their ancestors hard work or success. what these people are wearing is not just their life savings, but also their family history and treasure. this culture has been around for millenia - archeological finds from the 1st century AD in the khampa area unearthed ornaments that are essentially the same in design and materials as today's are. there are also beliefs that the stones provide good luck and protection to disease. dyed red coral is the most sought after stone, but interestingly tibet is very very far from any oceans - all the coral is imported by traders! Religious symbols from Tibetan Buddhism frequency form the designs of pieces, however archeological finds show that the role of ornaments in Tibetan society and peoples' lives long predate the arrival of Buddhism in Tibet. Indeed the beliefs of spiritual protection being provided by coral, amber and turquoise probably originate from the ancient shamanic Bon religion.

This ring was inspired by Medusa the beautiful woman who turned men to stone if they looked at her. She had snakes on her head otherwice she looked very attractive but she was evil. Finally Perseus menaged to kill her using a mirror shield to keep his eye on her instead of looking directly into the face. He cut her head off and used it as an armour as it still had the lethal power. Later he gave the head to Athena who fixed it on her shield. I find the story very impressive and symbolic.
The head of Medusa was often used in the ancient word on doors to keep away the evil.

In Italian and in Hungarian and probably in many other languages jellyfish is called "medusa". Probably because the look and the paralizing touch of it. I did not follow the traditional Medusa representations in my ring, it reather features a jellyfish.

I worked about three days on the ring's body: the patterns, the lining with the eye soldered into the band, the light chamber under the big stone and the fabricated elements. On the next day I started to prepare the mountings and in the evening I begun to set the stones. Then I accidently broke the collar of the ring... Next day I removed the stones and mountings and by the evening I was where I messed it up. Then I messed it up again! Yesterday I started to work on it again, and finally I finished it by today's morning with no sleep. The head of the Medusa is on my bench!!

The size of the ring is 6.5 (US). There is my eye mark on the inside of the band.
It weights 15.9 grams.
The diameter of the big garnet is 11 mm. The 4 small garnets on the moving collar of the ring head are 3 mm in diameter.
The hight of the piece from to bottom to the top of the stone is 37 mm.
The width is 58 mm.
The ring band is 5 mm wide.
