There are presently 230 Israeli settlements with a population of 275,000 in the West Bank, who have no intention of going anywhere. Even with their own state, the Palestinians would be economically dependent on Israel, and the latter dependent on Palestinians for labor. And the West Bank is geographically separated from Gaza. How could a viable independent Palestinian state exist under those conditions? Hasn't the India-Pakistan partition disaster taught us anything?"
