When we got to NY, to make a long story short, our hostel reservation was screwed up, and we ended up staying at this really shitty, but very cheap, hotel instead. The decor (almost a month early) was largely made out of garbage bags.

Finding a place to stay on short notice in the big apple is not easy under the best of circumstances. This was a national holiday week-end, and ten at night...

If you want to avoid staying here, the place was called the Caribe Hotel, and has a sister hotel called Casablanca (equally awful) - both on West 145th st.
