It is every bit as cool as can be imagined -- great features a modern technology can realize; it stands out for being energy efficient and super portable due to its ultra light weight (1.32kg) and when it comes to design, its slimmer(17.5mm) bezel presents an elegant feel while offering much wider screen. All told, it adds up to a stylish, practical and environmentally conscious technology at the same time.

Auryn Piers decides not to push the subject at this point, sighing as Tarin insists on moving about. She locates and fills a glass full of water before sitting it on the table in front of her. Well, hopefully you got it all outta your system. She was, of course, referring to the drinking.
Tarin Perian looks at the water and then picks it up and takes a swallow. "There's some...gatorjuice crap in the fridge....I think." She rests her forehead in her hand. "Everything fucking hurts...even numb, it hurts.."
Auryn Piers: Drink the water. The command was a softly-spoken one as she settles into the nearby chair. Despite humankinds efforts when it came to hydration, nothing quite beat good ol H2O.
Tarin Perian works on getting the water down already starting to sober up. "Hate this..." she mumbles and then slides a hand over to Auryn. "I'm glad you're here."
Auryn Piers offers a weak smile as she allows her hand to be taken. Well, youre definitely a girl that needs looking after. The words are offered in half jest as brows are comically lifted.
Tarin Perian finishes the glass of water and pushes it aside. "Now..can I have some of th'juice?" She grins at Auryn and her smile flickers and fades. "I'm sorry. I am. But...it was so scary...and it all happened so fast..."
Auryn Piers: Yeah. She collects the glass before rising, sliding her hand from beneath the other. I really am sorry you had a rough time of it. She tosses the statement over her shoulder while finding and then filling the container with the desired beverage. She returns to the table and places it neatly before Tarin. Musta shook you up pretty bad. She reclaims her seat while casting a concerned glance in the womans direction.
Tarin Perian drinks about a third of the glass as soon as it's set down, then closes her eyes and leans back. 'Better...thanks for this. I mean it. And yeah...I can't say much about it, but...basically, someone that was...well..family...was so very -not-. And it got messy..and...when it was all done...everyone had somewhere to be...someone to be with..."
Auryn Piers: Bad stuff happens fast. Then again, so does the good stuff. She lifts slender shoulders into a shrug. Thats life, I guess. Fingers absently trace the tables surface as she listens, head adopting a shallow cant as green eyes remain upon the others features. She finds herself unsure of what to say, lips forming a thin line as she considers. No matter what happens or doesnt happen with us, you have a friend in me, okay? You need someone after something bad like that? Gimme a call.
Tarin Perian glances over at Auryn and then back down at the table. "Sounds a lot like I'd just be using you when the bad shit happened. Then again, in this place...that's been about once every couple of weeks on an average."
Auryn Piers: Eh. Different people mean different things to each other. A friendship is a friendship, right? Sides, Im sure youd do the same for me. She begins to fidget, weight shifting within the chair.
Tarin Perian nods a little. "Yeah...I'd do the same for you in a heartbeat. I guess...I'm just fumbling my way. See...I never...saw relationships. Or...anything...really. I mean..I have some vague memories from when I was like..five..but after that, for the next twelve years, I lived in Facilities. Labs." She looks down at the glass, now about half empty. "I'm kinda learning as I go here. We weren't around a wide variety of people, or a large number of them."
Auryn Piers: Yeah, I kinda figured that. She leans backward in her chair, fingers lacing behind her neck as a swiveling of her head allows for a sideways glance. Ive lived on the streets and in- She cuts off the statement, debating the wisdom of being so forthcoming. Lets just say I may not be all that older than you or anything but Ive had my share of.. Uh experiences. I dont mean sex.. though theres that. I just mean with people. I know who I am. Its something I had to figure out for myself and thats something youre gunna have to do.
Tarin Perian nods a little. "I know. And...I don't want you to think I don't...appreciate you. Or care for you. Or find you amazing. But...you're like..light years ahead of where I'm at with being sure about things. Me? Give me an arsenal to strip down and reassemble, or a tactical situation to analyze, and I'm fine..." No..no real signs of being drunk now that she's drinking the 'juice'. "...but put me in a club or a party? I panic. I don't know how to behave, or react, or..." She sighs. "I couldn't even live in a family. I had to leave."

The Winter Blues
In the winter I have to put up a tarp and 3 tarp walls 10' X 20' on my patio to smoke, the garage is trashed even if it's a 2+ car garage is always used by to wife and daughter as a dumping ground, (Oh just leave it in the garage we'll get it later), so no comfort there. The end of the tarp we can look thru French doors to see my older 70" non-HD TV. There is a plus, I have a hot tub in which we usually are in and I have speakers outside to hear to game or whatever is on but can't see the TV. I have started by buying a 2 X 4 smoke eater but have not got to the point in the wall building stage. The thought is a 4 season glass room so we're still outside were not turning blue every time we need a beverage or to cool down slowly. This could be one of the best cave that is not walled up. Also I am a caver I do crawl under ground in Missouri mud. Love the show guy's you're the Best on DIY. Chuck

4/366 - 2012-01-04: Nightly Ritual
Like the "Time to make the donuts" guy, every night, I say, "Time to do the bottle bag".
1. Wash and steam bottles and nipples.
2. Boil water for formula.
3. After water has cooled, pour into clean bottles.
4. Measure out three bottles' worth of formula into the formula dispenser.
5. Pack three bottles' worth of nipples, bottles, collars, filters, valves, and formula into bottle bag. He usually only gets up twice, but I'm a good girl scout.
I took one with a flash, but I liked this darker one better. Kind of gives the late-night vibe I was going for.

Aruba - Palm Beach Cokin Filters
Hello everyone... Hope you're having a great week! As most of you know I went on a small vacation with my GF to Aruba. Before the trip I went to my local camera shop (B&H Photo Video) to pick up some Cokin Z-Pro filters. I've seen some of the most amazing photos on Flickr with people who use them and I knew I had to step up my game and give them a try. I picked up the 77mm Cokin filter holder adapter, the Z-Pro holder and the following filters:
1. Cokin ND2 - Graduated Neutral Density
2. Cokin ND4 - Graduated Neutral Density
3. Cokin ND8 - Graduated Neutral Density
4. Cokin Graduated T2 Tobacco
5. Cokin Sunset Filter
This was my first attempt at using the filters. I shot this photograph 10-15 minutes before sundown using the Cokin Graduated T2 Tobacco filter and the Cokin Sunset Filter. Obviously the colors dont really look so realistic but this shot is virtually SOOC. I changed a few things, curves, color balance, clarity and contrast to make it pop a bit more.
I'm curious to know what you guys think of this one. I took lots of pictures playing with different combinations of my filters. If you're interested in seeing more please let me know.

This is a test picture, taken with enabled color-filter effect. This is a cool feature of the IXUS 750 which can be used to filter out one color of the picture you want to take. The rest of the picture will be "converted" to b/w. Very impressive

...or the original solvent. Yes that's right folks, warm water with a little bit of elbow, or in this case knuckle, grease will do wonders for the health of your air conditioning window unit's health. Confused? Well, let me step back, just a bit to explain.
Since the dog days of Summer seem to be jumping unexpectedly out of some hidden lair to bite us in the ass, the Mrs. and I (I like saying "the Mrs.") decided to break down and install AC window units for the sake of a bit of sleep comfort and to prevent the poor pooch from having brain bake while we humans go out into the world to earn dog food buying magic green paper things.
So, after a bit of medium and heavy lifting we find our hero, (that'd be me) inspecting the filters on each of the appliances in question, only to find a moderate amount of dust from the season before. "No problem, in just a jif or 2 we'll have cool dry air pumping into our environs," I thought to myself. But then, on closer inspection, what should I see on the coils beyond the filter housings? Filth I tell you, pure filth.

The unit in the living room window was acquired 2nd hand from a work acquaintance who'd installed whole house air conditioning (must be nice) and gave us this pretty decent unit for a more than fair deal, or so I thought. Last year, we noticed a slight oder when running it, but time and a general appreciation for not sweating while sitting still to watch a movie or such did not allow us to investigate.
This year I investigate to find a crusty amalgam of nicotine, dust, and cat hair crusted onto the entire evaporator coil. Filth, pure filth. A number of fins were also bent so that all in all, one might wonder how any air could make it through to be cooled.
Well, after some diligent toothbrush and water work mixed with lots of patience I managed to remove most of the filth and bend the heat sync fins back to a more normal position. Much better. The smaller unit in the sleeping quarters was filthy too, but just dust and no crust so a quick vac treatment with the gentle brush attachment was all the Dr. ordered.
Moral of the story. Inspect and clean your coils on a regular basis. Otherwise you will be asking too much of your air conditioner and paying too much to you electric company, not to mention increasing your carbon footprint to Shaq size for no reason at all.

Yeah, so this took FOREVER!! Do you know how hard it is to find stock for a morgue? Geez! lol So I had to think of another idea for a picture today because I'm behind and wanted to do something Alice Cooper related. My mom and dad said I should do "Cold Ethyl". I thought it would be fun to do. But holy crap it took way too long and isn't nearly as cool as I was hoping it would be. The hardest part was finding a metal table that would work. I had to play iwth the perspective alot to get it to look kind of normal. The funnest part was the brain :) lolOh well it's done and I'm not terribly dissapointed.

Evaporative cooling
These King Parrots often visit our garden, and on the hottest days they find a place on the green grass in the shade or near a sprinkler to cool off. Their open beaks and lifted wings indicate that they are feeling the heat. They were enjoying the evaporative cooling around the bird bath. The male later turned and sat with his tail in the water for a while!

Conor Nitely motioned to Phoebe to duck under the counter as the passed the front desk, ducking pass the nursing staff with something that looked like considerable practice. He'd creep slowly around the curtain, eyes blinking rapidly to adjust to the light inside. Grubby face was still quite red, breathing just the slightest bit hitched as he peered around the room.
Phoebe Scribe stepped in right behind Conor, fury still brewing in her dark set eyes. She scanned the room for the patient in question, hands at her sides balled into into fists. She'd like to see someone try to stop her in her quest.
Jaina Lefevre is curled on her side, River was sitting here - guess he got up to go to the bathroom.
Conor Nitely stomped forward, considerably less dust left in his wake now that they were out of the ruins. "Pork's coming," he whispered back to Phoebe, eyes scanning and settling on the girl curled across the room. The medical staff and various other patrons of the MCMC were ignored now, the word all but shouted. "JAINA!"
Jaina Lefevre looks up at Conor and gives him a crooked grin. "Hi Conor...hi Phoebe.. My good ear is okay, you ain't gotta shout no more."
Phoebe Scribe nodded to him. Pork would be good in this case to have here. She followed behind Conor, her eyes resting on the girl, taking note of everything she could see. She muttered softly. "Pitch black." Speaking in abit higher pitch. "Hi Jaina. We're sorry ya hurt."
River Grau comes back from the bathroom, wavng to those tat jus arrived. 'Hey." (Yay. I'm on the comp that eats letters)

Conor Nitely wasn't aware of any good or bad ears, or the fact that he was even shouting. He seemed to have to volumes really, low and high. Despite his hybrid ears both sounded the same to him most of the time. He paused, momentarily at a loss for words as he took in her injuries. When finally managed to speak again the words were almost forced out. Bat references were ignored, he was too focused on his mission now. "What happened?"
Phoebe Scribe glanced over to Conor, then back at Jaina, quiet for the moment again as she intentionally took slow breaths, focusing on not blowing a fuse about her mortal enemy attacking kids.
Jaina Lefevre looks at Phoebe and Conor, then at River. "It was really bad. Kimi and Rai tried t'get me out and Rai even said they should kill him and let us go. He was really brave."
River Grau looked over at Conor and Phoebe, "Watch out.. If yah play in the park. I seen them marine people there but they ain't hurt me or nothin'. But they hut Jaina so you gotta watch out."
Muggles looks at Conor with the stink eye but says nothing. " Hey Jaina.. No body over there .. Your mom come by yet?"
Kimani Silvercloud goes in and walks next to her bed
Conor Nitely shook his head, indignant now. Muggles was ignored, he was way to focused on finding out what happened. "They got you in the park?"
Phoebe Scribe muttered something inaudible before she widened her eyes at River. "THEY WERE IN THE PARK?!" She shouted with anger. "They killed my MAMA in the park!" All bets of keeping Phoebe calm were now gone.
Nellie Meads's eyes get huge, her pupils get black black, and her tail goes rigid behind her.
Rai Pawpad climbs halfway up the foot of the bed. "Heya Jaina."
Jaina Lefevre nuh uhs. "Mommy has to travel from the Beas..." her voice trails off and she looks over at Phoebe and she swallows. "Uh huh. THey chaseded Rai and I and we hid in the trees and they threw a bang thing and it got really bright and loud, then it got black. I woked up in a cage." She seems to relax as Rai gets there. "You is okay?" He was the last one she needed to 'check on' in her mind.
Nellie Meads: "Jaina, you're a warrior now, you been apprehended."
Phoebe Scribe was shaking with anger for a minute or two before she stormed right back out. That was enough to send her on her own personal mission. "They can't COME in the park!" She didn't know if Conor was following or not, but she was yanking her phone from her bag and dialing, clearly on the move.
Jaina Lefevre: "I gots broked ribs and a Kun-cushion and they glued my skin together in spots." She watches Phoebe go. "Wait! We gotta plan!"
Rai Pawpad pets her foot awkwardly. "Yeah, I'm okay, Princess. I'm good. Are you better now? Cause we're gonna take them out."
Muggles looks around the room," You sure gots lots of friends Jaina.*eyes Conor and River* . Not who'd I pick but it's kinda cool I guess" Smiles at Phobe

It's been busy out there in the Atlantic.
Tossing lots of rain & gray days our way.
I have been enjoying the cooler days but the humidity has kept me from finishing some painting projects... the boys furniture and a few other things.

I'm also waiting on my birthday /early Christmas gift.
After about 6 months with out my Rebel Xti I tried a Samsung point & shoot. GREAT 12mp shots... but LCD screen started pixelating and I wanted to hurl it from day to day. And auto focus - and it means AUTO- like whatever it wants (not you - zeroooo control) can make an SLR user want to flip out.
2 weeks ago I used the insurance to upgrade the Samsung to a Canon Power shot.
I'll call this a hybrid camera. Nice fat lens. 10 mp, so 2 less than the Samsung, but that lens will never let you know. Great AF on the point & shoot mode. Loads of fantastic features. Fills up my hands nicely... and the manual mode is lovely and gave me something to actually do to perfect what I was seeing and not having to accept what the AF was giving me. I HIGHLY recommend this camera as a back up for anyone and everyone who wants a P&S that can go a little further.
It takes GREAT movies!!!
But, not as nice as my new T2i will!
I am a Canon girl.
I know LOADS of Nikon peeps.
For me the Nikon D90 & Canon T2i side by side reviews had me a bit confused at which I would begin to save for.
Holding both I naturally felt better with the Canon because I have held a rebel for years and the buttons and body, even with the slight changes, were easy and 2nd nature to me, very little guess work at all.
I was lost with the Nikon... and like most people I think we tend to gravitate to what is familiar.
So, I didn't have to save and after my pride was put down by joy over such a grand gift, I am now eagerly tracking FedEx which says it should be here Tuesday!
I have 7 lens coming with it. Bags, Tripods, and external flash- which I have never used in my life. I have never liked flash at all... and even when I had to use it, it was soft and only when I HAD to. Natural light is my thing.
Where will I go the moment it's battery is charged?

Then next weekend...my birthday weekend? Weather permitting, Cumberland Island where the wild horses still roam and the old castle ruins still stand. It'll be a camping weekend. The ferry only comes twice and you are stuck to deal with weather or hunger if you aren't prepared. It's back to the days of nature... haha. Good thing we watch a lot of Survivor man and Man Vs. Wild ;)
