The 6-foot tall sculpture by J. Seward Johnson, Jr. depicts Marilyn in her famous pose from the film "The Seven-Year Itch," standing over a subway grating, her white skirt being swirled by the blast of warm air from below. It is this pose, it has been speculated, that caused a deep rift between Monroe and her then-husband, baseball legend, Joe DiMaggio. The piece is a cast bronze sculpture painted with a complex 10-layer patina process which gives depth to her skin tone. I cant shoot pictures in captivity, I mean studio set up, dont have it in me.
I am a natural light guy.. and my backup in dark situations is my fucked Nikon flash.
I believe in One God ..One Sun and the clouds are my guardian angels.,. I shoot pictures as I see then, I try not to play Devil and rob a picture of its Soul.
Almost all my 300 old cameras locked up in the show case look up at me and remind me of my pictorial quest.. love that fails me and fucked konked quest..

my wife was sitting besides me on the first picture and i saw the white background blur near his ear..i did not want to remove it, the next picture i selected the kid, and used motion blur at a certain degree diagonal.. asked her what she thought of it.. it was not a psd question, it was the eyes of the kid.. his mother the black madonna and child,.. pictures are god sent.. you cannot duplicate emotions, feelings the unwritten pain on the face ..but reflected in the ponds of human eyes..thank you debbie,..

Chop and Change

Chop and Change: An onion becomes part of my dinner. The two are very different both visually and taste wise. I used a large chopping knife to divide up the shot. This photo represents the fact that I have been taking a lot of shots of food recently, but with this photograph, I wanted to take it one step further than picturing the end produce. There are also some herbs growing in the background. They have drooped as the sunlight as dropped, responding or changing to the light. They too feature in an altered state as part of my dinner.

This is my first mission, so I haven't done two different interpretations of the theme, hopefully next time :)

Church summit points way ahead for MCC

AKRON, Pa. – The key stakeholders of Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), meeting here Jan. 31 to Feb. 1, reached crucial structural agreements that support MCC’s worldwide ministry for the 21st century.

That work, in about 60 countries at present, will continue unabated, according to Arli Klassen, executive director of the binational MCC. “Supporters in Canada and the United States, along with global partners, will continue to be engaged with MCC’s ministry in the name of Christ, as they always have been,” Klassen said.

In his opening meditation to the summit of denominational and organizational representatives, Danisa Ndlovu, president of Mennonite World Conference and bishop of the Zimbabwe Brethren in Christ Church, called the gathering a unique opportunity to discern together what it means to be the church.

Nine of the 13 denominations that support the Canada, U.S. and binational MCCs; along with the 12 MCC agencies in Canada and the United States; and Mennonite World Conference; sent a total of 62 representatives.

The summit marked a major threshold in MCC’s New Wine/New Wineskins revisioning and restructuring process. Participants reached agreement on important aspects of governance and management for the new MCC system.

“We are forging a renewed partnership,” said Neil Janzen of Winnipeg, Man., chair of the MCC Canada board.

The agreements – on agency roles, program administration and accountability to the church – will be written into bylaws and covenants expected to be endorsed in 2011, along with recommendations for a streamlined structure that will be implemented in 2012.

The work of MCC around the world will be collaboratively led by both MCC Canada and MCC U.S. They take over the role from the current binational MCC, which will end as an organization. The anticipated timing of this transition is early 2012.

A standing committee of the Canada and U.S. boards will foster and facilitate collaboration between MCC Canada and MCC U.S.

The summit agreements strengthen MCC’s accountability to its supporting denominations through renewed board representation. At least two-thirds of the membership of each MCC board will be official representatives of Anabaptist denominations in Canada and the U.S.

Participants also spoke to MCC’s role in global witness and service. The Global Anabaptist Service Consultation convened by Mennonite World Conference in August 2010 first considered an MCC proposal to facilitate relationships between and among Anabaptist service agencies worldwide, but decided instead to appoint a task force to explore a new global network. The Akron summit endorsed MCC’s participation in the proposed new Global Anabaptist Service Network.

Herman Bontrager of Akron, Pa., chair of the binational MCC Board, said an important intent of MCC restructuring “is to continue and deepen the mutual accountability of the global family of faith.”

“For 90 years MCC has been an inter-Mennonite agency that brought Mennonite and Brethren-in-Christ people together in responding to human need and building peace. It has been a vital instrument in connecting Canadian and U.S. Mennonites and Brethren-in-Christ with our counterpart churches in the rest of the world,” said Bontrager.

MCC’s “New Wine/New Wineskins: Reshaping MCC for the 21st Century” process included listening to and consultation with more than 2,000 people from 50 countries.

MCC U.S. Board chair Ann Graber Hershberger, of Harrisonburg, Va., was impressed by the summit’s interchange and sees the ongoing value of MCC’s close relationship with other parts of the church. “It is a rare privilege to participate in a meeting where church leaders discern with each other and MCC about what we are called to do as a Christian community. We ask church leaders to continue to walk with MCC in our shared ministry.”

A CF-18 fighter jet from 409 Tactical Fighter Squadron (409 Tac F Sqn) in Cold Lake, Alberta, flies past 19 Wing Comox, British Columbia, with Powel River in the background, as he prepares to land and will be remaining at 19 Wing in support of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games' security known as Operation PODIUM.

Operation PODIUM is the Canadian Forces (CF) contribution to the overall security of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in support of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)-led Integrated Security Unit. The Air Force's contribution is two-fold: The Air Component Command of Joint Task Force Games, which provides airlift, medical evacuation and area surveillance for the RCMP; and NORAD, which will ensure airspace security.

In preparation for the Games, security and public safety agencies from all levels of government are working together to ensure they are prepared to respond to any potential emergency on land, sea or in the air. The scope and scale of these Games will make it the largest domestic security operation to date in Canadian history.

A photo shoot is generally used in the fashion industry, whereby a model poses for a photographer at a studio where multiple photos are taken to find the best ones for the required brief.

I’m ready for my close up now.

I happened upon this girl with a bunch of balloons tied to herself and a man photographing her on my lunch break. The whole ordeal seemed slightly comical as their was a slight breeze out and she was struggling to keep control of all the balloons.

Once again my shyness with the camera around strangers hindered my ability to take a good street photography picture. I didn’t want to get to close and disrupt their flow, or even indicate that I was taking a photo of them. As such I am to far away, I’d say by about 15 to 20 feet. Street photograph always looks so easy to do. Simply point and shoot the camera. Perhaps the key is ones ability to feel comfortable shooting in crowded areas full of strangers.

This image started with a photo that I took back in 2005, with a low-resolution cell-phone camera. (I posted it here on December 19, 2005.) People seem to like that little photo, and I have been thinking about using it for holiday cards. Tonight I found the old jpeg on my computer, and imported it into iPhoto. Then I opened it in Painter for editing. The image was very small, so I resized the canvas. Then I posterized the image and changed the resolution. After that, I adjusted the brightness and sharpened the focus. Then I started turning this into a "digital woodcut", experimenting until I had the colors I wanted to see and the right amount of black. Finally I cropped it just a bit to get the composition that you see here.

Funny how the color changes between the other photo and this. These are actually closer to the real colors. I'm such a novice with photoshop...sometimes I feel like maybe I'm a little too dumb to be good at taking my own pictures of my products.....

Hm. Worked on this instead of my duet entry yesterday. Hopefully little edits I've been doing in the past two days will inspire me to work on it. .___.

The sim's name is Blake. Why? Dunno. He's pretty old. All I did was change is face a bit and changed his hair. The original idea was for everything to be like, purple but the hair recolor I did, didn't match the outfit. So I just went with orange. :B

Awh, for once flickr didn't resize my photo to 1024 x ###. I wonder why...because there is a size limit for nonpro account members. AH, WELL NOT GOING TO QUESTION IT, ANYMOREEe. 8D So, for once in a long time I'm saying all size it!

Always wanted to get into this "what I wore today" awesomeness but I never thought I'd get around to uploading a photo everyday. (Or even just regularly.) But then my phone got a memory card, and my life has changed forevermore.
