8MM Give captured seaside memories a beautiful place to be displayed with these Shimmering Seashell photo frames as your favors Guests’ cameras are sure to be snapping at your beautiful beach themed event. Measuring 2” x 4”, each silver metal frame features an intricate cutout sea shell design at its top backed with multicolored glitter to provide a shimmer through effect. Each Fashioncraft exclusive Shimmering Seashell frame has a 1 7/16” x 1 7/8” photo window and a hinged black easel back for easy photo insertion. Also picture perfect as a place card frame, each comes bulk packed in an individual poly bag witth a multicolor pastel stripe design “For You” insert included. This thoroughly unpleasant thriller from the hands of Joel Schumacher (Batman and Robin) offers very little in its lurid tour of snuff films and the seedy pornographic underworld. A wooden Nicolas Cage stars as a private detective hired by a tycoon's widow, who discovers in her dead husband's safe some 8mm footage of a young girl being sexually abused and slaughtered. Cage's job is to determine the veracity of the film and to find out the girl's identity, whether she be alive or dead. What could have been a taut, nerve-jangling thriller is instead a lumbering, overwrought but underwritten tale of vigilante justice. Screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker also penned the imaginative and compelling Seven, but you wouldn't know it from this tired and monotonous script. Schumacher tries for echoes of both The Silence of the Lambs and Paul Schrader's Hardcore (which stars George C. Scott as a father trying to find his daughter in the seedy porn industry), but despite some slick camerawork, the film fails to draw the audience into either the mystery of the missing girl or Cage's supposed internal conflicts. It's not so much the unsavory subject matter as it is the sloppy and unimaginative filmmaking that makes the movie unbearable. Of the entire cast only Joaquin Phoenix, as a charismatic goth boy who works at an adult book store, comes away with a memorable performance. --Mark Englehart (8) New Toy - outside Went to a car boot sale yesterday and came back with a number of new things to play with. This one is my favourite. And it cost a grand total of ?2. This is a Agfa Movex 88 movie camera from around 1957. It's a standard 8 camera that pre-dates super 8. I've no idea if it works or not, but it appears in pristine condition. Everything is mechanical - it's wound up using the dial you can see on the side. I really wouldn't know where to start in getting it working, so there's a challenge. There must be a manual out there somewhere.. I've seen one for sale on a website but it costs ten times as much as what I paid for the camera. I understand that although it's an 8mm camera it takes 16mm film. The camera exposes 8mm at once so the film is run through the camera twice so that both sides get exposed. Then when the film is processed the film is spliced and put back together so that the processed film is half as wide, yet twice as long as the original. The ability to be able to run the film through twice means that all kinds of effects and doble exposures are possible. Sounds fun, but probably a bit too advanced for me at the moment... If anyone knows more I would love to hear from them. Zen Garden Zen Garden- OOAK Fine Silver and Labdorite Necklace---by Art Jewelry Collection.com AKA twopretty.com This OOAK fine silver necklace is far more beautiful than captured by the camera. I fabricated the pendant from fine silver, and gave it a high polish without any patination/oxidation. The pendant measures 1 and 3/8" X 3/4", and is marked on the back with my signature mark, and .999. The beads are 8mm, grade AA labdorite, translucent with a lovely iridescence----the photos really do not do the color justice , but they are a very lovely shade of blue-gray. The chain, wire, and clasp are all sterling silver (.925). The necklace is 24" in length, and on myself, falls in to my cleavage. I can adjust the length for you if needed; 8mm camera for sale Academy Award® winner Nicolas Cage stars with Joaquin Phoenix and Catherine Keener in an electrifying thriller from the writer of Seven. Directed by Joel Schumacher (The Client, Batman Forever, A Time to Kill), this dramatic story follows one man's obsessive search for the truth about a six-year-old crime and his ultimate discovery of the truth about himself. Cesar Chavez 99 Luftballoons An art installation at the Cesar Chavez Park in San Jose by Hargreaves associates (in their younger days!!!). The installation is by Jenny Marketou, Katie Salen Artist Statement: Project Description: Everyone should be offered the opportunity to play with those maverick flying red messengers. 99 Red Balloons is a live action street game in which players control large red balloons equipped with wireless cameras that are designed to capture and record the game play. Each game is recorded and broadcast simultaneously on five flat screens located in the headquarters and lounge of the Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose, CA. 99 Red Balloons takes place in and around the grounds of the popular Cesar Chavez Plaza dedicated to community activities. The game requires players to redesign a set of fantastical mini-games in collaboration with members of the public. Nine teams with two leaders participate in each round: one plays the role of the Spy Fairy and the other that of the Aerial Navigator whose first move in the game is to convince members of the public to join their team. Players must use their imagination to create the most transgressive version of classic street games -- from massive multiplayer to spy and hide-n-seek in the sky games -- and then convince as many people as possible to come and play. The game is recorded live by Spy Fairy cameras attached to nine of the weather balloons that broadcast the footage back to the Game Headquarters, located in the Tech Museum. At the end of the play session (45 minutes in length), all players return to the Headquarters to view footage of the games, and to vote for the Spy Fairy and Aerial Navigator team with the best solution. Players thus also become jurors in this topsy-turvy game of change, where reinventing rules is the only way to play. Minox B This is my new Minox B camera. It's a vintage 1960s era sub mini film camera. It still works and I would really like to shoot it however it's rather expensive to buy and process the small film these days. Plus I'm not totally sure how it works yet! Probably not the best choice as my first foray into film cameras but the price was so perfect. The lens here is the standard one, a 6-inch f/4.5 Aldis-Butcher anastigmat. This has lost some paint (most noticably around the aperture markings, which does affect the ease of reading and adjusting the aperture when you have the camera on the strap), but the glass is in really good nick. The lens-board offers a small amount of rise and fall - about half an inch in each direction. I had a brainwave the other day, while kicking myself for not getting out in the sun with my Century Graphic. The lens I use most on that is a 127 mm f/4.7 Ysarex. That's five inches, and the Polaroid that the lens came from would take something like 4x5 inch polaroid stuff. Why not fit it on the Ensign, I thought, and see if I can get a slightly wider view. The answer is that it won't make infinity focus; the six-inch Aldis lens is very well sunk in, with about 90% of its length inside the camera. Still, I thought let's try it and see how bad it is. I've made a lens board (out of the hardboard back of one of those hardboard-glass-and-four-clips picture frames), and mounted the lens in it. Since the board has to slide in vertically, you have to fit the board, and then mount the lens, with one hand through the open focal-plane shutter to put the retaining ring on. Not something to do quickly in the field, I think. Anyhow, the focus thing is even worse than I expected; the far limit is under a metre, plus whatever I get by stopping down! I completed the board with a metal plate to let me use the rise though, and I even painted it black, so it doesn't look too bad. I mean to load up a batch of quarter plate and find something that photographs well close up. Radcliffe Camera, Oxford. Camera: Canon EOS 40D Exposure: 1/250 Aperture: f/4.0 Lens: EF17-40mm f/4L USM Focal Length: 17 mm ISO Speed: 200 The Radcliffe Camera The circular dome and drum of the Radcliffe Camera is one of the most distinctive landmarks in a city full of distinctive buildings. The camera (the word means simply "room") was built 1737-1749 with ?40,000 bequeathed by Dr John Radcliffe, the royal physician. The Radcliffe Camera was intended to house a new library, and designs were called for from several leading architects, including Nicholas Hawksmoor (responsible for much of All Soul's College) and James Gibbs. It was Gibbs who won the competition, with his elegant Palladian design, though his final plans drew heavily on earlier work by Hawksmoor. Gibbs was also responsible for the Church of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, in Trafalgar Square, London. Originally the library in the Radcliffe Camera held both scientific and general books, but those collections were gradually moved to other University libraries, so that today the Camera functions as the main reading room of the Bodleian Library. The finished building holds some 600,000 books in underground rooms beneath Radcliffe Square. camera lens mm meaning Sony announces the latest addition to its XDCAM family of tapeless acquisition tools with the launch of the exciting new XDCAM EXTM compact camcorder. Pricing Your Home To Sell Real Estate pricing is probably the most critical task you will face when selling your home. Sellers naturally want to get the best price and the best terms for their home for the time that it is on the market. However, determining your home’s worth isn’t always a straight forward process as there are pitfalls. If you price your house too high, you may not receive any offers. and your house may languish on the market for weeks, losing its “marketability”. If you price it too low, you may end up losing money. Ultimately, the best price for your home is the amount that a buyer is willing to pay at the time you’re selling. An experienced, trained Realtor® will be able to help you gauge your home’s value. A Guide to Pricing Your Home In Today’s Market While several factors influence the pricing of a home, the most common and reliable method is the comparative market approach. Get a Comparative Market Analysis (CMA). This is a report that provides a suggested sales price based on the prevailing market. Your Realtor® can provide a CMA, usually for free. It is not an appraisal. In a CMA, your Realtor® examines recent sales in your neighborhood of properties matching your house’s age, square footage and features. Active listings (other homes for sale) are scrutinized as these listings are your competition. An examination should also be made of withdrawn and expired listings. Very often these listings didn’t sell because of pricing issues and you can profit from these lessons. Based on this accumulated data, your Realtor will arrive at what he believes is a fair and reasonable price. CONSIDERATIONS WHEN PRICING YOUR HOME Property Location – If the home is located in a noisy, busy neighborhood it may not be attractive and, therefore, will command a lower price. Is it in a desirable location? Is the property close to transportation and other amenities such as schools, shopping centers, post offices, etc? Needs of the seller – Is there pressure to sell quickly? Is the sale contingent on another sale? Season – Statistically, more homes are put on the market in the Spring and Summer creating more competition. Tenure – Is the property leasehold or fee simple? Generally, leasehold properties sell for less than fee simple properties. Condition of the home – Does the house have “curb appeal”? Is it new? Does it look fresh or run down? Does it have attractive features? Other factors – These include the prevailing interest rates, the economy, the crime rate, employment and timing. Remember, when pricing your home, you must be emotionally detached. The market doesn’t care how much you originally paid for your house. Nor does it care about the time and cost that you put into improving it. In slow markets especially, you must be prepared to price your property in keeping with the market forces. There is a danger in overpricing your home with the intent to establish a “strong” negotiating position. Qualifying buyers who would otherwise consider your property will disqualify it automatically based on its unreasonably high price. WHAT YOU CAN DO TO SELL YOUR HOME QUICKLY Work closely with your Realtor®. Ask questions and consider his/her advice. This person is a trained professional. Your Realtor’s® knowledge of the market along with his/her negotiation skills, experience and “street smarts” will serve you well. Make your house more attractive. This doesn’t mean you have to launch major improvements. Look at your house through the eyes of a prospective buyer: Does the lawn need to be mowed? Should clutter be removed? Would the front door benefit from a little paint? Go on a field trip. Visit open houses in your neighborhood to get a feel for the market. Compare your home to these real estate offerings. Do your research. Scan the real estate section of the Sunday newspaper for any new houses for sale in your area. REAL ESTATE TERMINOLOGY The specialized language of real estate can often be confusing and mysterious. Here are some common terms that you’ll encounter: "Geometry" - Beneath the Taj Scorgan 52 Week 10: Geometry Perusing the photographs taken on my travels in India left me with the distinct impression that just about any photograph of a Rajasthani building would satisfy the theme of "Geometry" -- domes, arches, scalloped porticos and symmetric paneling adorn most historic buildings in the region, and the geometric patterns and intricate tiling recur throughout the structures. But it would be difficult to deny that the most geometrically complex patterns occur at Agra's Taj Mahal... Leaving Delhi, we'd been too late to reserve a seat on the morning train to Agra (the passenger manifests are issued at 9 PM the previous evening) and had to resort to the [sometimes successful] ploy of purchasing general seating tickets, sitting in the assigned seating AC car and bribing the ticket taker to let us pay the difference between general tickets and assigned seating. (Note: in India, "general seating" refers to the mode of seating in which 400 people cram into a car built for a capacity of 50 in no particular order, then proceed to pile on top of one another until passengers' heads are hitting the ceiling of the cabin..."general seating" is also code for "No AC in the sweltering 100+ degree Fahrenheit Rajasthan summer) This approach typically works because (a) the AC cars in the trains from Delhi to Agra rarely fill because most Indian citizens choose general seating and (b) the ticket takers like bribes. Slight problem: a British secondary school group on tour through India jovially marched in and occupied every AC seat in the car. Long story made slightly less long: we marched ourselves 10 cars back to the general seating cars and camped out on the floor in a connecting corridor with our feat hanging out the train. At least it provided a good view of the Indian countryside... Fast forward to Agra where our first task was, obviously, to make it to the Taj Mahal. Parmita had dressed as conservatively as possible to convince the ticket sales office that she was an Indian citizen (tourists are charged an admission price 10x that of Indian citizens at most attractions, and thanks to her Gujarati heritage and fluent Hindi, Parmita typically has a pretty easy time pulling off the ruse) but we found ourselves barred from the Taj when they noticed her leading around a bumbling, awkward, Amazonian white girl with big sunglasses and a massive camera around her neck. Forty-five minutes later we'd made the circuit around all four entrances to the Taj; at the fourth the ticket taker threw up his hands and allowed Parmita in with a citizen discount. And then I went to Stereotypical-Taj-Mahal-Tourist-Photographing Heaven. Although I should have expected it, I was disappointed by how difficult it was to take a picture of the structure that didn't seem tired and cliched. And so I concentrated my efforts on the details rather than the structure as a whole. I stationed myself at the base of the platform leading to the mausoleum, where no one was stopping to photograph -- presumably due to the rust stains, dirt, and inhibited view of the palace. I found that I liked the contrast between the glitzy and glorified tourist monument and the age and wear that showed in the surroundings when you looked closer. Got bicycles? Got bicycles? Amsterdam does! I was told a lot of things I would see when going to Amsterdam: Anne Frank's house, canals, architecture, the red light district, drug / pot / coffee shops, , etc. etc. I did not expect to see this many bicycles. Far more in fact then when I lived in Seoul Korea and they line just about every available area. The boat tour guide told us it's so bad that if your bike is left unlocked it might not be stolen it just might be thrown into the canal to make room for someone else's bike! A590IS CHDK Photo taken with Canon PowerShot A590IS with CHDK installed. On the upper right is a 100% view on the in-camera jpg, bottom right is the converted raw file. In camera setting is custom, with contrast, saturation and sharpening lower than the standard setting. I applied some wavelet denoising to the raw file, but less than the camera did to the jpg. Compared to the in-camera jpg it has even lower saturation and some high-pass sharpening. Better in my opinion. Shadow detail is improved as well. Noise at ISO 80 is comparable to a recent DSLR set at ISO 800-1600. OK for smallish prints. Full manual mode, focussing in macro mode, the lens is probably not at its best at this distance. Exif data is copied from in-camera jpg. RAW may or may not be interesting to have on a point&shoot, but other CHDK capabilities make the install worth the while in my opinion. The full picture version is the one converted from raw. Lighting: One Nikon SB800 and one Metz MZ 40 bounced off the ceiling, MZ40 integrated mini-flash directed towards Luna. Flashes positioned right and left from Luna. The AS590 flash is manually set to minimum power and is not contributing to the lighting, it only triggered the two other flashes. Yes, off-camera flash is possible even without a hotshoe! :-) Need help with new camera choice I'm looking for a new camera - I gave my old one to the boys... I'm looking for something small, compact, powerful with a good macro capability and zoom. I'm a lover of the Canon S2 and S3 IS. I heard the S5 is not worth the money. I'm thinking about the SX10 IS or something similiar. Where I'm going in Afghanistan it wouldn't be practical to have a DSLR with lenses and other accessories. I was in a local camera shop yesterday and I liked a few of the canons and Olympus cameras - I saw one tiny Olympus that was the righ size but it felt cheap.... So, put yourself in my shoes...what camera would you get...one that can fit in a lare pocket/pouch and takes good macro....??? You have to answer quick, though, as I'm leaving very soon... Glasses: See behind you without them knowing (18) Canon Photo5 2011 Macro Brief submitted (Foam) Canon Photo5 2011 Competition entry #1 Through a Pet's Eyes//Open Brief This brief asks you to look at things a little differently. Capture the world as it’s seen through the eyes of an animal. Use any effect or technique you like to capture their point of view, their side of the story. Judge's Notes: Get creative and think laterally with this brief. Pets see things from peculiar angles, but they also have a different understanding of the world than we do, communicating this will be the challenging and fun part of this brief. My responce: Title Carefully spying and avoiding a worming tablet Photographer michael jenkin Photo Description Taken from inside the basket. Some animals suffer fisheye and have IR vision. I wanted this photo to represent their view. The tablet was hard to make white. I used IR 700nm, screw on Fish Eye lens. Tuna, Tablet and a ball. Cut a hole in the basket. I will let you guess the animal. They can see normal colour and some IR. The animal peers out to the tablet. Photo Details Camera: EOS 350D Lens: EF 24mm f/2.8 Aperture: F8 ISO: 400 Tags mickyj, IR, Fish Eye, basket, tablet #2 Foam//Macro This brief encourages you to look at everyday things by getting closer to them. Take this ordinary soap, turn it into foam and make it amazing. See how it interacts with light, what shapes it creates, try colouring it. Get creative, just stay close. Judge's Notes: A macro lens would help with this brief, but it’s certainly not crucial. As your lens gets in closer to your subject, your depth of field will get narrower, so note where your focus is. Take some time to experiment with the foam and what you can do with it before you start shooting. Also consider what the foam is on, as this will dramatically change how the light plays off it. My responce: Title Refraction and beauty Photographer michael jenkin Photo Description This is the raw bubble without modification to the solution. No food colouring etc. Place the bubble on a DVD disk (With a teaspoon) and then bounce light off of it. Get really close with your lens and try to get the correct focus. Use a remote release and tripod. Used halogen globes to illuminate. Photo Details Camera: EOS 5D Lens: MP-E65mm f/2.8 1-5x Macro Aperture: F16 ISO: 400 Tags Mickyj, buble, foam, DVD, light, rainbow #3 Sequins//Low light This brief forces you to really consider the way you use light when you don't have very much of it. Think of sequins like little mirrors reflecting light, they're your accents in the scene, use them wisely and feel free to get more and use as many as your vision requires. Just remember, low light photography is all about getting detail in the dark. Judge's Notes: In low light photography you need to concentrate on the black as much as the light. Sequins can define the shape of things they are placed on, but also can be a backdrop for something placed in front of them. Get creative with your light set up, you don't need to have expensive equipment to make the most of this challenge. My responce: Title An angels halo Photographer michael jenkin Photo Description Created very small angels with pins as heads. Glued red sequins to the pins. These are very small. Laid the remaining sequins at the feet of the angels but tried to make the angels the focus. Turned off the lights, turned the angels heads to the camera, exposed for 10 seconds and used a torch to "light paint" just the angels in the foreground. The backround did not espose at all as it was dark. Photo Details Camera: EOS 5D Lens: EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM Aperture: F16 ISO: 400 Tags mickyj, angel, dark, halo #4 Powder//Fast Shutter This breif is abount capturing a fleeting moment using powder in a surprising way. You can use the powder provided or find your own. Use a little or a lot. Combine colours if you like and expeariment with light and setting. And don't be afraid to make a mess. Judge's Notes: Think about whether you want to make the powder the entire subject of your shot, or an element within it. Given this is a fast shutter brief, your photo could be about the movement of the powder itself or about something within or around it. Either way, creating a dynamic shot is key. My responce: Title Painting ZigZags in Canon Dust Photographer michael jenkin Photo Description This is harder than it looks. Manual focus, blur background with F stop selection. 3 halogen globes. Black background.Spoon, draw a zigzag in the out of focus area. Use the spoon to drop the dust in the in focus area. Pray you get the shot right. Photo Details Camera: EOS 5D Lens: Other Aperture: F2.8 ISO: 400 Tags fast, powder, dust, mickyj, spoon #5 Ribbon//Panning This brief is about movement of both camera and subject. The challenge is to make your subject central to the image (in or out of sharp focus) while it, or the camera, moves. The subject does not have to be the ribbon, but the ribbon must be All the time in the Spring, 8 seconds I finished up my St. Johns Bridge class last Thursday and spent my Saturday evening and Sunday teaching as well. But now it is Wednesday and I have had some time to reflect on those experiences and thought I would share some of my thoughts on how I like teaching and my experiences in general. This shot is a good place to start. One thing I always feel a bit awkward about on workshops or classes is shooting myself. I never feel quite comfortable with taking a lot of pictures while I am out teaching others, for starters, I am being paid to be out there to help them take photos, not for them to watch me take them. But on the other hand I had a student suggest that I should actually try to shoot more than I do because it could be a helpful tool to them to see what I do while they are out in that area. Which is a good point. Newspace does an awesome job structuring workshops though in such a way that generally allows me to work around this. The classes I teach there are generally broken up into three components. The first class session is a few hours long in the digital studio and involves lecture, discussion and a slide show. This is when I generally show my own photography and talk about the area we will be shooting or the topic covered. The second is generally the in-the-field portion, with the third being a follow-up/critique. Almost like three classes in one really. But to get back onto the topic of shooting on the workshop itself, I think there is a poor practice amongst some photographers, who think that it would be a grand idea to get a bunch of people to pay them to go out somewhere, teach a few fundamentals and then get to take a bunch of their own photos, in essence getting a free trip. Thankfully none of the photographers I know of teaching on Flickr fall into this category. In fact, I have heard great things about those workshops led by many of the Pacific Northwestern photographers I know. But in the past few workshops I have taught I have had a few students comment on having experienced this firsthand. So my advice if you are planning on starting to teach workshops is to forget about your own cameras. Leave them in the car if you have to. You are not on assignment to shoot, but rather to make sure everyone else brings home the shots. The other interesting experience I have been having is that not everyone takes a class to be taught. I have found that generally half of my students are truly beginners with lots of technical questions. The other half tend to be photographers who are not looking for education as much as they are looking for inspiration. For them, a workshop is a guarantee they can put on their calendar that they will get out with other photographers on this day, get to see how they shoot, pick up new ideas themselves, interact and so forth. I always consider my job then to be part teacher and part cheerleader. It isn't enough just to explain shutter speeds and apertures and then turn them all loose. You have to keep feeding them bits of inspiration here, new ideas for angles there, and I find that even with a group as small as three, I am kept hopping around pretty much constantly. But it is enjoyable too. Take my last workshop up at Rowena Crest for example. We made a break to head back down to Mosier and decided to stop at the cherry orchards on the way back for some shooting. I was working with one fellow who had been shooting a lot of macro when I spied some grass blowing in the wind. The stalks made a really nice abstract pattern, so I went and hooked this fellow and showed him what I was seeing, or at least I thought I was, turned out I wasn't though. So he set up and took to shooting this little clump of grass enthusiastically and I wandered off to check on my other students. I came back a few minutes later and he showed me some of his shots on the back of his camera. They were completely different than what I had envisioned, and completely beautiful. So much so that I actually got down on my belly in the grass next to him to enjoy the angle as well. It was a great moment where my inspiration fed his, and he in turn realized a completely different perspective that inspired me and showed me something that I had not seen. In a workshop that included a lot of good moments like that, this one was one of the best. Phew, now I am running late for work, so though I have a bit more to say, I guess I had better save it for a later post. But hopefully there are a few helpful nuggets in what I have written today. This image by the way was one of about five total pictures I took during my St. Johns Bridge workshop. I shot two pinhole shots, and about three with my Pentax all evening long. I couldn't pass this one up though, despite my many trips here I had never quite seen it from this perspective before. PS, not a shot by one of my students but this shot by one of my co-workers is nonetheless an interesting image of the bridge. Playgrounds director Leon van Rooij asked us, like 6 months ago, if we wanted to do the titles for this years' fest. I quote: "Playgrounds is a two-day festival in Tilburg, the Netherlands, where you can see the best digital audiovisual art in the world, such as musicvideos, animations, commercials, character design, VFX and games AND you can find out how it's been made during artist lectures and Q&A's." Of course we said yes, because doing titles for festivals like these are rare opportunities. So we welcomed it with open arms. Next to that, we've been involved in the festival for 3 years now and we are the first ones to design a title sequence for this festival. What a burden... ;) With no creative brief and even less budget, we slowly started thinking, concepting, designing, thinking of how we could create something impressive, something new, something with a lot of production value but produce-able within 3 weeks and of course something we had not done before with our team, to challenge ourselves even more. We ended up with the idea to have 2 fighters fighting over whatever on a childrens' payground. Kind of a metaphor for a creative process, which can be a battle sometimes.. kill your darlings.. etc.. etc... Anyway, this could become visually very interesting, so we thought. We focused on the image, look and feel, a bit more than we used to this time, simply because we wanted to. We did some research, especially on the visual style in photography, the air we wanted the film to breath. Initially, the film needed to be very slow paced, almost like a dance on classical music in ultra slow motion, this was still the idea at the time when we shot the images. Just ultra slow motion, shooting with a phantom camera would not do the trick for us. We wanted to have more control over the slow motion in post production, still be be able to decide camera angles and motion. To do this we used the camera mapping technique in 3D. The production was made fairly simple compared to live-action shoots with high speed camera's shooting on location. By using this technique, simply because we only needed still images, we wrapped the shoot in 3 hours. Our photographer, Jasper Faber did an outstanding job by using only 2 flash lights, a camera and a macbook. In post production we changed the direction a little, we wanted more action. Jasper took a bunch of photo's which I found out could work just fine in a quick sequence. The contrast between the ultra slow-motion image and super fast paced short sequences made it more powerful and dramatized the impact of the slow motion sequence. Joris, our sound designer did what was necessary to enhance the impact even more. For the production of this shoot we contacted rotterdam based production company Revolver and asked them if they wanted to help us out producing the shoot. Luckily they said yes They just contracted photographer Jasper Faber who was willing to shoot the images and help us out with the production, since we knew that post production would be very time consuming. Revolver helped us out producing it, so we could focus on direction and post production. The people who saw it thus far, all responded to the film equally, asking the same question "... how did you shoot it, with a phantom?" .. no, it's all 3D. It took about three hours to get to this point and another two to get back to the coast, and this was the only whale we saw, but I think it was worth it, still. Note that the location on the map is very much guesswork. (Should have packed the GPS, oops.) PINHOLE CAMERA PAPER. PINHOLE CAMERA
Pinhole Camera Paper. 2011 Best Compact Camera Pinhole Camera Paper
Macrobar pinhole camera I saw the challenge on the Macrobar website to reuse empty Macrobar boxes. I turned one into a pinhole camera. The white paper next to the box/camera is a paper negative. There's a light leak on the negative, so the camera could use a little work, but the basic function is down. Angela Wang Pinhole camera This is my first fully functioning model of my design. Sadly it leaked light all over the place and I only got one half image from the roll. Never mind. a whole new set of upgrade packages, redesigns and modified techniques have have feed into my second functioning model soon to be tested.
