Turkey Noodle Casserole




Turkey Noodle Casserole





Celery, water chestnuts, and mushrooms add texture and crunch to this ground turkey casserole. Makes enough so that you can freeze half for another day.

2 lbs ground turkey
2 cups chopped celery
1/4 cup chopped green pepper
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 can cream of mushroom soup, undiluted.
1 can of sliced water chestnuts (about 8 ounces)
8 oz sliced mushrooms
1 can of corn
1/4 cup of soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup sour cream
8 ounces cooked wide egg noodles
Bread Crumbs (optional)

Cook egg noodles, set aside for later.
In a large pot over medium heat, cook turkey until it just starts to brown. Add celery, green pepper, and onion, and cook until meat is no longer pink and veggies just start to soften. Stir in water chestnuts, soup, mushrooms, corn, soy sauce, salt. Reduce heat, simmer for 20 minutes.

Remove from heat; add sour cream and noodles. Mix well. Set aside half for freezing, place remaining mixture in a greased baking dish. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
If desired, top with bread crumbs and uncover for an additional 10 minutes.

To use frozen casserole: Thaw in refrigerator overnight, transfer to greased baking dish, and bake as directed above.

This is a photo of some of the liquor in that was supposed to make up a pre-game. In addition to this, there were 6 cases of beer in the refrigerator. I took this photo because I was amazed that such a relatively small group of people (about 35) could drink so much liquor in such a small amount of time. Between the house of 9pm and 11pm, all of the liquor was gone and about 20 beers remained. And this was just the pre-game. At 11pm, people left to go party, and drink even more. These bottles and cans were all recycled, showing the environmental awareness of the party-thrower. This photo provides an opportunity for JMU illustrate that yes, you can get very drunk, but the next day, simply recycle your huge amounts of beer cans and liquor bottles. Recycling shows that the partier's respect their environment and take responsibility for their actions the night before. If one person can convince another to recycle their beer cans, we can create a recycling movement across JMU parties campus-wide.
