phantom love: what is it, that I am?
(May 21, 2008)
You canít just say you love me. Love isnít words.
Love is time -- spent over the span of a life.
Words are a phantom love.
I canít mend your hurting heart.
I donít even know why I should try.
Empty, adrift. You are searching for something.
Crying out, and I hear you.
But I cannot help.
You canít just say Iím sorry.
Love is known through a lifetime of being, searching, knowing.
Love is acceptance. Endurance. Forgiveness.
Each of these is evident -- if you love.
What is it that I am to you?
Do you feel you cannot provide for me the things I crave?
I am fully aware and accepting, that I am the woman you both shaped over time.
Strong. Capable. Faithful.
Afraid. Careful. Wounded.
You donít have to heal me, that task is all mine.
All you have to do is BE,
in my life.
You canít just say you love me Ė show me, you donít regret, that I am.
What IS That?
A friend said it looked like lettuce, so I decided it was good enough.
This is actually a dragon statue. I took the photo from under its mouth. There's a salmon colored stone candle holder in the background, and a wolf's hindquarters, just to add to the confusion.
