First proof and I need some help. It is meant to be the horse on the right and is for my sister and the owner, so no pressure! The mane seems too busy and in a different style to the forelock plus it is white, as is part of his forelock. Do I thin the lines down mre or get rid of some or what? Any feedback gratefully recieved. This is the first time I've tried to actually make one look like something real. Image is 4 inches high

There are ten species of Maple trees that are native to Canada and at least one of these species grows in every province.
Happy Victoria Day!
I designed a Canadian silver coin just for the statutary holiday today.

Pink Fire - Glass Fire Opal and Antiqued Silver
Stunning pink glass fire opal with antiqued silver filigree setting and chain.
This glass fire opal is a fiery blaze of pink, gold and blue flashes! I placed this glass gem into a Victorian style antiqued silver filigree setting. Antiqued silver chain is a medium weight flattened curb that lies flat against the skin and has a beautiful sheen!
Cabochon measures 18mm. Entire setting is about 28mm or slightly more than one inch in diameter. Choker length chain is 16 1/2 inches plus a 2 1/2 inch extender chain.
Glass fire opals are amazing works of art. Sometimes called Harlequin Glass Art, they are known for their brilliant flashes of color. They are personally one of my favorite stones!
Metal components in this design are all high quality heavily plated antiqued sterling silver.
Glass Fire Opal Pendant
Stunning glass fire opal and antiqued silver pendant necklace!
I designed this pendant using an 18mm "Dragon's Breath" glass jewel and mounted it into an antiqued silver setting with crown edging. A small antiqued silver teardrop dangles below the pendant. Heart shaped bail connects the pendant to a medium weight antiqued silver chain.
Measures 18 inches. Finished with a lobster claw clasp.
Glass fire opals are one of my favorite stones! Often called Dragon's Breath - or sometimes Mexican glass opal - it is made from transparent smooth reddish pink glass with electric flashes of blue and purple colors that change as light passes through it. These jewels are known for their dazzling beauty and brilliance.

SILVER NITRATE AND COPPER. SILVER NITRATE
Silver nitrate and copper. Silver state quarter sets. Silver basketball pendants
Silver Nitrate And Copper
- (AgNO3) is a soluble salt of silver and a corrosive compound. It produces a gray or black stain on skin. As a light-sensitive material, it is used in preparing photographic film. It is also used in making silver-based explosives and in staining biological samples for research.
- A colorless solid, soluble in water, formerly used in photography
- a nitrate used in making photographic emulsions; also used in medicine as a cautery and as a topical antibacterial agent
- Silver nitrate is an inorganic compound with chemical formula . This compound is a versatile precursor to many other silver compounds, such as those used in photography. It is far less sensitive to light than the halides.
- A police officer
- coat with a layer of copper
- a copper penny
- a ductile malleable reddish-brown corrosion-resistant diamagnetic metallic element; occurs in various minerals but is the only metal that occurs abundantly in large masses; used as an electrical and thermal conductor
Chemistry
Perhaps the earliest reference to the concept of silver-based black and white photography is that of J. H. Schulze who observed in 1727 that a mixture of silver nitrate and chalk darkened on exposure to light. The first semi-permanent images were obtained in 1824 by Nicephore Niepce, a French physicist, using glass plates coated with a dispersion of silver salts in bitumen (a coal derivative). In the early 1830’s, Niepce's partner, Louis Daguerre, discovered by accident that mercury vapor was capable of developing an image on a silver-plated copper sheet that had been previously sensitized by iodine vapor. The image, which was called a daguerreotype, could be made permanent by washing the plate with hot concentrated salt solution. In 1889 Daguerre demonstrated his photographic process to the Academy of Sciences in Paris. The process was later improved by using sodium thiosulfate to wash off the unexposed silver salts.
In 1841, an Englishman, William Henry Fox Talbot introduced a new system, the calotype process. The Talbot process involved a paper than had been sensitized to light by a coating of silver iodide. A negative image was produced on the exposed light-sensitive paper by bathing it in a solution of gallic acid in a development process essentially the same as that used today. If the paper base employed was semitransparent, the original negative image could be laid over another piece of sensitized paper which, when exposed and developed, yielded a "positive," or direct copy of the original. The process would be equivalent to what is termed "contact printing" today. Although the calotype process required less time than that of Daguerre, the Talbot images were not particularly sharp because of the fluidity of the medium employed to suspend the silver iodide crystals.
Originally, the silver salts were held on glass using egg white as a binder. This provided relatively sharp images although they were easily damaged. By 1871, the problem had been solved by Dr. R. L. Maddox, an amateur photographer and physician, who discovered a way to prepare gelatin dispersions of silver salts on glass plates. In 1887 George Eastman introduced the Kodak system in which a silver halide-in-gelatin dispersion was coated on a cellulose nitrate base and loaded into a camera. The camera could take 100 pictures and when all were exposed, camera and film were returned to Rochester, New York, for processing. With those innovations the age of modern photography had arrived.

Tiff's Necklace
I made this one for Joel's sister-in-law. She and Joel's brother Micah were in Seattle for a layover from England to Alaska. I consider it a kind of swap because I knew that she was bringing me the almighty Cadbury and a gift (which turned out to be a fantastic Beatles shirt from liverpool!!) The necklace is silver on green and brown silk ribbons with Green Pearls and Peridot. . The earrings are silver with green pearls ad peridot. She loved them. Not really a jewelry wearer, but liked them for ren-faire (as i pretty much figured)

Fruit Punch Bracelet
While I was on vacation I saw these great orange, pink and yellow Toho beads. At the time I had no idea what I would do with them. Then it came to me match them up with 3mm transparent frosted rainbow glass cubes in a herringbone stitch. Fruit Punch reminds me of a punch bowl with fruit and ice floating around. I finished this festive bracelet off with a great sterling silver toggle clasp I got from a fellow Jet, Vandiva. Fruit Punch was hand stitched using Fireline to ensure it's durable. Fruit Punch measures 7" x just over 1 1/2".
Indigo Freshwater Pearl and Swarovski crystal Bracelet
This 7.5-inch bracelet features indigo-colored freshwater pearls, Montana blue Swarovski crystal beads, and Swarovski crystal squaredelles and rondelles. I have finished the piece with a sterling silver toggle clasp. A personal favorite!

The FLIRT Necklace
Pretty billowing shades of soft muted pink, lavender, amethyst and gunmetal grey create this very elegant necklace. The glass focal was handmade by me in the flame. Soft pink flowers float suspended in a shimmering dichroic and gunmetal grey background covered in a clear transparent.
The glass focal has been wrapped and coiled from top to bottom with solid sterling silver wire. Clustered below the focal bead and up along the chain are top quality AAA faceted purple amethyst, rose de france, moonstone, natural chalcedony, pink amethyst, pink rose quartz and tiny freshwater pearls. At the very bottom is a very large and amazing faceted mystic topaz briolette.
This stunning piece hangs from a customized 31 inch solid sterling silver rolo chain with pretty staggered links and clusters of gems. The focal center drops down another 3.25 inches from the center. Love the long length of this necklace... it can be layered or worn alone and is oh so feminine and chic!
The ARISTA Necklace
Arista is the name of a star in the constellation VIRGO. This piece reminds me of the heavinly stars with spectacular shades of sapphire blue which is also the virgo birthstone. A simple yet stunning piece that can be worn time and time again. The beautiful glass lampwork focal bead was handmade by my husband (Aaron Holm) in the flame. Pure borosilicate glass created by hand, no presses were used to create this unique piece. The beautiful shape craeates so much depth and shine.
The glass bead is finished with solid sterling silver wire wrapped for a pretty and elegant touch. Dropping below is a "WOW" faceted checker cut blue london topaz briolette. All wire is oxidized for a very romantic and elegant look. The focal bead hangs from a 16 inch rolo sterling silver chain. Focal center drops down another 3 inches from the center of the chain.

Reflection in Time - sterling, African green jasper and thai hill tribe silver necklace
This lovely one-of-a-kind necklace features African green jasper beads and a pendant that has been hand-wrapped in reclaimed sterling silver. It is completed with a handmade hammered Thai hill tribe silver toggle clasp.
The classification and naming of jasper presents an enormous challenge. Terms attributed to various well-defined materials includes the geographic locality where it is found, sometimes quite restricted such as "Bruneau" (a canyon) and "Lahontan" (a lake), rivers and even individual mountains, many are fanciful such as "Forest Fire" or "Rainbow", while others are descriptive such as "Autumn", "Porcelain" or "Dalmatian". A few are designated by the country of origin such as a Brown Egyptian or Red African leaving tremendous latitude as to what is called what.
African green jasper is said to help balance the factors in life and is especially beneficial to the heart chakra as well as the digestive organs.
Thai Hill Tribe silver is created with "high content" silver which guarantees silver purity of up to 98%.
Thai hill tribe silver beads and pendants are handmade by the Karen Hill Tribe in northern Thailand using traditional tribal methods passed down from generation to generation.
By removing the middleman and working with Thai artists directly, our supplier of Thai silver helps both sustain a traditional craft and provide the Karen Hill Tribe people with maximum profitability and a reliable source of income for Karen artisans and their families.

Linger a Little Longer - sterling, rhyolite and thai hill tribe silver necklace
This earthy one-of-a-kind necklace features rhyolite beads and a pendant that has been hand-wrapped in sterling silver. It is completed with a handmade hammered Thai hill tribe silver toggle clasp.
Rhyolite is an igneous rock with high silica content - chemically identical to granite, that cooled from a molten state too quickly for crystals to form. The stone's mossy greens, browns and grays are reminiscent of a rainforest, and it presents interesting banding.
This stone is much less common than granite, but can be found in large deposits in Yellowstone Park in Wyoming, USA.

Vintage blue & silver dress
Here is a vintage - maybe 1938? - dress that belonged to my mother. I had forgotten that I had it. Cleaning a bit today (what with spring and all) and opened a long forgotten metal under-the-bed-case. There I found this dress, some interesting silk garments, an ancient full slip (you know, wear it under the dress), and a stunning black dress with gold decoration. In addition I found a child's romper - home-made - and I can guess who the child was who wore it.
This dress would have been very uncomfortable to wear for anyone with sensitive skin.

Rogers is an outspoken proponent of the free market, but he does not consider himself a member of any school of thought. Rogers acknowledged, however, that his views best fit the label of Austrian School of economics.[2] However, in 2010, he was awarded the Schlarbaum Prize by the Ludwig von Mises Institute for his "investment outlook, which is solidly rooted Misesian theory, not only of business cycles but of the costs of the welfare-warfare state," thus (implicitly) accepting his views as uniquely and solidly as part of the Austrian tradition.[3]
