3. Here In My Car

Bit of irony going on here again, mainly because I still haven't passed my driving test.

Elvira's Macabre Mobile

Elvira's 1959 Ford Thunderbird AKA "Macabre Mobile"

This came as a 1:24 scale plastic 1958 Thunderbird Model kit which I modified to be a 1959 Thunderbird. I removed the 4 pieces of trim on the door and the Thunderbird script from the front fenders. Painted it black and did the interior in a faux leopard skin look.

This image shows the hands I made for the fenders. The latest version of the Macabre Mobile has chrome plated skeleton hands on both front fenders with large Eyes on top of them. Mine don't really have the eyes, at least not yet. It's mostly done but I still have a bit to do here and there. I'm just excited to see it together.

The wheels should be chrome... But, I decided to take some artistic license and see what I'd think about them being black. Well, actually, I started out with them being a really dark red. Which I liked, but after seeing what this clear red did to the engine block, I decided to paint them black and coat them with clear red. It gives the impression of dried blood or at least very dark blood red. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to add a couple more coats tot he wheels since they don't have that red tint after one coat.

In 1974, BMX Products, Inc., later to be known as Mongoose Bicycles, launched from a humble garage. The "car navi" amazed me. It had the standard TV and GPS capabilities, but my excitement was tripled when he turned on the Energy Monitor and I realized I was in a Prius for the first time. This shows exactly when the front wheels and engine and motor are being gas-powered or battery-powered, and when the battery is receiving charge from coasting wheels. So cool!

Still a 3.0 litre inline 6 cylinder engine with direct injection, it produces 335 hp (250 kW) at 5900 rpm and 332 lb·ft (450 N·m) torque from 1500-4500 rpm (with +369 lb·ft (500 N·m) overboost). The redline is 7,000 rpm. Official 0-60 mph time is 4.7 seconds, quarter mile (~400 m) in 13.2 seconds. The car is electronically limited to 155 mph (250 km/h) top speed. There is an M Drive button that activates a quicker throttle response program. The sole available gearbox is a 6-speed manual transmission with an M gearshift knob, dry sump lubrication system, and 3.15:1 final drive ratio.

The body on the BMW 1 Series M Coupe has been modified as well, giving the car a significantly wider track and bigger body, as well as a subtle body kit to distinguish it from the standard 1 Series. Despite the car's larger size, it is 77 lb (35 kg) lighter, giving it a weight of 3,296 lb (1,495 kg).

The 1 Series M Coupe is available in Valencia Orange and Black Sapphire colors, both metallic. Only non-metallic color available is Alpine White. All 1 M Coupe comes with Y-Spoke Style 359M alloy wheels.

BMW was originally going to release the E82 1M Coupe as a limited edition model of approximately 2700 units. Due to positive response, the company lifted the cap and will produce as many E82 1M Coupes as they can until production ends in Spring of 2012.

The 1M was featured on Top Gear on 26 June 2011 and recorded a time of 1:25.0 round the Top Gear test track (the fastest M series BMW so far) and also beat the Porsche Cayman R and Lotus Evora S in a drag race. Its range is 140 kilometres (87 mi) and the engine has maximum peak torque of 150 newton metres (110 ft·lbf). Its also possible to charge batteries to 80% in 50 minutes using 3-phase power supply (380V Superfast charger).

The aluminum-bodied car weights only 542 kg (1,195 lb) with batteries. The car has normal options like: central locking, electric windows and mirrors, CD/MP3-player and 15-inch alloy wheels.

Janet Rivera put her heavy burgundy bag on her bed before opening the zip. She took out her dark clothes before putting them back in her closet. She didn’t want to leave, so she won’t. She wanted to postpone the departure as most as possible. Her father knocked at the door and opened it without waiting for her 14-year-old daughter’s answer. Janet turned the head, heaved a sigh and sat on her bed. She looked her Converse and was biting her nail of her right thumb. She didn’t want that her father make her the moral.
-Why do you always want to make the things more complicated than they are ? asked her dad.
-I don’t want to go, replied Janet.
Her dad rolled his eyes and sat next to his daughter. He touched Janet’s back with his hand, but she pushed him back. He sighed and stood up. He opened the door.
-Redo your bags. We are leaving.
Mr. Rivera closed the door. Janet heard him walking downstairs.
-I don’t want to leave, repeated Janet turning on her side in the fetal position.
A tear sadly rolled on her cheek. She wiped it violently. She hated when we saw her crying, even if she was alone. She didn’t like to see her crying. She stood up and saw her father in the car. He banged on the steering wheel with its index of impatience. He pressed on the horn, what startled Janet. She fell on her butt and knocked her head on the wall. She bent herself of pain. Her right hand on her head, closed eyes, she searched an object to reject her madness. She finally found a base ball. She clenched her teeth or frustration, threw the object on the window who broke, before falling on her father’s car. Janet opened her eyes ; she just realized what she did. She heard her father closing the car’s door.
-Shit, she whispered to herself.
She opened her room’s door and quickly go to the attic. She looked around her with panic and found what she was looking for : a little issue in the wall. This is where Janet was hiding herself for thinking : in the wall. She hid herself here since she’s five, and her father never guessed where she was hidden. Janet’s house was like that : old with all secret passages.
-JANET RIVERA, HERE, NOW, heard Janet.
She swallowed her saliva. She had a bowl in her neck. Then, she heard the floor cracking. It began to sink under her weight. A wooden board fell. She pushed her hands against the two walls and put her legs up. Her left hand started to thickle. She saw an enormous spider on her fingers. She blew on her hand hoping that the bug will continue its walk. She shook a bit her hand, and a bit more, a bit more...finally, Janet was violently shaking her hand. Tired, she put her feet on the ground, forgetting that it was fragile. The floor totally destroyed and fell with the young girl. Janet fell in the butt and yelled a pain sound. She looked up and saw a big hole in the ceiling. When she dropped her head, she saw her dad in front of her, half afraid, half mad.
-Your bag is in the car, told Mr. Rivera.
It was only what he told. Janet was surprised. Not learned what it took, she stood up and follow her dad in the car and buckled her belt and heard the engine purr. She looked her house becoming smaller and smaller. It’s at this moment she realized that she won’t see it back for a while.

After thirty minutes of silence, Mr Rivera decided to start a conversation.
-Are you excited to go to your boarding school ? he asked.
Janet rolled her eyes and looked into the mirror and saw her father’s eyes. He dropped them, realizing how his question was stupid. So, Janet decided to break the ice.
-Why do you want to abandon me ? she asked.
Juste after these words, Mr. Rivera braked sharply in front of a red light. He looked chocked and sad. He slowly nodded his head.
-Answer, asked impatiently her daughter.
He slowly turned himself to Janet, pointing her with his finger.
-I never wanted, I really say never, that you think I want to abandon you.
A chorus of cars’ horns was heard to tell to Janet’s father to drive
-Then why are you sending me here ? she sighed
-We all know that you have problems to be attentive at school and that’s why I send you at Sherborne Girls, for you to be better regulated. This is one of the most deemed school in all New England, you know.
-To get rid of my problem for giving it to somebody else is totally your kind, daddy ! laughed Janet.
She put her iPod’s headphones one her ears. But, in her heart, nothing was funny. She was fine at Kidlington. Even if she didn’t have friends, she felt at her place. At Sherborne Girls, Janet was sure that it’ll have only little bitches who talk about people’s backs. Pathetic.
-Take this off, said Janet’s, taking off her headphones. We talk.
Janet sighed and put her iPod in her pocket.
-Why don’t you want to go at Sherborne ? he asked.
-I loved

Gale Force 8 on Lady of Mann.

On board Lady of Mann (2), Douglas to Liverpool. Gale force 8 West South West. Halfway through the crossing I was putting something in the back of a car on the level car deck near the entrance to the galley. The ship rolled and the car next to me rolled forward and pushed the car door closed on me, trapping my leg. As the ship rolled the other way the car rolled back towards the gate railings. At this point a crew member was walking up the car ramp from the stern. He dropped his cup of tea and grabbed a wooden chock to wedge under the wheels. The driver was found and he apologised for not putting his handbrake on enough. A few more bad rolls and the car may have gone through the gates. On arrival at Liverpool the wind had worsened and we had to be towed to the Landing Stage by two tugs.
