Wood Chair Mats For Carpet
- are plastic mats meant to cover carpet. This allows chairs on wheels to roll easily over the carpet and it protects the carpet. They come in various shapes, some specifically sized to fit partially under a desk.

Living Room Ramp
There is a 7 inch step between my living room and the landing at the bottom of the stairs. That requires a 7 foot long ramp. Problem is that there's a TV off to the left here, and no room for a room-long ramp. So, I decided we should make a box. Brian and another guy built this box out of wood, and I painted it to match the surrounding walls (matching carpet was not available). The box, or landing, allows me to make a 90 degree turn, allowing the ramp to be on an entirely different wall. It's also nice because the two sides of the landing allow pedestrians to go straight up the step, just like they did before, keeping them off of the ramp, which wasn't really make for foot traffic. After a while, we put the office chair mat at the end of tha ramp there because my sharp turns were starting to wear at the carpet.

Amelia, our cat, loves to nap in this chair in the Summer but she'd leave a lot of hair on it so...
I decided to upcycle one of my husband's t-shirts (it didn't fit anymore) to create a chair mat that matched the color of the chair. I can now wash it often to keep the area free of Amelia's hair.
I used some padding left from another project to insert in the middle and I quilted it.
The darker red edges are parts of another upcycled t-shirt.
