Pretty good to have an emergency goalkeeper.
Minnesota was lacking beginning goalkeeper Niklas Backstrom due to a residual groin problem and Josh Harding was forced from the overall game under two minutes in.
Enter Matt Hackett, who recorded 34 saves to win in the NHL debut within the Wild's 2-1 victory within the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday evening.
"Really impressive," Wild coach Mike Yeo stated. "It is not as easy team to experience against inside your first game and it is no easy situation to use and play the first game. The way in which he handled it, he was in charge through the night."
Mikko Koivu and Pierre-Marc Bouchard obtained late within the first period for Hackett, who changed Harding 71 seconds into the overall game because the Wild won their fifth straight on the highway. Minnesota won for that twelfth time after quitting the game's first goal.
"I did not realize it was that bad," Hackett stated. "I simply leaped inside and attempted to prevent pucks. I am still trembling. I had been trembling the entire time. This is an unbelievable feeling. It is a tough building to experience in but it is an enjoyable one too."
Hackett's uncle, Shaun Hackett, was the Sharks' original goalkeeper and he's been taking training from him all his existence.
"It had been awesome," Wild center Kyle Brodziak stated. "He earned some unbelievable saves. There's little else you are able to say. He only agreed to be awesome."
Joe Pavelski obtained for that Sharks, who've lost four of the last five games.
Harding playing an apparent neck injuries 11 seconds after permitting goal within the first minute of play. He was hit hard by teammate Nick Schultz, who had been attempting to block Pavelski in the internet.
