microwave receiver for filesharing

no it is not a microwave receiver.
i wrote about filesharing a few entries earlier.

this is a programmer for microcontrollers.
they include 16KB FLASH MEMORY.
my existing programmers can not program all models.
for this reason, i must build one myself.
i do not want to!

however, i made tiny PCB.
and it is using parallel port.
the USB and serial ports are busy!
OK i have added USB to serial converter yesterday.

basically, parallel port is "write only", for this reason, there is also a tiny LCD, to give feedback of PIC programming success.

this programmer works without any drivers, WINDOWS can still print to parallel port!
so the controller on the PCB translates "print" output to PIC programming sequences.
it is possible to do it in 1K blocks, and also all the 16K.
i have created VISUAL BASIC program yesterday, in a matter of three hours.
however, also the PIC must be programmed in RISC assembly:

-receive "print" data.
-output messages to the LCD
-program the PIC

i have tested, and no drivers are needed to activate LED.
OK it is obscure to "print" the PIC program!

ok.. here it goes.
being that i'm a lil on the frugal side, and like to tinker and see what if and what i can get away with, and see what happens... i (how should i say this) 'combined' this lil experiment...

- the chassis is a radio trashes 4 wheel drive racer, motor and gearing and shafts still work, but the rc receiver blew the magic smoke genie.

- recycled power switch

- used nicad batteries, that didn't hold the full charge, but good enough for me

- zip-zap knock off from micro-center ($5 can't beat it) (radio trash mini rc cars) receiver (and transmitter, not in picture)

- some other electronic parts and ics, to help the interface
(7805 with diodes down to 3v for the zip-zap receiver pcb voltage supply; npn signal boost from the zip-zap receiver to the drivers; pair of half-h drivers, for bipolar power control for the motor, for the bidirectional movement -forward and backwards; experimenting with 1/2 or 3/4 amp circuit breaker, just in case ;) .

lets just say, it worked... limited range due to the zip-zap original rf xmiter/receiver set...
