NASCAR - Spider Land

NASCAR - Spider Land

PHOTOGRAPHER'S NOTE: Snapping a photo from this angle, you're literally in "spider land" where the crowd is far away and in a land where no man wants to step foot. Spider webs, undisturbed by human presence, are all over the place. I made this using a wide angle fitted with a circular polarizer filter to make the clouds pop out and put some life to otherwise dull colors. Picture-taking is like real-life business: nothing is free. You gotta give in order to get something. The price to pay to use a polarizer is 2 stops down per shot!

This is a very dangerous corner, as photographers are as close as it gets to the cars. The engine roar is terrible here, at a point where you also feel it. The smell of raw unburnt fuel and tire rubber is also pretty intense as cars accelerate to full speed at maximum throttle at this point.

The positive aspect in shooting from this "spider land" is that all elements to create a visually aesthetic photo are here: The sun is behind you, you have the cars visible at all angles with a nice and clean background showing a pleasant crowd, you have green trees, blue skies, white clouds, white and red shapes. No complain here.
