Day 133

Day 133

Oh man, I'm totally beat. Went to sleep at 1 and woke up @ 5 and worked in Salem photographing kids. It was good to get back into the school photography; being around the children made me happy. They're just so happy overall that it rubbed off, I suppose. I'm working with different equipment and different backdrops and lighting, with different standardized poses, so, it'll take a little getting used to, but I think I'll be up to speed in a few days. I was draggin' ass today, though. The whiskey and nachos I had for dinner last night didn't blend so well with the coffee and emergenC this morning, and around 6, as I drove south on the 5 this morning a 4 ring circus played out in my belly; I grew nauseous and turned my music off for a bit. The rain was torrential at times and visibility was poor, but when the sun rose the sky was of the deepest purples and blues and grays I may have ever seen... it was breathtaking.
I forgot my name badge on my desk at home and was reviewed by a manager, on my first freakin' day back. I wonder if she marked me down. Competition is fierce for hours.. the economy being how it is; people aren't spending much on Spring photography this year. From what I gather, the other photographers are hurtin', and butt-poor... some people have quit because the hours are too low (more hours for the rest of us), and I wouldn't be surprised if there's some nasty attitudes going about, just below the surface. I suppose I should watch my back... it's hard out here bein' a photo-pimp. I wish I were a photo pimp. What would I do if I were one?
I'm so tired. Beth's on her way over. She had a tough day herself. I think we're gonna make mac & cheese, maybe bust out a game of scrabble, or maybe just hit the sack and listen to the rain outside.
One of my room mates, Dave, came home with this daffodil for me today, plucked from the neighborhood somewhere I believe. The mates are on alert for still life subjects... Daffodils, like fresh local asparagus, are harbingers of Spring. I love the Spring.
Oh, today is Ash Wednesday, too. I'm not catholic, but I dig the rite. I'm kind of into rituals.
Ok, cheers.
Carry on.
As you were.
That is all.
