I normally don't but I was on the way to Eastbourne at the train terminal when I came across this lad shop. It not being the one I though because that would have been Kings Cross to bonnie (where I got those Parsnips: Indian Spice Flavour crisps), still it was a similar sort of place: nice, traditional, expensive.

I remember before going into the shop I was a little light headed, whimsical, happy, I backtracked onto some hippy's foot - you should have seen his face! He didn't even apologise, well you do don't you, it's natural. So I knew he was a tone! I'd just had a new haircut, it taking over my personality, I felt like smiling a lot, like Peter Cook. Normally I'm very aggressive and so that tone would have copped it, but nay, I felt too …peaceful. Was funny though.

There's always something in these places, this or that, something foreign (bit like Harrod's Food Hall), but it was a bit desperate because while the cheeses were nice, they don't have branding and I don't want that ponging up the train carriage. Plus it costs a lot of money and I'm fucking poor.

But what was this?! some Walnut Oil, in a nice tin, well, that's nice. But, well, you know, I don't want to go down that route, that twee looking tradition route. The pattern was printed and that's bad, like those fake wax seals on cheeses (some of them are printed, the others are just plastic imitations!) - basically, trying too hard. But all in row, like [French] soldiers, they looked nice. I had to reenter the shop mind!

It cost about ?5~something, and it had to because there was a ?5minimum on a card - no NFC here then!

Guess what, when I got back I checked the date and the bastard was dated: 3rd June, 2010! a solid year out of date - fucking shit mighty! That shop was right by the trains, surely they need to spring clean all the time to remove the layer of soot/dirt from customers and the trains on a regular basis?! How did they miss that?! I would have gone to get my money back but I always shred mine receipts immediately.

It tasted like Walnut Oil, which is very oily and pungent. I was wondering how I would get through it all, but of course that's not a problem now. It'll make a nice tin, not sure what to use it for though (never do, until the time is right). But I buggered the lid as I used so much boiling hot water to get the label off (easily) and clean out the oil that the plastic top fastening rotates infinitely now - should have been an all in one metal case! Embossed too.
