Sigh.
Woke up the morning after our trip to Maryland to find my tire completely flat. Put the doughnut on, instead. It sure looks pitiful.
Later, Brandon and I took it to an Exxon station where we planned to put the regular tire back on, refill it, and hope it holds air.
We got the little doughnut tire off, then the jack started making bad noises. It slipped, and the car fell to the ground with no wheel. Our expressions had to be priceless.
With the help of Dave's other jack, we got the car back up and the old tire back on. The wheel hasn't fallen off yet, so hopefully everything survived without damage. Time will tell.
What has become...
well run-flat tires rely on a super enforced sidewall, but when that sidewall has ben compromised, as in my case of hitting a pothole that had re-bar sticking out slashing and destroying the sidewall, it didn't hold up, the system reported to me tire failure and when i pulled over to take a look there wasn't much tire left, thankfully my car still had a spare doughnut... which since has been fixed and all is good now...
