The Black Diamond - Copenhague - Denmark
It is the Danish Architect Association, Schmidt, Hammer & Lassen, who has designed "The Black Diamond", a modern building on the waterfront in Copenhagen for the use of the Royal Library, whose ancient domicile from the 15th century had become outdated and needed more room for efficient storage of literary material, and better facilities for the public. The architects' vision was that modern architecture should organise the setting for life and work in such a way that interaction between shape, light and organic forms offer space. To create space for a given purpose is creating identity. Creating identity is the essence of experience -- hopefully traversing the standards and norms of time -- and is in itself an expression of the visionary.
The Black Diamond! Indeed an intriguing title for a building, whose shape suggests a diamond mirroring itself in the waters of the medieval canals of Copenhagen. The building is made of glass and steel, and clad in Absolute Black granite, mined in Zimbabwe and cut and polished in northern Italy. Each stone weighs 75 kg. The composition of the building material immediately gave way for the name used by the public, and later officially adapted.

Fue la asociacion danesa de los arquitectos, Schmidt, Hammer y Lassen, la que diseno el "El Diamante Negro" , un edificio moderno en la linea de costa en Copenhague para el uso de la biblioteca real, cuyo edificio del s.XV se habia quedado anticuado, y mejorando las instalaciones para la experiencia del publico. La vision de los arquitectos era que la arquitectura moderna debe organizar el ajuste para la vida y trabajar de una manera tal que la interaccion entre las formas de la forma, ligeras y organicas ofrezca el espacio. Crear el espacio para un proposito dado esta creando identidad. Crear identidad es la esencia de la experiencia -- esperanzadamente atravesar los estandares y las normas del tiempo -- y esta en si mismo una expresion del visionario.
El diamante Negro debe su nombre, a que su forma sugiere un diamante que se refleja sobre las aguas de los canales medievales de Copenhague. El edificio se realizo en cristal y acero, revestido en granito negro, importado de las minas de Zimbabwe y fue cortado y pulido en el Norte de Italia. Cada piedra pesaba 75 kgr. La composicion del material de construccion llevo inmediatamente a que fuera bautizado por el publico, y adaptado mas adelante oficialmente.

We explored the Graveyard and were able to walk inside the tunnels
