This is going to be a doozy.

6 years ago today, my Grandma on my mom's side lost her long battle with heart disease. She went in for a heart valve replacement and didn't make it out.

Everyone loves their Grandma, that's a given. However, her death was so much harder on me because my mom, sister and I had lived with her since I was three. I grew up with her ALWAYS there and she was like a second mother. Whenever someone dies that you love, it's a terrible thing. But it's even worse when that person is a staple in your everyday life.

Every year on this day I'm always reminded of the painful memories of 2004. I won't go into detail because I don't with anyone outside of family, but at 11 years old I was there with her during her final moments. It was definitely a shell-shock for my Mom, too. I was definitely still a kid but in a lot of ways I had to grow up when that happened. We were all sure she would make it out of surgery, and she didn't. It taught me very early on that families CAN bond together like nothing else on this Earth, and that you really have to treasure every moment with someone.

She was one of the most amazing people on this planet, and I'm not even being biased. She would do anything and everything she could for you. She watched cartoons and movies with me. We'd go on random Sonic trips for cherry limeades. She cried at every one of my elementary school choir concerts and I KNOW she would have been sooo into marching competitions.

If I can be half the person she was in her life, I will be completely content.

Whenever someone would ask her at a doctor's appointment if she was sure she wanted to go through with such a big surgery, she would point at me and say "that's my youngest granddaughter right there, and I'm going to make it to her high school graduation".

That's another reason why I want to graduate from a nice college and NOT CTC. I want to make her proud.


So yeah, I get a little ticked off at potheads on this day. WOO HOO GET HIGH LIFE'S ALL ABOUT DRUGS. Idk, if you want to smoke dope, that's your perogative, but I really hate it when people yell at me to ~celebrate~ the day, when life is SO much more about that.

I like to consider myself an animal right activist, but another one of my big things is heart disease. It's the number one killer of people in the USA. Not cancer. And the crazy thing is - it can really be PREVENTED. I know I'm one to talk - I don't eat very healthy or exercise as much as I should, but I really am striving to change that. I just don't want people to lose the ones they love too early over something that can be prevented.

That's the point of this picture, the "go red" campaign. It raises awarness. Wear red and tell everyone you know.

I know it's by no means perfect, but this picture and description means a lot to me, and it's very personal.

Today actually wasn't very bad, all things considered. A dumb-ass family member of mine REALLY pissed me off on Facebook. Like I literally had to walk away from my computer and breathe so I didn't go off on her ridiculous ass. UGH.

Didn't do much today. Honestly, I wasn't really feeling up to deciphering Shakespeare or Government. Mom brought home a 6-Pack of M&M ice cream cookie sandwhiches for me though :D hnnng so excited.

My wife and I love having a quiet night a home. It can be just as nice as going out for dinner and dancing or to a movie. Both choices are nice but sometimes just sitting around with a good book , dvd, or watching a classic movie or old tv show and holding hands is all you need to have fun and be young at heart. Yes it is nice to get dressed up a little too and show off your a few of your many gifts to the world and each other. Then if you lucky and you feel the moon hit your eye like a big pizza pie, well it's amore or is that amoure! I love the red it is grea contrast on our black couch and its a cheery and yes a sexy colour too. Kind complimnets and comments welcome.
