Woke up this morning with a overnight rain. The rain clouds lingered. I told myself, looks like today fishing day is ruined. I told Zac that my fishing record for rainy days is pathetic. My Casio Fishing Watch says that 6-7am was the best time for fishing. Zac's Casio weather watch's barometer said that the pressure is lowering, means rain is approaching. What do we do? Drips of rain started again... since we were already at the venue, and our 2 other fishoes were probably sleeping sweet in bed, did not stop us and we pressed on.
Zac suddenly yelled and said "see what I told you, rainy days are not always bad fishing days" He landed a large size PB with his Yozuri Red head floater, by blind cast. That did excite me quite a bit. I might be wrong after all, my watch might be right afterall. Took photo for him, released the fish. (not shown)
The sky gradually brightened, the sun was sneaking out between the clouds and rain stopped all together.
Shortly after - Climbed up to a vantage point, I spotted a nesting pair, one large and one small, and they were showing aggression towards my lure "intruder". I called Zac over...targetted at the nest. I took no more than 5 cast to gave this big male a solid hook up! Gave me a solid fight, and while i was landing this fish, Zac was still trying on the female still faithfully guarding the nest. I took a picture of this male, and it weighed slightly over 1kg. Release it unharmed, and returned to spot. Zac was still trying with different lures, hard lures, soft plastics, the female always nimbled but no solid take. I joined in the chase, changed lures 3 times, and still ended up with my fav Rapala Countdown GFR Orange. 3 casts...she took the lure solidly. I smiled at Zac and landed this fish. She weighed 750g.
Then Zac started to curse at me - said I was a nest destroyer! Yup, after the 2 fish abandon the nest - other small fish like Eartheaters, Convict Cichlids had a good feast of the eggs in the nest...sigh...have I indirectly killed many offsprings?
