Holiday Favorites

Holiday Favorites

Last week we had a White Elephant Gift Exchange at work and of course, I opted for the gag gift. I’ve always believed that if you are going to do something, you should really aim to be the best at whatever it is that you are doing. That got me thinking…

…if I’m going to give out a bad gift, why not try to assemble the worse holiday gift ever! Needless to say, the recipient was pissed!!! And, I was even more upset because they didn’t get it!

I am not sure about you but I strive to have a life filled with experiences instead of clutter. It’s not about being unappreciative but a gift that does not come from the heart is not worth giving. And laughter, well, that’s priceless to me.

Here are my top 5 offenders:

Offense #1 “The Socks” – practical gift but not really exciting. Especially the socks with the holiday designs; great, those will go well with my work clothes.

Offense #2 “The Handmade” – unless you are a child or actually good at it, this particular idea usually does not yield very positive results. How about instead of learning how to knit while making my present, you bake me some cookies instead =)

Offense #3 “The Fruitcake” – The infamous fruitcake now comes in an oh-so-fun inflatable variety (of courser I bought it). Not a good idea unless you know the recipient absolutely loves fruitcake.

Offense #4 “The Slightly Used” – Hmm, I liked it so much I had to take it for a test run(?!). Riiiight

Offense #5 “The Regifted” – Why torture someone else?! Unless you find a child eager to experience the magical Chia Pet or someone who is absolutely crazy about all things floral, just let it go.

12 Christmas Fruit Platters

12 Christmas Fruit Platters

Forgive me for this horrible picture...there's a reason for it, which I'll explain later.

My friend Millicent requested these fruit platters for the secretaries at her work. She loved when I made the fruit platter for East Coast Cookies for the cookie exchange. She wanted them a little more "Christmas like" so I added a candy cane and the dots around the cookie plate was green & red.

So the reason for the bad picture was because my camera died after this shot was taken. I was devastated because I didn't have a camera for the rest of the holiday. This was the only picture I got to take of any cookies I made. I did take a few with the camera on my phone, but they were awful!

On a happy note, my husband did surprise me with a new camera for Christmas. Fancier than my old one, so I'm trying to learn how to use it.

So here's my late and only entry of holiday cookies for 2010. ^_^
