Krrish Diary : September 15, 2005 Singapore
An eye-opening afternoon of excitement began. Day One of filming Krrish in Singapore. What a special day... how many people will ever get to watch a real film company in action, especially a Bollywood film company! But here they were – the side street had been cordoned off by the Singapore motorcycle police to accommodate the film crew’s entourage of vehicles and equipment.
Apparently some of the outdoor scenes had been filmed in the morning – the Singapore Straits Times newspaper ran an article the following day (16 September) covering the launch/prayer ceremony and showed the two stars; Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra, standing in an open car.
For the afternoon, the film crew concentrated on shooting several dialogue scenes between Hrithik and Priyanka. Watching how the equipment was quickly set up, adjusted properly; seeing how the actors were painstakingly groomed, madeup with literally every hair in place; and constantly adjusting themselves using ever-present mirrors was amazing.
Hrithik appeared so suave and debonair, completely composed and upbeat. His partner, the beautiful actress and former Miss World, Priyanka somehow managed to keep up although it was obvious she was somewhat tired. Maybe one reason for Mr. Roshan’s beaming ambience was the fact that he had just learned that he was going to be a daddy in real life!
Anyways, all of the scenes were completed in a few hours. The film crew was friendly and fresh – let’s hope they were fresh as this was just day 1 of 60!

Film homage, newsreel camera car, "The Great White Hope," Globe, Arizona
This recreated scene is of a newsreel cameraman filming the hoopla on July 4th, 1910, in Reno, Nevada. The event was a heavyweight boxing match between champ Jack Johnson and former champ Jim Jeffries. Newsreels were begun in France in 1906, but started in the US shortly before this event.
"The Great White Hope" is a fictionalized account of Johnson's tribulations in a racist society. He was the first black heavyweight champion. So a "White Hope" was needed to dethrone him.
The main street of Globe, Arizona was made over to simulate Reno in 1910.
