Savings Investment Account
- An account that allows you to invest in a wide variety of securities including stocks, bonds, mutual funds and fixed income products. Investment accounts are not tax sheltered and any income, capital gains or losses realized in these accounts will have tax implications.
- this is an account where funds can be ‘parked’ for long-term investment or capital purposes. From here you can invest directly in any investment, for example, within the J.P. Morgan WealthManager+ Investment Range, giving you maximum flexibility.

Icesave no more
Icesave was an Icelandic bank that offered a 5% interest rate on their savings account.
I had been screwed by the Postbank for years (interest 0,5%), so naturally I transfered my savings to them. They went belly-up (with parts of the Icelandic community in their wake) and the Dutch government helped the savers by paying out the savings for at least 120.000 duped savers (who had opened a savings account at Icesave).
One of the main reasons, that I opened an account with Icesave was the friendly website and easy communication. Still not to be found at competitors today.
Got my 900 euros back and booked a diving holiday to Hurghada. A safer and more fun investment.
* the 15 or so odd euro's I got in interest here was more than 5 years of saving at the Postbank. The Postbank doesn't exist anymore as well and was assimilated by ING Bank who themselves made a huge mess of their finances during the crisis and are still not in safe waters trust and moneywise. ING Bank is a huge corporate bank which got saved with billions of euro's by the Dutch government and still manage to operate like nothing ever happened.
