Rainmaker Musical Instrument
A musical instrument is constructed or used for the purpose of making the sounds of music. In principle, anything that produces sound can serve as a musical instrument. The history of musical instruments dates back to the beginnings of human culture.

A Calabash in Calabash.
Swear. To. God.
This woman was purchasing a calabash gourd in a thrift shop in Calabash, N.C. I'm pretty sure it's from west Africa, and not the Carolinas - it's been fashioned into a "rainmaker" - type musical instrument (like a Guiro). The town (pop. 711 in 2000!) was, in fact, named for the gourd that was "imported" from Africa and used for containers during slavery. They say that they grew there too .. I wonder if that's true and if anyone is still growing them. Regardless, you never see them, and I'm sure this came from a music store originally.
The woman who owned the place said "We should be holding up a bunch of fried food - that would be more representative of Calabash."
