Yup, ANOTHER car related blog. I figured after the embarrassment of only having some dark noisy photo for yesterday, I would make up for it today with something less car related but ultimately still relevant.

You see, with the title I was able to link a sausage on the BBQ today with the Civic by calling them both bangers. Clever, huh? No? Okay D:

Anyway, actually as it turns out the Civic ISN'T an old banger, but rather just a poor car who has had a couple of careless owners who felt the need to do DIY fixes on the car.

My brother, despite telling me 'You bought it, so you're on your own', kindly spent the afternoon with me trying to source the problem with its overheating. Before we got to that, he ripped out the old Alarm and discovered the whole thing was such a huge fire risk that it was baffling how it lasted so long. The immobiliser was also just a switch hidden in the dashboard.

After replacing small parts in the engine and taking it out for a run, the problem still hasn't been sorted. However it's definitely not the end, and I personally think the end of the troubles are soon to be over. Once they are over, I can just worry about selling it on and trying to at least break even with this car.

Problem is, unlike the last owner of the Civic who told many dirty lies to me in order to sell it (including even claiming its a Japanese Import!), I am far too honest. Thing is, I got proper stung with this Civic and was totally fucked over by the seller, and I wouldn't wish the problems I've been having on anyone! It's cost me time AND money (and plenty of it, I am regretful to admit).

Anyway this photo is just another in a long line of portrait photos using the same faded edges and retro themed tones. I wonder when I will actually take a landscape photo that I am happy with!

If the towering monuments clad in green cloth, flashing with energy into the early hours of the mornings, are the star attractions in China's modernisation drive, then taking place two hours before sunrise in the gutters that flank these construction sites is one of the more interesting sideshows. As groundwater from the recent heavy rain is pumped out of the new foundations that are being dug ten metres away, to flow away down into the drains of the symbolically named Changjiang Road, taxi drivers from all across Dalian line up with their buckets and mops to bathe in this bonanza of clean water, or near enough, that would otherwise be going to waste. At a time when the North of China struggles to combat serious water shortages in the face of continued economic growth, let it be noted that while the means by which they make their living may be the cause of environmental problems of a different nature, these drivers were at least doing their bit to conserve water.
