Vertical Sump Pump Float Switch
- A float switch is a device used to detect the level of liquid within a tank. The switch may be used in a pump, an indicator, an alarm, or other devices.
- An electrical switch operated by a float in a tank or reservoir and usually controlling the motor of a pump.
- Used to control (turn on and off) a sewage effluent pump. The switch is housed within a plastic bulb that is connected to the pump by a wire.

- A sump pump is a pump used to remove water that has accumulated in a water collecting sump pit, commonly found in the basement of homes.

In the background on the left is the large terminal building in front of the stub end platform tracks. The large tall building to the right of the terminal is the headquarters building for the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad, originally built by the ACL. To the right beyond the tall tower of the Gulf-Life building is the twin steel latice towers for the highway lift bridge over the Jax River near the Times-Union newspaper building in the photo. Behind the Times-Union building sits the FEC Railway bascule railroad bridge over the Jax river with tracks that continue to the South down to Miami. On the left side in the foreground are a large number of refrigerated box cars, many that are still constructed of wood, waiting to be serviced. Farther to the right of the refer platform area are the Amtrak service platforms for arrival and departure. A station EMD switcher is waitng for it's next duty assignment on the right side entrance platform tracks. This terminal was once a very busy location with many of Florida's finest trains constantly arriving and departing along with many secondary trains. The former Atlantic Coast Line, Seaboard Air Line, Southern Railway & Florida East Coast were the main railroads that used the terminal, but other railroads over the years also used the station too.
