rosaries turning gold - Sandvik Coromant

Sandvik Coromant SCGX Carbide Turning Insert, H10 Grade, Uncoated, Square Shape, AL Chip Breaker, 3(2.5)2 Insert Size, 0.1563" Thickness, 0.0315" Nose Radius (Pack of 10)

Sandvik Coromant SCGX Carbide Turning Insert, H10 Grade, Uncoated, Square Shape, AL Chip Breaker, 3(2.5)2 Insert Size, 0.1563

The Sandvik Coromant SCGX H10 carbide indexable insert with AL chipbreaker has a square shape with a 7-degree clearance angle, and provides a balance of wear- and shock-resistance for roughing to finishing of aluminum alloys frequently used in the aerospace, automotive, and construction industries. The single-sided positive insert has chip grooves on one side, a hole in the center, and four cutting edges. It has a 7-degree clearance angle for light cutting forces and side clearance, making it better than a negative insert for internal turning. It can also be used for external and internal profiling, interrupted cuts, and large lead angles. The insert’s fine-grained carbide is both hard and tough, providing a balance of wear- and shock- resistance for turning of aluminum.
The SCGX H10 AL chipbreaker evacuates chips during roughing, medium machining, and finishing in average to good machining conditions. This AL chipbreaker style is intended for low cutting depths and high feeds. Tolerance of distance from the outer edge of the inscribed circle to the point of the square is + or - 0.001” and tolerance of the theoretical diameter of the insert is + or - 0.001”. Insert thickness tolerance is + or - 0.005”. Different insert shapes and sizes may have different inscribed circle (iC) measurements, which are related to the insert’s range of cutting depths, speeds, lead angle, and feed rates. The inscribed circle is the largest circle that can be drawn within the edges of the insert shape. In general, as the insert size and iC become larger, the maximum cutting depth increases. The cutting depth influences the metal removal rate, number of cuts, chip evacuation, and power required when using the insert.
Indexable inserts are small cutting tools designed to remove material in external and internal cutting applications such as turning, milling, drilling, and grooving. They are held by an insert holder, have multiple cutting edges, and can be rotated when one edge wears down. Multiple inserts can be used to accomplish a variety of cuts in one operation. An insert is either positive or negative, which refers to the rake or clearance angle at which the insert removes material. Inserts are coded according to their specific cutting and application capability (e.g., VNMG 16 04 04-QM). Each part of the code represents details of the insert shape, nose angle, clearance angle, tolerance, size, geometry, grade, and chipbreaker style.
Sandvik Coromant produces tools for turning, milling, and drilling. Headquartered in Sweden and represented in 130 countries, the company manufactures tools used throughout the metalworking field, including the automotive and aerospace, die and mould, and general engineering industries. All Sandvik Coromant inserts meet ISO and ANSI standards.
Matching Inserts to Holders
These inserts are part of the Sandvik Coromant 107 Positive Insert family, which means they can be used in the CoroTurn 107 clamping system. The CoroTurn 107 system is used for internal longitudinal turning of small diameters, and is also for external light roughing to finishing.

Saga Seed anyone

Saga Seed anyone

Saga Seed Tree
Adenanthera pavonina
Coral Tree, Red Sandalwood, Saga (Malay)
Children love the hard red seeds and few can resist collecting the brightly colored seeds usually littered under the tree.

The seeds can only germinate if they are scratched (scarified), boiled for one minute, or dipped in sulphuric acid. This suggests that in nature, they must be eaten and go through the digestive system of an animal before germination. The tiny flowers are said to smell vaguely like orange blossoms.

The young leaves can be cooked and eaten, but usually only during famine. The leaves were also used to supplement animal fodder, or mulched to fertilise crops. The seeds were eaten in Melanesia and Polynesia and the people there called it the "food tree". The seeds were roasted before eating. Elsewhere they are boiled. In Java, they are roasted, shelled, then eaten with rice. They are said to taste like soy bean. The raw seeds are toxic and may cause intoxication. Studies show the cooked seed to be rich in oil and proteins and easily digested by both humans and livestock.

These attractive seeds have been used as beads in jewellery, leis and rosaries. They were also used in ancient India for weighing gold. The seeds are curiously similar in weight. Four seeds make up about one gramme. In fact the name "saga" is traced to the Arabic term for "goldsmith". In India, it is believed that a person may have as many wishes as elephants found in a saga seed. The ground seeds can produce an oil which was used as an industrial lubricant.

The hard, reddish wood is used to make cabinets, often in place of true sandalwood. With exposure to light, the wood it slowly turns purplish-red. It is also valued as firewood as it burns well. The tree resprouts new branches easily and so is not damaged by harvesting for firewood. A red dye is obtained from the wood and used by the Brahmins to make religious markings on their foreheads.

In Malaysia and Indonesia, the trees also provided shade and were planted as "nurse trees" in coffee, clove and rubber plantations.

Traditional medicinal uses: A red powder made from the wood is also used as an antiseptic paste. In Ancient Indian medicine, the ground seeds are used to treat boils and inflammations. A decoction of the leaves is used to treat gout and rheumatism. The bark was used to wash hair.

Role in the habitat: The Saga Seed Tree is believed to be able to fix nitrogen and thus help rejuvenate soils.

What Will Change Everything?

What Will Change Everything?

What fills the heart that has emptied in despair? How can surrender change darkness into vision?

He who has seen everything empty itself is close to knowing what everything is filled with. -- Antonio Porchia, translated by W.S.Merwin, from Voices

.

O lovers
Love will lay a carpet of treasures under your feet.
Musicians
Love will fill your drums with gold.
Thirsty ones
Love will turn your scorched desert into a meadow of paradise.
Forsaken ones
Love will open the doors to the King's palace.
Alchemists
Love's alchemy will reshape gallows into altars.
Sinners
Love will change your apathy to faith.
Kings of the world
in love's hands you will melt like a candle.

To the parched lips of those who are willing to surrender
Love will bring the wine
that changes darkness into vision,
cruelty into compassion and dust into precious incense.

Those who think the heart is only in the chest
take two or three steps and are content.
The rosary, the prayer rug and repentance
are paths that they mistake for the destination.

The Turning Point [VHS]

Mikhail Baryshnikov made his film debut in this lightweight but entertaining drama about the relationship between a renowned ballerina (Anne Bancroft) and the woman (Shirley MacLaine) who had trained with her but had given up dance to become a wife, mother, and teacher. Between MacLaine's envy over her friend's career and the attention her own ballerina daughter (Leslie Browne) is getting, MacLaine's character goes through a complicated crisis. The two actresses carry the story very well and probably camouflage its thinness; they even make a somewhat condescending climax involving a catfight seem like a good idea. A subplot involving a developing romance between the virginal Browne and Baryshnikov's womanizer makes for pretty window dressing. More memorable are dance sequences featuring each in splendid performance. Baryshnikov's leaps are something to behold. --Tom Keogh
