My First Craft Fair
Fifty-five pieces ranging in price from $4 to the high 60s, and ranging in materials bead-wise from glass to garnets and amethysts and from plated metal to hand-worked gold vermiel. Brought the more expensive stuff just to show off my range, never expected to sell it there.
Lots of compliments on having beautiful work and on my colors. Some commented that my prices were very reasonable, which was good given that that was the wildcard to me.
Some people took my card without buying, which is excellent since they were glad to see I had (will soon have) a web shop. Even better I sold 8 pieces, which more than covered the cost of the booth. Considering the traffic could have been better, 8 isn't too bad.
The woman next to me was very nice. At times she was incredibly busy, though, and I was sitting there having sold one piece. Fortunately I can be envious without hating. :) She and I had a nice time chatting all day and she's a pro at craft fairs and so was very supportive and was right not to panic at the 1 piece thing.
There were other jewelry makers there but we all had very distinctive styles/material choices. For this particular craft fair my products were on the higher end. There were so many fairs to choose from in this small town!
I did end up taking about half the earrings and laying them out. They were too crowded in their stand and you couldn't really see the variety there. That worked out well for me.
And btw, yes, I have lazily grown my hair back out. I didn't plan it and I do plan to chop it off again. I just haven't gotten around to it!
"My Winter Garden"
In my winter garden grows a single golden flower... This repurposed vintage necklace is made almost entirely of wonderful vintage finds. Many different pieces have been brought together for the creation of this gold-tone necklace which has a double chain, faux pearls, faceted glass bead, and a lovely detailed flower accent. Approx.
