Another pic I "borrowed" ....Hey, its me! As you can see, I did a real shitty job putting my hair up, and never had time to fix it. Oh well, not bad for my 1st event, I guess. I love how the high collar gives me a double chin at this angle S-E-X-Y!

This is the first "real" Tudor costume I've tried to make. In this pic, I'm wearing:

-Cotton Muslin knee-length smock with ruffle collar & cuffs. *I made this with NO pattern, just piecing square shapes together :)

-Red Cotton petticoat with black satin hem facing or "guard".
*This is a simple 1-piece skirt, pleated to a waistband with CB seam (no pattern). I read about women of this era owning red colored petticoats & kirtles. In the Tudor Era, the color red was associated with good health, blood, ect. People believed that wearing Red, especially close to the body, promoted better health.

-Black Linen Kirtle with side back lacing: Due to time constraints and weight loss, this did not come out the way I wanted. I had to re-do the entire bodice last minute....but it worked for the event! I was shocked to receive complements on my dress, since I felt so PLAIN compared to everyone there. I sewed D-rings inside the bodice to lace up, and plan to switch to gromments ASAP next wearing. The flash of red at the hip is the petticoat. Back skirt is cartrige pleated to waist. Front skirt has deep knife pleats to reduce bulk.

-Cotton Muslin coif cap. This was easy. If only may hair was UP IN the cap instead of sitting below it....DAMN.
