Wood Floor Mops
- Wood flooring is any product manufactured from timber that is designed for use as flooring, either structural or aesthetic. Bamboo flooring is often considered a wood floor, although it is made from a grass (bamboo) rather than a timber.

hickory split mop
this primitive mop is the absolute best solution for mopping the handmade floor at the primitive Appalachian farmstead near Humpback Rocks. Blue Ridge Parkway.
It is made by cutting a hickory limb and soaking it in the creek, then each layer of the bark is peeled back and split then tied to hold it. In between each peeling, the log has to be soaked in the creek to soften the wood. This process is repeated until they get to the center which becomes the handle. The handle is smoothed down and cut to length. The splits are tied and trimmed to the desired length to make a mop. When they get ready to mop the bottom is soaked in hot soapy water then used to scrub the wooden floor. This is usually done in the springtime to clear out winter's debris.

Matt and I went on a deep-clean scrub-fest today. Oh man. The house has not been this clean since we moved in. Mopped floors, washed walls, beaten pillows, EVERYTHING.
