I was trying to photograph some fly - which wasn't working when this wasp buzzed me and started jumping in on the scene. I wasn't interested, but the wasp was persistent. doing all sorts of weird things to muscle in on the scene. The fly obviously did what it was named for and flew off, it wasn't going to mess with a hard man of the insect world. I tried to follow, but the wasp kept following too, jumping on my photographic equipment to attract my attention. I would gently coax it off and put it in a bush somewhere, this kept repeating. Eventually I conceded, when someone is this persistent you've got to give them a chance. Unfortunately the fly didn't understand the thing about being a certain distance from the camera to have its photo taken, it thought that there was some strange osmosis of the image from the subject into the camera, so kept flying on to the equipment. Sigh - I kept moving it back into the scene by coaxing it onto my finger (it seemed to like the warmth) and placing it on a bush. This went on for some time and I got so many wasted shots with poor focus that I decided to take a shot of it one handed while it was on my finger. It is very difficult holding my heavy equipment one-handed so I was way out of focus, but I at least caught the fly doing its exercise. Here it is doing some kind of twist, throwing its "arms" around while twisting at the waist - quite good form, I think you'll agree.

Again, as per usual with NHS this hospital in stages of demo had the ocassional cupboard rammed with sensitive documentation.

Trying not to stoop to their level of confidentiality incompetance this pic was taken with an empty binder (to do with maintance I think), and not patients stuff, but you get the idea :/

The photographer Lukas Felzmann was fascinated by the very thing that some driving past would find boring, flat, and disconsolate: the vast Sacramento Valley, located just a hundred miles from San Francisco. Felzmann discovers with his camera the hidden charms of that seeming nonplace. For him, exploring a place means both walking around and lingering quietly, until the valley opens up like a book, with stories that cry out to be read and discovered. With his camera he traces how time, determined here by the growth of the plants, slows on the plane, and how the horizontality of the surface becomes a reassuring balance to the hectic city of millions nearby. The photographs show the diversity of the plane: the original landscape in its natural state, the large swaths put to agricultural use, the modern provincial towns, and the transitional areas in between. Photographs of water in all its facets run through the book, just as water runs through and forms a valley.
