So today I made two dog beds to go into the dog run outside. (That makes three new beds in a week!)
Step one- take old fleecy rug... (inside-out)
Step two- pin out to required size...( allow extra room for seems and stuffing!)
Step three- sew seems using machine... ( check that you buy the correct thread!)
*Important- leave a hole big enough to add stuffing.
Step four- turn correct way round... (pull out through the small hole.)
Step five- sew 2 or 4 small darts into the middle of the cushion...(1-2" long these will help prevent stuffing moving around freely within the cushion.)
Step six- add stuffing (I used/recycled old pillows to fill up the inside. Add to desired depth. May require more than one pillow depending on size.)
Step seven- sew the hole shut fold in edge to prevent animal attraction.
Step eight- place the new cushion into the dogs bed and relax.
I added a carpet (that hubby Nath cut) and the cushions on top inside the run so it's very cosy for them now. All I need now is a bit of rubber or plastic of some sort to put across the doors to stop any wind or rain... I will have to think about that.
Off course this couldn't all be possible without of course a sewing machine breaking... Well not working. Thankfully another one was on hand and got the job completed! Few! I love this picture. Just unfortunate I couldn't get the needle to focus. That however is a minor problem with a photo taken on my iPhone!
My Mug Rug
I couldn't stand it. I had to try making my own mug rug during naptime. I was all ready to do some free motion on it and I realized I never bought a darning foot for my new machine *gasp*.
I apparently need more mugs, because they all seem to be ugly ones I got as a free gift. This was the best one.
