I didn't have my tripod with me, so I just braced myself and set it to take 9 shots in a row at a shutter speed of .6 seconds.

I love the slow water effect.

So, they say that spending time around nature is good for the brain. Apparently if you live in a more built-up area, there's a cacophany of sensory inputs from all around. Go out to nature and much of that recedes so that you can actually take care of one or two sensory inputs at a time, giving your mental filter a break.

I started at home and ended up at home, but in the intervening time, I biked up to the ridge of the mountains between Silicon Valley and the oceans. Somewhere around 3000 ft of climbing. I met very few people who were going in the same direction on the trail. Most of the mountain bikers are the sort of folk who like to go downhill as fast as possible and rely on somebody's car to take them back to the trailhead for another downhill. Whereas, I like mountain biking because it lets me get fairly deep into the wilderness fairly quickly.

So I had two incidents with other mountain bikers going the other way where they were just being meh. One of them yelled for me to stop because she couldn't control her bike. The other decided to go to my left as I moved to the left side of the trail, thus almost smacking into me and then told me that it wasn't *his* fault.

Otherwise, people were fairly reasonable. The rider in front would say "Two behind" so that I'd know there was two more riders to dodge on a narrow singletrack.

I skipped the off-road descent and descended CA-9, which was long and let me go awfully fast without needing to hop over obstacles.

It was so clear and cold that tourists were filling their water bottles from the spring.

This is one of my favorite places to photograph in Yosemite. Last autumn, it was full of fallen leaves and was more still. This time the water was moving much faster. I barely needed a filter to get silky water.
